It had only been a few weeks since your late night run in with Jay, embarrassment still following you when you passed him.
Not that he poked fun at you. Jay halstead wasn’t that big of an asshole. People had fears and he respected that. Everyone had something they were scared of. Even people that swore they didn’t.
Even him. Though his wasn’t as simple as bugs crawling or flying around his apartment. Or even heights. It wasn’t something as normal, as mundane as that. No.
What Jay feared, was being alone. Truly alone. He’d never admit it of course, but having his team by his side always made him feel better. The late nights at Molly’s. Invitations to come and watch a movie or a game, anything.
He grasped at all of it, holding onto it like a life preserver. Especially after tough cases. When the events of the day took a toll on him in ways nobody would ever understand. All he wanted was to ignore it and have someone by him that would keep him sane.
And usually he did. Hailey was a great partner, she rarely let him go home upset, always offering a shoulder to cry on. But this case? He screwed everything up. Got too close.
Took too many risks. And now he was isolating himself. Letting his team cool off before he talked to them, knowing each and every one of them had some choice words that they wanted to say to him.
You knew something was off when he didn’t react to your parking, instead silently getting out of his passenger side, closing the door without even slamming it in annoyance. Part of you even felt bad for possibly making his night worse as he trudged his way to the building.
It felt like an alternate universe had opened up and swallowed you whole. The man had held both the front door to the building open for you and made sure you were in the elevator before pushing the close door button.
If you had been any closer, you would have asked him what was wrong. If there was anything you could do. But you weren’t. The two of you were barely acquainted with one another, enemies if anything. So instead you stood silently, back to the corner.
Once on your floor you went to your door, stopping as you watched Jay go past, a light sigh leaving your lips, “Hey,” Your voice nearly made him jump, slightly looking up with a tilt of his head.
“I don’t know what has you all moody but, if you wanna talk…” You trailed off, the man muttering a thanks before going inside, leaving you in the silence that followed.
Awkwardly, you went inside, heating up some leftover pizza before changing into some pajamas. It was a Friday which meant no work for the next two days which also meant wine and shitty movies.
At least that’s what you expected as you sat, getting almost an hour into the film you decided on and about quarter of a bottle of wine, when there was a knock on your front door.
With a confused look you stood, heading to the door and peering through the peep hole. Jay was standing on the opposite side, hands in his pockets as he stood a reasonable distance from the door.
Instantly you opened it, looking up at him. “I uh, I was hoping to take you up on that offer.” Jay muttered, partially ashamed that he caved, leaving his apartment to come talk.
But he also knew if he didn’t get all of it off his chest then he might implode. Which wouldn’t be very good. “Yeah, yeah of course,” You stepped aside, letting the clearly distraught man in. “Do you want something to drink? I’m currently downing wine but I have beer, and water or something.”
Jay shook his head, “A beers okay, if you’re sure.” He attempted to not feel like a burden to you, clearly not sure what he was allowed to do, or say or touch.
It wasn’t like he was your best friend or something.
You nodded towards the living room, handing him the bottle of beer you grabbed before moving back to the couch. He took the spot on the opposite end, sitting practically on the edge with his leg bouncing.
“Are you okay?” Your voice was soft, the instinct to comfort taking over any sort of feeling you generally had for the detective.
Jay let out a dry laugh as he shook his head, a soft sniffle following that you pretended you didn’t hear. “I would say yes but if that were true I wouldn’t have come over here. So.” He shrugged, answering the question with a non-answer.
You shifted forward, leaning to try and see his face. (Spoiler: you failed) “Is there anything I can actually do? Do you just wanna sit here? Talk about it? Ignore it?” There was no way you could not ask him those questions.
He was on your couch, solemn look on his face as he drank the beer. “My entire team is pissed at me. Not that it isn’t deserved, I screwed up our case today and it’s going to backfire on all of us. But I just,” Jay sighed heavily, “A boy almost died and I had to do what I did.”
There was a moment of silence before he looked over at you. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come here I just… I hate being alone and you’re the only person that doesn’t hate hate me.” Jay shook his head.
“Well, doesn’t hate me enough to kick me out.” He corrected, chewing at the inside of his cheek. “Which you can totally do if you want to.” Jay huffed out, taking a long sip from the bottle.
You shook your head, “You obviously need someone, I wouldn’t kick you out. Not when you’re like this. You can stay here as long as you need to.” Hesitantly you put a hand on his back, feeling him tense under your touch.
“Did whatever you did at least work?” You attempted to make conversation, a small smile cracking on his face as he nodded.
“Yeah, it did. The kid’s safe. Back home with his family.” He took pride in what he did as a detective. Most, if not all, of the choices he made on the job were things he was proud to do.
Jay was good at his job, he knew what he was doing and he didn’t care what happened if it meant the people he needed to get to were safe. “Good, that’s good.” You breathed out, unsure about what to say next.
This was all uncharted territory and honestly, it was weird. One of two times Jay Halstead was in your apartment and he was nearly in tears. Not something you were used to.
A slight chuckle came from the man, pulling your attention back to him, “Are you seriously watching this movie?” He had tried to use the film you had on in the background to distract himself, laughter building up as he shook his head.
“What- it’s my night for shitty movies shut up,” You nudged his side, face scrunched up as you did. Jay held a hand up defensively, nodding as he did.
“Well you sure did pick a shitty one.”
“Yeah yeah, I bet you have great taste in movies.” You replied with a roll of the eyes, Jay sitting back against the couch, actually relaxing a bit.
As he tried to stop the laughter, he nodded again, “I definitely do.” Jay answered matter of factly, looking over at you. For the first time you noticed the slight rim of red around his eyes, like he’d been crying before he even got to yours.
It almost made you want to hug him, seeing people in pain never felt right. “Fine, here,” You tugged yourself out of your thoughts, reaching to grab the remote that was handed to him seconds later. “Put something better on.”
“I will.” Jay took the remote, flipping for a movie he liked and that’s how the rest of the night went. On your couch, watching a movie with the person you least expected.

Break Through Au
Word Count: 1.6k
Summary: You go out ice skating on the lake with your brothers and Things don’t go as planned for you three
Warnings: CPR/Death, Falling through Ice, Hospitals, Yelling
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were on the ice with your brothers Will and Jay, even though you weren’t allowed to, you guys still went regardless.
It was 10pm, no one would be out here to get in your way or yell at you to get off the ice.
“Cmon Y/n/n, it's better out here” Jay said while attempting to slide farther out to the lake.
“I don’t know Jay, I kinda wanna stay over here. That way I get off easier than struggling to get off if I'm way over there.” you shrugged.
“Alright then, me and will be over there if you need us' ' He pointed towards the middle of the lake.
“Alright, I’m just gonna slide around.” You shivered. Maybe I should work more layers. You thought to yourself.
After a while you got bored and decided to go over to Will and Jay who were “fighting” over who got the better hockey stick.
Will pulled out his phone and checked the time. “Guys it’s 11 o'clock, she should head home now, if we all get a cold moms gonna know that we went outside without asking her, especially if Y/n gets sick”
“But I'm getting good at hockey,” you whined.
Will and Jay just have you that look. “Alright alright let’s go” You caved.
Because your brothers were better on ice than you were, they went up ahead of you.
“GUYS! I'M NOT AS FAST AS YOU SLOW DO-“ Before you could finish your sentence a loud Crack interrupted you.
That made the two Halstead brothers come to a halt and turn around to you. “No,” Jay whispered. “Y/n don’t move, just stay still we’ll come to you”
Before you could say anything the Ice broke.
Jays pov:
“Y/N, SHIT NO” I screamed, my little sister just fell through the ice.
Me and Will immediately slide over to where she fell in and I immediately throw my whole arm in the freezing water to see if I can feel Y/n
“Give me your other arm so I can pull you once you get her!” Will shouts.
