A guy rushes towards them, not happy about being disrupted. Miles expected some hand to hand, looked forward to it actually, but he’s pulled backwards by Michael, who takes the punch instead. It catches him by surprise since Miles isn’t a lightweight, but Michael’s pulling from Mogar by the way he throws another guy into the wall.

He grins. “On it!” The first guy rushes towards him, but he vaults over him and heads towards the bomb. 

He scans the device, counting wires, figuring out what makes it work. It’s not a huge one, just enough to send the place down. There’s no timer on it, but he can see the explosives cap, so that’s a plus. It’s not attached to the wall with anything, so the easiest thing would be to remove it and detonate it elsewhere. Bad guys weren’t considerate enough to have a nice big red timer for them. Downside is unless one of the guy’s talks, they don’t know how long the timer’s for.

“We need to know how long the timer is. Think you can get one of them to talk?” He asks over the hustle of the fight.

Miles isn’t sure the bodyguards will let them upstairs (he’s not even sure what kind of building this is anyway, not like there is precious jewels upstairs or anything) but after a flash of paper from Michael, they let them by with barely a suspicious glance. 

If they couldn’t find it, they’d have to evacuate the building, ruining the very thing they were trying to prevent. “I’m not sure either. If they put it inside a wall or something, that’ll make it harder to find. Once we find it, we’ll have a bigger problem on our...” 

There. The scent of explosives distracted him, and he narrowed in on it. He was out of the door, ignoring Michael to stay focused on the scent. He went past one, two, four, eight doors until the scent was the strongest. 

He opened the door and froze, coming face to face to three men, one of which was putting something very bomb-like on the wall.  Whoops.

Miles gets an elbow in the side and a glare from Michael. He sighs, and lowers his hand, resigning himself to his nose burning. The number of people makes his skin crawl, but he’s on a mission, and maybe he’ll score some food.

After a glare from the bodyguards, they two of them pass through the doors, into the much more dangerous location. He nods at the suggestion of splitting up, and after setting his watch, he heads straight for the downstairs. Every movie has them set downstairs, so it makes sense to check their first. There’s bodyguards at every door, who triple check everything, but he’s let through. 

Once the mess of perfumes starts to dissipate, he starts exploring. He can still hear the hundreds of conversations above him, but it’s easier to ignore now. 

He doesn’t smell any explosives at first, which isn’t unusual. Some of them ‘tick’, some don’t, but he doesn’t hear anything either. He’s searching harder, checking under and behind things just to be sure. Miles realizes after pound of dust falls on him, that he’s literally become a bomb sniffing dog. 

His watch goes off, and he does his best to wipe the dust off. From the looks of the door bodyguards, he failed.  

He reconvenes with Michael, shaking his head at the question. “There’s nothing downstairs. I need to check upstairs, which by default means they are much bigger explosives, right?”

There’s cameras flashing all over the place once they exit the limo, and unlike Michael with his Lazer Team red carpets, this is quite a bit different from RTX. The number of people sends a growl through his chest. No one hears it over the shutters or applause from other celebrities, but he’s just as alert. Bomb threat or not, this was a huge number of people crowding around. He’s avoided crowds for most of his life, and this feels less like hero-ing than he wanted, but he didn’t have much of a choice. 

He was lucky his only suit was up to par, but the difference in effort between the two of them is apparent. His own tie is loose, since the idea of a knot tied around his neck is uncomfortable enough without the threat of Shifting if needed. Michael looks like a uprising star. He looks more like the tag along bodyguard, which works for him. 

The cameras turn to them for a few seconds, but they must deem the new arrivals unworthy since they turn away (thankfully). Michael voices his thoughts, which Miles wholeheartedly agrees with as he chuckles. 

He pinches his nose as a woman walks by, smelling like she swam in perfume, coughing at the taste of it. Jesus. “I have a feeling we’re only going to hate it more inside. Let’s get this over with before I lose my sense of smell entirely.”

Michael, as someone who hails from New Jersey, has seen a lot of shit in his life. As a superhero, he has seen even more shit in his life. People who are made of bees, a psychopath whose power is to heal people. And he’s heard shit like this happen before but never actually close enough for him to do something about it.

