I Must be Dead (open thread)
Jack barely noticed as the Wind gently picked him up and pulled him into the forest, back to the lake where he had woken. Back where it had started. A numbness settled inside him, and he stared at the ice for a couple of minutes before he even noticed he had landed.
The whispering of the trees stopped as the wind quieted, and the silence pressed against his ears. His breathing seemed loud. Too loud. His heartbeat—
Jack put a hand to his chest. No. Just the rise and fall of his lungs. No heartbeat.
The numbness faded, and suddenly fear and confusion were turning in his gut, morphing into a pool of anger. His head snapped up to the moon, the only being who had recognized him but now stood silent.
"What is this?" he whispered dangerously. “Answer! What have you done to me?!"
Not surprisingly, the moon remained silent.
"Am I—" Jack started to shout, before his volume dropped once more. “Am I dead?" He walked slowly away from the lake, sitting down against the closest tree. “I’m…. dead."

Hey there guys! Been a while hasn't it? I just came here to say that I'll probably be closing this blog soon, as it's been sitting in the dust for a couple of months now and I've sort of lost my muse.
But don't worry! I've had a lot of fun with this blog and have made a lot of new friends, so I don't plan of leaving completely. I'm gonna do some renovation, new url, the whole shabang and revamp as a different Jack!
I know that sounds a little confusing, but don't worry, it will all make sense once I clean this place up and settle in my new muse :D You're welcome to unfollow me as my new muse comes in, I completely understand as it will be a little different.
See you guys soon!

"N-no!" Jack said quickly. "You pull it off really well!" He could feel his face warming from ice cold to a gentle warmth. His eyes darted from her face to her dress to the ground again, completely embarrassed. "....I mean you look gorgeous."
“Oh, you really like it? I mean, it’s not too drastic?” Could tanned cheeks turn red? Eve was pretty sure they could. “I really liked the color and the lace adds a nice touch to it. At least i hope it does…I don’t want to look silly.”

"You just think about it too much," Jack teased her, leading her off the Ferris wheel. He stretched, watching as the sun fast approached the horizon. "I think this fair ends a little after sundown... So I'd pick you're favorite thing next."
Damned Trickster;
Rachel gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “Only because I have you here to protect me..” She looked up at hi, and smiled.

"It's no problem," Jack said with a light smile, brushing off the other's dazed behavior as side effects from whatever illness he seemed to suddenly be battling. "Just hang on a sec. Gotta pay for this."
The brunet ran over to the rather empty registers, quickly purchasing the medication from a high school senior who obviously had better things to do. Pointedly looking at the tip jar with pity, Jack ignored the boy's suddenly polite 'good day's and found the Tylonal isle again.
"C'mon then, I'm parked out front. You can walk right?" Jack asked as he started to lead the other to the front of the store. Then it suddenly dawned on him that he didn't even know the guy's name. Whoops. "Oh, and uh, name's Jack Overland by the way. What's yours?"
The drugstore doors slowly, but surely, slid open for the two. Jack immediately headed toward a rather beat up, old blue pick up truck sitting crookedly next to the handicapped spot. "Don't mind the looks, she runs better than most automatics," he said as he unlocked the car with two sharp punches of a button. "Just get in the passenger side and tell me where to go."

It was evident by the rusted edges and the peeling white paint in the metal racks suggested that they had exceeded the time limit in which they would be efficient for supporting the weight of bottles laden with pills, and food colouring that mothers were so insistent on using in the attempt to brighten the appearance of their pastries. The brunette was aware that his decision of attempting to keep his body upright using the thin wires of metal were ones that were likely to lead him into a catastrophe that would only cause his situation to decline in quality, but he didn’t have any other options. Henry had developed suspicions that if he remained standing without any structure assisting him, his body would crumple with the pressure of having to keep his cravings in a level that prevented people from thinking of his condition as something more than just an occasional headache.
Henry’s fingers gripped the wires in such a tight manner that it appeared as if his knuckles would turn into a shade of white that rivalled the snow that had been falling since the early hours of the morning. The sight of the boy’s blue veins trailing across his neck drove the brunette into a state of desperation, his body craving the blood pulsing through his veins in a manner that he rarely experienced in his lifetime. He knew that he should get away from him, that running away would be the option that would lead to consequences that weren’t very extreme. But he couldn’t bring his body to do what the logical part of his brain insisted on doing, and the remaining sanity he had gathered from the corners of his brain became overpowered by the animalistic craving to taste fresh blood.
The brunette’s situation only received more complicated circumstances when the teenager started to offer him some form of assistance, since his physical exterior was probably in such a terrible state that it would trigger concern in someone. Henry couldn’t prevent the feeling of guilt from clenching his stomach when the enchantment started to take control of the words that had been laying in the tip of his tongue. “Sure,” he said finally, averting his eyes in an attempt to prevent him from seeing the mixture of excitement and frustration. “I don’t need to go to the hospital, though. I think it’d be better if you just drop me off in my apartment or something,” another word was at frozen in his throat, and he forced it out. “Thank you.”

Jack snarled as the pain spiked again at the sound of her name hitting the open air, something like bile rising in his throat. He curled into himself slightly, trying to steady his breath and push away the pain.
The dark shadow forced himself to stand tall, even though his usually, disturbingly wide eyes were narrowed against his throbbing temples. "You're... nothing," he spat vehemently. "Nothing but a troublesome know-it-all who--"
It seemed his own words triggered the pain this time as his head felt like it was going to split in two, making him fall to his knees and clutch his head with a demonic screech. "....I don't know what you are," he finally managed to admit through clenched teeth, glaring at her from his spot on the ground, dark goop spilling rapidly from his empty gaze.
Lily clutched her sides, trying to work up the strength to stand up, and failing. She felt dizzy, weak. Her eyes fluttered open, and she spotted her staff lying one the ground behind the … what was this thing anyway?
Her head spun painfully, and she struggled to get words out. “Who am I? That’s a relative question. My name is Lilya Johnston Falls. I’m the Spirit of Spring, Guardian of Wisdom. I guess the real question is who am I toyou?”
She forced herself to look into the rogue spirit’s blank, watching eyes. She blew her blonde bangs out of her face, returning his probing gaze with her own lilac irises.

With that, not another coherent thought entered Jack's head as he charged toward the Boogyman with a cry of "GET OUT!" Rage boiled in his eyes as he swung his staff with force,multiple bursts of icy rays headed straight for Pitch.
How dare he! After being allowed to come back from the depths of the Earth, he instantly preys on a young spirit who can hardly control her powers yet? And to tell her she was destruction? Even with his loneliness, Jack would have still chosen his fate of being ignored rather than being told he was nothing more than a dark curse.
Toothiana suddenly flew up behind him, her usually bright features darkened by disgust and anger. "You will leave!" she said sharply, quite a terrifying sight with her feathers spiked and eyes narrowed. She brought her leg around in a sharp kick, aiming to kick Pitch off the tower.

"Even I need a vacation," Jack said with a shrug. Seeing her adjust her dress, his eyes darted to the ground, cheeks brightening. "...I-I see you went with the wardrobe change. It looks really nice."
“Usually you’re just so busy. I figured you would be tonight as well.”
She tugged at her dress, straightening it despite it being nearly perfect. The way he was looking at her made her very bashful even if she had no reason to be.

"We're almost down," he reassured, letting his arm rest around her shoulders as she cart lurched to a stop. "See? That's wasn't so bad."
Damned Trickster;
She hugged him slightly tighter. “Oh goodness…” She hid her face in his neck. “I really don’t like heights, Jack..”, she laughed lightly.