“Once I touch something that feels semi to a human arm I pull. I can tell it’s Y/n because once I pull I feel a bit of weight.
“PULL WILL, PULL”
Once we were towards the edge of the Lake I pick y/n up bridal style and rushed over to land.
“Put her down here.” Will says.
“What the hell do we do?” I cry
“She’s not breathing, Jay, you need to run back to the house and call someone” Wills is studying medicine so he knows a couple of things about what to do in a life or death situation.
“WHO DO I CALL?” I shout
“I DO GIVE A FUCK, CALL 9-1-1 AND HURRY”
My body moves into autopilot as I’m running through the forest making sure I don’t trip on any rocks or roots.
My legs are burning and I can’t breathe but I can’t stop, if I stop Y/ns gonna die and it’ll be all my fault.
As I reach the house I punch in the code to the door and run upstairs to my bedroom.
I basically almost threw my  phone into the air while trying to pick it up.
“9-1-1 what’s your emergency?”
“It’s -it’s my sister, she fell into the lake and I don’t know if she’s breathing”
“Check if she has a pulse”
“My older brother is with her at the lake, he-he's studying medicine so he knows what he’s doing”
“What’s your name sweetheart?”
“Uhh jay, my names Jay”
“Alright Jay, How old is your sister and how long was she under water for?”
“I don’t- 5 minutes maybe, and her name is Y/n, but we all call her Y/n/n. I don't know what I’m gonna tell my mom, that my littler sister died because we didn’t listen to her?” I’m panicking.
“Jay, I’m gonna need you to take a deep breath, I have help coming on the way right now”
How did she get my location? I didn’t even tell her.
***
The paramedics arrived and Jay led them to the lake where Will was with you.
Will did successfully get you back but you were still unconscious.
Why didn’t we just listen?
***
“15 Year old Female Y/n Halstead, Hypothermia after falling through ice, Was unconscious on site and Has a history of Heart issues.” The paramedic listed off all the things
(Ik that Grey's anatomy is in Seattle but because the show is so old let’s just pretend that this happened with them, it’s been awhile since I’ve watched it so if I make mistakes Woops)
“Alright,on my count if we move her. 1…2…3”Alex said.
Alex looked you over and started telling Jo things to do. “I want a head Ct, Keep me updated on her temperature and get me Derek for a consult.” Jo nodded.
Jay and Will followed Dr. Karev outside. “Is she gonna be ok?” Jay asked.
“She’s not out of the woods yet, but we won’t know more until she wakes up which will be a couple of hours”
***
“Jay Halstead and Will Halstead” A stern voice called to them that made them Gulp.
“What in the world happened, and why did the Atwater’s call me and say that something happened on the lake and I needed to come home?” Your Mom stoked with her hands on her hips.
Jay and Will glanced at each other and knew they had no way out of this so they just decided to tell the truth and get it over with.
“I have told you guys time and time again not to play on that lake during the winter,
If you want to go ice skating go to the bigger one. Y/n has been punished enough, and as for you too, just until we get home, me and your father Will real with you. Do you understand?”
“Yes mom,” The boys said together.
“Alright, either the Atwater’s or the Uptons are going to pick you guys up and take you home. I will stay here with your sister, your father should be at home by now”
“But mom-“ Jay said. “No buts, wait here”
***
It had been a couple of weeks since the incident and A lot had happened.
You were on the News, people came to your school and spoke about Ice safety. Jay and Will were indeed grounded but only for two weeks. The lake was now closed off while they were still doing an investigation. Which you didn’t understand why because it’s not like anything else happened but it was whatever.
“Y/n hurry up you’re going to miss the bus!” Jay shouted from downstairs.
“HOLD ON IM COMING” You grabbed your backpack and ran down the stairs.
After getting all your stuff in your backpack you got all your stuff ready to walk to the bus stop.
“Alright, what’s the rules?” Will questioned you.
“No wandering off to the other lake, don’t take off my jackets unless I really need to and don’t get anything that will drop my body temperature”
“Good.”
“Do you still have to put my hat and Jacket on for me? I’m 15 years old.”
“Because of recent events and mom being gone and I’m going to leave soon I need to make sure you're ok, plus your body temperature is still not to its normal temp yet so layers it is.” You rolled your eyes at what would be said.
“I will pick you up for your doctor's appointment maybe 30 minutes before school ends, and Jay will drop your lunch off at the front office” Will said as he started walking at the door.
“Bye will see you later”
Once Will was gone, you ate the last of your waffles and grabbed your hot chocolate or what Jays calls “Jay's famous Hot chocolate” but it tasted like any other drink.
***
“I miss having you out on the lake by the middle school” Your friend Ellie said.
“Me too, but ever since my mom died Will and Jay have been strict on what I can do since my dad won’t really do much and they're trying to get me to learn stuff before Will leaves for New York and Jay leaves to serve” You shrugged.
“But I did convince Jay to get you some fries and nuggets” You laughed
“You are literally the best, I really didn’t feel like spending all my money in my account today” Yeah the school food was expensive but it’s because you guys had fast food restaurants in your cafeteria so I guess it made sense.
***
“Hey Nugget” Will greeted you as you got into the car.
“Hi Will, can we please get McDonald’s after my appointment?”
“Sure, where’s Jay? I told him he could get out of school early since he has a free period this week.”
“He said he wanted to stay at school, so he’s probably just walking around the hallways or doing whatever Jay does” You shrugged.
You thought about it for a while, your life was somewhat falling apart. Will was leaving for New York. Jay was getting deployed so you weren’t gonna see him. And your mom was gone so all you had left was your Dad, and your dad wasn’t the best person now since your dad died.
“Hey Will?”You broke the silence
“Yeah Nugget?”
“I’m- I’m gonna miss you when you leave” Here comes the water works.
“Me too Y/n me too”
Life from now on was going to be way different for you , and everyone around you knew that. You were going to get through it and it was going to be Ok. Right?
Well that’s at least what you thought…

Pairings:
Jay Halstead x Ella Bennett(original character)
Background:
Jay Halstead, a dedicated detective on the Chicago PD, had found his heart intertwined with the beautifully stunning Ella. At 28 years old, Jay couldn't help but be drawn to her magnetic presence, her genius-level IQ, and her exceptional skills as an agent. Ella's life had been shaped by harrowing circumstances, forced to join the FBI and go undercover at the tender age of 12 due to her physically abusive and alcoholic father's involvement in drug trafficking.
As they navigated the challenges of their respective careers, Jay made it his priority to keep a watchful eye on Ella, especially during their undercover operations. Ella's constant movement and struggle to concentrate on one thing at a time were reminders of her troubled past. Jay's protective instincts kicked in, knowing the vulnerabilities that lay beneath her stunning exterior.
Ella's reputation as the best undercover agent on her team and her powerful connections made her a formidable force in the field. Her expertise in hand-to-hand combat, particularly her use of pressure points, was unmatched. But it was her brilliant mind, running a thousand miles a minute, that truly captivated Jay.
Recognizing Ella's need for physical activity to combat her restlessness, Jay often joined her on runs, providing both a source of companionship and a way to channel her energy. As Ella danced around the room, Jay couldn't help but be turned on by her uninhibited expression of self. Her grace and fluidity were a testament to her vibrant spirit, and it ignited a fire within Jay.
**********************
One fateful day, while pursuing a suspect on the run, Ella found herself injured and in need of medical attention. Fear gripped her heart as memories of her traumatic past in hospitals resurfaced. Jay, knowing the depth of her trauma, was determined to be by her side and provide the comfort she needed.
As they arrived at the hospital, Jay held Ella's trembling hand, his touch speaking volumes of his unwavering support. Ella tried to muster the strength to convince Jay to help her escape, her anxiety heightening as they entered the examination room. A male doctor entered, ready to tend to Ella's injuries, but his demeanor quickly shifted from professional to inappropriate.
