“Do you hear that?” Havoc’s voice was still hushed, tension hovering in his suddenly still frame.

There was something, some faint, continuous sound. A quiet whooshing, accompanied by the occasional soft crackle… and as the first hit of scent hit his nose, dread filled Roy’s chest with its cold, creeping weight.

That was a sound and scent combination he was all too familiar with.

You ever get started at a new job, or learning a new task… and suddenly it’s all you can think about?

In the two weeks since his apprenticeship had begun, Roy couldn't remember taking a break from the seemingly endless stream of books, essays, diagrams, and instructional leaflets his Master continued to hand him for longer than a meal break or a night of sleep. He saw alchemy in almost everything now, noted how the building blocks of the world fit together in ways he hadn’t before. That morning, he had caught himself trying to sort out the chemical components of toothpaste as he brushed his teeth, or what the circle for transmuting it would look like.

Last movie: Ghostbusters 2; watched it in the hotel at the convention I was tabling at this past weekend! Sigourney Weaver is mother <3

Last book: 'Electric Idol' by Katee Robert because I love me some Greek mythology-flavoured smut. I don't usually vibe with first-person present-tense stuff, but her style overrides it!

Last TV show: Transformers Prime. My partner has been a TF fan for years upon years, and has the show on DVD and convinced me to try it. I adore Starscream and his cunty boots

Sweet/savoury/spicy: I think I gotta go spicy. I have anxiety stomach issues, so spicy stuff invariably gives me heartburn, but it's SO GOOD. Like the shin ramyun packets??? GIMME THAT SHIT AND LIKE TWO TUMS

Relationship status: I'm married! Have been for the last six years. Our wedding was a blend of classic and nerdishness, with a Royai theme underneath as a kind of 'if you know, you know.' The two of them were our cake toppers (Roy fell over and got frosting caked all over his back LOL)

Last thing I googled: "duolingo transitioning to ai" AND I'M MAD ABOUT IT. I hit my one year mark learning Spanish yesterday (I'm a supervisor for two guys working remotely from Peru and I was learning to connect with them better), but this tears it. I deleted my app and started looking into alternatives

Looking forward to: all my tabling events I have this year (I just confirmed my latest one in September!!!) to sell my artwork, and OF COURSE Royai Week! The prompt vibes there are always so immaculate

Current obsession: oh gosh, it's a juggling act. I just finished and am still fascinated by The Pitt, I'm a recent convert to WWE (Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley <3) I started collecting Pokémon cards, and I haven't gone a day in 14 years without being obsessed with FMA
