Pregnant
Summary: When Y/N doesn’t get her period, she goes to Hailey for help. They find out that she is pregnant with Marcel’s baby. Now they have to find a way to tell Y/N’s brothers.
Word count: 2870
Warnings: mentions of period blood and abortion, swear words
----
It was six am and Y/N woke up form the feeling of cramps in her lower abdomen. She turned around in her bed, trying to ease the pain. The pain only got worse and a wave of nausea hit the girl, reminding her that is was that time of the month again. She got out of bed slowly and let out a soft groan. Y/N walked out of her room towards the bathroom at the end of the hall. She expected to see a red puddle in her underwear but she was shocked to see that it was still clean.
The girl sighed and ran her hands through her hair. She was supposed to be on the 6th day of her period today; she was a week late. It wasn’t unusual for the youngest Halstead to be a couple of days late but she had never been this late. She had expected her period to arrive today, especially with the pain she was feeling in her lower abdomen, so seeing that she was still not bleeding made her nervous. She was still seeing Marcel, even though her brothers had told her not to. She really liked this boy. But not being on her period made her think about the worst thing that could ever happen to her.
She decided to wait a little longer for her period to arrive and walked to the kitchen to get herself some breakfast. It was still a little early but she knew that she wasn’t going to get any more sleep anyway. The girl grabbed a bowl and put some cereal in it, along with some milk. She grabbed a glass of orange juice too and made her way over to the couch where she sat down to eat her breakfast while watching Grey’s Anatomy. Y/N was only halfway through her bowl of cereal when she felt another wave of nausea hit her. This time it felt different and the girl knew something was not right. She put down the bowl and ran towards the bathroom where she emptied her stomach.
‘No, no, no, no. This can’t be happening!’ she thought as another wave hit her and she threw up again. She sat there for a minute, wanting to be a hundred percent sure that her stomach was empty, before flushing the toilet. She didn’t have the time to wash her mouth because there was already a knock at the door.
‘Is everything okay in there?’ It was Will. He was the last person Y/N would want to talk to at this moment. He would doctor her every time that she didn’t feel well. It was really sweet of him and Y/N never minded him doctoring her but this was the last moment she would want to be doctored at.
‘I’m fine,’ the girl answered and turned on the sink to wash her mouth and splash some cold water in her face.
‘You don’t sound fine to me,’ her brother said as a matter-of-factly. ‘Can I come in?’
The girl sighed and gave her brother permission to enter the bathroom. As soon as he walked in he closed the lid on the toilet and made her sit while putting his hand on her head. ‘Your temperature doesn’t feel so high,’ he stated. ‘Are you just nauseous or do you have a headache too?’
Y/N sighed and looked at her brother’s worried face. ‘Will, I’m fine. It’s probably just a fever.’ She said with little conviction.
‘I want to take your temperature anyway,’ the redhead said as he grabbed a thermometer and put it under his sister’s tongue. ‘Is there anything I can do for you right now?’
The youngest Halstead thought for a moment before answering; ‘can you call Hailey for me? I want to talk to her.’
Will furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his sister questioningly. ‘What do you need Hailey for?’
The girl shrugged. ‘I just want to talk to her. It’s a girl’s thing.’ She lied. Will looked even more puzzled than he did before but decided to not ask anymore questions. He knew that his sister was not comfortable with talking about girl problems with any of her brothers. The eldest Halstead walked out of the bathroom to get his phone and when he returned, the thermometer beeped, indicating that Y/N’s temperature was taken. He checked her temperature first before giving her his phone. ‘
‘A 100, it’s not a fever yet, but I do want to keep an eye on you.’ He said as he gave Y/N his phone.
‘Ok, Will,’ she said quicky as she searched for Hailey’s contact. ‘Can you give me some privacy please?’ Will nodded and without asking any further questions, he left the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
The phone rang three times before Hailey answered. ‘Will? Why are you calling me so early, it’s six thirty.’
‘it’s not Will, it’s me.’ Y/N’s voice sounded more insecure than she wanted to, raising Hailey’s awareness.
‘Oh, hi, sweetie. What’s wrong?’ Hailey’s voice was already filled with concern, something Y/N appreciated about her. Hailey took care of Y/N as if she were her own sister.
‘Hailey..’ the girl breathed in deeply, thinking of a way to tell her her suspicions. ‘My period is a week late and I’m feeling nauseous and I just threw up. I’m scared and I don’t want to tell Will.’ Her breath hitched halfway through her sentence, making the girl realise how scared she actually was.
Y/N could hear Hailey talking to someone on the other side of the phone and then she could faintly hear her walking away, indicating that she was already, or still, at work. ‘Y/N, are you telling me what I think you’re telling me?’
The youngest Halstead nodded and realised that Hailey couldn’t see it. She tried to talk to her but she couldn’t find the words, tears running down her cheeks instead.
‘Y/N?’ asked a even more concerned Hailey. ‘Are you there?’
The girl sobbed and breathed out a shaky ‘yes’.
The other end of the line got quiet for a couple of seconds, making Y/N wonder if Hailey was going to be mad at her. She knew her brothers were going to kill her and she could handle that but she could never handle an angry Hailey. She was the only one she actually felt like talking to about girl problems. After a moment, the woman’s voice sounded through the phone again. ‘Who’s is it?’ she asked.
Y/N sobbed again, feeling ashamed that she even had to tell this. It was embarrassing. ‘It’s Marcel’s.’
‘Wait, the Marcel?’ asked Hailey. ‘The one your brother’s told you not to see anymore?’
The girl felt even more scared now, making more tears run down her cheeks. ‘Yea, that Marcel.’ She could hear a sigh coming from the other end of the phone.
‘You know I can’t talk you out of this, right?’ The detective ran a hand over her face thinking about how she was going to help her fiancé’s sister. ‘Have you taken a test yet?’
‘No,’ answered Y/N with a shaky breath.
‘Okay, my shift ends in two hours. I will pick one up from the pharmacy and then I will help you out, okay? Promise me you won’t tell anything to Will yet. I won’t tell Jay either until we know for sure, alright?’
The young girl agreed and shakily hung up the phone. She couldn’t even imagine how her brothers would react. Frankly, she didn’t even want to know.
-
Two and a half hours later Hailey walked in alongside Jay who tossed his keys on the kitchen counter. ‘I heard my sister was sick,’ he said as he made his way over the girl who was sat on the couch, buried in a warm blanket.
‘Her temperature hasn’t gone up anymore, but she’s still not feeling well,’ Will said as he laid his hand on his sister’s head again to check her temperature.
‘I’m fine you guys,’ the girl said as she looked at Hailey who nudged her head towards the bathroom. ‘I have to use the bathroom.’
Without looking at the two men, she quickly made her way over towards the bathroom where Hailey was already waiting for her. She was holding a pregnancy test in her hand and looked at the young girl with pity in her eyes.
Y/N sighed heavily as she ran her hands through her hair. ‘Alright, let’s get this over with.’
‘Do you know how to take this test?’ asked Hailey as she gave the test to the girl who took it with shaking hands.
‘Yea, you just pee over this stick right? And then it will tell you if you are..’ she swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat ‘pregnant or not.’
‘That’s right,’ Hailey placed her hand on Y/N’s shoulder, squeezing it softly before walking out of the room. ‘I will wait for you outside the door.’
The youngest Halstead nodded and took the test. She had to wait for a couple of minutes before she got the results. She had a gut feeling, however, that she already knew what the test was going to say. She invited her brother’s fiancĂ© back in the bathroom when the test had the results ready.
‘I don’t want to check,’ she said with a shaky breath. ‘I feel like I already know what the result’s going to be.’
Hailey looked at the girl with sympathy and asked if she had to check the results. Y/N nodded and fearfully looked at the woman’s expression when she read the results.
As soon as she met Hailey’s eyes, she burst out in tears. The blonde detective spread her arms, inviting the girl for a hug, which she immediately accepted.
‘I can’t believe it!’ she cried. ‘Jay and Will are going to kill me. They will never let me see another boy ever again, hell, they won’t even let me out of the house ever again.’
‘Let’s not think about that right now,’ she rubbed the girls back as she tried to think of how they were going to handle this. ‘There is one more important thing you should consider right now.’
Y/N let go of her brother’s fiancĂ© and wiped away her tears. ‘And that is?’
Hailey sighed and took a second to answer. ‘You know it’s not a good idea to keep it. But the decision is yours to make. Do you want to keep the baby?’
The youngest Halstead sighed heavily and started crying again. ‘I don’t know!’ she sat down on the toilet and rested her head in her hands. ‘I don’t know, Hailey!’
‘I know it’s a tough decision to make, Y/N, especially at your age. But I guess you can already tell what your brothers are going to say. I want you to make this decision on your own and I want you to know that whatever you decide, I will stand by you.’ She took a hold of Y/N’s hands and squeezed them softly.
‘I guess it’s time to tell them, isn’t it?’ the young girl asked as she looked at the woman in front of her.
‘You have to tell them today, but take as long as you need. I’m here with you.’
‘Thanks, Hails.’ Y/N smiled softly at Hailey, being glad that she could soon call her her sister in law.
-
After about an hour sitting in the bathroom, the two walked towards the living room where Jay and Will were sat on the couch, watching a hockey game.
‘There you are,’ Jay said as he paused the game. ‘You have been in there for over an hour, what happened?’
Hailey stood next to Y/N, squeezing her shoulder ever so slightly in a poor attempt to calm the now anxious girl down again. The girl knew she had to say something but the words didn’t come. Instead she started crying again, surprising herself that she still had tears in left in her body after all that crying she did today.
Both of her brothers got up form the couch and walked over to her, worry plastered on both of their faces. ‘Y/N, what’s going on?’ Will asked cautiously.
‘I-I have to tell you something,’ she said in between sobs as she started fumbling with the sleeves of her sweater.
She didn’t dare to look the two men in the eyes so she kept looking at their feet instead. She noticed Jay crossing his arms over his chest, which never meant anything good. After a long silence, except for Y/N’s sobs, Jay spoke up again. ‘Y/N, tell us what’s going on.’
‘Erm,’ she started.
‘And look at me,’ the detective added in a strict tone that she never dared to disobey.
The girl slowly looked up, meeting her brother’s green and worried eyes. ‘Well, I, erm..’ she wiped away a tear from her cheek before continuing. ‘Do you remember Marcel?’
‘That boy you fucked in our apartment without telling us?’ Will said while crossing his arms too. ‘We remember him damn well.’
‘Well, erm,’ Y/N lowered her gaze at their feet again, feeling the nausea kicking in again.
‘Damn it, Y/N, just tell us!’ Jay started to lose his patience and took a step towards her.
‘Guys,’ Hailey the two men in front of her and Y/N, while putting and arm around her. ‘Give her some time,’
‘Fine, sorry.’ Jay scoffed and waited for his sister to speak.
‘I, erm,’ the girl sobbed again but continued her story, ‘you told me that he wasn’t welcome in here anymore, so we thought that we could still see each other at his place.’
‘You slept with him again?’ Will asked as he took a step forward too.
‘Well, yes, and I erm..’ she looked at Hailey for a second, who nodded to encourage her to keep on talking. ‘I don’t really have a fever, it’s just that..’
‘ARE YOU PREGNANT?!’ shouted Will as he took another step forward and grabbed her arms.
‘Will,’ warned Hailey but she couldn’t be heard because Jay started yelling too.
‘Are you fucking kidding me? Hailey are you supporting her?’ he looked at his fiancĂ© as if she had murdered someone.
‘I am not okay with her being pregnant, Jay, but I am supporting her because this is more difficult for her than you think.’
‘We are going to med right now,’ Will grabbed his keys from the table and grabbed Y/N’s coat before shoving it into her hands. ‘You are going to get this thing removed.’
‘Don’t push her, Will,’ Hailey grabbed the coat from the poor girl’s hands and grabbed Will’s keys from his hands as well. ‘She doesn’t know what she wants yet.’
‘She doesn’t know?’ Jay’s voice sounded so calm it even made Hailey get goosebumps. ‘What do you mean she doesn’t know? She is only sixteen years old. She isn’t capable of raising a child. She is still a child herself.’
‘She knows, Jay,’ Hailey said. ‘But it is a living being inside of her. It’s not only hard for her physically but mentally too. Please, let her think about it.’
‘No, they’re right,’ Y/N said softly, making everyone turn towards her. The girl looked up and looked each and every one of them in the eye. ‘I know what I did and that I shouldn’t have done it. This is my punishment for being so stupid.’ She looked at Jay and sighed. ‘You are right. I am not capable of raising a child. I should get it removed.’
‘Won’t you at least think about this for a week?’ asked Hailey. ‘You should discuss this with Marcel too.’
‘Marcel doesn’t have a say in what happens to our sister,’ Jay interrupted his fiancĂ©.
‘Well, actually he does,’ said Will who was a little more calm than he was before. ‘She should tell him about it. It is his child too.’
‘How about we let Y/N think for a while and let her call him when she comes to a conclusion?’ asked Hailey.
‘I would like that,’ said Y/N softly as she looked up at her future sister in Law who in return smiled at her.
‘Fine,’ Jay scoffed again and turned to his sister. ‘But don’t you think there aren’t any consequences, young lady.
‘I understand,’ nodded Y/N. ‘Do I have to go to my room?’
‘No , you can sit with us. But only for today. You will be grounded though, and we will take your phone and call Marcel’s parents.’ Will said as he made his way over towards the couch.