Jay's protective instincts surged forth, his jaw clenching as he observed the doctor's unwanted advances towards Ella. Jealousy flared within him, his grip on Ella's hand tightening as he prepared to defend her honor. Though Ella remained completely faithful to Jay, her cluelessness in such situations added to Jay's frustration.
In that moment, Jay stepped forward, his voice laced with a warning edge. "I think that's enough, Doctor. My girlfriend is here for medical attention, not for your personal interests."
Ella, oblivious to the doctor's advances, looked at Jay with confusion before realizing the situation. A sense of relief washed over her, knowing Jay was there to protect her from harm. She clung to his side, finding solace in his unwavering presence.
The doctor, taken aback by Jay's protective stance, hastily backed away, stammering an apology. It was clear that Jay's presence and unwavering protectiveness had set a clear boundary. The doctor quickly tended to Ella's injuries with a newfound sense of professionalism, leaving the room as swiftly as he had entered.
With the doctor gone, Jay turned his attention back to Ella, his eyes filled with love and concern. “I’m gonna get a new doctor”
Ella nodded, a mix of gratitude and affection filling her gaze as she leaned into Jay's touch. In that vulnerable moment, she realized just how lucky she was to have him by her side.
While they were deep in conversation, a new doctor entered the room. It was none other than Jay's older brother, Will Halstead, who had recently joined the hospital staff. A warm smile spread across Will's face as he saw his brother and Ella together, relieved to see that she was in good hands.
Will immediately sensed the tension in the room, noticing Jay's protective stance and Ella's unease. He approached them with a gentle demeanor, assuring Ella that he was there to help and would ensure she received the best care possible.
Ella couldn't help but feel a sense of relief knowing that Jay's brother was now attending to her. She trusted Will and appreciated his presence, given the difficult circumstances. As Will tended to Ella's injury, Jay's jealousy was replaced by gratitude for his brother's expertise and genuine concern.
With his medical duties completed, Will decided to conduct some routine tests to ensure Ella's well-being. As he prepared to draw her blood, Ella's playful nature emerged. She feigned terror, begging Jay to help her escape the dreaded needle. Her words were lighthearted and filled with humor, a testament to her ability to find joy even in challenging situations.
Jay couldn't help but chuckle at Ella's antics, his love for her radiating from his eyes. He played along, pretending to be her accomplice in a grand escape plan. Their banter and laughter filled the room, momentarily dispelling the tension that had lingered just moments ago.
Amidst the jovial atmosphere, Will returned to the room, a wide grin on his face. Sensing something was amiss, Jay and Ella looked at him curiously. With a hint of excitement in his voice, Will delivered the news that left them both stunned and elated.
"Congratulations," he announced, his eyes shining with happiness. "Ella, you're pregnant."
The room seemed to stand still as the magnitude of the news sank in.
“Holy shit, I’m gonna be a dad!” Jay's joy knew no bounds as he wrapped his arms tightly around Ella, his heart filled with an overwhelming mix of emotions. A wave of love and protectiveness washed over him, his focus shifting entirely to the new life growing within Ella.
As they basked in the joy of the revelation, Jay, Ella, and Will shared laughter, tears, and heartfelt embraces. The hospital room transformed into a sanctuary of love and hope, where the past traumas and present worries were eclipsed by the promise of a bright and beautiful future.

ransom (pt1) ☆ jay halstead
Tumblr media
Summary: In which Y/n is kidnapped and the unit receive an atypical ransom video
warnings: language
authors note: this was just a short funny imagine inspired from the tik tok @/billy978 that’s been in my drafts for a while now. hope you enjoy!
PART TWO
“Wait, I think the kidnappers just sent us a video.” Mouse mumbled as his fingers continued to violently slap against his laptop’s keyboard, tongue slightly poked out in concentration. Jay was the first to immediately jump for him to play it. His hands gripping the back of his best friend’s chair as Kevin pulled the monitor to the front of the group that had formed upon hearing the news. They all were insanely worried for the missing member of their team, although they had been working on it so hard they had had little time to let themselves break down quite yet.
“Play it.” Voight instructed. Understanding the order, Mouse nodded his head before clicking on something and suddenly they were all met with a bloody and bruised Y/n on the bigger screen. Jay heard Kim besides him take a quick intake of breath, noticing that her best friend’s condition wasn’t the best. Mouse pressed another button and suddenly the video was playing.
“Hello my name is Y/n and I have been kidnapped- Can you stop pointing that fucking gun at me? You are making me nervous!” Y/n snapped, her eyes darting to the left where an assumed kidnapper was standing. The entire room seemed to freeze as their expectations of seeing an emotionally defeated Y/n was abandoned, as they watched the woman that had been through hell and back shouting at her captors. Jay could read Y/n like a book for kindergarteners, and whilst he had first thought maybe it was the adrenaline talking or a plan to hide her fear, he detected that Y/n was in no such state.
“To ensure my safe return home please pay us one million d- one million dollars? Is that it? Is that what you think I’m worth? I’m not having that…” She mumbled, glaring at the man that stood to her right before directing her eyes back to the camera and smiling. “To ensure my safe return please pay us five hundred million dollars… that’s more like it.”
Adam was soon doubled over in laughter causing the video to be paused as he tried to control his amusement. The unit all looked at one another, as they tried to decode what exactly they were looking at.
“Is she trying to get killed?” Kevin asked, looking more at Jay to answer the question knowing he knew the endangered woman more than anyone in the room. Running his hands over his face, Jay let out a sigh, unsure whether he should be angry or amused at his girlfriend’s behaviour.
“Knowing Y/n…” He started, thinking about his answer carefully. “Probably.” Kim hummed in agreement knowing how the woman enjoyed getting under criminals’ skin, although she’d never imagined she’d do such a thing in this kind of situation.
“Let’s keep watching.” Voight mumbled. Heads turned back to the video as it resumed.
“Honestly this place is such a shit hole. You fellas have money for all these fancy big guns, but can’t afford a vacuum, huh?” Tilting her head, mocking the large men that stood around her with their guns pointed at her, the woman quite literally smirked, not afraid of them or their weapons. “Well you don’t happen to have a hairbrush do you, don’t worry I am not talking to you, baldy,” Winking at the third and final man, Y/n looked to who she assumed was the leader. “Maybe some lip gloss or mascara? You see my boyfriend - you know the hot detective I was telling you fellas about - is going to watch this ransom video and I’d prefer not to look like utter shit.” Leaning forward, she seemed to use what little reflection she could make out in the lens of the camera as a mirror, attempting to flatten her hair and get rid of some dirt from her face.
“Holy sh- She’s insane.” Kim whispered towards Jay, who couldn’t take his eyes off the screen but nodded his head in agreement. As crazy as she may be, he still loved her all the same. Jay felt a small smile try to surface, but he pushed it down upon realizing it probably wasn’t the right time when everyone seemed worried or deeply concerned for Y/n’s wellbeing.
“You have 24 hours to make this payment or else I die- Wait, what? Fuck off. Are you guys taking the piss?” Looking around, not seeing any humour or amusement on any of the men’s faces, Y/n’s narrowed eyes relaxed along with her body in the chair she was aggressively tied to. “Wow.” She breathed out, still not appearing to be bothered by the way this was escalating. “And to think I thought we were becoming fr-.” The video soon cut off and went to just a black screen signaling the end of the video.
The unit stood there in silence for what felt like a good five minutes trying to process what they had just watched. Voight's face seemed stoic as always, whilst Adam and Kevin were arguing which was the funniest part - which had to be a first in ransom video history.
