A quick trick for cosplayers! Spray painted Googly eyes make the best metal rivets! And they come in various sizes for all sized rivets. I have also used dots of just hot glue itself. All the metal rivets on my Hawke cosplay are just silver painted hot glue dots.

This seamless trim technique is a method I’ve been using for years to add custom trim to my costumes without any top-stitching at all. Similar in a way to bias tape, but with many key differences in implementation and results. No one taught me this technique, but now I’m teaching it to you! Please read through all the instructions below before asking any further questions, and happy trim-making! C:

OMG your ombré dye is so seamless! How did you get it like that? Everytime I try it I get those nasty lines in the die and it ends up looking more like stripes :(
thank you so much! yah i really wanted the ombre effect to be as smooth as possible. its a long process but heres what i did
i made a regular batch of RIT dye
get a 2 empty pots or bowls and a ladle
i put about two scoops from the solid dye batch in one bucket and added some water. this will be your light dye
the second bucket i put about 4 scoops from the solid dye batch and added some water. this will be your medium dye
use a test strip if your fabric and dry off. this is important because it will let you know how much of a gradient you will get. if the color is too dark add more water. if a color is too light add more liquid from the solid dye bowl.
once you do that DO NOT WET YOUR FABRIC BEFORE YOU DYE. i know it says so on the package BUT if the fabric is dry it will give the dye a chance to creep up the fabric and it’ll look a lore more seamless
start with the most watered down dye and just bob the fabric up and down for about 15 minutes.
repeat this process for the medium and the solid dyes
when you are finished with all 3 layers do not dump out your dye.
rinse your fabric till the water runs clear.
depending on where this fabric is you have the option of washing it in a washer machine like what the packet will say. if you choose to do this keep in mind that some of the color will wash out so you may have to repeat the dying process to keep the vibrancy of the color.
once youve rinsed or machine washed your fabric put it in the dryer
once your piece is 100% dry you will be able to tell what the colors really looks like and decide if you need to dye your fabric once more.

hope this helps you out!

Here’s a “life-hack” for you. Apparently concentrated Kool-Aid can be used as a pretty effective leather dye. I was making a drink while cutting the snaps off some new straps for my pauldrons and I got curious, so I tried it, thinking, “ok even if this works, it will just wash out.” Nope. It took the “dye” (undiluted) in about 3 seconds. After drying for about an hour and a half, it would not wash off in the hottest tap-water. It would not wash out after soaking for 30 minutes. It did not wash out until I BOILED it, and even then, only by a tiny bit and it gave it a weathered look that was kind of cool. Add some waterproofing and I’d wager it would survive even that. That rich red is only one application too. Plus it smells great, lol. So there you go, cheap, fruity smelling leather dye in all the colors Kool-Aid has to offer.

BOOF! finally got that FtM makeup tutorial out! works for cosplay, or everyday. short, sweet, and more of what to do, and less of why. Mostly just makeup procedure, and some handy tricks to increase the manly.
and for supplementary material, this is the guide that i base 70% of my method on:

(alterations for my method: sharp line cheek contour, no highlight in the inner eye, extended cheek highlights, highlight along the jaw top, as well as shadow on the bottom, darker areas under the eye and in the corner of the eyes.)

3D Printable Cosplay Tools
When most people think about 3D printing and cosplay, they imagine all the fantastic props and costume parts you can make. However, there is a plethora of 3D printable objects that can make your life easier when it comes to custom building cosplays. Here is a long list of items I have discovered that I’m slowly adding to my workshop. Whenever possible, I selected objects that are parametric (aka, they can be edited to fit your specific needs). Bear in mind that there are tons of amazing things you can print like CNC mills, drill-based lathes, looms, animatronics, you name it. I have selected simple, handy items for this list that anyone can print in an afternoon. It is by no means exhaustive, but it should be a good start. Happy printing! <3
