council:

- silly guy

- beloved councillor

- friendly

- extravert

- charismatic

post pyro ban:

- extreme self-hatred & guilt

- depression

- ignored/shunned by his family and remaining friends (including the councillors)

- tries to avoid social events & gatherings

- can’t sleep without a sedative

- ptsd

- abandonment trauma

- scars (both physical and emotional)

- scared of his own power

neverseen:

- hatred shifts more toward the council

- angry

- insomnia

- vulnerability/intimacy issues

- trust issues; paranoid

- delusional at times

- impulsive

- gaze that can be described as weird and off-putting

- eye & other face twitches (but is otherwise still capable of displaying a calm expression)

- when it comes to things regarding his past, he will either be dismissive (i.e. old friends, good deeds, councillor adornments, etc.) or possessive (i.e. noxflares)

prison:

- extreme self-hatred returns (amplified by the fact that the walls of the ice prison reflect his own face back at him 24/7) but that doesn’t cancel out his hatred for the council, either. basically he hates everyone now (which isn’t really new… but he’s more aware of it at this point)

- depression also returns

- remorseful, but only for some of his actions (can’t feel too guilty, after all)

- sleeps curled up in a tight little ball to conserve heat (on the rare occasions where he actually DOES sleep)

- permanent dark circles

- physically weak but is still able to strengthen his mental defenses

- absentmindedly rubs or scratches his arms for the warmth the friction provides (bonus points if he accidentally breaks the skin because the blood is even warmer)

- finds himself wiggling his fingers a lot to sort of mimic pyrokinesis

- basically every muscle & nerve is prone to random twitching at this point

- restless but also exhausted at the same time

- still capable of being a manipulative sly little bitch

Anyways, I have a theory that Keepblr typically thinks that the series is too mature for ages 8-12 because Keepblr is mostly composed of teens, and differences in ages feel more extreme when you're younger. Like adults tend to view ages 12 and 14 as fairly similar in maturity, but if you're 14, you're going to view a 12 year old as a little kid, and yourself as fairly mature. So if you, as a 14 year old, as a teenager, feel like Keeper is a reasonable level of maturity for you, you're probably going to assume that it's too mature for a 12 year old, even if it's not. Same would apply for older teens too.

ok ik I just posted about the cover buttt-

in the new cover keefe is just looking at the “camera” w some people and an ominous looking (alvar pretty please) guy in the back. but like all the other covers have been scenes from the book

so in conclusion there is going to be a seen in the book where keefe just poses at an imaginary camera as alvar stalks him

unit 919 random hc!!!

- thaddea has a gym membership. tries to get anah to join her when she goes to the gym but anah usually stands there and watches her. struggles with her hair so always asks anah for help.

-hawthorne sometimes bakes. he’s not great at it, but he enjoys it. gets his siblings to try his stuff. specifically likes baking cupcakes.

- lambeth does yoga every morning. she loves herbal tea too. she loves incense. and gold jewellry.

- cadence secretly listens to showtunes. her fav movie is girl interrupted because she loves winona ryder movies (me too).

- mahir is apart of a book club. he goes every thursday. drinks loads of coffee. loves watching movies. watches atleast one every night.

- anah gives herself a pep talk in the mirror every day. she also loves watercolour paintings. and rabbits.

- archan also goes to mahirs book club. they give eachother book recommendations. he also loves herbal tea. his guilty pleasure is rom coms.

- francis is always trying out new recipes and asks unit 919 for recipe ideas. also he has loads humidifiers in his room.

- morrigan loves candles. almost set fire to her room once though. as she usually does. and there is a stray cat that comes to her window every day and she feeds it.

Ancients Week 2024 (!!!)

Welcome to Ancients Week 2024! This is a KOTLC fan-week dedicated to Ancient elves — because the concept of elves old enough to remember the very distant past is deeply fascinating, and because I love the Ancients. This event will be running from July 7th to July 14th 2024 (so a week and an extra day, but we'll call it a week for simplicity's sake). This is the first time I'm running this event (and, for that matter, any fandom event), so please be kind if I mess up somewhere. I'll try not to :)

DO NOT USE AI. NONE WHATSOEVER. I'm being serious. (although I'm pretty sure anyone won't, it doesn't hurt to state it outright)

No negativity on others' posts! We're all here to have fun.

Questions I Anticipate Getting

What can I make?

Anything! Fanfic, fanart, headcanons, meta, memes, incorrect quotes, dashboard simulators (those fake dashboard things), whatever — nothing is out of bounds!

Whom/what can I make something about?

Ancients! You can make any kind of fan piece about any and all Ancients, including implied/textual-ghost Ancients (like Bronte's mother, or Fintan's dead friends, who would have been Ancient had they survived into the modern day), characters you headcanon as Ancient, Ancient OCs, and even younger characters written as Ancients, so long as your piece involves an Ancient or is Ancients-centric somehow. So basically, go wild and have fun!

When will prompts be up?

If I stay on schedule, prompts should be up on (or in the week of, depending on what's going on) May 1st 2024. In the meantime, I'd love it if you could send prompt suggestions to this blog! I can only put seven prompts up but, I'd love to hear your ideas!

Do I have to complete every prompt or post every day?

No, you do not have to complete every prompt, or post every day! Feel free to post late, skip days, ignore the prompts, combine the prompts and so forth — do only as much as you want to. Remember, Ancients Week is a fun little thing and also a state of mind not bound by petty things like dates. (And I'd genuinely be delighted if I saw new ideas I hadn't considered and new posts in the tag even months later.)

How do I tag my works?

I will be tracking the #ancients week 2024 tag, so please tag your fanworks with that! You can also tag @ancientsweek in your post. All the posts I find will be reblogged to this blog.

Can I post my works elsewhere?
