Good evening folks. It's me, Ari. For some reason, I couldn't help but notice that one of the spies (specifically White Spy) has been drawn with visible ears (or an ear) on at least two occasions, to my knowledge.

Weird. I kinda have to imagine that it may have been a goof (in the second image's case, at least). I don't know why, but every once in a while, a lot of the little things in comics and animated shorts tend to grab my attention.
I do not claim ownership of any content. Spy vs. Spy belongs to MAD Magazine and Antonio Prohias.

What's up, it's Ari. I could be better. Either way, same boredom, different day. Anyway, we all know about a certain goof from one of the Spy vs. Spy shorts from MADtv.

I don't know why but is it just me or does either of the spies having normal eyes in a few scenes/panels look rather cursed? I do have a little bit of a compilation of the spies being seen with normal eyes.
Here:

Don't worry, I'm well aware that they have been wearing sunglasses.

See?
It's just that so many of us, myself included, are just so goddamned used to the spies having black sclera with white pupils. You know what I mean?
Thanks for checking this out. Peace.

#spy vs spy#black spy#white spy#antonio prohias#mad magazine#spy vs spy paperbacks#madtv#the spies have been wearing sunglasses all along and have normal eyes#but still...seeing them drawn with normal eyes looks kinda cursed#because the vast majority of us are just so freak'n used to them having black sclera with white pupils#I swear that goof from that one animated short from madtv gets me practically every single time

Love this colorization of one of the most fan favorite Spy vs. Spy shorts from MADtv. Love that menacing look on Black's face, and of course his attire here, as I had mentioned before, is so badass.
“Heeeeeeehhh…” 😏🎱
#spy vs spy#black spy#not my art#not my fanart#colorization#billiards#billiards attire#I'm never gonna get over about how badass black's attire here is on top of that menacing look on his face#is it just me or does a good chunk of the second season of the spy vs spy from madtv seem to be really popular?#madtv

Judging by the images provided, it turns out that Black being underpaid isn't the only reason he has financial issues. He has actually been scammed by White at least a few times. Not only has White stolen money from Black, but he has also scammed him at any given opportunity. Despite all of that, Black has been blatantly abused by his leader in at least a couple comics. Either way, my newest headcanon is that White Spy is a money-hungry scam artist.

It's always "Black is underpaid", but never "White spy is stealing his money".
#spy vs spy#black spy#white spy#black not being paid enough isn't the sole cause of his financial issues#considering what we have seen in four out of the five images here white has actually scammed black#so not only is white a thief but he is likely a scam artist too

That first one, the fact that Black folded White up neatly and then casually shredded him like that gets me every time. Savage.
As for the second one, I think what you said about Black's parents probably might make sense. Either way, that particular panel definitely warms my heart quite a bit.

1: Imagine being folded up like origami by your nemesis (wow Black folded him really neatly)
2: Probably reading way too into the fact that his parents are wearing gray instead of black because then I think of Gray Spy. Crazy story idea where they’re former Black spies that retired and live in a neutral zone cause they no longer wanna participate in the war but they keep their hats on in support of their spy son… I’m delusional that makes no sense-

What's up? It's me, Ari. Imagine going to an Oceanographic Study Center, Environmental Study Center, a local or even a major aquarium, or whatever and seeing this:

My adrenaline levels would skyrocket and at the end of the day, I'd try as hard as possible to avoid bursting out laughter. This is pretty much my favorite fish, I guess.

So, I've been re-reading the comics for the first time in a billion years in between writing for fun/inspiration, and among this big collection I'm reading, there's this super cool giant illustration of various ways the spies try to do each other in.
And then there's this bit.
#ikr#keep in mind that prohias did have a little bit of a habit of drawing detailed asses#I'm definitely not the only one who has noticed that image that's for sure

I've definitely come across this many before. You won't believe this, but there's apparently a colored version here on the internet, too. Here: https://www.artsy.net/artist/antonio-prohias
LOL at the many ways the spies do each other here.

black spy being a jokester is a headcanon that lives in my head rent free
#spy vs spy#black spy#white spy#not my fanart#not my art#I agree 100% with your headcanon about black being a jokester#I can definitely see black being a total wise-ass#based on his youthful and playful nature (if you know what I mean) that probably makes sense

That would make sense.
So...
Everyone knows that Antonio Prohias has other characters. And one of them is "La Mujer Siniestra" (The Sinister Woman)

so not long ago I found one sketch with her

I don't know if this was drawn before or after it was published, but she looks gorgeous.

