'I can’t get enough of myself,' Kell would answer, even though he was never looking at himself—not all of himself anyway—only his eye. His right one. Even in Red London, where magic flourished, the eye set him apart. Marked him always as other."

Just finished this one and I couldn't decide which one to post, so here's both versions of this drawing, a throwback to the second chapter because I'm rereading it in english this time and I came across this little snippet. I had to draw it because this scene represents perfectly the Maresh brothers mood.

I already started the next scene (which is from Agos), but for some reason I have the feeling that I won't be able to finish it till the end of the month. I'll do best, but it's a quite hard scene to illustrate.

And I also added one more scene of the beginning of Adsom, which will be in the comic format, and I expect to post before the scene of Agos, but idk yet.

A Darker Shade of Magic, Part XIV - CH I - V. E. Schwab

"Kell nodded and led her to the courtyard wall. He made a mark on the pale stones and dug the Red London coin from his pocket. And then he pulled Lila close, wrapped his broken body around hers, and tipped his forehead against hers.

'Hey, Lila,' he said softly into the space between them.

'Yeah?'

He pressed his mouth to hers for one brief moment, the warmth there and then gone. She frowned up at him, but did not pull away.

'What was that for?' she asked.

'For luck,' he said. 'Not that you need it.'

And then he pressed his hand against the wall and thought of home."

I don't know why, but I feel like I wanna cry every time I look for too long at this scene. Idk if it's because I'm really proud of how it turned out or if it's because this is the end of book one. Who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did I change the "he led her to the courtyard wall" to "she helped him get to the courtyard wall"? Yes. This how I imagined, so fuck the original description.

I'm thinking about fixing some mistakes of the second scene that I made and repaint the second panel of the first, because I look back at it and I just can't like them that much 😩. I'll update it when I get the time to do it.

Also, updating my critic about the fashion description in the books: I'm rereading it again and I noticed that in the very beginning V. E. explains how, not only fashion but life itself, works in Red London, with constant changes along with the seasons. So, I take back everything I've said before and I was pretty correct by pointing that they live in a different world, so fashion may be a little more advanced than in ours. Realizing it also helped me to get more confidence on my designs of their clothes, so from now on I'll be mixing fashion of the beginning of the 19th century with fashion of the end. I think it's looking pretty good from what I've done so far.

A Darker Shade of Magic, Part VIII - CH II - V. E. Schwab

"Lila drew closer, so close their ribs were touching and he could feel her heart racing through them. She was so good at hiding it, her fear. It didn’t show in her eyes, or the lines of her face, but her pulse betrayed her. And then Lila’s lips tugged into a grin, and Kell wondered if it was fear she felt after all, or something else entirely.

'I’m not going to die,' she said. 'Not till I’ve seen it.'

'Seen what?'

Her smile widened. 'Everything.'

Kell smiled back. And then Lila brought her free hand to his jaw and tugged his mouth toward hers. The kiss was there and then gone, like one of her smiles.

'What was that for?' he asked, dazed.

'For luck,' she said, squaring her shoulders to the wall. 'Not that I need it.'

Kell stared at her a moment and then forced himself to turn toward the bloodstained bricks. He tightened his hand over hers, and he brought his fingers to the mark.

'As Travars,' he said.

The wall gave way, and the traveler and the thief stepped forward and through."

The first kiss we never forget.

The greatest thing of this scene is that I wasn't expecting the kiss or the super natural way that Kell dealt with it. It made me scream.

I won't lie, I added 3 more scenes of Acol that I want to illustrate, but only one of them is coming in the comic format. So, now I have 20 more comic pages and 3 paintings to work on (and I think I'll probably be adding more in the future because I seem to like to make myself suffer)

Also, my classes at college start back today and it means that I won't have much time to work on my illustrations, so the next scenes will probably take a little longer to come out 😭

Fortunately, next scene is only two pages and will probably take less time to render, so I'll try to post it as soon as I can.

"His eyes flicked from Lila’s face to her hand and back to her face. And then he lunged. He moved so fast, an instant, a blink, and he was upon her. The stone tumbled from Lila’s grip as the Kell that wasn’t Kell slammed her back against the wall. His mouth opened to speak, but before he could, his hands dissolved—he dissolved—suddenly back into smoke, and then into nothing, and Lila found herself face-to-face with the Kell that was Kell, his bloody hand raised to the place where the illusion had been, his command—As Anasae—still echoing through the room."

Scene 1/3 of ADSOM.

I said I had done 22 pages, but in total there are only 8 scenes. 3 are from the first book, 1 from the second, and the rest are all spoilers of the third (including the final scene that ends the book). So yeah, I'm already saying that for those who haven't read/are reading it, you have to be careful with spoilers, because I don't give shit.

Wish me luck so I can finish this series of illustrations, because I'm going to need it 🥲

And yes, I simply decided to ignore my fashion designer side and the historical fashion accuracy to follow the descriptions in the books, with the excuse that they live in different worlds than ours, so fashion can be, or not, a little more advanced than the beginning of the 19th century that we know (perhaps more towards the end, which is what I based most on to make these fanarts, but I'll probably be changing and testing what they wear as I illustrate the next pages).

And I'm not even going to say anything about the fashion descriptions in the books because I've already talked about it on my personal account.

"And then, the black-eyed Kell began to move. He shrugged off his coat and tossed it onto the nearest chair. And then, Kell watched with horror as his echo began to unfasten his tunic, one button at a time.

Kell gave a small, strangled laugh. 'You’ve got to be kidding me.' Lila only smiled and rolled the stone in her palm as the Kell that wasn’t Kell slid slowly, teasingly, out of his tunic and stood there, bare chested."

It's been a while since my last post here and well, my new obsession is V. E. Schwab's Shades of Magic Trilogy and man, I'm in love with it. It's so perfect I ask myself how could I stay all this time of my life without knowing about this series existence?? I fell in love with master Kell just by reading the synopses and he's so damn perfect!!

Of course I had to draw him.

This is just the first illustrations I did back in February. I still have about 22 more comic pages of illustrated scenes to come and some more attempts at concept arts. I have to enjoy it while I'm in the hype, otherwise it won't come out.

I did a test of painting the last drawing in watercolor and I'm not satisfied, it looks better with simple painting, but whatever.

Encanto - What If? Part 2

What if Dolores and Mariano had an affair while he's married to Isabela?

A/N: It took me a while, but here it is. This was supposed to be a fanfic but I got too lazy to write, so I decided to stay only with the illustrations.

So here's the ideia: This is right after Isabela falls asleep. Mariano decides to go to the kitchen to drink some water and he finds Dolores there with a glass in her hands. There's an awkward conversation about his marriage obligations or something, and then he'll just start flirting with her until they're almost fucking in the kitchen

In my mind Luisa came into the kitchen to drink some water and they had to hide themselves in the broom closet, and there Mariano simply penetrated Dolores and made she hit the door and cause a little noise that caught Luisa's attention. When she's about to open the closet's door, Dolores whispers begging to Casita to help them and Casita just throw a cat from the roof, and it hits some trash cans while making a loud cat noise before it runs away, startling Luisa and making her sigh in relief and get back to her room. That's when Mariano and Dolores get out of the closet and go to her room to finish what they've started.
