[Grey attempted to block every hit, twisting their axe handle, the harder hitting attacks, indeed, forcing them to back up. Their eyes darted around, shoulders stiffening, and for a moment, Grey forgot who she was- she felt the need to run, to hide, a bone-deep instinct that made her freeze.]

[Luckily, the pause wasn't for long. The next swing jolted her to reality, though not without the consequences of lost ground and a loosened grip on her axe. Going without combat for such a prolonged period had made him forget how he needed to train herself to fight and not fawn.]

[Grey checks her watch, tapping her foot impatiently. She's donned armor, preferring leather over the flashy metal stuff used by idiots and broads, battle axe on standby.]

[He wasn't particularly sure how long this was going to take, but they were a busy (wo)man, with other places to be, and this idiot was late. How dare he? I mean really, barging into someone's life and demanding a position and then showing up late for the interview. Unacceptable. Men are so audacious, Grey thought.]

[After a few more moments, Grey sighs one more time, preparing to beckon someone over and begin undressing from the armor. It really hasn't been that long, but being alone for so long in their house has skewed their sense of time, made it unreliable. That or maybe it's the brain chemicals not firing. Either way.] "Stupid idiot is late." [Grey grumbles.] "I don't have time for this-"

[Haunt arrives halfway through that sentence, wearing mostly leather armor with some chainmail pieces. He carries a sword in his hand. The sound of his boots on the ground is what announces his presence.]

“Many apologies for making you wait. Are you sure you’re ready?”