“Mouse, I want you to analyse every second of the video. See if there are any clues to where they are keeping her.” Voight pointed at the man that nodded in obedience, before the sergeant moved to look at the rest of his subordinates. “The rest of you, keep working. I don’t want anyone leaving until we’ve located her. Okay?” Everyone nodded.
Voight disappeared back in to his office, as the rest of them returned to their desks aware that as amusing as the video had been, one of their own was still out there somewhere in imminent danger.
“I bet 20 bucks she gets shot before the 24 hours is up.” Adam spoke up after a good ten minutes of silence. His eyes pin balling around the room to see Kevin, Kim and Jay sat in silence watching him with incredulous eyes.
“Bro.” Kevin scolded.
“It’s what we are all thinking!” Adam argued, but everyone had busied themselves again. Leaving the grown man to grumble as he fell back into his chair.

Pregnant
Summary: When Y/N doesn’t get her period, she goes to Hailey for help. They find out that she is pregnant with Marcel’s baby. Now they have to find a way to tell Y/N’s brothers.
Word count: 2870
Warnings: mentions of period blood and abortion, swear words
----
It was six am and Y/N woke up form the feeling of cramps in her lower abdomen. She turned around in her bed, trying to ease the pain. The pain only got worse and a wave of nausea hit the girl, reminding her that is was that time of the month again. She got out of bed slowly and let out a soft groan. Y/N walked out of her room towards the bathroom at the end of the hall. She expected to see a red puddle in her underwear but she was shocked to see that it was still clean.
The girl sighed and ran her hands through her hair. She was supposed to be on the 6th day of her period today; she was a week late. It wasn’t unusual for the youngest Halstead to be a couple of days late but she had never been this late. She had expected her period to arrive today, especially with the pain she was feeling in her lower abdomen, so seeing that she was still not bleeding made her nervous. She was still seeing Marcel, even though her brothers had told her not to. She really liked this boy. But not being on her period made her think about the worst thing that could ever happen to her.
She decided to wait a little longer for her period to arrive and walked to the kitchen to get herself some breakfast. It was still a little early but she knew that she wasn’t going to get any more sleep anyway. The girl grabbed a bowl and put some cereal in it, along with some milk. She grabbed a glass of orange juice too and made her way over to the couch where she sat down to eat her breakfast while watching Grey’s Anatomy. Y/N was only halfway through her bowl of cereal when she felt another wave of nausea hit her. This time it felt different and the girl knew something was not right. She put down the bowl and ran towards the bathroom where she emptied her stomach.
‘No, no, no, no. This can’t be happening!’ she thought as another wave hit her and she threw up again. She sat there for a minute, wanting to be a hundred percent sure that her stomach was empty, before flushing the toilet. She didn’t have the time to wash her mouth because there was already a knock at the door.
‘Is everything okay in there?’ It was Will. He was the last person Y/N would want to talk to at this moment. He would doctor her every time that she didn’t feel well. It was really sweet of him and Y/N never minded him doctoring her but this was the last moment she would want to be doctored at.
‘I’m fine,’ the girl answered and turned on the sink to wash her mouth and splash some cold water in her face.
‘You don’t sound fine to me,’ her brother said as a matter-of-factly. ‘Can I come in?’
The girl sighed and gave her brother permission to enter the bathroom. As soon as he walked in he closed the lid on the toilet and made her sit while putting his hand on her head. ‘Your temperature doesn’t feel so high,’ he stated. ‘Are you just nauseous or do you have a headache too?’
Y/N sighed and looked at her brother’s worried face. ‘Will, I’m fine. It’s probably just a fever.’ She said with little conviction.
‘I want to take your temperature anyway,’ the redhead said as he grabbed a thermometer and put it under his sister’s tongue. ‘Is there anything I can do for you right now?’
The youngest Halstead thought for a moment before answering; ‘can you call Hailey for me? I want to talk to her.’
Will furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his sister questioningly. ‘What do you need Hailey for?’
The girl shrugged. ‘I just want to talk to her. It’s a girl’s thing.’ She lied. Will looked even more puzzled than he did before but decided to not ask anymore questions. He knew that his sister was not comfortable with talking about girl problems with any of her brothers. The eldest Halstead walked out of the bathroom to get his phone and when he returned, the thermometer beeped, indicating that Y/N’s temperature was taken. He checked her temperature first before giving her his phone. ‘
‘A 100, it’s not a fever yet, but I do want to keep an eye on you.’ He said as he gave Y/N his phone.
‘Ok, Will,’ she said quicky as she searched for Hailey’s contact. ‘Can you give me some privacy please?’ Will nodded and without asking any further questions, he left the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
The phone rang three times before Hailey answered. ‘Will? Why are you calling me so early, it’s six thirty.’
‘it’s not Will, it’s me.’ Y/N’s voice sounded more insecure than she wanted to, raising Hailey’s awareness.
‘Oh, hi, sweetie. What’s wrong?’ Hailey’s voice was already filled with concern, something Y/N appreciated about her. Hailey took care of Y/N as if she were her own sister.
‘Hailey..’ the girl breathed in deeply, thinking of a way to tell her her suspicions. ‘My period is a week late and I’m feeling nauseous and I just threw up. I’m scared and I don’t want to tell Will.’ Her breath hitched halfway through her sentence, making the girl realise how scared she actually was.
Y/N could hear Hailey talking to someone on the other side of the phone and then she could faintly hear her walking away, indicating that she was already, or still, at work. ‘Y/N, are you telling me what I think you’re telling me?’
The youngest Halstead nodded and realised that Hailey couldn’t see it. She tried to talk to her but she couldn’t find the words, tears running down her cheeks instead.
‘Y/N?’ asked a even more concerned Hailey. ‘Are you there?’
The girl sobbed and breathed out a shaky ‘yes’.
The other end of the line got quiet for a couple of seconds, making Y/N wonder if Hailey was going to be mad at her. She knew her brothers were going to kill her and she could handle that but she could never handle an angry Hailey. She was the only one she actually felt like talking to about girl problems. After a moment, the woman’s voice sounded through the phone again. ‘Who’s is it?’ she asked.
Y/N sobbed again, feeling ashamed that she even had to tell this. It was embarrassing. ‘It’s Marcel’s.’
‘Wait, the Marcel?’ asked Hailey. ‘The one your brother’s told you not to see anymore?’
The girl felt even more scared now, making more tears run down her cheeks. ‘Yea, that Marcel.’ She could hear a sigh coming from the other end of the phone.
‘You know I can’t talk you out of this, right?’ The detective ran a hand over her face thinking about how she was going to help her fiancé’s sister. ‘Have you taken a test yet?’
‘No,’ answered Y/N with a shaky breath.
‘Okay, my shift ends in two hours. I will pick one up from the pharmacy and then I will help you out, okay? Promise me you won’t tell anything to Will yet. I won’t tell Jay either until we know for sure, alright?’
The young girl agreed and shakily hung up the phone. She couldn’t even imagine how her brothers would react. Frankly, she didn’t even want to know.
-
Two and a half hours later Hailey walked in alongside Jay who tossed his keys on the kitchen counter. ‘I heard my sister was sick,’ he said as he made his way over the girl who was sat on the couch, buried in a warm blanket.
‘Her temperature hasn’t gone up anymore, but she’s still not feeling well,’ Will said as he laid his hand on his sister’s head again to check her temperature.
‘I’m fine you guys,’ the girl said as she looked at Hailey who nudged her head towards the bathroom. ‘I have to use the bathroom.’
Without looking at the two men, she quickly made her way over towards the bathroom where Hailey was already waiting for her. She was holding a pregnancy test in her hand and looked at the young girl with pity in her eyes.
Y/N sighed heavily as she ran her hands through her hair. ‘Alright, let’s get this over with.’
‘Do you know how to take this test?’ asked Hailey as she gave the test to the girl who took it with shaking hands.