‘And you will either go to the district or to med when you’re out of school, you understand?’ added Jay quickly.
‘I understand,’ said Y/N. ‘Thank you for letting me think about it.’
‘Of course,’ Jay put a hand on Y/N’s shoulder, ‘even though we’re mad at you, we still want you to feel alright. You’re still our sister and we want what’s best for you.’
Y/n smiled softly and spread her arms to hug her brother, who gladly accepted. ‘Thank, you Jay. I love you.’
He placed a kiss on her head ‘I love you too, munchkin.’

Thunderstorm
Hi, it’s been a while since I last posted on here! I have been really busy with school, so I didn’t have the time to write anything new. But I do have some time now, so I will be writing again! So, please feel free to send me your requests. I will not write them out immeadiately since I have a couple of requests that I’m working on, but they will be posted eventually!
Enjoy! :)
A halstead!sister oneshot
Summary: Y/n spends the night at her eldest’ brother’s apartment. She is fast asleep but wakes up from a loud crackling of thunder. She gets scared and runs to Will who comforts her during the storm.
Word count: 1382
Warnings: None
-----
Y/N was fast asleep, surrounded by all of her plushies. It was currently Saturday and she spent the night at Will’s place. Ever since her eldest brother got an apartment for himself, she spent almost every weekend there. Will wanted his sister to live with him so badly, but he knew that was impossible due to his job. His working hours were too irregular and he was barely at home; he couldn’t take care of a child. That’s why Jay and him decided that their little sister could spent every weekend at Will’s. They had also made a decision that Y/N could stay at Will’s longer during the holidays.
The youngest Halstead missed her eldest brother a lot. She had a great connection with him and he reminded her of her father, who sadly passed away when she was only four years old. Will and Jay took care of her as if she were their daughter and she couldn’t imagine her life without them.
This night, Jay brought her over to Will’s after school. Y/N had begged him to stay for dinner since he and Will didn’t see each other a lot, except for the weekends when Y/N came over. Jay didn’t stay long at Will’s for most of the time because both of them had to wake up early for work the next morning. Except this time.
The youngest Halstead had begged Jay to stay during the drive to Will’s apartment. ‘I don’t know if I can stay, munchkin. Maybe Will has already prepared dinner for just the two of you.’                                                              ‘We should ask him then,’ replied Y/N with a sweet smile. Jay only nodded, knowing that his sister wouldn’t change her mind.
When the two of them entered the apartment, and Y/N finished hugging her eldest brother, she immediately asked him if Jay could eat with them. Will happily told the two siblings that Jay could stay, glad that he was finally able to talk to his brother for more than ten minutes.
‘Look, I actually asked Hailey if she wanted to have dinner with me, I can’t -,’        ‘Ask her if she wants to come over then.’ Will interrupted him. ‘I haven’t seen her in a while either.’
And so the four of them had dinner at Will’s house. The three adults used this as a opportunity to inform each other on the things that happened at work and in their love lives (the topic was mainly Will’s love life.) Y/N just sat there throughout the evening, listening to their conversations and not knowing what they were talking about. She would sometimes interrupt them to tell them about a new drawing she made at school or about the book she was reading for school.
The night ended too quickly for the girl, but after Jay and Hailey left, Will luckily let her stay up later to watch a movie with him.
‘Which movie do you want to watch?’ he asked his sister. The girl thought deeply for a second and replied; ‘Shrek!’
Will laughed at her enthusiasm, knowing this was her favourite movie. Every time they would watch a movie together they would watch Shrek.  ‘Alright, I’ll grab some popcorn and drinks. You can already put the movie on if you want. Do you want some hot cocoa?’                                                                        ‘Yes, cocoa!’ the girl jumped up and down from excitement. She always told everyone that Will makes the most delicious hot chocolate in Chicago.
After putting the movie on, the little girl cocooned herself in a blanket and sat down on the couch, waiting for Will. ‘Do you want to cuddle?’ she asked the moment he put their drinks and popcorn on the table in front of the couch.                                                                                                                                           ‘Only if I can sit under the blanket too,’ the redhead said with a smile. Y/N then lifted the blanket a little so that Will could sit under it as well. He put the blanket over the two of them and put his arm around his sister’s shoulders. She leant her head on his chest and melted in to his embrace.
Half an hour into the movie, Will noticed that his sister hadn’t touched her hot cocoa yet and that she was awfully quiet. She would often ramble about the movie if they watched Shrek together. She would say things such as: can we get a cat and give it boots too? Or: I want to be Fiona for Halloween this year!
‘Y/N,’ Will said softly. When his sister didn’t respond, he nudged his shoulder a little but the girl kept quiet. He looked over her and saw to his surprise that she had already fallen asleep. The redhead smiled to himself as he turned off the tv and lifted his sister in his arms. He carried her to her bedroom and after putting her in her pyjama’s, he put her in bed. Will gave his sister a kiss on her head before turning off the lights and closing the bedroom door softly. After putting her to bed he cleaned off the table and went to bed himself.
~
The youngest Halstead woke up from a loud bang. She sat up straight in bed, worrying that something might have happened to Will. She sat there for a while staring into the darkness until she saw a short flash of light, followed by a loud bang. It didn’t take her long to figure out that it was thunder that she was hearing and without thinking she got out of bed and ran towards Will’s bedroom.
Y/N’s fear of thunder started three years ago when lighting struck a tree next to her and Jay’s apartment. She was sitting behind the window, looking at the sky and adoring the shapes of the lightning. It was then when the lightning struck the three in front of that window, followed by a loud crackling of thunder making the window vibrate in its frame. Since then, her fear of thunder has only grown.
‘Will!’ she cried out as soon as she opened the door to his bedroom. Will being the deep sleeper he was, didn’t wake up and kept on snoring. The little girl jumped on his bed and shook him awake. ‘Will, there’s thunder outside!’
The redhead slowly opened his eyes and groaned. ‘What’s up, kiddo?’ It took him a while to notice that she was crying and when he did, he quickly turned on the lights.                                                                                                        ‘What’s wrong, sweetie?’ he asked her again, pulling her into his arms. ‘Why are you crying?’
The girl sobbed in his chest and answered with a shaky breath. ‘I-it’s.. there’s thunder outside.’ Right after she said that a loud crackling of thunder could be heard, making her bury herself even deeper in her brother’s embrace.
‘It’s okay, kiddo.’ Will rubbed her back soothingly and placed a kiss on her head. ‘You’re safe here.’
The youngest Halstead shook her head. ‘What if your house gets struck?’ her voice was muffled by his shirt she buried her face in.
Will pulled away and wiped away the tears from her red-stained cheeks. ‘What was that?’
‘I said: what if your house gets struck?’ the girl repeated as she sniffed.
‘It won’t.’ the eldest Halstead pushed away some of the hairs that were stuck on his sister’s wet cheeks. ‘The God of thunder will never hurt you.’ Jay and Will have always told Y/N that there was a God who ruled the thunder. That’s why she used to be so intrigued by it. She thought lightning was beautiful, but since she saw what damage it could do, she didn’t think it was that beautiful anymore.
Y/N sobbed as she furrowed her brows. ‘Why not?’
‘Because,’ said Will as he pulled her in for another hug, ‘he knows how sweet you are and how much you mean to me and Jay. He wouldn’t dare to hurt you.’
The girl smiled softly and nodded, feeling her fear soothe a little. ‘Can I sleep with you tonight?’ she asked.
‘Of course you can, munchkin.’ Her brother planted a kiss on her head and pulled the covers over the two of them. Y/N nestled herself in his arms and closed her eyes.
‘Goodnight, Will.’ She said.
‘Goodnight, Y/N.’ Will turned of the lights and they both fell asleep.

I love your work will you be able to write a story where Y / N spends time with Jay and Will and has some accident (falling down stairs or ladders) The guys are totally panicking and wanting to take her to the hospital but she begs them not to do it so after a long time persuading them, they ultimately patch her over at home.
Hi, thank you so much for your message. I really enjoyed writing this one! It's not exactly like you asked for, but I thought I could make it a bit more interesting so I changed it a little. I hope you like it!
I am willing to write other requests as well, it doesn't necessarily have to be a Halstead sister one. Please, feel free to send in your requests, I love to work them out!
Please note that it may take a while for me to finish writing a new imagine since I am really busy and writing is just a hobby. I do read your messages though.

---------------
The youngest Halstead woke up very early to the sound of birds chirping and tree branches tapping her bedroom window. It took her a few seconds to open her eyes and sit up straight only to stretch her back and yawn a little. She slept great last night and felt refreshed and ready for a new day.
The girl stood up from her bed and walked over to her window to open the beige curtains. A couple of sunrays shone trough the leaves of the tree that stood in front of the window, illuminating the room in a light orange colour indicating that the sun was coming up. Y/N opened her window a little further and breathed in the fresh scent of grass that was still wet from the rain that had fallen the night before.
It was quiet outside. There were no other sounds than the birds that were happily chirping and the wind that was blowing softly through the trees. Y/N closed her eyes for a second and felt her body relax. She had always loved nature, ever since she was a little girl. Her mother would always take her for a walk in the park and during the holidays she took the whole family to a little cabin in the woods. It once belonged to Y/N’s grandparents, but when they stopped coming there they gave it to the small family. The three siblings still visit the cabin every holiday, it became a tradition. A tradition that they expected would go on for many generations.
Jay, Y/N and Will were in that cabin. Y/N was on summer vacation from college and both her brothers managed to get a week off of work. The cabin was located in a beautiful forest, next to a small river that the siblings used to swim in. The large open field behind the house was often used for making campfires in the evenings or for having water fights on hot days. Today was going to be one of those days. Not hot, but warm enough to swim in the river. The siblings loved to come there during sunrise or sunset. Y/N thought that today would be a good day to watch the sun rise while they are swimming in the river.
The youngest Halstead decided to make her brothers some pancakes before waking them up. She knew Jay wouldn’t mind waking up early but Will.. The first thing the girl did when she got downstairs was open the curtains and windows. She even opened the door that was located right next to the kitchen. It wasn’t that hot inside, but the air felt muggy so a little fresh air would probably be appreciated. Y/N grabbed everything that she needed for the pancakes and started baking. She decided to make some with banana’s, some with blueberries and others with apple.
‘Hmm, what’s that smell?’ asked a voice from the staircase. Y/N could hear footsteps coming around the corner and a slight smile crept on her face when she saw Jay walk into the kitchen. His hair was still messy from sleeping and his eyes looked sleepy.
‘Good morning to you too,’ Y/N giggled as she turned towards him. ‘I’m making pancakes.’ Jay sat down at the table, which his sister had already set, and took a sip from the orange juice that was already on the table.
'Did you get a good night rest?' asked the girl as she put a blueberry pancake on her brother’s plate. Jay put some syrup on his pancake and took a bite out of it and answered with his mouth full:
‘I did. Thanks for the pancakes, kiddo.’ He still called his sister kiddo, Will did too, even while Y/N was already 22. It was a nickname that they would keep forever. It made Y/N smile knowing that no matter how old she was, she would always be Jay and Will’s little sister.
‘I’ll go get Will,’ she said as she made her way upstairs towards her eldest brother’s bedroom. ‘Watch the pancakes for me, will you?’ she added quickly to which Jay mumbled something in response.
Y/N walked into Will’s bedroom only to find him still fast asleep. He looked so peaceful, she thought. It was time to interrupt that peace. The girl put her hand on Will’s chest and tried to shake him awake.
‘Will,’ she said. ‘Wake up.’ But he didn’t wake up. He mumbled something in his sleep, swatted her hand away and turned his back towards her. She sighed and tried again, whining his name.
‘Will, wake up. I made pancakes for you.’
‘Shove ‘em up your ass.’ Was the only response she got.
That’s it.
Y/N put he finger in her mouth and plopped it in his ear, something her brother did NOT like. She used to do that to him when they were little and he was annoying her again. She still does sometimes, like now.
‘Y/N, that’s gross!’ Will swatted her hand away and sat up in bed. Mission accomplished. Y/N laughed at the red-heads annoyed expression and started towards the door.
‘Breakfast’s ready.’ Was all she said as she walked downstairs again.
‘He didn’t kick you out of his room?’ asked Jay as soon as Y/N got into the kitchen again. She went over to the stove and put the pancake that was now ready on a plate for Will. She then started baking one for herself.
‘No,’ she answered and put a blueberry in her mouth. ‘I didn’t actually give him the chance to, though.’  Jay smirked at his sister, knowing she enjoyed bugging Will in the morning. He enjoyed watching the red-head get heated up and kicking his sisters’ ass afterwards. He would often help her bug Will, it was something they always did together.
‘If he’s moody today I’ll totally blame you, you know?’
‘I wouldn’t be surprised. You blame me for everything.’ Y/n laughed at her brother’s shocked expression.
‘I do not do that!’
‘Yes you do! You used to blame me all the time whenever you and Will got in trouble so that mom wouldn’t ground you!’ the girl leaned over the counter and watched her eldest brother walk into the kitchen.
‘You are just easy to blame, Y/N.’ said Jay laughing. ‘You always get yourself in trouble.’
‘That’s very true.’ Will joined into the conversation from which he had only heard the last thing Jay said. ‘Who do you think you are waking me up this early?’ he poked his sister’s side, who in return laughed and swatted his hands away. She was relieved he wasn’t in a bad mood today. That means that her plan for the day could continue.