What's up, it's me, Ari. This may be a bit of a personal ramble, but I cannot help but say that I have had a strange obsession (and crush) on these two dudes for about a year and a half now.

(Screenshots were taken from MADtv).
I can't help but get quite a bit of an adrenaline rush whenever I check out the animated shorts from MADtv and/or check out the paperback strips, a good deal of which I personally wish were made into animated shorts for MADtv way back when. Then again, some of them from the first three paperback books were, from what I realized. Yes, I am one of those folks who wished there were new shorts for season three instead of rerunning the two seasons of the shorts through season five (unless I'm mistaken). There were plenty of ideas to go around and I personally believe that several strips from The Fourth Declassified Files of Spy vs. Spy would have been perfect for season three, along with some select strips from Spy vs. Spy the Follow-Up Files (other than the Tall Bed and Cat's Cradle strips/shorts, from season two), and of course some of the magazine strips plus a few of the one panel opening gags.
Anyway, I was first exposed to these two goofy, cheeky, demented weirdos was thanks to the Mountain Dew commercials, which aired when I was just seven years old, and some of the animated shorts from MADtv, courtesy of my two older sisters because they were fans of some of the live-action characters of the show, especially Stuart Larkin. From what I remember, MADtv frequently aired reruns of their older seasons on Comedy Central when I was a kid in the 2000s.
I don't know why, but whenever I watch the MADtv shorts or check out the magazine and/or the paperback strips (regardless of era), I personally tend to get a mixture of Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner, Ren and Stimpy, Beavis and Butthead (kind of), and even Jackass vibes. Maybe it's their wild, zany, outrageous, and insanely hilarious antics. They may be insane, but at the end of the day, they split my sides.
Thank you for checking out my ramble. Peace.

#spy vs spy#black spy#white spy#antonio prohias#mad magazine#spy vs spy paperbacks#madtv#yes I called the spies 'weirdos' but in an affectionate way#this was some ramble I wanted to get out of my mind#I have been consistently enjoying these guys' antics for about a year and a half now#although my first exposure to the spies was when I was seven years old because of the mountain dew commercials from 2004...#...and some of the animated shorts from MADtv thanks to my two older sisters because they were fans of some of the live-action characters..#...especially Stuart Larkin#I may get a bit of an adrenaline rush whenever I watch the animated shorts from MADtv and/or check out the strips...#...but they do give off a mixture of Wile E. What's up folks? This is Ari. I just felt like sharing something that may be interesting. In regards to the V for Victory trope used in Spy vs. Spy, it started to get progressively used more often starting around the late 70s. In fact, it has been used in at least 90% of Kuper's strips once he took over as the illustrator and writer for the comics 28 years ago. Other than that, I had discovered that the very first time (or more accurately the first two) that trope was used was in two (I think) of the strips from The All New Secret Files of Spy vs. Spy (I could be wrong though), which was released back in 1965. It was later reprinted and rereleased as Danger! Intrigue! Stupidity! in 2009, in case some of you guys may not notice.
Here:

This was when Black Spy thought he defeated White Spy, (spoiler in progress) only for White to emerge from the missile (or bomb) and literally kick Black into the water.

Now this one here was where the V for Victory usage was legit for the first time in the franchise's run.
This was a fun fact (I guess) I wanted to share with y'all today. Peace.
I do not claim ownership of any content. Spy vs. Spy belongs to MAD magazine and Antonio Prohias.
#spy vs spy#black spy#white spy#antonio prohias#mad magazine#spy vs spy paperbacks#v for victory#v for victory trope#I personally think spy vs spy's tv tropes page really seems to be in need of some expansion as far as information goes#in case you're wondering why the images I provided are in really good quality...#...I edited the brightness the contrast and the saturation of them on my phone#thanks for understanding#strange that two strips from the very first paperback book utilized the v for victory trope

I don't know why, but Black looks rather badass here:

I swear, that captain, or admiral, or whatever the hell that hat is looks pretty neat on him. What makes this even more fascinating is that this was from one of the two paperback books that were illustrated by Bob Clarke. Just something I wanted to get off of my chest.

#spy vs spy#black spy#spy vs spy paperbacks#bob clarke#boy does black look so badass here#ya think black wearing gloves in at least a couple of strips made him look cool...#...that's absolutely true but that captain or admiral (whatever the hell it is) hat on him looks pretty sick

Apparently, it seems that White has something up his sleeve this time. I just love it when Prohias's artstyle is replicated perfectly. You know what I mean.
