I was also thinking that the original plot would be similar in the modern au. Instead its just Hugo as a Highschool boy discovering his powers and loki is prisoned underneath the city or something, so Hela being a mercenary having secret motives would be so cool. A little rant about Osbern, so obliviously spoilers ahead.

And I know there's only the first season and some stuff most likely will be developed in the second one, but since there is no second season yet, so I'm gonna yap about it all I want.

First of all, that man should've died. You can call me a hater, but that man serves no function so far whatsoever. Plus if he died in the final fight, that would've shown how cruel Loki is, and that he's actually a menace. Alas, that loser got a few scratches, sucked hard and died. Bitch is all about barking, no bite...

Second, what was the reason of stating Osbern died in the first place? Hugo could've known that Osbern was captured, but not sure where he is precisely and Urd's well might've shown him THAT. So in one of his adventures he saves his mentor and later they have some quality time together, that would show the bond they have. That would actually make Osbern's death more dramatic and give a room for Hugo's development in the future.

"But that way he wouldn't have learned that hatred is not the answer!" Well shit, that could be shown in different ways. They literally (as far as I understand) burned down his home and forced his family to separate - that's already enough reasons to hate someone. Or they could somehow hurt his new found family - there's lotta ways. Maybe it's not as impactful as the death of your closest one, but should've kept Osbern dead then idk.