‘Sorry,’ she said sheepishly, ‘but I thought it would be nice to go for a swim in the lake this morning. The sunrise is beautiful today.’
‘I guess we could do that,’ said Will who started eating his pancake. After a bite he said: ‘they’re delicious, Y/N.’ the girl thanked her brother and started eating her own pancake too.
After the three siblings had their breakfast and cleaned up the dishes, they got changed into their swimwear and went out to the river. The sun shone beautifully through the trees, illuminating the water in a golden glow. The only sound they could hear were the sounds of birds chirping and the water streaming down the river. Y/N loved that this place wasn’t near a city, it made it so much more relaxing when the only sounds you could hear were the sounds of mother nature herself. The nearest town was 20 minutes away and the youngest Halstead didn’t mind it one bit.
‘The last one to get in has to make dinner tonight,’ said Will as he started running towards the river.
‘Oh, you’re on!’ Jay pushed him aside and ran towards the river as well.
‘I’m not cooking again today!’ Y/N laughed as she took a spurt forward. She pushed Will away, trying to get to the water before Jay did. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her and she started closing in on Jay. She was almost at the river, but then her feet came in contact with something hard and slippery. The rocks in front of the river were wet and before Y/N could react, she fell backwards.
She could feel her feet slip away from beneath her and her body flung backwards. The girl felt a stinging sensation in her foot and realised that she might have cut it, but before she could do anything her head hit the ground. Hard. Her vision turned black and she heard a ringing in her ears.
‘Y/N!’ yelled Will and Jay at the same time. Jay got out of the water quickly and Will squatted down next to his little sister.
‘Y/N. Y/N, are you okay?’ Will put a hand under her head and started examining it quickly. She was bleeding and would most definitely need stitches.
Jay started worrying when she didn’t respond. He kneeled down next to her as well and asked her: ‘Y/N, can you hear me?’
The girl mumbled something inaudible. It comforted Jay however, knowing that she was still conscious.
‘Let’s get her inside,’ said Will as he carefully placed her in his arms. ‘Call an ambulance. She’s gonna need stitches.’
‘Hmm,’ Y/N’s hearing had restored a little, but she couldn’t fully understand what her brother had just said. She did hear the word ambulance though. She was not going to a hospital today, not during her holiday. ‘No hospital.’
‘We have to get you to the hospital kiddo, you have to get stitches.’ Will carried the girl inside where Jay was already on the phone. The red-head put her on the couch and grabbed a cloth to hold it to her wound.
Y/N hissed and opened her eyes to look at her worried brother. ‘Please, don’t take me to a hospital. I’ll be fine, it’s just a cut.’
‘I know, but I want to make sure you haven’t broken anything. Does anything else hurt?’ Will asked as he scanned his sister’s body for any other injuries.
‘My foot,’ the girl tried to sit up, but Will put a hand on her shoulder, laying her back down.
‘Let me take a look,’ he said. ‘Hold the cloth for me, will you?’
Y/N grabbed the cloth from her brother and held it on the throbbing wound on her head. She knew it was bleeding a lot since she could feel a stream running down her face, even though she put pressure on it. She didn’t dare to look however. She never liked the sight of blood. She didn’t understand how Jay and Will could do their jobs seeing so many injured people every day. She wanted to become a doctor when she was younger, but then Jay had a little accident in the kitchen where he accidentally cut himself with a knife. Y/N wanted to help him put a bandage around the cut, but she fainted at the sight. At that moment she knew that being a doctor wasn’t a profession she could do.
‘The ambulance is on it’s way. They’ll be here in 30 minutes or so.’ Jay walked into the room and took a seat on the chair next to the couch Y/N was laying on. The girl sighed dramatically.
‘No, pleaseee. I really don’t want to go to the hospital. I’m fine. Will can stitch me up right here, ain’t that right, Will?’
Her eldest brother looked over to his little sister from where he wads examining her foot and sighed. ‘Your foot only needs a bandage, but I’m afraid the wound on your head is a little more complicated. I’d really prefer it being stitched in a much more sterile environment.’
Y/N looked over at Jay who shrugged. ‘The paramedics are already on their way.’
‘Oh come on! Just call them and tell them we don’t need them anymore. We can clean the wound right here and then Will can stitch it up.’ The girl whined and shot a pleading look towards both of her brothers.
The two men shared a look before Will spoke up. ‘Fine. Jay can you call again and tell them I’ll stitch the wound myself?’
Jay nodded and walked away with his phone in his hands.
‘Thank you, Will.’ Y/N smiled at her brother who nodded in return.
‘I’m only doing this because we’re on vacation, so don’t expect us to patch you up at home every time something happens.’ The girl nodded while Jay walked back into the room and handed Will a first-aid kit.
‘Please be careful next time, munchkin. I don’t want you to break your leg or something.’ He said as he planted a kiss on the side of her head that wasn’t covered in blood.
‘I can’t promise you anything.’ She said sheepishly. ‘But this does mean that I won’t have to make dinner tonight, right?’
The two men laughed at her comment and Will shook his head. ‘Of course not. Jay and I will cook tonight.’
Jay raised his eyebrows at his brother who was cleaning up Y/N’s wound on her head. ‘Erm, excuse me? Jay and I?’ Will looked over at his brother who had an amused look on his face. ‘You didn’t even get in the water today. I won, so you have to make dinner.’
Will smirked at his brother’s comment. ‘Well, I didn’t exactly have a choice because miss clumsy here decided to slip on a rock again.’
Y/N gasped at looked at her brother with a shocked expression on her face. ‘Miss clumsy? Sweetie, don’t get me started on how many times you trip over your own feet. Besides, I made breakfast this morning. I think it’s only fair if you two make dinner tonight so that all of us have cooked today.’
‘Yea, Will. Itïżœïżœs only fair if you cook too.’ Jay crossed his arms over his chest and laughed at the bewildered look on the eldest’ face.
‘You want to fight me or something?’ Will playfully looked his brother up and down who laughed.
‘Hell, yea! The loser cooks tonight.’
‘Deal,’ said Will laughing and started patching Y/N up.
‘You guys are such idiots and I love you for that.’ The girl said with the biggest smile on her face, already forgetting the pain she was in.

----------------------
‘I just got a call from Nancy. She has finished the autopsy and turns out the girl who died in the fire is Stacy Jones. She is Benjamin’s sister, or was.’ Kevin said with sorrow in his voice after he put the phone down.
‘Alright, Jay and Hailey, you’re on this one. See if you can get any information out of this Benjamin. I want the rest to question the witnesses.’ Everyone grabbed their coat after Voight’s que and left as soon as they could.
The car ride towards Benjamin’s house was silent as both Jay and Hailey felt sorry for the kid. He visited the district earlier that day to ask if they knew anything about his sister who was visiting a friend but never came home. Hailey had to break the news to him that Stacy’s friend’s house burned down and that they hadn’t found her yet. The boy was worried sick and both detectives felt sorry for the boy, especially Jay who knew that he would feel exactly the same if this happened to his sister.
‘Are you sure you’re okay with this? You know I won’t mind telling him the bad news.’ Said Hailey as Jay parked the car in front of Benjamin’s house.
‘I’ll be fine, Hails,’ Jay smiled slightly at his wife and squeezed her hand before getting out of the car and walking towards the house with Hailey following his lead. Jay took a deep breath and knocked on the door, which was opened quickly. The two detectives were met with a worried looking brother who let them in as soon as he saw them.
‘Did you find her?’ the boy asked desperately once he recognised the detectives in front of him. Jay glanced at Hailey, who gave him a nod, before speaking up.
‘Yea, we found her.’
Benjamin was too focused on Jay’s words to notice the tone he was speaking in and felt relief wash over his body. ‘That’s great! How is she?’
Jay grimaced as he looked down at his feet for a couple of seconds, trying to think of a way that he could bring the bad news. Normally he wouldn’t be so emotionally involved in cases, but this one was different. He imagined this girl being his own sister, Y/N. He would be devastated if anything happened to her. He could only imagine what Benjamin must go through.
‘Ben, I think it’s best if you take a seat.’ Said Hailey as she put a hand on his arm and guided him towards the couch.
‘Why,’ the boy looked confused as he was guided towards the couch and sat down hesitantly, ‘what’s wrong?’
Hailey sat down next to Benjamin while Jay took a seat in front of him, levelling with the boy’s eyes. He didn’t waste any time and jumped right into the story. ‘We found your sister in her friends house, which you already know burned down. We found the girl alive and well and we found your sister too.’ The detective took a moment to breathe. He found himself having a hard time telling the poor kid that his sister died. Hailey glanced towards Jay for a second, making sure that he could continue telling the news or if she had to take over. The detective got himself together quickly and continued.
‘We found Stacy under a pile of bricks, she was burned and she wasn’t breathing either.’ Jay finally got the words out and looked at Benjamin reluctantly. It took the boy a couple of seconds to let Jay’s words sink in and when it hit him, he looked up at the detective with tears in his eyes. Hailey could feel that his body started to tremble and she was quick to place her arm around the boy who, in return, buried his face in the crook of her neck. Tears started streaming down his face as he cried in silence. Both detectives looked at each other, Jay giving his wife a nod, silently telling her that it was okay to ask Benjamin the infamous question.
‘I’m so sorry, Benjamin, but I have to ask you; do you know who might have done this?’
‘Y-yes, it had to be her boyfriend, Eric. She found out he was cheating on her and they got into a huge fight. He swore that if she told anyone that he had another girlfriend, he would make her suffer.’ Benjamin sniffled after he got the words out. He sat up straight and wiped the tears from his face.
‘What is Eric’s last name?’ asked Jay.
‘It’s Hill. His name is Eric Hill.’
Both of the detectives fell silent. Jay’s face hardened as he recognised the name. Eric Hill is his sister’s boyfriend. The son of a bitch cheated on her.
‘How long have they been together?’ Jay clenched his jaw as he looked at the boy in front of him. He was fumbling with his hands, trying to stop himself from crying.
‘Erm, I’m not sure. I think they were together for like 6 months?’
The detective stood up abruptly, knocking over the chair he was sitting in. His sister’s boyfriend had been cheating on her for half a year! Y/N loved him. They have been together for almost two years. She always gave him everything that she could. She would always give him some paintings that she made or some random gifts she found at shops. She wanted to marry him and be with him for the rest of her life. How dare he betray that sweet girl like that! Jay was going to make him pay. He would make sure that he got sent to the worst prison in America, he’d even drive him there himself if he had to.
‘Thank you , Benjamin. I have to go now, but I’ll make sure that Eric gets what he deserves. You have my word.’ Jay nodded at the kid and quickly left the house before he lost control of his emotions.
‘I am really sorry for what happened, Benjamin.’ Said Hailey as she got up from her seat next to him. ‘I promise you we will find him and get him the punishment he deserves. I will talk to you soon. Take care of yourself, alright?’ the boy nodded as the detective put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly before leaving the house, following Jay.
-
Y/N’s brother didn’t waste any time and drove to Eric’s house as fast as he could. Hailey tried to stop him, but he didn’t listen. The man was furious, he didn’t have time to do everything by the book. He wanted to avenge her.
Without any hesitation, Jay parked the car in front of the house and didn’t even bother to knock. He kicked down the door and walked inside. There sat Eric in the living room, smoking a joint. Jay never knew he smoked, neither did Y/N. The boy stood up quickly and looked shocked, but at the same time angry.
‘What the hell-‘ he was cut of by Jay who pushed him back on the couch.
‘Chicago pd, asshole.’ Y/N’s brother was trembling with anger and Hailey tried to pull him away from the boy, afraid that he might hurt him but Jay shrugged her off and pretended that she wasn’t there.
‘Jay, what the fuck are you doing here?! Why is she here?’ Eric asked as he nudged his head towards Hailey.
‘We’re here because you are suspected of murdering a teenage girl this morning. You are hereby arrested, you have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you.’ Hailey tried to at least do something by the book and walked over to him, softly pushing Jay aside.
‘What? I didn’t do nothing!’ Hailey grabbed Eric by the arm and pulled him from the couch. He struggled against her, trying to push her away.
‘You cheated on Y/N, and when Stacy found out that you already had a girlfriend, you got scared. You got scared so you killed her. You burned down the house of her friend and burned her alive!’ Jay’s words were venomous as he looked Y/N’s – soon to be-  ex-boyfriend in the eyes.
‘I didn’t cheat on her!’ Eric shouted as he still struggled against Hailey’s grip, who had managed to cuff him in the meantime.
‘Oh yeah? Then who’s Stacy Jones and why is she dead?’ Jay stood directly in front of the boy and looked him in the eyes, silently daring him to lie.
‘I- I don’t know!’ Eric avoided eye contact, which was enough for Jay and Hailey to know he was lying. They pulled him towards the car and brought him to the district.
-
At the end of the day, Jay came home to a very confused Y/N. As soon as Y/N heard the front door open, she stood up form her seat and walked over to him.
‘Jay, thank God you’re home. What’s going on? Will wouldn’t tell me, but I know that it’s serious.’ Jay’s sister nudged towards her eldest brother, who had walked up to them and gave Jay a greeting nod.
The brown-haired man hesitated a little before speaking up. ‘Listen, Y/n.’ He looked at Will quickly, who took over.
