Reaching number one on the ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 was Kendrick Lamar’s “ Humble” while “ DNA” following behind at number four! Damn is kendrick Lamar’s smallest album, but maybe he’s best yet. For the first time Kendrick Lamar has managed to have all 14 songs on the album to reach the top 100 songs on the ‘Billboard’. In his debut album we learned that kendrick didn't want to be an idol, pop star, or socialist. He was merely a person who has observed his surroundings and is now sharing it with the world.
By his second album G.O.O.D Kid Maad City he declares himself as “ Compton’s human sacrifice”. He speaks of his inevitable lost of innocents due to the violence and poverty that plague him and his family lives. After the quick heighten of his music career Lamar quickly become the idol he never asked or wanted to be.
We learn in his third album To Pimp a Butterfly that kendrick was struggling with the acceptance of the society we live in today. He covers issues that many rappers fail to cover like police brutality, racism, and other barriers that hurt the black community. He reveals what its like to be black in america, and speaks of his own feelings of rage, self- doubt and alienation. Struggling with adjusting to fame, Kendrick calls himself a anti-social extrovert a real self battling contradiction.
In Damn we hear a more masterpiece of rap, full of expensive beats, furious rhymes, and peerless storytelling about Kendrick’s destiny in America. Rather a critical approach Lamar present himself as accepting to what the world has to offer. He’s more cheerful and optimistic of everything the black community has to offer.
Lamar recently announced his summer tour promoting the album, which kicks off July 12 in Phoenix.

wow this cartoon is very important to understand. I often sit and watch the news, read articles and blogs that are so opinionated. For me I am very open-minded and can tolerate other opinions, however not everyone has this virtue. Sometime we don’t realize the potential damage the press can cause to people who don’t understand the difference opinions and facts. I know we were taught stick stones may break our bone but words would never hurt us, but truth is , words do hurt. Words are actually what start wars, I can guarantee words were a factor in every disaster our world has face. Words are what hitler used to persuade people to hate others for what they looked like. Now i’m not saying we should go on a censorship rampage, or restrict people from accessing certain things. But sometimes its best to exercise another thing we were taught when we were younger. “ if you don’t have anything good to say, then dont say anything at all”.

Every year we are excited to see our youthful black community show out during prom season. Couples pose with poise and confidence with sometimes flashy colors, bold and detailed sequences that look runway ready! These high school juniors and seniors slay their proms as if they are celebrities on the red carpet, sometimes you find yourself almost asking “ well who are you wearing tonight”. We love to see our youth in such high spirits, and showing off a respectable side of competition.
However, this year one 17-year-old Milan Bolden-Morris of Cardinial-Newman High School in Florida decide to stray away from making a fashion statement. Her dress was made to bring a social awareness synonymous to the Black Lives Matter agenda. Bolden-Morris’s Prom dress was customized to display the photos of several unarmed black men and women who were shot and killed by police. Her dress was elegantly put together, her hair was tamed to perfection with no fly aways, and her smile showed pride and beauty!
Morris and her prom date’s pictures stormed the internet as people retweeted, reblogged, and repost their bold statement. She took the initiative to take this moment that was supposed to be focused on just being a teen and looking beautiful in her final memories of high school to challenge future prom go-ers to take risk and stay woke!
