BLACK LONG SKIRT by Hoji Tsuchiya! Cut out stop motion animation, really loved so many details and clever solutions - the way the car is hinged like a little snake hehe, and the rain on the window… but soooo taken by surprise and in love with the overlapping technique, done in a way in which the later frames appear to dissolve, like ink stains?? Apparently it was done by photocopying the cutout puppet and then overlapping a new puppet on top of the copy, taking a photocopy and then overlapping again and again. The images will naturally start to fade (like a jpeg file will become corrupted by saving it lots of times….but analog! Genius….)
Great homemade music too, composed by the animator!

Really enjoyed Jeanette Fantone’s workshop on after effects and post edition. Never really considered one could like, shade and add lighting and colour as an effect. Thought most people did embedded shading, like usually seen in anime cells! But mostly I enjoyed Jeanette’s enthusiasm and sense of wonder in her work flow. Live demos are great for learning technical stuff but also see people having fun with their craft ~
