Ok I've got beef with Rodimus fans for a number of reasons but dear GOD one thing I can't stand is how they shit on Ultra Magnus for that one scene where he tries to activate the Matrix in TFTM "oh he thinks the first time he gets attacked is their darkest hour" "not everything is about you" "he'd be in line at Starbucks for 5 minutes and try to activate the Matrix" I would say I'm going to bite your brain out of your skull but you apparently never had one to start with

Their leader for the last 4 million years has just been murdered, he took up a mantle that he never trained for and the Autobots are being chased by a new, much more powerful leader than Megatron, what few Autobots that haven't been murdered offscreen are literally right behind him with Galvatron fast approaching, or are considered to be dead because their ship went down in flames and there's been no contact. How much fucking darker of an hour can it get?? Like literally every Autobot accounted for at that time was 20 seconds away from getting popped by Galvatron with ONLY UM standing between them. Did you actually watch the MOVIE or did you just watch the scene for the funny+a couple highlights for your babygirl?

Also slight tangent I want to point out the fact that the only reason the Matrix didn't activate there was not because it wasn't "their darkest hour" it's because the plot literally railroaded UM out of being able to activate it so Hot Rod could activate it at the end, because when Optimus was giving the Matrix to UM, Oppy dropped it, and Rodimus reached down to catch it. When he caught it, the Matrix bonded to *him* and the movie made that fucking abundantly clear if you were actually watching it (go back and watch the scene, or watch it for the first time since most of you probably haven't already, you'll see exactly how it happens). UM never had a chance to begin with and it pisses me off so much because people just see him as a punching bag. Admittedly I haven't seen a lot of G1S3 because I stopped caring after TFTM and the way they callously threw out so many fan favorites characters to make room for the new ones but everything that I've seen has UM having to pick up the slack from Rodimus and his imposter syndrome, he doesn't deserve that treatment.
