We had an extraordinary visit to the AKG Art Museum in Buffalo with our oldest grandson to see what can only be described as an amazing collection of works dating back to the 1700s. The newly renovated facility is one of the most modern museums for art in the world and a must visit for anyone coming to the Buffalo area. In fact, Time Magazine cited the facility as a go to destination for 2024.

There is a special exhibit at the Albright Knox Art Gallery (AKG Art Museum) in Buffalo featuring the artistic creations of Marisol, a multi-talented artist who produced statues, paintings and audio visual works during her life. Following her death in 2016, she donated all her works and papers to the Buffalo art gallery, which was the first museum to ever acquire one of her art pieces. She has an extraordinary collection and no doubt much of it will be permanently displayed at the newly renovated art museum in Buffalo.

Images of the 2024 Summer Solstice Strawberry Moon in Fort Erie. This year鈥檚 summer solstice comes with a treat: the first full moon of the summer, coined the strawberry moon. The moon isn't always pink or red in color: Its name comes from several Indigenous tribes who noticed that its timing coincided with the strawberry harvest.

The building in Buffalo, New York, now the Buffalo History Museum, was constructed as the pavilion for the State of New York during the Pan American Exposition where President William McKinley was assassinated on September 14, 1901. On display are artifacts from Native settler, items from the pioneer area before the city was incorporated, displays related to the War of 1812-1815, the industrial development of Buffalo and its boom to a modern city. They also have the death mask of President Abraham Lincoln and a full size replica of the statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. Buffalo - New York (USA)

Interesting exhibit at the Buffalo History Museum - the death mask of President Abraham Lincoln, moulded soon after his assassination on Apr. 14, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth at the Ford Theatre in Washington, D.C. It was common prior to photographic techniques, to produce plaster casts of historical figures to capture their facial features and hands. These masks allowed artists and sculptors to produce accurate images of such people in paintings and statues for future generations to see how they looked in real life. (New York, USA)
