Kagome leaned against the nearest wall once the festivities were over. She looked great, but the way her heels pinched her toes was disastrous.
Inuyasha looked over his shoulder and backtracked, crouching down without a word. He tapped his shoulder, expectant.
"You wanna carry me?"
"I plan on getting home tonight."
She stared at his back; taking the weight off was tempting. Her arms looped his neck before he stood straight, and she shrieked when he leapt from the pavement to balance them along a fence.
He laughed when she clapped a hand over her mouth. "Your place or mine?"

Kagome had planned it. With precisely two hours after work to get ready for a last-minute party, she had the perfect amount of time to shower, do her makeup and tame her hair into something Christmas-appropriate.
If only Inuyasha would stop following her around, kissing her into every soft surface available.
"I have to get ready," she said between breaths.
"We'll be late."
She had a retort; it was on the tip of her tongue. But his lips ghosted along her jawline, his face tucked into her neck, and her attempts to deter him became as feeble as her punctuality.
I think it’s helpful to read these two scenes together for the second one to make emotional sense.
I think Kagome gets upset at InuYasha's comment because, to her, it implies that he thinks she's somehow unaffected, or has overcome her pain. But she hasn't. She's still hurting. And while InuYasha recognizes—and even apologizes for overlooking—Kagome's pain after the fight with Kaō, I don't think he really understands the source or the severity of that pain. Kagome intentionally shields him from the former (when she keeps Kaō from saying who is hurting her), but I think she wants InuYasha to understand the latter, at least to some degree.
Strength can often be a burden. "You're so strong" suggests that the other person does not see—and thus cannot ever help you with—your own struggles. Kagome's outburst is her immediate gut-wrench reaction of, "This isn't easy for me, I'm still feeling and struggling with this, please see that."
The rain pelted down hard, enough for some of the drops to spatter onto the deeply ridged bark of the big tree, which usually has such dense foliage that was near impenetrable.
A peek of silver darted up momentarily, a highlight in the rich green canopy. Just a quick glance through the haze of rain that blanketed the surrounding landscape told the hanyou what he needed to know.

Summary:
What if the shikon jewel didn’t exist and Naraku never came to be? What if Kagome fell down the well anyway and met a gruff, young inu-hanyou. Would they still become friends? What would be their story?
Actually, I think girls in middle school and high school should still feel comfortable having fuzzy pillows and lava lamps and glitter pens and sequin tops and a colorful wardrobe and whatever else they think is pretty or cool. Maybe we shouldn’t, like, try to beat the personality and life out of the youngsters, neither should we expect them to act like anything other than their actual age.

When Inuyasha arrived at her apartment after his shift, Kagome felt the dark cloud looming over his head before she saw him.
"What's wrong?" she asked immediately.
"Nothin'," he grumbled, discarding his shoes.
She zipped her lips – if he wanted to talk about it, he'd crack eventually.
"Work Christmas party," he said after a moment, that look of agitation becoming sheepish. "I'm being hounded into bringing you."
"Oh, well…you know I'd love to."
Inuyasha cringed before he uttered, "It's tomorrow."
"Oh. Oh." She was already up, panic moving her feet to rummage through her closet for something, anything to wear.
SUMMARY: It’s happening: Sango and Miroku are finally tying the knot. But it’s far from a smooth event what with possessive ex-boyfriends and new fiancées, not to mention an incredibly attractive best man. However, Kagome’s troubles only intensify once the wedding is over.
