Girl Dad || Softwilly (Nick)

▷ The moment she’s born, it’s over for him. He holds her for the first time and immediately whispers, “I’d do anything for you.” And he means it. Diaper duty? Midnight bottle runs? Letting her drool all over his favorite hoodie? Done. No complaints.

▷ He’s obsessed with seeing you as a mom. Genuinely obsessed. He watches you play with her or sing her lullabies and gets this look like he can’t believe he got so lucky. Sometimes he just stares, all starry-eyed, and when you catch him, he shrugs and says, “Sorry, you’re just kind of everything.”

▷ If she wants to wear a princess dress to the grocery store, he’s putting on a tiara too. No hesitation. He’ll rock glitter, bows, and fairy wings whatever she wants .

▷ Has like 27 nicknames for her “bug,” “peanut,” “princess chaos,” “my little monster”

▷ Every time your daughter does something sweet or clever or a little chaotic, Nick just looks at you with so much love in his eyes and says, “She got that from you.” And you swear he falls a little more in love every time.

▷ He’s protective but never controlling. If she’s upset, he listens. If someone breaks her heart, he doesn’t get mad. He sits with her, holds her hand, and tells her she’s worthy of someone who really sees her.

▷ He has a box (okay, maybe like…three) of every doodle, macaroni necklace, and handmade card she’s ever given him. And yeah, some of them live in his office, proudly framed like art museum pieces.

▷ Definitely calls you mama

“Hey, Mama, where’s her other shoe?”

“Thanks, Mama, you’re a lifesaver.”

And every time he does it with that little grin and soft voice, it makes your stomach do a thing.

▷ Tries so hard to be the cool dad when she hits that tween/teen phase. Learns the slang, lets her paint his nails, buys her concert tickets and swears he “totally knows who that band is.”

▷ Every night, Nick not only tucks her in, but also each of her 5 million stuffed animals. He gives them all tiny “goodnight kisses” and if he forgets even one, she calls him out

▷ She loves to color over his tattoos with washable markers. He lets her turn his arms into complete rainbow scribbles and then proudly shows you like, “Look what she did. Better than any artist I’ve ever paid.”

▷ He barely takes selfies, but scroll through his phone? It’s endless photos of you and your daughter, some candid, some silly, some where he’s clearly zoomed in on the way you’re smiling at her like she hung the moon.

▷ She climbs him like a tree, and he lets her. Sits on his shoulders, uses him as a bridge between couch cushions, bounces on his back while he pretends to snore on the floor

Here’s a little blurb I thought of while writing these! (I got carried away)

It starts one morning when your daughter runs up to Nick, holding a tiny plastic brush and a sparkly hair tie, and asks, “Daddy, can you do my hair like Mommy does?”

Nick’s eyes go wide. Full panic. He looks at you like you just handed him a live grenade.

But he kneels down, smiles at her, and says, “Of course I can, baby.” Then he immediately Googles “how to do a toddler ponytail” like his life depends on it.

That night, after she’s in bed, he turns to you with his serious face on and says,

“Okay. I need a volunteer. Preferably one with beautiful hair and unlimited patience.”

You laugh, but sit cross-legged on the floor in front of him while he pulls out your brush and a little bin of her hair ties. He’s so gentle it’s almost funny. Like he’s scared of hurting you. He brushes your hair slowly, carefully, muttering to himself like he’s taking notes.

“Start at the ends, not the roots. Don’t yank. Okay, got it.”

He tries a ponytail. It’s crooked. You pretend not to notice.

He tries a braid next. Fumbles with the strands. You can feel him concentrating, his fingers moving carefully, his brow furrowed, tongue poking out just a little.

You peek over your shoulder and ask, “What are you even doing back there?”

He grins and kisses your cheek. “Don’t distract the artist.”

By the time he’s done, your hair looks… okay. Kinda lopsided, maybe a little loose. But when you look in the mirror and smile, he looks so proud.

The next morning, he nails it. He gets your daughter’s hair into the cutest little braid, a bit messy, but secure. She twirls around and says, “Look! Daddy did it!”

Nick beams. You swear his whole heart is in his eyes when he says, “I practiced on Mommy. She’s the best helper.”

▷ The SECOND he notices you’re in pain, his demeanor completely changes. He’s immediately turns soft and caring, making sure you’re as comfortable as possible.

▷ He’s the type to make sure you feel taken care of without you having to ask for anything. He’ll help adjust your pillows, make sure you’re comfortable in bed, and even put a cozy blanket over you. If you need a cold compress or something soothing, he’s running to get it with no hesitation.

▷ He would be great at offering gentle head massages to help alleviate some of the tension. His hands are warm, and he’d be careful not to apply too much pressure, but just enough to offer relief. He’d give your temples a tender rub or massage your shoulders softly, being extra mindful of how much pressure you can tolerate.

▷ He’s knows you so well that he knows when you need space and when you need him to be closer. If you’re wanting to be left alone for a while, he gives you that space. But if you’re feeling lonely or restless, he’s right there. Holding your hand, massaging your feet, or just resting his hand on your leg as you nap.

▷ VERY patient. He could have the absolute worst day but the second he sees you’re in pain nothing else matters. His mind is immediately refocused on you. Even if it’s a rough day, he’s not trying to rush you through it. “Take your time. I’m not going anywhere. We can do whatever you need—rest, chill, or just talk.” He’s completely patient, letting you take the time you need to heal without making you feel guilty about it.

▷ On bad days when the pain is at its worst. He is always there to reassure you that it’s okay to rest, and it’s okay to take time to heal. He’d softly say things like, “I’m here for the long haul, okay? You don’t have to do anything except rest. I’ve got you.” That sense of security would go a long way in helping you feel less alone in the struggle.

▷ If you’re feeling completely drained and can’t move, he’ll step up and take care of everything. Lights? Immediately turned off. Water? He’s already got you some. He’d make sure you don’t have to worry about a thing or move a muscle. “You don’t need to do anything. Just relax. I’ve got this.”

▷ While he’s naturally funny knows when to tone it down so you don’t feel overwhelmed. His humor when you’re in pain is softer, aimed at cheering you up without being too much.
