Summer time is kinda weird for me. In some ways, I'm working less that I do during the rest of the year, and in some ways I'm working more. But I also feel weirdly capable of picking up Projects.
One project I started at the beginning of the summer was the development of a consistent skincare routine. This meant buying some new products and figuring out a way to organize them. I absolutely hate countertop clutter, so I needed to find an organizer that would do what I wanted without being physically or visually imposing.
I ended up cobbling together a couple of different things.

I needed something with tiers and a small/medium footprint. I also needed drawers tall enough to fit the larger jars. I bought a three-tiered organizer that had the right drawers and footprint, but I knew I would need to swap out the top tier. Most beauty organizers have a lot of very small compartments on top to accommodate lipsticks and nail polish. Those compartments are largely useless for my purposes. So I bought a separate topper that I thought would work better and planned to use the original one to organize things on my nightstand.
But the compartments on the substitute weren't quite the right size/layout either. So I ended up putting my original organizer on top.
I'm really satisfied with how it turned out!
I also set up a "towel station" on this rod/shelf thing next to my sink.

It holds face towels, tissues, a jar of reusable bamboo rounds, and a mesh bag to put the used ones in. Much better than the dead space that was going on before.
I used the topper that originally came with the drawers to organize my nightstand. Now my eye drops and lip balm won't keep rolling off!

I used the spare topper to organize supplies in my home office.

Everything is sitting on a wire shelf, so before I was layering things horizontally and couldn't use the vertical space. This seems like it's going to be a more useful layout. The one sticker book is a little too large to fit in the slot, but I'm trying to use that one up.
Not bad for a quick after work project!

I’m paying to force seven thousand strangers to see a photo of my late husband having fun with his dog. Tumblr Blaze is totally worth it. XD

Tonight's tasty dinner brought to you by--holy-shit-I-managed-to-cook-at-my-own-home--some miracle of executive function.
I'm settling back in after being away for what is kinda-sorta my second job. Fortunately on my way back, I was able to get produce from my favorite cheap-as-hell, middle-of-nowhere farm stand. So I felt extra compelled to cook some things up tonight.
Here we have:
Fresh butter beans with sweet onions and bacon
A nicely chewy rice-lentil-mushroom blend
Sweet stewed tomatoes
Chorizo sausage with onion (one of my freezer prep items)
It turned out really tasty. I really do love fresh butter beans. I actually think they're really fun to shell, but these were already shelled.