‘Yea, you just pee over this stick right? And then it will tell you if you are..’ she swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat ‘pregnant or not.’
‘That’s right,’ Hailey placed her hand on Y/N’s shoulder, squeezing it softly before walking out of the room. ‘I will wait for you outside the door.’
The youngest Halstead nodded and took the test. She had to wait for a couple of minutes before she got the results. She had a gut feeling, however, that she already knew what the test was going to say. She invited her brother’s fiancé back in the bathroom when the test had the results ready.
‘I don’t want to check,’ she said with a shaky breath. ‘I feel like I already know what the result’s going to be.’
Hailey looked at the girl with sympathy and asked if she had to check the results. Y/N nodded and fearfully looked at the woman’s expression when she read the results.
As soon as she met Hailey’s eyes, she burst out in tears. The blonde detective spread her arms, inviting the girl for a hug, which she immediately accepted.
‘I can’t believe it!’ she cried. ‘Jay and Will are going to kill me. They will never let me see another boy ever again, hell, they won’t even let me out of the house ever again.’
‘Let’s not think about that right now,’ she rubbed the girls back as she tried to think of how they were going to handle this. ‘There is one more important thing you should consider right now.’
Y/N let go of her brother’s fiancé and wiped away her tears. ‘And that is?’
Hailey sighed and took a second to answer. ‘You know it’s not a good idea to keep it. But the decision is yours to make. Do you want to keep the baby?’
The youngest Halstead sighed heavily and started crying again. ‘I don’t know!’ she sat down on the toilet and rested her head in her hands. ‘I don’t know, Hailey!’
‘I know it’s a tough decision to make, Y/N, especially at your age. But I guess you can already tell what your brothers are going to say. I want you to make this decision on your own and I want you to know that whatever you decide, I will stand by you.’ She took a hold of Y/N’s hands and squeezed them softly.
‘I guess it’s time to tell them, isn’t it?’ the young girl asked as she looked at the woman in front of her.
‘You have to tell them today, but take as long as you need. I’m here with you.’
‘Thanks, Hails.’ Y/N smiled softly at Hailey, being glad that she could soon call her her sister in law.
-
After about an hour sitting in the bathroom, the two walked towards the living room where Jay and Will were sat on the couch, watching a hockey game.
‘There you are,’ Jay said as he paused the game. ‘You have been in there for over an hour, what happened?’
Hailey stood next to Y/N, squeezing her shoulder ever so slightly in a poor attempt to calm the now anxious girl down again. The girl knew she had to say something but the words didn’t come. Instead she started crying again, surprising herself that she still had tears in left in her body after all that crying she did today.
Both of her brothers got up form the couch and walked over to her, worry plastered on both of their faces. ‘Y/N, what’s going on?’ Will asked cautiously.
‘I-I have to tell you something,’ she said in between sobs as she started fumbling with the sleeves of her sweater.
She didn’t dare to look the two men in the eyes so she kept looking at their feet instead. She noticed Jay crossing his arms over his chest, which never meant anything good. After a long silence, except for Y/N’s sobs, Jay spoke up again. ‘Y/N, tell us what’s going on.’
‘Erm,’ she started.
‘And look at me,’ the detective added in a strict tone that she never dared to disobey.
The girl slowly looked up, meeting her brother’s green and worried eyes. ‘Well, I, erm..’ she wiped away a tear from her cheek before continuing. ‘Do you remember Marcel?’
‘That boy you fucked in our apartment without telling us?’ Will said while crossing his arms too. ‘We remember him damn well.’
‘Well, erm,’ Y/N lowered her gaze at their feet again, feeling the nausea kicking in again.
‘Damn it, Y/N, just tell us!’ Jay started to lose his patience and took a step towards her.
‘Guys,’ Hailey the two men in front of her and Y/N, while putting and arm around her. ‘Give her some time,’
‘Fine, sorry.’ Jay scoffed and waited for his sister to speak.
‘I, erm,’ the girl sobbed again but continued her story, ‘you told me that he wasn’t welcome in here anymore, so we thought that we could still see each other at his place.’
‘You slept with him again?’ Will asked as he took a step forward too.
‘Well, yes, and I erm..’ she looked at Hailey for a second, who nodded to encourage her to keep on talking. ‘I don’t really have a fever, it’s just that..’
‘ARE YOU PREGNANT?!’ shouted Will as he took another step forward and grabbed her arms.
‘Will,’ warned Hailey but she couldn’t be heard because Jay started yelling too.
‘Are you fucking kidding me? Hailey are you supporting her?’ he looked at his fiancé as if she had murdered someone.
‘I am not okay with her being pregnant, Jay, but I am supporting her because this is more difficult for her than you think.’
‘We are going to med right now,’ Will grabbed his keys from the table and grabbed Y/N’s coat before shoving it into her hands. ‘You are going to get this thing removed.’
‘Don’t push her, Will,’ Hailey grabbed the coat from the poor girl’s hands and grabbed Will’s keys from his hands as well. ‘She doesn’t know what she wants yet.’
‘She doesn’t know?’ Jay’s voice sounded so calm it even made Hailey get goosebumps. ‘What do you mean she doesn’t know? She is only sixteen years old. She isn’t capable of raising a child. She is still a child herself.’
‘She knows, Jay,’ Hailey said. ‘But it is a living being inside of her. It’s not only hard for her physically but mentally too. Please, let her think about it.’
‘No, they’re right,’ Y/N said softly, making everyone turn towards her. The girl looked up and looked each and every one of them in the eye. ‘I know what I did and that I shouldn’t have done it. This is my punishment for being so stupid.’ She looked at Jay and sighed. ‘You are right. I am not capable of raising a child. I should get it removed.’
‘Won’t you at least think about this for a week?’ asked Hailey. ‘You should discuss this with Marcel too.’
‘Marcel doesn’t have a say in what happens to our sister,’ Jay interrupted his fiancé.
‘Well, actually he does,’ said Will who was a little more calm than he was before. ‘She should tell him about it. It is his child too.’
‘How about we let Y/N think for a while and let her call him when she comes to a conclusion?’ asked Hailey.
‘I would like that,’ said Y/N softly as she looked up at her future sister in Law who in return smiled at her.
‘Fine,’ Jay scoffed again and turned to his sister. ‘But don’t you think there aren’t any consequences, young lady.
‘I understand,’ nodded Y/N. ‘Do I have to go to my room?’
‘No , you can sit with us. But only for today. You will be grounded though, and we will take your phone and call Marcel’s parents.’ Will said as he made his way over towards the couch.
‘And you will either go to the district or to med when you’re out of school, you understand?’ added Jay quickly.
‘I understand,’ said Y/N. ‘Thank you for letting me think about it.’
‘Of course,’ Jay put a hand on Y/N’s shoulder, ‘even though we’re mad at you, we still want you to feel alright. You’re still our sister and we want what’s best for you.’
Y/n smiled softly and spread her arms to hug her brother, who gladly accepted. ‘Thank, you Jay. I love you.’
He placed a kiss on her head ‘I love you too, munchkin.’

Tradition
Halstead!sister reader x Halstead bros
synopsis: Cooking with your brothers doesn't turn out well.
Tumblr media
Jay had never been the best cook in the world, but he did his best. When you moved in with him he would make your lunch, PB&J's or leftover Pizza. Will would always jokingly tell Jay the two of you would get scurvy. He had all but ordered the two of you to clear your Sunday night so that he could come over and all of you could cook together. It was something your mother used to do, make Jay and Will cook with her on Sundays. After she passed, the tradition ended until today.
Will walked into Jay's apartment with two grocery bags and the biggest smug grin, "Ready for the best home cooked meal ever?"
Jay looked sceptical, "Not if you're the one cooking."
"Ha. Ha." Will retorted, pushing Jay out of the way playfully.