‘Maybe we should take a seat,’ Will put a hand on his sister’s arm and softly guided her towards the couch where he sat next to her. Jay took a seat on the small table in front of his siblings and rested his elbows on his knees. He had called Will earlier that day and asked him if he wanted to come over. He had thought it would be better for Y/N if she was with her brothers when she found out about her boyfriend cheating on her. Not to mention he also killed the girl he was cheating with, but they had decided to leave out that part.
Y/N looked at Jay and then at Will who looked at her in silence, both trying to come up with a way to break the news. They knew it was going to break their sister’s heart and so they tried to come up with a way to put it lightly, as to not hurt her too much.
‘Listen, erm,’ started Jay as he took his sister’s hands. ‘When I was at work today, I had to interrogate some witnesses of a crime. Some of these witnesses was a boy around your age. His sister was involved in the crime, she was a victim.’
Y/N held onto her brother’s hands as he told her the story. She wasn’t expecting anything, really. She was curious to what he might say next. She didn’t say anything as he continued his story.
‘When we asked this boy about what happened to his sister, he told us that her boyfriend might know some more. So Hailey and I went over to his house.’ Jay lowered his head and sighed, a pit forming in his stomach as he tried to break the news.
‘Okay, and?’ asked Y/N, now even more curious.
Her detective brother looked up again and Y/N could see sorrow in his eyes. What was he trying to tell her?
‘We found Eric in the house. He was alone.’
‘What was Eric doing in her boyfriend’s house?’ the girl’s mind was running wild, trying to think of a reason why her boyfriend would be in the victim’s boyfriend’s house. Maybe they were friends and the victim’s boyfriend had to go somewhere and he waited for him?
Jay fell silent as he tried not to make eye contact with his sister. He looked at Will instead who got the hint and put a hand on Y/N’s shoulder, earning her attention.
‘Y/N,’ he started softly, ‘Eric was her boyfriend.’
A silence fell over the three siblings as Jay and Will gave their sister some time to let the information sink in. After a couple of seconds, which felt like minutes, she let out a sob and looked from Will to Jay with tears in her eyes.
‘He c- cheated on me?’ Jay nodded and squeezed her hands, which he hadn’t let go, softly.
‘I’m sorry, kiddo.’
Y/N’s silent sobs turned into screams of grief. She loved him. She loved him so much. She didn’t think he would ever cheat on her! They had already planned out their future wedding and they had thought about names for their future children. How could he cheat on her? She thought he loved her, too!
Will put his arms around her and pulled her close to him. Her cries broke his heart. He rubbed circles on her back and kissed the top of her head in a way of soothing her, which, of course, didn’t work. He looked at Jay who had his hand in front of his face, trying to hide the tears that were forming in his eyes.
‘How long?’ asked Y/N after a while. Her cries had become less and she was now a sobbing mess. Her hair was stuck to her tear-dried cheeks and she sniffed, looking at Will’s shirt that she had cried on, which was now soaked with her tears. Her brother still had his hand on her back and looked at her apologetically.
‘How long, what?’ he asked as he furrowed his brows.
Y/N looked at Jay, who quickly wiped at his eyes and sniffed his nose too. He had been crying. Seeing his sister hurt was the worst thing he could ever imagine. Hearing her cry like that, her cries were filled with the sound of a broken heart, hurt him even more. ‘How long has he been cheating on me?’
Jay hesitated before answering. ‘6 months,’ was all he could say.
Y/N clutched her hands to her chest and started crying again. Memories of her and Eric flooded her mind. They were happy memories. She never knew he was cheating. She would have never expected it. ‘Oh my god,’ she stammered, ‘6 months!’
Will pulled her into his arms again and slowly began rocking back and forth, whispering comforting things in her ears. Jay went to the kitchen and got her some hot cocoa and turned on the tv. He took a seat next to her and put his arm around her as well.
‘How about you drink some hot cocoa, we watch a movie together and Will and I taking you out for dinner tonight?’
Y/N lifted her head and turned towards her other brother. She smiled softly, wiping her tears away with the sleeves of her sweater. ‘Thank you guys so much. I don’t know what I would have done without you.’
‘It’s okay, kiddo.’ Jay kissed the top of her head and gave her the remote. ‘You can pick the movie for tonight.’
‘I love you guys,’ Y/N smiled at both brothers and picked out a feel-good movie.
‘We love you too, sweetie.’ Will kissed his sister’s cheek as he grabbed a couple of blankets and made the three of them comfortable. Y/N enjoyed her brother’s company and was very grateful for their support and helping her to take her mind off of her now ex-boyfriend.

Boy trouble
A halstead!sister oneshot

I am currently working on some requests that were sent in. Feel free to send me a message if you would like me to write something!
Enjoy! :)
--------------------------------------------------
‘Wait here,’ Y/N said as she unlocked the door to her apartment and slipped in. All she had to do was to make sure neither Will or Jay were home. Both of them were supposed to be at work, but on some occasions they got home earlier than expected.
‘I’m home!’ the girl yelled as she took a few steps into the living room. She let out a sigh of relief when she was met with the comforting sound of silence. This meant that her plan could go on. Y/N walked back to the door and was met with a pair of beautiful brown eyes that belonged to no other than Marcel.
Marcel was a boy she met at Spanish class and, well, things escalated quickly between them. It wasn’t like they were in a relationship, nor were they friends. Let’s just say that it was complicated. Not that it bothered Y/N. Marcel was a very handsome boy and she considered herself lucky that she could lay her hands on him.
‘Is it safe?’ the brunette boy asked to which Y/N nodded.                                       ‘Come in quickly. I don’t want my neighbours to see you.’ Marcel nodded and did as he was told.
The thing is: Y/N didn’t want her brothers to find about her and Marcel. She was only sixteen and her brothers would never approve of her being in a sexual relationship. She didn’t want to think of the trouble she would get in if they found out about her and Marcel.
She put these thoughts to the back of her mind very quickly as Marcel pushed her against the wall and crashed his lips onto hers. Her hands automatically found their way to the back of his head to tuck at his hair, to which the brunette boy pushed his body against hers. Y/N’s hands found their way under his shirt, feeling his muscles tense under her touch.
Marcel put his hands on her waist and pulled her even closer to him. ‘Jump,’ he said in between kisses. Y/N did as she was told an jumped on top of him, putting her legs around his waist. The boy carried her towards her bedroom, a trail he was all too familiar with, without breaking the kiss. As soon as he reached her bed he carefully laid her down and hovered over her.
‘You’re so damn beautiful, Y/N’ he said as he eyed her up and down. The girl blushed slightly as she bit her lip, looking into his brown orbs.
‘Come here, you,’ she said as she pulled him closer and started kissing him again. After a couple of minutes, she managed to strip him until he was only wearing his boxershorts and she was only wearing her jeans.
Before they could proceed with the deed, they were alarmed by the sound of the front door being unlocked. Both teenagers shot up from the position they were in and looked at each other in consternation as they heard the front door being shut.
‘Get dressed, quick!’ Y/N hissed at Marcel as she pushed him off of her.
‘Y/N, I’m home!’ the voice of her eldest brother alarmed her. He couldn’t find out about her and Marcel. She didn’t even want to think about the trouble she would be in if he did. Will repeated her name as Y/N and Marcel tried to get dressed as quickly as possible.
The girl panicked as she heard footsteps nearing her door.                                   ‘Shit,’ she mumbled.
‘Y/N? Are you in there?’
‘Yes, wait a second, I’m coming!’ Y/N ushered Marcel towards her closet while he was still fidgeting with his shirt.
‘What are you doing in there? What is that noise?’ Will said in suspicion. Y/N put on her shirt as well and helped Marcel to get into his clothes.
‘Erm, nothing! Hold on!’ she had to hurry. Will couldn’t find out. Not like this. He would kill her. After a couple of seconds, her eldest brother grew impatient and curiosity got the best of him. ‘That’s it, I’m coming in.’
‘No!’ Y/N yelled, but she was too late. Will stopped dead in his tracks as soon as he saw the boy who was being pushed in the closet by no other than his sister. Marcel quickly straightened his shirt and tried to remodel his hair while trying to avoid eye-contact with the man standing in front of him.
‘What is this?!’ Y/N looked at the ground, afraid to look at her disappointed and, most likely furious brother in the eyes. ‘Y/N, look at me.’ Will said again as he took a step closer to her.
The girl started fidgeting with her fingers, a habit Will knew all too well she had when she was nervous. She carefully looked up, still avoiding eye contact. ‘Look at me!’ his voice thundered through the room, making both Y/N and Marcel jump in their places. Will’s sister took a deep breath and finally looked him in the eyes. ‘Who is this?’ her brother said, now a bit calmer.
‘I-I should probably get going..’ Marcel stumbled and tried to walk towards the door of the bedroom, only to be stopped by Will who put a heavy hand on his shoulder. ‘You’re not going anywhere.’
‘Will, please, let him go. I promise you I’ll tell you everything.’ Y/N pleaded, looking at Marcel with guilt in her eyes. Will sighed as he released his grip on the boy. ‘Get out. I don’t ever want to see you here again, understood?’ Y/N felt a shiver run down her spine. She had never seen her brother this angry before. It scared her. If Will reacted like this.. She didn’t even want to know what Jay’s going to do when he finds out.
Marcel nodded his head and quickly left the apartment, knowing that he would never step a foot in there ever again.
‘I’m going to call Jay. You, get your ass down the living room and wait there.’ The girl sighed again as she looked down in shame. ‘Will, I-‘
Will cut her off quickly and grabbed his phone from his pocket. ‘I don’t want to hear it. Go to the living room and wait there.’
His sister did as she was told and quickly made her way over to the living room, thinking about all the ways that her brothers could kill her.
After sitting on the couch in an awkward silence, both siblings were met with the familiar sound of Jay’s footsteps entering the apartment. Oh God, here it comes, Y/N thought as she looked at her angry brother who tossed his keys onto the table and stopped next to the chair that Will was sitting on. Y/N waited for one of them to burst out, but nothing happened. They both just looked at her in silence, anger washing over their faces as they waited for her to say something.
‘Guys, I’m so-‘
‘What the hell were you thinking, Y/N?!’ Jay yelled as he crossed his arms. ‘Sneaking a guy into our house. I never thought you would sink so low.’
‘Jay, I’m sorry,’ Y/N spoke softly, feeling ashamed of her actions.
‘Who is he?’ Will asked in a much calmer voice. ‘His name is Marcel.’ His sister said. ‘He goes to my school.’
Jay sat on the edge of the couch and Y/N swore that he was looking right into her soul. She didn’t dare break eye-contact with him. ‘Is he your boyfriend?’
The girl shook her head, looking down and feeling even more ashamed.
‘So he’s just a fuckbuddy?!’ Y/N felt tears filling up her eyes as she heard Will yell these words at her. It sounded even worse coming from her brothers mouth. ‘I can’t believe you. I thought we raised you well, Y/N!’
‘I’m s-sorry,’ the girl stuttered, tears now running down her cheeks. ‘I don’t know what I was thinking, I knew that it was wrong, but I just.. I didn’t want to end things between us.’
‘What was there to end between the two of you?  You two weren’t even a thing!’ Jay crossed his arms over his chest as he sighed heavily. ‘Did he force you to do this?’ His sister shook her head.
‘We’re so disappointed in you, Y/N.’ Will looked down at his sister with disapproval as she took shaky breaths, trying to stop herself from crying. ‘Your phone is mine for the next couple of weeks and I want you to stay with either me or Jay until we can trust you again.’
‘What?’ the girl quickly wiped her tears as she looked at her older brother in disbelief. ‘I am not a child anymore, Will, I can stay home by myself.’
‘Clearly you can’t. Otherwise you wouldn’t have snuck a boy into your room for God knows how many times.’ Her other brother stood up from his seat and put out his hand for her to put her phone in. ‘You will be either at the district or at med when you’re done with school. And no you cannot take your phone to school.’ He quickly added when Y/N opened her mouth to say something.
Tears started running down the girl’s cheeks. She knew she would be in trouble. She would have thought of her getting grounded but not being allowed to stay home alone? That was next level. She handed her phone over to Jay and stood up, ready to go to her bedroom and cry alone.
‘Please learn that your actions have consequences, Y/N.’ Will said as he got up and walked behind her. ‘I know that you have the age to get sexually active but please, don’t do it with some random people you find attractive. You don’t want to know the kind of trouble they’ll get you in.’
His sister nodded as a throbby sob left her mouth. ‘I am so sorry Will. I never wanted to disappoint you.’ Her eldest brother sighed as he opened up his arms for her, in which she happily threw herself into. ‘I love you.’
‘I love you too, Y/N.’

I really liked this request, but I had an immense writers' block so I hope this is what you had in mind!
Everyone feel free to send in a request. I will take any requests, it doesn't necessarily have to be a halstead sister one!

Sick
A halstead!sister oneshot
Summary: Will is out of town and Y/N gets a fever. Jay does his best to take care of her and make her feel better.
Warnings: none
Word count: 1767
-----------------------------------------------------------
‘Y/N,’ you heard a voice say. You mumbled a ‘go away’ and turned around, trying to fall back asleep. You went to bed earlier than usual last night because you had a headache you couldn’t get rid of. You tried everything last night; you took ibuprofen, drank some tea and you had tried to listen to some white-noise but the pain didn’t ease. You had hoped that the pain would be gone when you woke up, but when your voice was called again you just pulled your blanket over your head even further. You could feel a stinging sensation going through your head with every sound you heard.
