Sorry I’ve Been Absent
Hello my Loves,
I am so, so sorry that I have been so absent these last few weeks. After my hospital stay, I had to take some time for myself and continue to rest and relax. I’m still pretty weak, but getting stronger by the day. My mom has also been in the hospital, she had a knee replacement surgery, my sister and I were going between here and the hospital in Ripley to visit her while she was there. She is home now and doing well. I’m not telling you all any of these things as excuses, I haven’t been true to what I initially promised you all my blog would offer. That’s completely on me. I am TRULY SORRY! I hope you can forgive me, and you know that I am working to do a much better job from now on. I’m not sure when my next post will be since I’ve missed so many, but it will be no later than this Saturday. My next post is one that is very near and dear to me, I hope you’ll check it out?
Until next time. XOXO
Jennifer

BONUS BLOG!!
I wanted to do something special for you all since I broke a promise. So, I figured I would give you some information about myself and what I hope to accomplish with this blog. Away we go!!
My name is Jennifer. I was born, raised, and still live in small-town West Virginia, the oldest of 2, my sister is nearly 4 years younger. My mom and step-dad have been married for nearly 25 years. They are both incredible people. I have a birth defect known as Spina Bifida and I am a double amputee although those two things have nothing to do with each other. I lost my legs to infection when I was in my 20′s. My main mode of transportation is my wheelchair, always has been always will be. I am “Permanently Engaged” and have been for the past 15 years. Right now, I live in a nursing home due to some issues that aren’t quite working in my favor. (see previous post). This makes my relationship hard, but not impossible. God helps us make things work. Don’t mistake anything on this post as me trolling for sympathy, I DON’T NEED IT! DON’T WANT IT! My disability is only a SMALL part of who I am. I am a 40-year-old woman that loves GOD first and foremost. I love my fiance and my family and friends. And I love to be creative: writing is my passion but I also love music and art. Anything that can transport you someplace else.
As for what will be covered on this blog, everything I mentioned in the above paragraph. I want to cover my day to day life as a 40-year-old nursing home resident, my writing journey, my life with Spina Bifida, my crazy, loving family (my sister is getting married next year). And I want you all to ask questions if you want to know something. That is a big part of why I’m doing this, my interaction with you all. That’s it for this week. We’ll talk again next weekend.
                            XOXO
                             Jennifer

Life Happened! Blog on hold! :(
Hello, beautiful people
I know I promised you all a blog on Friday(yesterday). Unfortunately, my body, as it sometimes does, decided that I needed an emergency trip to the ER and then to be admitted to the hospital as a patient for a week. This was my life from this past Sunday morning around 5 until Thursday at 10:30PM. The final diagnosis? Sepsis (infection in my bloodstream). Exactly what made me sick or where the infection came from, no one figured out. The most important point though, after a week of IV antibiotics and fluids, I’m back at my nursing home and doing well.
The second thing I wanted to tell you all is, I have some GREAT things in store for this blog, and for my followers. I’m not able to speak on anything right now out of fear of self-sabotaging something. You have my word, however, if you stick with me and this blog it WILL bring your heart joy.

I’m not sure who this is, but I think she is absolutely stunning. She OWNS her disability.

I’m BAAACK!!
I’ve been off here for a bit. I’ve been trying to figure out what I want my “platform” to be for my writing career. I couldn’t do that, and be on social media too (it’s a time suck). But, I also discovered that I need social media to get my message out there to the masses. Even though my first novel is far from finished, I can and will be talking it up and doing some before-hand hype building. That way, when I am ready to release, I hopefully have a large following behind me and the book. I know this post is short, I just stopped in to say hello. My next post is going to be a whole lot longer. I am going to be covering my views on the lack of what I feel is an adequate representation of the disabled population in books, films, and television. This will all be from the perspective of a physically disabled person. So I promise, it will be honest.

The most important things are the hardest to say. They are the things you get ashamed of, because words diminish them — words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they’re brought out. But it’s more than that, isn’t it? The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away. And you may make revelations that cost you dearly only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you’ve said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That’s the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a tellar but for want of an understanding ear.