You laughed and pushed yourself up to sit on the counter, watching Jay and Will unload the grocery bags. Will put a box of pasta on the counter next to you as he continued to organize the other ingredients. You picked up the box, turning it over.
"Lasagne?"
Will hummed, "Good hearty food."
You nodded, "Only if you make it right. Last time you made pasta it was goop."
"That was one time," Will argued.
Jay frowned, "More like a couple times."
You and Jay laughed, watching Will act fake hurt by your bantering. The three of you got to work cooking, Jay was being his usual self and trying to boss Will around.
"What is this?" Will joked, "Hell's kitchen? I know how to cook."
"Yeah," Jay held his hands up at Will, "Says the one waving a knife around. Maybe you should leave the kitchen before you hurt someone."
Will scoffed, "I'm a doctor if I hurt anyone I'll fix them."
"Of course, Dr Halstead, we should have known." You joked, standing by the stove and watching over the Roux.
Will rolled his eyes, "Okay, okay."
You eventually got bored of stirring the cheese sauce, walking over to look at what Jay was doing. He was chopping up vegetables, they were wonky and poorly cut. Immediately you started teasing him about his terrible knife skills. The three of you finally put together the entire dish, topping it with cheese and sticking it in the oven. Jay and Will put you in charge of getting it out of the oven when it was ready. You all sat together and watched the game, you were not at all interested but you sat and watched anyway. After a while you got the nagging feeling you had forgotten something.
It wasn't until the smoke alarm started blaring that you realized what you forgot.
"Oh no," You mumbled to yourself, rushing towards the kitchen with Jay and Will following.
You opened the oven door to reveal the burnt lasagne, smoke starting to fill the room.
"Well," Jay said as Will turned off the oven and turned on the extractor fan, "At least we know the fire alarm's work."
You frowned, "I'm sorry, I forgot about it."
Will ruffled your hair, "It's cool, we could scrape the burnt bit off?" He tried to reason.
The three of you stared at the burnt dish.
"Or," Jay said, "We could order Pizza?"
Will tried to take off the burnt top layer with a knife, revealing the burnt pasta underneath. "Yeah, Pizza sounds good."

I Miss You, I'm Sorry (Part 2)
Tumblr media
I’ve officially been in Chicago for a week. I still haven’t been to the district as I have been spending this first week back getting organized and settled in a new apartment-again. I feel good about everything again.
It’s a Friday night, so there’s no better way to then celebrate a good unboxing and move at the one and only, Molly’s.
Sitting at Molly’s being welcomed back by Hermann, he’s already told me that all my drinks are on the house.
“So, you ready to kick ass in Chicago again?” Hermann asks. I sip my beer.
“Come on Hermann, you know I am! D.C. was nice and all, but I’m not meant to sit behind a desk and fill out paperwork.” I tell him, smiling and taking another swig of my beer.
“You ready to see everyone?”
All I do is nod my head, showing a genuine smile.
“Well, well, well! Look what the cat dragged in! Only the best Intelligence Unit in Chicago!” Hermann greeted Antonio, Kim, Adam, Alvin, Voight, and Kevin. The only two missing were Erin and Jay. I could feel my heart sink. I guess that’s what I not only get but deserve too.
Everyone was shocked once they saw me. I was instantly greeted with hugs, a few squeals from Kim, kisses on my head and cheeks, and all smiles. I didn’t let my sadness show once I realized Jay was probably with Erin-it was expected and I was told that they would be each other’s new partner. Too, everyone loves Jay, he’s just that guy, THE guy.
“Alright, hey!” Hermann got our attention. “First round is on me for you guys, as a Welcome Back, Welcome Home (Y/N) but then, you’ll have to pay up! (Y/N) is covered for the night…understood?” Hermann tells us.
We all understood, starting our night out.
I walk over to Kim, Antonio, and Adam, pulling Kim aside.
“Hey, have you heard from Jay? Or Erin?” I ask her.
“Uh, Adam heard from him a few minutes ago. He said he’d be in a few minutes.” Kim reassured me. She could tell I was letting my emotions get the best of me. I missed Jay.
Minutes go by and everyone turns towards the door. There he is. Jay Halstead. I just look at him, taking everything in, emotions high. Erin is following close behind him, looks like they are finishing up a story; maybe about a case they recently closed or their upcoming schedules or plans.
I’m sitting on the inside of the table. Kim sitting next to me, Adam and Antonio sitting across from us. He doesn’t notice me, but I see him kiss the top of Erin’s head as she makes her way to our table and Jay heads to the bar. That was all it took. My heart shattered.
“Oh my gosh! (Y/N)! Hi! What are you doing back here?!” Erin asks me, hugging me.
I hug her back, “I am back in town! For good. I start with Intelligence again on Monday!” I tell her, smiling.
I see a tall, dark, handsome boy, heading for our table. Two beers in hand. It takes him a minute to notice but, he does. He’s shocked. I know him well enough, like the back of my hand, to know that his emotions are running at 100 miles/minute. The love, the hurt, the laughs, memories, heartbreak. All of it.
“(Y/N) …” is all he can manage to say to me.
“Hi Jay…” was all I could manage to get out, finishing the last sip of my beer.
Intelligence could tell there was some catching up to do so, they left us alone at the table. Erin squeezed Jay’s shoulder, walking away with the rest of the group.
“How…how have you been? How was D.C.?” He asked me.
It takes me a second to gather my thoughts because even though D.C. was good to me, I thought of Chicago and my people the entire time.
“D.C. treated me good, well. I missed Chicago and all of you guys the entire time though.” I told him, honestly, looking up at him.
“What brought you back home?”
“I told you. I missed all of you and Chicago. Besides, I think I’ve busted my ass enough to do more than just sit at a desk, filling out paperwork.” I tell him, showing a small smile. “Enough of me…how are you” I ask him.
He takes a sip of his beer, not breaking eye contact. “You know how I am. I’m always good. Keeping my head down in work, kicking it here at Molly’s, sports.” He tells me.
“And how is everything with Erin?”
“What do you mean? We’ve been partners.” He looks at me, confused.
“Oh, come on…I saw her squeeze your shoulder when she walked away AND when you guys walked in, before you went to the bar, you kissed her on the head. Partners don’t do that; boyfriend and girlfriends do that. You’re not as slick as you think you are anymore.” I tell him, taking another sip of my beer, preparing for my heart to shatter even more.
He coughs, clearing his throat, not knowing I saw what I saw earlier.
“Uhm, yeah. We’ve been together for a couple of months now. Three, almost four.”
I could tell that that was hard from him to tell me. I could tell that he didn’t want to tell me. He didn’t want to hurt me. It did hurt but, I deserve it. I left him, the both of us heartbroken.
I slowly nod my head. Thinking. I take another sip of my beer and push it away.
“Good, good! I’m glad you’re happy and doing well.” I tell him, faking a smile. “Well, on that note, I think I’m going to call it a night.” I tell him, slowly getting up from the small table.
“(Y/N) … Jay calls after me.
I smile, walking away, walking to the group.
“Alright you guys, I’m headed out, calling it a night.” I tell everyone, getting hugs from everyone. “I’ll see you boys and girls on Monday morning.” I tell him, smiling, and hitting Antonio’s shoulder as I make my way past them.
I can feel the tears threatening to spill. I turn back around once more, at him. He’s looking at me. I nod my head and walk out the door, into the cold Chicago air, a tear sliding down my cheek.
It’s not long before I hear Molly’s door swing open, letting the music blast outside for a second or so. I don’t turn around, but I notice the voice.
“Why did you really come back to Chicago? Why?”
Jay.
I gulp before turning around.
“I told you already…”
“That might be true, and I do believe you but, what’s the real reason (Y/N)?”
I feel a few tears slip. I quickly wipe them away.