With his hair slicked back and his nails actually done, Michael looked like he was about to go to another Lazer Team premiere, one in the fancy venues of Hollywood where Burnie would be kissing director ass and Gavin would be competing with people who have the same net worth. However, this wasn’t a premiere, this was a gala with a bomb threat and no one except for the two most uncultured swine were on duty.

typical day for miles

While it was been a while since he’d hunted with a pack, he’d spent more time on his own lately, so having the backup of a giant dragon could only be appreciated. 

While the two of them didn’t hunt as much as one would think, they worked together three times as much. So when a smoke screen overtook the forest, it wasn’t hard to track down the confused deer. 

He took one down and let the rest scatter, waiting for Kerry to catch up with him.

Kerry could feel his dragon body at his fullest peak, flying all the way to the clouds before peeking his head back to the ground. He saw Miles take one deer down, and made a mental note of where it went to get later.  He quickly soared through the trees to catch up with the herd and miles. He saw the werewolf gaining speed to get another prey from their herd, to which Kerry stepped in. He saw 3 potential prey towards and right back of the heard, so using his roar and a bit of his smoke he created a bit of a smoke screen that would confused the herd, but not enough for miles to be blinded by it. Then he spilt the herd into to peices once more, so Miles could do his work.

There’s a real hyper-focus that comes into play when the hunt is on. Just like his ancestors before him, his hunting skills aren’t dulled by time. He might be stiff in the joints, but the instinct overrules all as the chase was on. The few he singled out took off, but he could match their speed. 

It was a short race, and he won when he took one deer down.  He had a good chunk of weight more than the deer, which showed when the two of them went tumbling. 

Once he’s sure the first one is down and staying down, he breaks back into a sprint to see if he can catch up with the rest of them. The smell of blood is strong so between the two of them they’d be able to find the first deer with no problem. 

It’s only a minute before he’s back on their trail, gaining on them.

Once Miles set off to do his part, Kerry jumped and flew up in the air. Silently, he waited circling around the ares waiting for his queue, when Miles was stalking a few of the bucks. He lured them farther way from the herd, and Kerry knew it was his chance. 

He zeroed in on the rest of the herd and he launched down to the ground and circle the herd. Keeping an eyes out for miles he distracted the herd to run in an opposite direction, hope to give the werewolf enough time to strike.

Always bittersweet when RWBY finishes up.

“Sounds as good as any. Not like we have to worry about messing up between the two of us.” Kerry spread his wings out, and that was all he needed, before taking off into the brush towards the herd. 

The bonus of being larger than a normal wolf was the added speed. The downside was any prey could see you coming, but that didn’t matter with a dragon backup. The herd stayed together mostly, but a few stragglers broke off, and he focused his attention there, giving chase.

“That is fine by me, you herd the two deers , while I’ll swoop down to chase the other deer away. And i say we do it right now, How about that?” Kerry asked as he spread out his wing to full width and prepared for flight. He was ready to go, all he needed was the signal from Miles.

“They might scram and make it harder to find the herd later. Not that it’ll be too much harder for us, but we might as well. I mean, just seems the more logical choice.” He can’t quite pull off a shrug like this, but he can get the point across. “I saw we do, and do it fast before they pick up the scent of us.”

“Yeah, I’m going to be good with one for now. but if you want to do 2 I’ll be down with that too.” He said shrugging. two kills would be more satisfying, but there will be other times to get prey. Any choice would be good for him he thought to himself.

Gimme a couple more years and my aging will slow down, no big deal. Or it already has. Can't be sure.

“You gonna be good with one deer? Between the two of us I think we can handle another one.” Kerry could eat one whole if he wanted to, and being in dragon mode meant more food needed. Wasn’t like they weren’t going to eat all of it or anything.

“Yeah yeah, i know. And I say we pick the weak one and you go for the kill while I’ll scare the rest off, what do you think about that?” he asked as swished his tail.  He knew even though he was bigger, Miles was much faster and would be able to get the kill fast. And with his big size he could scare away other animals as well as the rest of herd of deer.