‘Wake up, kiddo, you’re gonna get late to school.’ Hearing Jay’s voice always soothed you a little, but not today. His voice stung in your head. Your brother put a hand on your shoulder and tried to shake you awake, earning some groans from you.
‘Please, don’t.’ you whined as you rolled on your back. ‘My head hurts.’ You opened your eyes slightly only to see a concerned looking Jay hovering over you.
‘The pain hasn’t subsided?’ your brother asked softly. You shook your head and groaned again. Moving your head even hurt. You wanted to stay in bed all day, but knowing Jay, you guessed that he would want to spend the day with you to make sure you were okay, even if it meant that he had to skip work and you didn’t want him to.
‘How late is it?’ you asked and put a hand on your pounding head.
‘It’s 7:30. I already made you breakfast so if you get dressed and eat I could still bring you to school before eight.’ You nodded and got out of bed as fast as you could and into the bathroom. You tried brushing your hair but gave up quickly as every brush hurt more than the one before. After putting your hair in a messy ponytail Jay knocked on the door, asking if he could come in. You gave him permission and he opened the door slowly peeking around the corner.
‘You look like shit, Y/N.’ was the first thing he said when he looked at you. You sighed shaking your head slightly.
‘Thanks, Jay. I really needed to hear that.’ You replied sarcastically and looked in the mirror. You didn’t want to admit it, but you did look like shit. Your skin looked pale and the dark bags under your eyes looked even darker in contrast to your pale skin. Your hair was a mess, even though you had tried to make it look decent by putting it in a ponytail.
‘I’m sorry,’ your brother said sheepishly as he opened the door further to let himself in. ‘It’s true though.’ You just rolled your eyes at him, not in the mood to think about what you could say back to him.
The brunette placed a glass of water and a painkiller on the counter in front of you. ‘I thought you could use this.’
‘Thank you, I appreciate it.’ You gladly took a hold of the glass and grabbed the ibuprofen while your brother kissed the top of your head.
‘Your breakfast is on the kitchen table.’ He said before he left the bathroom, closing the door behind him. You quickly brushed your teeth and got dressed in something comfy, skipping your make-up routine.
When you entered the kitchen-area you found Jay sitting on a stool, sipping his coffee as he was reading something on his phone. He had made you toast with scrambled eggs and put a glass of orange juice next to it. Your brother always made you breakfast whenever he was home since he wakes up earlier than you. You on the other hand, wanted to stay in bed for as long as you could, a characteristic Jay tried to get rid of since you were a little girl.
‘You feeling a bit better?’ he asked you as you took a seat on the stool next to him.
‘Not really.’ You looked at your breakfast, your stomach twisting at the thought of eating anything. You didn’t want to waste any food, or Jay’s time, so you decided to take a bite of the toast your brother made anyway.
‘Did you watch too much Netflix yesterday?’ your brother asked, referring to the show you binged-watched. Jay didn’t like it and every time you got a headache, he blamed the show for it. It wasn’t that you watched that show too much. You watched two to three episodes a day, usually before going to bed.
‘Breaking Bad is a good show and no I did not watch too much of it. I watched only one episode yesterday, I had too much homework to do.’ You took another bite of your toast and thought about the study session you had last night. You had a biology test today and you wanted to re-read everything about the nervous system. Will had helped you study that afternoon, but it didn’t go very well since you had to do it via facetime as Will was out of town. You had so much difficulty understanding how the synapses work that you decided to watch videos about it and make notes. It did help you, but now you had a headache which started in the middle of your study session. Maybe you studied too hard last night.
‘Did you take a break from studying?’ Jay asked as he put his phone away and turned around to face you.
You fell quiet for a second. You never really took breaks from studying. Not because you didn’t have time for breaks but once you were focused enough, you didn’t feel like quitting, worrying that you might not be able to focus after taking a break.
‘I know you can’t really take studying advice from me, but I do know that your brain needs rest in between study sessions, Y/N. You need to be able to focus on your test today.’ You laughed slightly at your brother’s comment.
‘You sound just like Will,’ you said. Your stomach took another twist and you could feel your throat tighten. Unfortunately you knew all to well what this meant and you quickly got off of your stool and ran for the bathroom making it just in time before throwing up in the toilet.
Jay waited by the door and as soon as you got out he handed you a glass of water.
‘You’re not going to school today.’ He stated and you nodded. ‘I’ll call the principal and Voight and when I get back I want to see you laying in bed.’
‘You don’t have to stay home for me.’ Jay would always call his work when you were sick. You knew he meant well but you didn’t want him to waste his time just because you had a fever.
Your brother raised his eyebrows and asked: ‘Do I have to remind you of what happened last time when you were sick?’ referring to when you had persuaded him into going to work. You told him that you could take care of yourself and that he had to go to the district to work on a case. When he got home that night, he found you laying on the bathroom floor, unconscious. He had taken you to the hospital to get you checked up for any internal damage the fall might have caused but fortunately you were okay. Jay had sworn that he wouldn’t let that happen to you ever again and that either he or Will would stay with you when you were sick.
You mumbled a ‘alright then’ and went to you bedroom to get dressed in your pyjamas and get back in bed. A few moments later, Jay walked in again holding a thermometer and a glass of water. ‘Will told me that I had to make sure you stay hydrated.’ He said while placing the glass on your nightstand. ‘Now open up.’
You opened your mouth and Jay placed the thermometer under your tongue. After a while it beeped and he got it out of your mouth.
‘Your temperature is 103. I’m gonna call Will. You, get some rest.’ Jay left the room and called Will for advice.
A couple of hours later, you woke up, shivering. You grabbed your blanket and pulled it around you before standing up and walking towards the kitchen. You felt hungry and nauseous at the same time but you figured it wouldn’t hurt to get some food in your system.
‘Hey, how’re you feeling?’ Jay asked from the couch as he paused the hockey game he was watching.
‘Like shit.’ You grabbed a cup and decided to make some soup. While you were waiting, you heard your brother get up from his spot and walk over to you.
‘I want to take your temperature again, Y/N, just to make sure your fever hasn’t gotten worse.’ He said softly as he stopped next to you.
You nodded and grabbed the thermometer and put it under your tongue. In the meantime, Jay decided to make you some chicken soup while you went to sit on a stool. After a while, the thermometer beeped and you read your temperature. ‘102’ you read.
‘That’s great. That means you’re getting better.’ You nodded and Jay filled your cup with soup.
‘Yea, well, I don’t feel like I’m getting better.’ You sighed and ran a hand across your face.
‘I know something that will make you feel better.’ Jay smiled as he put a hand on your arm. ‘C’mon.’ you got up from the stool and your brother guided you to the living room where he sat you on the couch and put a blanket over you. He went back to the kitchen and after giving you your soup, he sat on one of the big leather chairs and went on Netflix to put on your favourite show.
‘I thought you didn’t like Breaking Bad?’ you asked as you raised an eyebrow at the brunette.
‘I don’t. But I’ll watch it for you, but only today.’ He gave you a smile that melted your heart. You were glad that he stayed home with you today.
‘Thanks, Jay.’ You took a sip from your soup and made yourself comfortable, pulling the blanket up to your chin. Half past the first episode you two watched, you fell asleep. You had thought that Jay would quickly change the show when you were asleep, but he didn’t. He did really watch it and he did it all for you.

THIS IS PART 2
PART 1  here
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Four hours later, at the factory
‘We still haven’t heard anything from your brother,’ the kidnapper said as he walked towards Y/N. ‘It’s been four hours. Maybe he isn’t interested in finding you. Maybe he’s gonna leave you for dead.’ The man crouched down in front of Y/N so that he was eye-level with her and pulled off the tape that was covering her mouth.
‘He’s coming. I know it. He would never leave me!’ Y/N spat at her kidnapper who looked at her in disgust.
‘Who do you think you are?’ he punched her in the face. Then he punched her again and again and again until the right side of Y/N’s face was fully covered in bruises.
‘Y/N, no!’ sounded the voice of Y/N’s friend who was sat at the other end of the room. The man quickly turned around and saw that the tape that was covering Avery’s mouth, was now loose.
‘How did you manage to do that?’ he asked as he walked towards her, talking about the tape.
‘My dad taught me some self-defence tricks.’ Avery said as she made eye contact with the man.
‘Ah, I see.’ He kept silent for a moment, looking at the girl that was sitting in front of him. He then moved away and grabbed a baseball-bat. ‘Has your dad taught you this?’ he asked as he swung the bat towards Avery, hitting her in the ribs.
The girl shrieked and tried to turn away from the man. ‘Has he?’ the kidnapper asked more fierce this time as he hit her again. Tears started running down her cheeks as she heard something break. It was no doubt that it was one of her bones.
‘Please, stop it!’ Y/N yelled at the other end of the room.
‘Shut the fuck up!’ her kidnapper walked back to her and hit her, breaking some of her bones as well.
An hour later, at the 21st
‘I think we got something!’ everyone hurried themselves around Kevin as he showed them the exact location of the factory that Y/N and Avery were held in. ‘This place is located near the southside. It used to be a factory for making metal but it shut down last year due to a gas leak. They got most of their stuff out of there, but there are still some chemicals, machines etc.’
‘Alright, let’s go then.’ Jay stood up and grabbed his coat, only to be stopped by Voight.
‘Not so fast. When did we ever go without making up a plan?’
‘Right, sorry.’ Jay put his coat down and sat back in his chair. ‘So what’s the plan?’
‘We still have to wait for Hailey and Kim. I don’t know what’s taking them so long.’ Adam said. ‘They’ve been gone for over three hours now.’
‘It’s a million dollars, man, that takes some time.’ Kevin stood up and walked over to the board. He put on some pictures he printed from the location they were holding Jay’s sister and her friend. He started writing some things down like the route, the people that were coming with, Jay’s task and more.
Jay didn’t pay attention, however. He just kept watching the video, even though they finally had the location. His mind kept wandering towards Y/N. How bad was she hurt? Was she still alive? Could he even do this? He had dome some undercover work before and knew how to keep his cool, but today? Today was different. His sister’s life was at stake. If Y/N died, he would never forgive himself. If it was up to him, he would go over to her right now, but he knew that was just like walking into his own death. He had to be smart, tough and, most importantly her brother.
‘Hey man,’ Adam rolled his chair over next to Jay’s. Jay lifted up his head and looked at him. Ruzek could see a sadness in his co-worker’s eyes that he couldn’t describe. He knew that he was worried and that he was sad and angry, but his eyes showed so much more than that. Maybe even guilt. ‘She’s gonna be okay, you hear me? We’ve got three hours left and as soon as Kim and Hailey get back, we can make a plan and head out okay? We can safe Y/N and her friend.’
Jay nodded. ‘I know that but..’ he fell silent for a couple of seconds, trying to keep his voice steady and his tears that were blurring his vision from falling. ‘I just can’t stop thinking about that this is all my fault. If I never became a police officer than I would have never made such enemies and she would have never been kidnapped and..’
Adam put a hand on his shoulder. ‘Don’t blame yourself for this. You know that this is not your fault. She could have been kidnapped by anyone.’
‘Yeah, but that person might not have wanted a million dollars from me because I arrested him.’ Jay sighed and looked at Ruzek. ‘What if Kim and Hailey aren’t back in time? Y/N and Avery could be dead by now.’
‘You know that won’t happen, Jay.’ Adam squeezed his shoulder and rolled his chair away. ‘I’ll give them a call.’
Another hour later, at the factory
Jay, what’s taking you so long? Y/N thought as she looked at the vomit that was spread across her legs and the ground. Her vomit. She had been hit in the stomach for so long, that everything that she ate that day came out without her being able to stop it.  The smell of it made her feel even more nauseous, so she tried to breathe through her mouth. Not that it helped a lot. With every breath she took, she felt her broken ribs pinch into her lungs. She could only take short breaths which were also very painful. Y/N had lost track of time by now. She knew she had been here for almost a day because it was getting dark outside. The kidnapper had lit up a small lamp and put it on the floor in between her and Avery.
Poor Avery. She was hit on the head with the baseball bat. The girl hasn’t gained consciousness ever since. Y/N was scared that she might have died due to the blood loss, but she could sometimes see her move her legs or her head, like she did now.
‘Avery.’ Y/N whispered to her friend. She was scared and cold and she was in so much pain. She just wanted somebody to talk to.
When Avery didn’t move, Y/N whispered again, but she stayed unconscious. The anxious girl kept staring at her friend, hoping that she would wake up soon. Minutes of silence have passed when a loud, deep voice sounded from behind her, startling her.
‘It’s been six hours now. You don’t think they’re gonna come now are you?’ the kidnapper, whose name Y/N still didn’t know, walked up from behind her.
‘He will. Jay always does.’ The girl’s voice was rasp and it hurt talking. When was the last time she had some water?
‘I don’t think he does, sweetheart.’ The man took a hold of the camera again and started recording. ‘It’s been six hours, Halstead, and you’re still not here. I didn’t expect this from you. I thought taking your sister was enough to persuade you, but I guess not.’ He turned the camera towards Y/N and filmed her up close. ‘Do you see this, Jay? I can’t imagine what type of pain she must be in right now.’ He got close to Y/N’s face, who quickly turned away from him. This got him an even better angle of her bruises, which started to turn purple, and the dried blood on her skin.