“I wanted my life back. I wanted to work with the people that mean the absolute most to me. Chicago is where I made myself, it’s where I grew up. It’s where I met you. It’s where I fell in utterly, complete love with you. It’s where you are.” I get out, not holding anything back.
Before he can say anything else, I finish my thoughts, my truth.
“I’m still in utter, complete love with you. I never wanted to leave you. I hate that I left you the way that I did. Quick, short notice.”
The more I ramble on, the more I feel more tears threatening to spill. Jay doesn’t say anything, yet. I just suddenly feel his embrace, his warmth.
“I miss you, I’m sorry.” The last thing I say before I hug him back, letting the tears fall. Catching my breath.

Manifesting Jay being alive off screen that way when the show is eventually cancelled and Hailey is still there, they can maybe bring him back for the series finale because the best ending would be Trudy or someone saying they have a visitor and we watch Hailey smile as she looks towards the bullpen stairs because there’s her husband, standing handsome and tall and proud and ALIVE.
That is the only ending I will accept.

Watching - Jesse Lee Soffer
Tumblr media
You sat down on the couch next to Jesse. Today there would be another episode of Chicago P.D. on TV, and you had to watch it. Normally you watched it alone because Jesse usually wasn't home. On the other hand, they wrapped on time today, and he was home early.
"What are we watching?" Jesse asked as he laid his arm on your shoulders.
"You'll see," you smirked as you put on the right channel. A recap of the last episode has already started.
Jesse groaned next to you. "Are you serious?"
You looked at him with a big smile.
"You are serious," he answered for you.
"Yep. I always watch it, and I'm not going to change that now. They left me on a cliffhanger last time!"
Jesse rolled his eyes, trying to get up from the couch, but you didn't let that happen.
"Come on, watch it with me. Don't you ever wonder what the final product looks like?"
"Sometimes. But if you want me to watch it, we'll watch it."
"Yes!" You quickly kissed him on the cheek before getting cosy against him.
"You know, you should steal some clothes from the set. You look amazing in those shirts," you said, looking at your boyfriend on the screen, who was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt with a few open buttons. It was one of your favourite outfits of Jay.
"You think?"
"Yes. And also steal some blouses and those denim jackets you sometimes wear."
Jesse frowned at you. Never had you said anything about the clothes of Jay. "You like those?"
"Oh yeah. You look hot as hell." You looked up at Jesse.
"I think I have to steal some clothes."
You laughed. "It's just different from what you normally wear, besides the t-shirts. The bomber jackets look amazing as well."
Jesse chuckled. "Maybe I should come home in the uniform."
"That blue suits you."
"Wait, I bet you have that as your background on your phone," he laughed before grabbing your phone off the table. Your lock screen was a picture of the two of you, but your home screen was a picture of Jay wearing a brown blouse.
"No, you didn't," he laughed at the photo.
"What, you look hot. I don't care that it's Jay."
"Hot, huh?"
"Yes."
Jesse opened your camera roll, which revealed even more photos of Jay. "I think you are my biggest fan," he laughed as he put the phone away.
"Always, even if you would've looked horrible."
Jesse leaned in to kiss you.
"The flannels are hot as well," you said in between the kiss.
Jesse only grinned before kissing you again. "Now, I definitely have to come home in one of those outfits."

Main Masterlist
The Runaway
(the beginning.)
“Hey, didn’t expect you here.” You spoke softly as you entered the kitchen, placing your clutch down on the island. Dorian was seated with some coffee and his breakfast. You’d just got in from an overnight with one of Kevin’s clients. You smelled of cigars and sex, unpleasant sex. You sighed. “Yeah, your husband asked me to come over..you look a little young to be married to Kevin?”
Tumblr media
You chuckled. “Maybe I like my men older.”
Tumblr media
“Even you can’t say that with a straight face. What is the deal between you two?” You took off your jacket, placing your jacket up on the coat rack. “You ask a lot of questions, Dorian.” He shrugged. “I’m just curious. The other day, the way he treated you wasn’t okay. No man should treat their wife like that.”
You shook your head. “You aren’t married, you wouldn’t understand.”
“Mm, I’ve had my fair share of marriage in the past. I understand the ups and downs of it, but I’ve never treated my wife the way I’ve witnessed Kevin treat you.” You sighed, shaking your head, turning on your heels to leave. “I’m going to shower.”
Truth was, although you didn’t know love and have never felt it. You knew that Dorian was right. But at the same time, there was nothing you could do about it. “Alright. I’m sorry if I offended you.”
You shook your head. “You didn’t offend me at all. What you’re saying is true. But it’s my life Dorian. You see how he is. There’s nothing that can be done, now if you’ll excuse me.”
You exited the room.
“You need to get her talking. Find out where the girls are being hidden, find out about Kevin.” His handler said into his invisible ear piece. Dorian (Jay) clicked his teeth. “I got this.” Finishing the eggs that was on his plate, he stood up wracking the remaining food in the trash, placing the dish in the dishwasher. He made his way down the hallway, to peep around and hide some bugs.
“Um, what’re you doing in here?” You ask him as you walk out the bathroom, naked and drying your hair with the white towel.
He stammered over his words, as his eyes met with your body. “My eyes are up here.” She snaps her fingers. “What’re you doing in my room, Dorian?”
“Im sorry. I didn’t know this was your room, I was coming in here to look for some paper and a pen, your husband’s office was locked.. you don’t share a room with Kevin?” He changes the subject. She looked at him grabbing the underwear that was laid out on the bed placing them on, her breast swung as she moves around. “Um, you mind covering?”
She laughs. “What? You don’t like the show?”
It wasn’t that he didn’t. He did. You were a beautiful woman to him but, he felt like this was.. wrong. Not to mention, you were covered in scars, bruises and some bite marks that were months or years old and it made him angry. He didn’t know why but it did. You had a small abrasion on her neck from when a John shoved you and you fell on the ground a few nights ago. “No, it’s not that.. just don’t think I should be seeing you like this.”
She chuckled. “Pretty much all of my husband’s entourage has seen me naked, more ways then one. I’m sure sooner or later, you will too.”
“What do you mean?” you sigh, grabbing a tank top out the drawer leaning against the dresser, your natural curls lying on your shoulders. “Doesn’t matter. I’ll open my husbands office and get the items you need.” Dorian sat on the bed. “That’s irrelevant right now, what happened there?” He pointed to the bite mark on your shoulder bone. “My husband likes to bite during sex. It’s nothing.”
Dorian laugh. “What he some kind of carnivore or something?”
You laugh and smile, shaking your head. “.. he’s something.” You smiled. “You mind leaving my room now?” He nods standing up, he slightly bowed his head, walking out the room. She walked behind him, she smiled, before closing the door and locking it. He let out a sharp exhale as he leaned against the door. He was almost.. caught.
“My husband won’t be flying in tonight, he says you’re more than welcome to stay in the guest house out back and his sister will be accompanying us so you won’t become handsy.” You said walking into the room.
Dorian (Jay) looked over at you. “Oh no, it’s all right. I’ll be okay going home. But, you going to be all right here? It’s supposed to be a big thunder storm tonight.” You smile. “It’s okay. I’m a big girl.” Dorian stood to his feet to leave, when you grabbed his hand. “Hey, wait, where are you going?” He looked down at you as he towered over you. “Home.” You slightly tap his chest. “No need for that. I’m making dinner. Stuffed Chicken breast, asparagus and mashed potatoes. So, stay for dinner and then you can leave.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Hey, it’s the least I can do for you helping me the other night.”
“It wasn’t your fault you spilled that drink, Y/n. Speaking of, how’s your foot?”
You lean on your tippy toes. “It’s good, still sore but, I’m good.” You swayed away from him, starting on dinner. “Can I uh.. can I help?” You turned around only to be met with him, close. Body to body. Your hand touching his chest. “Oh uh.. no, but you can set the table for three- well four.”
