ONLINE NOW: 18x Ornellaia L'Incanto 2012 Bolgheri Superiore (3x 6-bottles OWC). • Robert Parker: 94 points & worldwide the best price! • The 2012 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia is very similar to the 2011 Ornellaia that precedes it. These were both hot vintages, but 2012 saw the heat towards the end of the growing season. In fact the harvest in 2012 came two weeks earlier than average. This seamless blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (56%), Merlot (27%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petit Verdot (7%) shows some of the roundness and softness of that summer heat. The wine's density and extraction are spot-on and the bouquet is beautifully shaped by dark cherry nuances with spice, leather and tobacco at the back. There is a gorgeous sense of richness and plushness here. Some 160,000 bottles were produced. Chateau Hosanna, formerly Chateau Certan-Giraud, is a Bordeaux wine from the appellation Pomerol. The winery is located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux wine region, in the commune of Pomerol in the department Gironde. As all wine produced in this appellation, Chateau Hosanna is unclassified, but Certan-Giraud has historically been estimated among the great crus of the region. The property is situated south of Château Lafleur, west of Chateau Petrus and north of Vieux Chateau Certan. Sharing its origin with Vieux Chateau Certan and Chateau Certan-de-May, the estate was once part of the original Certan property, belonging to the de May family before the French Revolution. For a period, the wine was sold as Chateau Certan-Marzelle, until it was acquired by the Giraud family in 1956, and was renamed Certan-Giraud. The estate was included into the portfolio of Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix when it was acquired by Christian Moueix in 1999, at which point the Giraud family asked that the Giraud name no longer be used. Considering renaming it Chateau Certan, Moueix consulted with the neighboring properties also bearing the Certan name, and while the Thienponts at Vieux Chateau Certan had no objections, Madame Bareau-Bader of Chateau Certan-de-May disapproved. The property was then divided into Hosanna, and the smaller plot producing Chateau Certan Marzelle. • Robert M. Parker Jr. rated the Hosanna 2004 with 90+ points. Best of the best Vintage Port arrived: Taylor's Fladgate Vintage Port 1992 - 100 Parker Points (in OWC). • “Taylor's 1992 Vintage Port is unquestionably the greatest young port I have ever tasted. It represents the essence of what vintage port can achieve. The color is an opaque black/purple, and the nose offers up fabulously intense aromas of minerals, cassis, blackberries, licorice, and spices, as well as extraordinary purity and penetration. Yet this is still an unformed and infantile wine. If Chateau Latour made a late-harvest Cabernet Sauvignon, I suspect it might smell like this. In the mouth, the wine is out of this world, displaying layer upon layer of concentrated black fruits backed by well-integrated tannin and structure. This is a massive, magnificently rich, full-bodied port that will be far more flattering in its youth than were such Taylors as the 1983, 1977, or 1970. It possesses awesome fruit, marvelous intensity, and lavish opulence, all brilliantly well-delineated by the wine's formidable structure. This monumental 30-50 year port is a must purchase for port aficionados.! Also noteworthy is the fact that the 1992 Taylor commemorates the 300th anniversary of this firm, as evidenced by the special bottle Taylor used for this port - 100 Parker Points.” Reviewed by Robert M.