‘Don’t be shy now, Y/N.’ the man grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him. Y/N wanted to say something. She wanted to shout, to beg him to let her go, but she couldn’t. Her throat was dry and she was in too much pain to speak. The man turned the camera towards himself and started talking again. ‘I guess I have to help you make up your mind a little. Maybe you can safe at least one of them.’
Y/N’s eyes widened when she saw that he pulled out a gun and aimed it towards her. ‘No, no, no! Please!’ she yelled as hard as she could. ‘Please don’t kill me! Jay, help me, please!’ her voice was rasp and barely audible. It hurt her to breathe, let alone talk.
The kidnapper laughed at Y/N’s desperation. ‘I’ll give him one last chance.’ He said and slowly made his way over towards Avery, making sure the camera was pointed in a certain angle that it recorded both Y/N and himself.
‘Don’t kill her!’ Y/N tried shouting. He couldn’t kill her friend. She would never forgive herself for dragging her into this. Avery was innocent!
The man stopped in front of Avery and recorded Y/N over his shoulder, who was desperately trying to get loose. ‘Please, spare yourself the energy,’ the girls’ capturer turned the camera and aimed it at Avery, who was still unconscious. He slapped her across the face twice, before getting a reaction out of her.
Avery slowly opened her eyes, groaning softly as she felt a stabbing pain in her chest as she tried to inhale. She gasped for air when she was grabbed by the throat and her eyes met those of her capturer. It took her a while to process what was happening but then she noticed from the corner of her eyes that there was camera pointed at her. She opened her mouth to say something when she felt the cold touch of a gun on her head. Avery quickly closed her mouth and squeezed her eyes shut, a few tears escaping from under her closed eyelids. ‘Please, don’t.’ she whispered.
‘I hope that this will be the only life that’s going to waste tonight, Halstead. It’s up to you.’ The man grinned at the camera mischievously before asking the girl if she had any last words.
‘You’re going to pay for this, you son of a bitch.’ Avery’s shaky words had barely left her mouth before the man pulled the trigger. A loud bang was heard and the girl was sent backwards, falling on the ground with a soft thud. The kidnapper recorded the blood splashed on the wall behind Avery and then zoomed in on her head with blood pooling around it. In the back of the recording sounded the anxious and desperate screams of Y/N, who was in remorse of her friend’s death.
Thirty minutes later, the 21st
‘So I will walk in there, with the bag of money and you will be waiting outside?’ Jay asked as they went through the plan one last time. Kim and Hailey got back an hour ago with a bag of fake money. It took them a while because one million wasn’t easy to get, not even when it was fake. Everyone from intelligence sat together, trying to make a plan. The goal was to get both Y/N and Avery out safely and for Jay to not get killed.
‘We will be right around the corner, so don’t worry.’ Burgess said as she tightened her bulletproof vest.
Jay nodded as he fiddled with his hands. He wasn’t usually the type to get nervous easily, but he found himself shaking the whole day. He wanted to stop it, because it made himself even more nervous, but he couldn’t. Hailey walked up to him and gave him a hug which he gladly returned.
‘Don’t worry, Jay. We’re going to safe her now. She won’t have to be there for long anymore.’ Jay found himself speechless and nodded once again. ‘You called Will, right?’ Y/N’s brother took a deep breath to make sure that his voice was steady when he spoke.
‘Yeah, I did. He’s on his way.’
‘Guys!’ Sergeant Platt rushed in once again. ‘I just received another tape! You might want to take a look at this before heading out.’
‘Give me that.’ Jay basically ripped the thing out of Platt’s hand and rushed upstairs and put the disk in his computer. Trudy didn’t mention it and was the first to follow the detective upstairs, followed by the rest of intelligence.
The video was already playing when everyone finally got upstairs. Voight felt his heart rate go up when he heard the sound of a gunshot coming out of the speakers. Were they too late? He guessed everyone else thought the same because they all stopped dead in their tracks. They couldn’t read anything off of Jay’s facial expression as it was blank. He just stared at the computer screen like he was made out of stone.
‘What happened?’ Voight asked after a couple of seconds. Jay didn’t respond and he took a step closer. ‘Halstead!’
The detective got out of his trance and looked at the others, who were standing further behind, first. They all looked at him in anticipation of what he was going to say, but he kept quiet.
‘Jay,’ Voight said softer then he did before. He knew something was wrong and he was fearing the worst. ‘What did you see?’ He could see the man in front of him swallow hard before he finally looked up to him.
‘He..’ he took a deep breath. ‘He shot Y/N’s friend. He said that if I don’t get there soon, she’s next.’
Some cussing could be heard from behind the two men, however, nobody dared to move before Voight told them to. Were they still going with the original plan?
‘Alright, let’s move!’ was all they needed to hear. All of intelligence practically ran downstairs, followed by Jay and Voight. When they came down, they met Will, who had just arrived. On his face was a worried look, similar to Jay’s.
‘Where is she? Is she okay?’ was the first thing he asked to no-one in particular. Jay grabbed his arm and pulled him into the back of a car.
‘No questions, just come with me.’ Was all he said. Adam quickly got into the drivers’ seat and Voight rode shotgun and within two seconds, they took off.
The car ride was silent, the tense atmosphere felt thick between the four men and they were all sitting on the edge of their seat. When they were close, Jay grabbed a gun and put it behind his pants. He wasn’t wearing a vest and for the first time he wishes he had one. What if he was too late? What if the killer tried to kill Jay too?
‘Alright, Will. Everyone will be listening through my microphone. We got one other car and an ambo. You wait with Ruzek and Voight and you only get out of the car when I say so, okay?’ Jay’s voice was firm and clear, as if he was talking to a nine-year old. Will simply nodded and said a ‘be careful’ before Jay got out of the car.
Inside the factory
The smell of gasoline stung in Y/N’s nose. She was laying on the ground, covered in gasoline and her own vomit. At this point she knew Jay wasn’t coming anymore. The kidnapper said that he had ten minutes left. If Jay had had eight hours to come and get you, there was no way he would come in the next ten minutes.
‘I don’t think he is coming to safe you anymore.’ The man said to the girl laying in front of him. She was still tied to the chair and she couldn’t feel her limbs anymore. Her sight was so fuzzy that she could barely see a shape in the form of a man in front of her. She couldn’t see the lifeless body of her friend anymore. Not that she wanted to see it, but over the past hours she kept looking at it to check if it was real. She just couldn’t believe he shot her without hesitation. Y/N had lost all of her hope. She was going to die here tonight. With every breath she took, she felt that it was one closer to her last. She wanted to die. She had suffered enough today and she wanted it to end.
The murderer clicked his tongue. ‘Such a waste. You were both very pretty girls.’ He sighed and crouched down in front of her. ‘But business is business am I right?’ A wide grin spread across his face as he lit the lighter. ‘Goodnight, bitch.’
‘Don’t move!’ sounded another voice from behind him. His smile only grew bigger as he slowly got up and turned around.
‘Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to show up. It took you long enough, Jay Halstead. If you got here sooner, that poor young lady didn’t have to die.’ The voice of the man had something psychotic in it. It put Jay’s neck hair on end.
‘I’m here now. So let my sister go.’ Jay’s voice sounded steady. He wasn’t as nervous as he was before. He was with Y/N now. She was still alive. It didn’t keep the adrenaline from running through his veins though.
The man took a few steps towards Jay, who kept his ground. The men made eye contact and the kidnapper found himself taken aback by the detective’s determined look. He knew that he was there to safe his sister and he wouldn’t leave without her.
Jay slowly put the bag on the ground and opened it, revealing the money inside. The killer smiled and motioned for Matt to pick it up.
Jay hadn’t noticed the other man before. Damn, he thought, I must not lose focus. He quickly looked around if there was anybody else present, but unfortunately he only saw Avery’s body. Another rush of adrenaline went through his body as he was snapped out of his thoughts by the man, Matt, grabbing the money that was inside the bag.
The detective tried not to be suspicious as Matt examined the money. He held in it the light, smelled it and ran his nails across it. He looked Jay in the eyes for a while, who clenched his hands into fists. He was screwed. They knew it was fake.
‘it’s fake isn’t it?’ asked Matt.
‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ Jay tried to remain calm, because he knew that his team were on their way.
‘Don’t lie to me!’ the kidnapped walked up closer to Jay who reached behind his back for his gun. He didn’t get the chance to pull it out because the man in front of him had already shot him in his left leg.
Jay groaned as a jolt of pain went through his leg and he ducked away behind some crates. He quickly took a hold of his gun and steadied himself on his right leg, peering over the crates only to see that the kidnapper had a hold of Y/N and was trying to pull her away from the scene.
‘I don’t think so.’ Jay muttered as he raised his gun and shot at the kidnapper, who took one bullet to the chest. The man tried to shoot back and Matt tried to cover for him, only to be stopped by the intelligence unit who barged in.
‘Chicago PD!’ sounded the voice of Kevin who ran in with his gun pointed at the two men. Like they always do, the men tried to run, but Adam and Kim were much faster. They tackled them and they earned a few good punches before they were cuffed.
‘This is squad 2113, shots have been fired by the police, we need an extra ambulance.’ Kim said through her radio after she cuffed one of the men.
Jay ignored the help that the paramedics offered him and stumbled towards Y/N, who was being released by Will, who was in full doctor mode, and Hailey who asked two paramedics for help.
‘Y/N,’ Will said as Y/N pulled her arms in front of her and rubbed her wrists that were covered in red marks from all the pulling she did. Her sight was still fuzzy, but she could make out the voice from one of her brothers.
‘Will..’ she said softly, ‘am I..dead?’
Her brother shushed her as he put a hand under her head and kissed it softly. ‘It’s over now. It’s okay, we’re here. You’re safe’. The only thing Y/N could do was nod and she felt her eyes grow heavy, glad that this was all over with.
‘Jay.. Is he?’ she started, but she was quickly interrupted when he knelt down beside her and Will.
‘I’m here.’ He said softly. ‘I’m so sorry you had to go through all of this.’ His eyes started to fill with tears and he didn’t know if it was from the bullet in his leg, which he tried to stop from bleeding, or if it was because he found his sister, and she was still alive.
‘Jay,’ Will started as he looked at his brother’s leg.
‘I’m fine.’ Was all he said and he grabbed Y/N’s hand softly. Her hand felt so fragile in his. She looked fragile too. It made him feel like he never wanted to let her go ever again.
Y/N tried to open her eyes and she was glad that she could make out the shape of both of her brothers. She was safe. Finally. She could go to sleep now.
‘Avery..’ she mumbled before she closed her eyes and everything went black.
‘Get her to the hospital, now!’ Will yelled as two paramedics ran over to where they were sitting. They pulled Y/N on top of the cart and into the ambulance. ‘I also need one for Jay!’
‘Will, I’m fine.’ Jay said as he stood up again. He just wanted to be with his sister, his leg didn’t need immediate attention. A wave of pain went through his leg and he gritted his teeth. He couldn’t go to the hospital right now. He needed to take care of Avery, too. It was his fault that she was dead in the first place.
‘No, you’re not. Please, don’t make this any more difficult than it already is, Jay.’ Will put a hand on his brother’s shoulder and, after a huff and another “I’m fine” he got him to walk to the ambulance. In the meantime more detectives showed up and they covered the whole place in red tape and made pictures of the crime scene. They were quick to get Avery out of there and to the mortuary.
~
The bullet could be taken out of Jay’s leg with ease and he didn’t have to stay at the hospital. Y/N however, needed to stay for a couple of days. Jay and Will both took a couple of days off of work to spend some time with their sister, who they were glad was still alive. They had her stay home for two weeks and went out of town for the time being to take their minds, and especially Y/N’s, off of what happened. They went on hikes, for as far as Jay and Y/N could walk with their injuries, made cookies, played a lot of games and watched many movies from their childhood. Y/N helped Avery’s family arrange the funeral and made sure her friend had the best farewell someone could hope for. It was a tough time for them, but they were fortunate they had each other to get through it.

PART 2 HERE
This one is a little longer than usual, so I made two parts. The second part will be uploaded soon! Enjoy :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
She could feel the blood run over her skin. Everything hurt. Another kick hit her stomach. She tried not to move as she felt the never ending wave of nausea getting worse. Her body lay on the cold ground, her hands were tied behind her back and her feet were tied together too. A piece of tape covered her mouth, muffling her screams of agony and pain. Her sight was blurred, but she could faintly see a shape of one of her capturers. He was holding something small in his hand and held it up so that it was levelled on his eye-sight. The girl could hear a click and a small light emerged from the small thing that the man was holding. It took her a while to figure out what is was, but after several clicks and the flickering of the small light, she figured that it was a lighter that the man was holding. He flicked it on and off as he slowly made his way around her.
‘I’ll pray for you that your brother will be here soon or you may not see the daylight ever again.’ The deep voice of the man sounded. He signed to one of the other men to grab something that was too for away from Y/N to see what it was. The sound of a fluid crashing against the ground filled her ears and soon enough the whole room reeked of gasoline. The man walked over to her and poured some gasoline over the girl as well, making her gag at the smell. The other man who was holding the lighter crouched down in front of her. With one motion of his finger, the lighter turned on again and a small fire came out of it. He put it dangerously close to Y/N’s face and laughed softly. The girl wanted to cry out, but she couldn’t. All she did was look at the fire.
‘You see, your brother killed one of my homies. He also took one million from us. Do you have any idea how hard we worked for that money?’ The man grabbed Y/N’s chin and forced her to look at him. Her vision was still blurry and she struggled keeping her eyes open. He slapped her across the face and tightened his grip on her chin. ‘Now he’s gonna pay for what he did. He could come here with the money and safe his little sister,’ he fell silent for a couple of seconds, lightning up the lighter again, ‘or she dies a slow and painful death.’
Tears started running down the girl’s cheeks. She was terrified. Her limbs hurt from being in an awkward position for too long and her stomach hurt from getting kicked at too much. Her head was pounding and she was getting trouble breathing due to the gasoline. She knew her brother and his team were doing everything they could to safe her, but it took them too long. She was running out of time. She would be dead before he got there. She hoped she would bleed to death instead of burning. Y/N could see the man standing up and walking away from her. Her eyes fell shut and she didn’t try to struggle. She was exhausted and wanted everything to be over with.
Six hours before
‘I can’t believe you said that to him,’ Y/N laughed at her friend, Avery as they were walking down the streets of Chicago, ‘you probably broke his heart.’ Avery shrugged, earning a laugh from her friend.
‘I already told him I wasn’t interested. It’s his own fault that he asked me out anyway.’
‘I guess you could say that.’ Y/N said softly. She felt bad for that guy. Avery was a beautiful girl. Her blonde curls almost looked like they were made out of gold and her eyes were bluer than the ocean. She always had a beautiful smile on her face and her happy mood was contagious. Everyone loved her. It wasn’t new to her to be asked out by someone, but she was extremely picky when it came to boys. She would always turn them down and Y/N felt bad for these boys for even trying. ‘Have you heard about the new cafĂ© downtown? I heard they made it look like a beach and that they sell delicious cocktails.’ the girl didn’t recall what the cafĂ© was called, but she did remember where it was located at.
‘Yeah, I have. Isn’t it called pink beach or something?’ Avery said as they waited in front of a traffic light shining bright red.
‘Oh yeah! That’s what it’s called!’ Y/N tried to keep up with Avery as they crossed the street. It was really crowded today as they were accidentally bumping into a lot of people. ‘Do you want to go there?’
‘Why not?’ The two girls made their way downtown, chatting about prom that was in a couple of weeks. Both of them still needed to buy a dress and they decided to go shopping together. When the girls had to stop in front of a traffic light again, Y/N saw a man standing not too far away from them. He was wearing a grey hoodie of which he put the hood over his head. His hands were in his pockets and he was staring at the girls, especially Y/N. She didn’t think much of it at first, because, unfortunately, many men stared at her on the streets. However, she noticed that when they continued walking, the man was following them. She nudged Avery, who in return, furrowed her eyebrows.
‘Don’t look, but I think we’re being followed.’ Y/N whispered.
‘What? By who?’ Avery tried to look from the corner of her eye, but she couldn't see anyone.
‘I don’t know. Some random dude.’ The girl looked behind them and let out a sigh of relief when she saw that the man was gone. ‘I think he’s gone.’
Avery and Y/N stopped walking and turned around. The man was indeed gone. ‘Thank god,’ Avery sighed. 'you scared me there, Y/N.'
Y/N apologised sheepishly and started turning around to continue their way towards the pink beach, but was stopped when she felt a hand covering her mouth. Her instincts kicked in and she tried to kick the person who was pulling her into an alleyway only to be hit on the head. She could feel that she started bleeding, but before she could do anything, her vision turned black.
Y/N woke up tied to a chair. Her hands were tied to the back and her feet were tied to it’s legs. She quickly observed her surroundings and found herself in the middle of the room of what seemed like an abandoned building. In front of her sat Avery who was also tied to a chair. Y/N wanted to scream out to her friend, but her voice came out muffled. Her mouth was taped shut. She tried to scoot closer to Avery, but she couldn’t move the chair. She then heard footsteps behind her. The girl tried to move her head and see who was coming for her, but she couldn’t see them.
‘I’m glad you’re awake, Y/N,’ said a deep voice. How did they know her name? ‘It’s a shame your friend got dragged into this, really.’ The person walked around her and stopped in front of the girl. Y/N recognised the person. It was the same man who she thought followed her and Avery downtown.
‘Hmm..’ she tried to speak. The man laughed at her.
‘Maybe I should pull this off.’ He grabbed the duct tape and pulled it away from her mouth.
‘Who are you and how do know my name?’ was the first thing she asked. She didn’t have a reason to be kidnapped, for she didn’t do anything wrong. She didn’t hang out with the wrong people and never broke the law or got into a physical fight.
‘Your brother knows me. He owes me some money.’ The man crossed his arms over his chest and looked at you.
‘Which one? And how much does he owe you?’ she asked, already fearing an answer.
‘The detective. He owes me one million dollars and he’s gonna pay it today or he’s gonna regret it.’ How did Jay get into a dept of one million dollars? Y/N knew that if he was short on money he would just ask Will or a close friend. She knew this man was not a friend of your brother’s, since she knew every single one of them.
‘Why does he owe you?” the girl asked. Maybe he made a mistake. Maybe he was looking for another man called Jay who has a sister called Y/N. But what were the odds of that?
‘He killed my homie six years ago. We were on our way to sell some stuff, but someone snitched on us. We were on our way to go, when those fuckers showed up. We got out of the truck with our hands up but my guy tripped and you brother shot him right in his shoulder. The man died the next day. That motherfucker took all of our stuff too! I got arrested, but my cousin bailed me out. Tried to help me get back on my feet when he got snitched too. Guess by who? Jay fucking Halstead. He took someone I cared about! He took my money! I had been living on the street ever since. Now it is time to pay him pack, to make him regret what he did. He killed someone who was important to me, now I’m gonna kill someone who is important to him.’ He grabbed a gun from his pants and aimed it at Jay’s sister.
‘No, no, no, no. Please, don’t! He can pay you back! Please, just give him some time.’ Tears started rolling down Y/N’s cheeks and her heart started beating faster, pumping the adrenaline through her body.
‘How is he gonna pay me back from a cop salary? You know what his apartment looks like! It’s barely big enough for himself.’
‘Living in Chicago is expensive, you know?’ the girl tried to remain calm. Jay was going to find her. She knew it. He worked with the best detectives of the city. They would find a way.
Y/N felt a burning sensation on her cheek as she got slapped across the face. ‘Don’t talk back to me, bitch.’ The man put back the duct tape and punched the girl again whose nose was now bleeding.
‘Matt, grab a camera!’ he yelled. Y/N could hear some movement from the other side of the room. She didn’t know someone else was here too. Another man came up in front of her. She noticed that he was wearing a hoodie too. A black bandana was wrapped around his head.
The man called Matt handed an old camera to the man who kidnapped Y/N and Avery. He flipped it open and turned it on, focusing on Y/N. ‘Beat her,’ he said to Matt, who complied. He punched Y/N on the nose, sending her head backwards. The girl groaned as he hit her again on the same spot.
‘Mhmm!’ she tried to scream, forgetting that her mouth was taped shut. She felt a stinging sensation and knew her nose was broken. Blood started running down her face and Y/N held in another groan.
‘You see this, Halstead?’ the man who was recording asked. ‘This is what happens when you fuck with the wrong people.’ Matt kicked Y/N in the stomach. The chair fell backwards and the girl hit her head on the hard ground.
‘You got eight hours to get me my million dollars back, or your little sister dies.’ He turned around and walked over to where Avery was sitting. Her head hung slightly forward and her eyes were closed, indicating that she was still knocked-out. ‘I also got her friend right here. I can kill her too, you know?’ the man walked back towards Y/N, whose chair was now up again. She looked into the camera with pain and fear in her eyes.
‘You know where to find me.’ The kidnapper closed the camera and took the tape out of the device before handing it out to Matt. ‘Get Casey and bring this to Jay Halstead. Do it quick and don’t leave any traces.’
Same time at the district
‘We interrogated his girlfriend. She claimed to be at the hotel when he got shot, but I got some weird vibes off of her. I don’t think she shot him, but I suspect her knowing the person who did.’ Adam Ruzek said as he made some notes on the board. All of intelligence was standing around him, analysing their evidence.
‘Has she talked about anyone else?’ asked Voight.
‘No, she did-‘ Adam was cut off by Trudy Platt running up the stairs.
‘Halstead, someone dropped this off for you. Said it was urgent.’ She walked over to Jay who stood up from his desk, a frown plastered on his face. The sergeant handed him an envelope with a tape in it.
‘Who gave this to you?’ Jay opened the envelope and got out the disk. He quickly made his way over to his desk and plugged it in his computer.
‘I don’t know. It was a young man, but he gave it and just.. ran off.’
‘You see this, Halstead?’ sounded the voice of the man through the speakers. Everyone in intelligence walked around Jay’s desk to see what was happening. Kim gasped when she saw Y/N. She was taken hostage! She quickly put a hand on Jay’s shoulder. Everyone watched in silence as the kidnapper threatened to kill Y/N and Avery.
‘How do you know him?’ Hailey asked the now as pale as a ghost, Jay who ran his hands over his face.
‘I arrested him a couple of years ago. His name is Jason and he was one of the biggest drug smugglers we caught at that time.’ Y/N’s brother tried desperately to keep his voice from shaking, but he failed. ‘He has my sister, goddammit!’ Jay hit his fists on the desk. He didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t think straight right now. If it were just Avery he would be able to handle this perfectly, but now? He loved Y/N. His world meant nothing if it weren’t for her.
‘Alright, calm down.’ Voight said. ‘We’re putting the murder-case on hold. Right now, our priority is to get Y/N and her friend out of there alive. I want you to look up Jason’s files.’ He told Kevin before asking: ‘Does anyone recognise the area?’
‘I saw a vessel for radioactive waste,’ Burgess said.
‘That’s great. Anything else?’ Ruzek put his hand on his chin as he thought.
‘I saw a scaffolding inside of the building.’ Atwater moved closer as Jay pressed the replay button on his computer. The video started playing again and they could see Y/N get beaten up again, but none of them focused on that, or at least, they tried not to. Kim, Hailey, Adam, Kevin and Voight stood around Jay to try to find anything in the recording that could help them figure out where the kidnapper was holding Y/N and Avery.
Jay couldn’t help himself from letting his eyes travel back to Y/N who was recorded laying on the ground. He could see the blood pouring out of her head and the way that she squeezed her eyes shut was indicating that she was in a lot of pain. He let his mind wonder to what he would do to Jason if he caught him. Jay had sworn that he would protect his family at all costs and seeing his sister like this, laying there on the ground, helpless, made his blood boil.
‘Look, right there.’ Hailey quickly paused the video, which was currently playing for the fourth time,  as Jason turned around to Avery. ‘There is a sign right over there.’ She said as she pointed towards an old sign on which the name of the brand was unreadable. Under the name were a few words that were clearly visible though and Hailey read them out loud: ‘”Your quality metal producers.” So it must have been a metal factory then.’
‘Alright, look for every metal factory in Chicago. See if you can find some abandoned ones.’ Voight put his hand on Jay’s shoulder, who was sitting still with his face in his hands, ‘come with me, kid.’
Jay looked at Hailey first, who gave him a reassuring nod, before getting up after Voight. ‘Close the door, will you?’ he asked. Jay silently closed the door behind him and looked at his boss.
‘I know this is hard for you, but the man who’s got Y/N wants you and only you to bring him the money. Are you capable of doing that?’
Jay straightened his back, ‘I can do that, Sarge. She’s my sister and I have to safe her. I will never forgive myself if anything happens to her.’
Hank put a hand on Jay’s shoulder and squeezed it reassuringly. ‘Whatever happens to her is not your fault. We’re gonna catch this guy, with or without you. It is up to you if you want to join us. I stand by every decision you make.’
Jay fell quiet for a second and had to get his emotions together before he spoke: ‘Thank you, Sarge.’ He thought for a second before asking; ‘should I call my brother?’
‘Not yet. I don’t want him to go look for her himself.’ Jay nodded and they left Voight’s office.
‘Sarge, we found some places we think Y/N might be.’ Kevin was sat at his desk with Adam leaning over his shoulder. Both of them were looking at Jay and Voight.
‘I don’t want maybe’s. I need certainty. Go look further. Kim and Hailey, I want you to cover the money.’ The four detectives nodded and went back to work. Kim and Hailey left while Adam and Kevin started watching the video again, looking for more clues on where Y/N and Avery were.
‘What am I supposed to do?’ Jay asked, crossing his arms.
‘Nothing. You can’t work right now. Just let them do their thing.’ Voight said as he left for his office again. Y/N’s brother huffed and settled back in his chair behind the desk. He didn’t want to sit there doing nothing! His sister’s life was at stake and he had to do something! If she dies.. Jay shuddered and ran his hands over his face again. Y/N looked terrible. Her nose was broken and had blood pouring out of it, her face was bruised and probably the rest of her body too. He didn’t want to think about what they were doing to Y/N right now. Jay remembered that the men didn’t hurt Avery in the video. He couldn’t see her clearly, but he could see that she wasn’t awake. He hoped that she was just unconscious and not dead. He would never forgive himself if anything bad happened to either Y/N or Avery. He sighed and starting playing the video on his computer again. He couldn’t sit there and do nothing. He might as well be looking for any clues that could safe your lifes.

Nightmares
A halstead!sister oneshot
Summary: Y/N is 8 years old and has a nightmare about her brother Jay getting shot. After waking up from her nightmare, she sneaks into his bedroom to check if he’s okay. Jay, however wakes up and gets worried when he hears that his little sister is crying.
Warnings: death

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dream Y/N was patiently waiting in front of her school, ready to get picked up by her brother. You rubbed your hands together, trying to warm them form the cold Chicago winter. You raised your eyebrows in suspicion when you saw Will’s car pulling up. You didn’t hesitate any longer and quickly made your way over towards your eldest brother.
‘I thought Jay was going to pick me up from school today,’ you said as you fastened your seatbelt. Your red-haired brother sighed as he tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, avoiding looking at you by staring out the window in front him.
‘Will?’ you asked again. This time he did look at you, but you wish he hadn’t. His eyes were filled with worry as they met yours.
‘Jay is in the hospital, Y/N.’ your brother said softly.
You felt your heart sink and before you knew it, you started bombarding Will with questions. ‘What happened? Is he going to be okay? Is he coming home with us? Is he going to die?’
‘No, Y/N, I’m afraid Jay isn’t coming home with us today.’ Your eyes filled with tears as you thought about all the things that could have happened to your other brother. He could have been hit by a car, he could have been in a fight or worse; he could have been shot. Being a police officer wasn’t a job that came without risks.
‘What happened to him?’ you asked as a sob escaped from your mouth. You desperately tried not to think of the worst that could have happened.
‘He got shot..’ your brothers’ voice was soft as he spoke and you could hear the grief through his words.
‘What?!’ you grabbed onto Will’s arm and shook it as hard as you can. ‘Bring me to him! You have to bring me to him, Will!’
Will sighed as he put his big hand on top of your small ones. ‘I don’t think that’s such a good idea sweetheart.’
‘Yes it is! I want to see him! Please, Will.’ You begged him as tears started streaming down your face.
He sighed and looked at you for a moment before answering. ‘Alright then..’
The drive to the hospital took too long for your liking. As soon as Will pulled over you unfastened your seatbelt and went to open the door. You sighed as you remembered that Will put on the child lock. ‘Really, Will?’
‘You’re eight years old, Y/N. It’s for your own protection.’ You sighed at Will’s words. You knew Jay and him wanted you to be safe, but it didn’t come in handy today. You just wanted to go to your brother. You wanted to see if he was still alive.
‘Open the door! I want to see Jay!’ you yelled, crossing your arm as you pouted your lips.
‘I understand your fear sweetheart, but I need you to be calm. Can you do that for me, Y/N? For Jay?’ you took a deep breath and nodded at your brother who stepped out of the car and opened the door for you. You took his hand and Will guided you inside the hospital. The moment you walked through the doors, you felt your heart rate go up. You hoped that Jay was okay, but you doubted it, seeing your eldest brother like this. Will was usually the one who kept his hopes up, but his behaviour made you feel despondent.
When the two of you reached the room Jay was in, you saw Connor standing there with a troubled look on his face. You didn’t quite understand what that look meant, but you figured it out soon enough when Will put his arm around you and pulled you into him. ‘I’m so sorry,’ Connor’s voice was filled with sympathy when he spoke to your brother. ‘He was stable when he got here, but he’s lost too much blood.’
Hot tears started to run down your cheeks. Your brother was dead and you didn’t get the chance to say goodbye. Unwillingly, you compared this situation to when your father died. You never said goodbye to him either.  It was unfair! Why did Jay have to die? He was so young! He was supposed to take care of you until you were old enough to take care of yourself. He promised you he wouldn’t leave you alone.
‘It’s unfair!’ you cried out as you tried to release yourself from Will’s grip. ‘He can’t die! He has to take care of me! He promised me he would be there for me! He promised!’
Will hold onto you as your knees began to tremble beneath you. ‘It’s okay, Y/N. Breathe with me, okay?’ You heard his words but they didn’t form a logical sentence in your head.
‘You can see him if you want,’ Connor said softly as he placed a hand on your shoulder. You nodded hastily as you tried to steady yourself on Will. ‘Please, take your time. And if you need anything, you can ask April, Maggie or me. We’re so sorry.’
Will quickly thanked Doctor Rhodes and guided you towards Jay. You didn’t want to step inside when you saw the lifeless body of your beloved brother laying there. ‘This is a dream right?’ you asked as both you and Will made your ways over to the bed your brother was laying in.
‘What?’ Will stopped dead in his tracks when the words left your mouth. He slowly turned around to look at you. ‘What did you say?’
Bewildered by his sudden change in behaviour, you managed to stammer out a few words. ‘I-I said.. this can’t be real, right, Will? Please tell me that this is just a dream and that Jay is okay. Please!’ the look on your brothers’ face hardened as he swallowed hard and clenched his hands into fists.
‘Jay is dead. Is that so hard to understand, Y/N? Jay is gone, he’s never coming back!’ You felt your throat tighten and your breathing started to fasten. You have never seen your brother like this. Why would he be so angry at you? Your brother just died and he pretended like it was nothing!
‘NO! This has to be a dream! Will would never talk to me like that!’ you looked up at the red-head as his eyes embodied a dark glow, glaring at you.
‘Don’t you dare speak to me like that, child!’ Will’s eyes weren’t the only thing that got darker. His voice got deeper and his face started to slowly change into someone you didn’t recognise. You found yourself panicking as the now unfamiliar man grabbed onto your shoulders and pushed you against the wall. He raised his hand and swung it towards you.
You felt yourself sitting up quickly, gasping for breath as you tried to calm down your racing heart. Your let your eyes adjust to the dark and felt your body relax when you absorbed your surroundings. You were sitting in your bed. You were at home. It was a dream. Or wasn’t it? You quickly got out of bed and ran towards Jay’s bedroom. You ran as fast as your little legs could carry you and you almost tripped over the carpet as you did.
You didn’t hesitate when you reached Jay’s door. You opened it quickly and ran to his bed. ‘Jay!’ You tried to shake him awake, resulting in some groans coming from his mouth. That was a good thing, right? That meant that he was alive, right?
‘Jay, wake up!’ you jumped on the bed and shook him even harder. ‘Please, wake up!’
Your brothers’ eyes shot open and he quickly sat up straight. ‘Y/N? What’s going on? Did someone break in?’
Your eyes started tearing up when you heard his voice. He was alive. You quickly put your arms around him, afraid that if you didn’t he would vanish.
‘Y/N?’ he asked again. This time a little more calm.
‘You’re alive.’ Was all you said as hot tears started running down your cheeks.
Jay put his hands on your shoulders and softly pulled away from your embrace. ‘Of course I am, sweetie. Did you have a nightmare?’
‘Yes, a very bad one. You died, Jay and Will turned into a scary man.’ Your brother looked at you with sympathy.
‘I am sorry, Y/N.’ he pulled you in for a hug again. You immediately wrapped your arms around him and buried your face in his neck. You sobbed as he soothed you by rubbing your back. ‘It’s okay, I’m here.’ He whispered.
You pulled away from him and smiled slightly. ‘Can I sleep with you tonight?’
Jay wiped your tears away as he nodded. ‘Sure, kiddo.’ He moved aside and let you snuggle into his chest.
‘I love you,’ you whispered as you pulled yourself close to him.
‘I love you too,’ Jay kissed the top of your head and you quickly fell asleep, feeling safe that you were in his arms, and glad that he was still alive.

Father’s day
A halstead!sister oneshot
Summary: It’s father’s day and Y/N wanted to thank Will and Jay for everything they have done for her, so she reserved at a restaurant downtown and bought them a special gift.
Warnings: none
Word count: 1341
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This night had to be perfect. Today is father’s day and, since Jay and Will took the role of parenthood on them after your dad died, you thought it would be nice to put them in the spotlight today. You had reserved for dinner at a fancy restaurant downtown and you had also bought them a gift you were sure they were going to like.
You were currently standing in front of your mirror, admiring your look for the night. You were wearing a white dress that reached just above your knees. The dress had these puffy sleeves that you really liked and it fit your body perfectly. You had your hair down and tied the front strands to the back using a little clip. You went light with the make-up; you had applied some mascara, blush and a light pink lip-gloss. You swirled around and took one last look at yourself before you grabbed your purse and keys and headed out.
You had to go there by yourself since Will was still at work and Jay got called in to do some detective work today. The three of you agreed to meet at the restaurant and you were surprised to see that it was just Jay who was standing there. It wasn’t common for Will to be late, for it was usually Jay. You parked your car not too far from where he was standing and grabbed your purse that you put on the passenger’s seat before getting out and locking the doors. A cold breeze made you shiver and you regretted not bringing a jacket with you. You put your arms around your body in an attempt to warm yourself a little and quickly made your way over towards your older brother who was leaning on a porch with his hands in his pockets. A small smile crept on his face when he saw you.
‘Hey, short stack,’ he straightened himself and you enveloped him in a big hug. ‘Hey, Jay-Jay,’ you used the nickname you gave him when you were six, resulting in getting poked in your sides. You laughed and swatted his hands away.
‘Where is Will?’ you asked.
‘He is on his way, got a new patient right before his shift ended. He should be here in five.’ Jay got back to leaning on the same porch and crossed his hands over his head. ‘So, what’s the occasion?’ he asked, referring to the fancy restaurant that you were standing in front of.
‘Well,’ you said as a smile crept on your face. ‘Today is father’s day and I wanted to do something special for you guys.’ You clasped your hands in front of you, trying to act innocent. You were planning on giving Jay and Will their gift during dinner.
Jay hummed and raised one eyebrow at you. ‘Do I have to be scared?’ He asked, earning a laugh from you.
‘Maybe,’ you joked before looking at what he was wearing. ‘Really, Jay? Couldn’t you at least try to wear something nice?’
Your brother raised a cocky eyebrow at you, ‘I am wearing something nice.’ You sighed at his bad taste of fashion.
‘Yeah, a shirt and some worn-out jeans are really fancy.’
‘Don’t forget the boots,’ he joked, to which you shook your head.
‘I hope Will made a better decision on what he is wearing.’ You said, earning a soft punch against your arm.
‘Shut up.’
A comfortable silence fell between you and you were glad to see Will’s car pull up in front of you. Finally, you thought. You were getting chilly.
‘Finally. We’ve been waiting for like an hour.’ Jay joked as your eldest brother got out of his car.
‘Don’t act like you’re never late, Jay. I’m honestly surprised to see you got here on time.’ Will said, earning a laugh from both of his siblings, before turning to you. ‘I’m glad to see you, Y/N.’
‘I’m glad you came.’ You said as you wrapped your arms around him, enveloping him in a quick hug before you led both of your brothers inside.
A waitress greeted the three of you and guided you to your table, which was located at the back of the restaurant, giving you a nice view of the lake across the area. She lit up two candles and put them in the middle of your table before handing the three of you your menu’s. ‘Please, take your time. I will be with you shortly.’ She smiled at you and your brothers before walking away.
‘Y/N,’ Will started, ‘this is one of the most luxury restaurants in Chicago. How are you going to pay for all of this?’ his brows furrowed when he looked at the prices on the menu. You smiled at your brother, knowing he was going to offer to pay for himself.
‘I do have a job, you know?’
‘I know that, but-‘
‘Dude, don’t ask. Free food for us.’ Jay nudged his brother, who shook his head. You knew Will felt guilty because you didn’t earn nearly half of what your brothers made. But you saved money all year for this night because Will and Jay deserved it. They had done so much for you and you didn’t know how to thank them.
‘Thank you, Y/N.’ Will smiled and you shrugged it off.
‘Don’t thank me yet,’ you said, to which he furrowed his eyebrows.
‘Yet? What do you mean, yet?’ you smiled as you grabbed your purse off of the chair that was standing next to you.
‘Well, I have a surprise for you, but I wanted to give it to you after dinner.’ You grabbed two tickets to the Blackhawks game this season and put them on the table in front of Jay and Will. Both of them stared at the tickets in disbelief. It took them a while to process it and after a couple of seconds, Jay was the first one to speak.
‘Y/N..’ he said softly and grabbed one of the tickets, flipping it around and checking it as if he didn’t believe they were real. ‘What did we do to deserve this?’
You smiled widely when you saw that Will, too, grabbed a ticket and seemed to check if it was legit. ‘Today is father’s day, and I figured, since you guys took care of me after dad died, that you deserved a big thank you. I don’t know where I would be if it weren’t for you guys.’
‘You didn’t have to thank us like this. I would have appreciated a simple thank you and a hug. I don’t want you to spend all your money on us.’ Will looked at you and it seemed like he had tears in his eyes. It could have just been the lightning though, but you swear that you could see a shimmer in them. You looked over to Jay, who was exchanging glances between you and the ticket in his hand. He had a wide smile on his face, one you haven’t seen in a while. It warmed your heart to see your brothers like this. They deserved it after all.
‘I don’t mind spending money on you. Besides, it is nothing compared to how much extra you have spent on me. You deserve it, really. You are the best brothers a person could wish for.’
Your brothers quickly exchanged glances before standing up and walking to the other side of the table, where you were sitting. You stood up as well and spread your arms for a big group hug.
‘Thank you so much, Y/N.’ Jay said as he planted a kiss on your head. ‘I love you.’ His actions were quickly followed by Will.
‘I love you too guys.’
Right after you broke the hug, the waitress got back to you and asked if you had already decided on what you wanted to order. The three of you each said what you would like to eat and you spent the rest of the night enjoying each other’s company.