“Who's the fourth?”
You didn’t answer. “You never answered my question, you know. I asked why you and Kevin weren’t sharing a room?” Dorian grabbed his second phone from inside his jacket. Texting Hailey that he wouldn’t be home tonight. She was responding but then left him on read. He just shoved his phone back in his pocket, knowing he disappointed her, yet again. But he figured she was out all night with Voight- like always.
“Kevin likes his space sometimes. So do I.” You answered not going into detail.
He nods. “Understandable, but separate bedrooms?” You walk over pouring yourself a tall glass of white wine. “Why are you so interested in my marriage? If you tryna fuck me just say that, it’ll cost you but, we can go in the bedroom right now.” You shrugged. Dorian frowned. “Huh?”
“I mean, come on.. I see the way you look at me. And almost all of my husband’s people have done with they want with me.. but for some reason, you’re the only one my husband hasn’t had me sleep with so, I’ll take my chances this time. I could use the cash.” Truth was, you were still trying to leave Kevin. You had been saving up all the extra money where and there for jons hoping that you could find some way to leave him without being harmed in the process.
Dorian laughs. “I don’t want to sleep with you, Y/n.” You furrowed your brows. “What do you mean? You don’t find me appealing?”
“It’s not that, I just- I’m not one of those men.”
You smiled. “Good to know. But all men are the same and all men want the same.” You shrugged, when the door opened and in came in Tonya, her red curls bounced. “What’s going on in here?” She looked at the two who were just inches away from each other talking as the food cooked. “Just talking.” Dorian smiled down at you then over at Tonya.
“About?”
Your smile faded. You knew Tonya deeply cared about you, she was the one who helped you escape her brother several times but, it wasn’t exactly easy. “Just dinner and I wanted to know his role.”
“Now you know my brother doesn’t allow his men to discuss business with you. Doesn’t matter how good you are in bed, they aren’t that stupid.” Tonya shook her head running her tongue over her rosy pink lips. “I’m aware of that, Tonya. Was that even necessary?” Tonya folded her arms. “Yes. Stop asking questions, I don’t want to see you hurt like last time. Ok?” Dorian raised an eyebrow. “I wouldn’t allow that.”
Tonya laughs. “You’re sweet but, stay out of this one and keep your hands to yourself. Okay, pretty boy?”
“Okay.” Dorian stepped back from you.
Tumblr media
You shook your head at Tonya. “We were just talking.”
“And what happened to the last man you were ‘just talking’ to? Hmm?” You sighed and nodded your head, going back to cooking. You felt yourself becoming upset so you walked away, going to your room. “Tonya, man, what’s with the hostility? She and I were just talking, getting to know each other. After all, I’m in and out of her home.” Tonya stirred the mashed potatoes, looking over at Dorian. “Dorian, I actually like you. For some odd reason, I do. My brother is no saint. And he may not treat her right at all but he’s obsessed with her and very possessive when it comes to her. I just don’t want her hurt or you killed for any little thing that could be construed and taken out of context.”
Dorian shook his head. “He’s not here. She and I can be friends, Tonya. I don’t want to sleep with her.”
“We have company tonight. My brother got a new girl and he wants your opinion.” Dorian raised an eyebrow. “My opinion? Why mine? I’m just a weapons guy.” She shrugged. “I don’t know, all I know is.. he wants you to take the girl for a test run.” Dorian shook his head. “I’m not sleeping with some random woman.”
Tonya folds her arms. “You are, and it’s not a option. It’s an order.”

-As Halstead-
Jay sighed heavily walking out of the home, his eyes locked with Yours as you watched him leave from the upstairs window, he buttoned up his shirt and shook his head. He didn’t sleep with the girl but made her pretend that he did. He couldn’t find himself wanting to do this job any more, the way things were done. This wasn’t what he was supposed to be doing. You smiled a tight-lipped smile as you looked down at you, tapping your hand slightly on the window.
He waved slightly.
Jay liked you. You had this innocence about you. You had this aroma that made him desire you. You were sweet, scared and damaged. You were broken, but you still managed to smile through the constant pain inflicted on you. He could hear Tonya yelling for her through the cracked window. He nodded at you, walking off getting in his undercover vehicle, driving to the hotel he was staying at during his undercover op. He sat in the garage parking lot for a minute just thinking about the op, you. And all what this entailed.
“Hello?”
He looked at the screen as Hailey answered, she was seated on their couch, propped up with a glass of wine in her hand. “Hailey..”
“Hey, Jay.”
He smiled. “What’re you doing?” She rubbed her eyes. “Just going over a case.” He nods, rubbing his shoulders. “You seem tired. I miss you.” Hailey was dry, to say the least but yet that’s how their relationship has been for months. He hated it. She changed. He didn’t like it but he put up with it because he loved her. “I am tired, Jay. Can we actually talk about this some other time? I’m just.. this case is important.”
“Hailey, you realize every time we talk you always rushing to get off the phone?!”
Hailey rubbed her forehead. “Jay, I don’t have time to argue with you. I’m busy just like you’re busy. If you would actually come home, you’d see that.” Jay clenched his jawline. “Hailey. You know I can’t just come home. I’m undercover. This is major for me. This man is a major player in the human trafficking and smuggling industry. I have to be smart about this. I could put you in danger if I were to come home. He has people watching me.”
“I-It’s fine Jay. I get it.” She fanned her hand.
He sighed deeply when their was a knock at his hotel room door. “I gotta go, Hailey. I love you.”
“Love you too, Halstead.”
He shook his head hanging up the FaceTime, hiding the phone. He grabbed his gun out the nightstand, making his way towards the door. Only two people knew this was his hotel. Tonya, and his handler. He swung the door open with the gun pointed. “Y/n.”
“Hi..” You pushed your way inside.
He closed the door behind him walking over and sticking the gun back where it was. “Y/n, what’re you doing here? How’d you even find out this is where I stay?”
Tumblr media
“Overheard you telling Tonya. How was things with Miss.Sinclair?” You mouth off, sitting herself on the edge of his bed, crossing her leg over the other. “I don’t think that’s your business.. I should only be telling your husband that- why are you here?” you didn’t answer, she rubbed her hand over the bed, then glanced over at him. “You answer my question and I’ll answer yours.”
He shrugged. “It was alright.” You chuckled. “So, she wasn’t good?” He rubbed the back of his neck. “She was but, it just wasn’t me. I don’t like being pressured into doing something.” you fiddled with your coat’s strap. “Okay, well is she gonna be good for business?” He frowned. “I thought you didn’t handle your husband’s affairs?”
“The women, I do. I mean, it’s not like I want to. I have no choice. My husband puts me over them. He makes sure I find out if the men are satisfied, give the girls a few pointers in the bedroom and when it comes to hygiene, properly taking care of themselves.. I don’t pimp them out, I just ask the questions or join them.” you shrug. “You're saying that as if it's no big deal when it is.”
You shrugged. “Dorian. This is my life, okay? Kevin took me from the streets when I was just a baby. This is all I am and all I know. So spare me the guilt trips or the judgements.”
He walked closer to her. “What do you mean?”
“I got what I came for. I’ll be leaving now.” You made your way towards the door when he grabbed your hand. “Answer me.” You looked down at his hand linked in yours, then up at him. You’d had men be sweet and kind to you before, you’ve even had some obsessed with you. Promising to help you escape Kevin but what would it be like outside of him? And why was Dorian the one man you were feeling something you never felt before.. about. “No.” With that, you walked out. He rubbed the back of his neck, rushing over to his computer. He grabbed his phone dialing his handler.
He uploaded a photo he snuck of you sending it to his handler. “I just sent you a photo, run me everything you can on her.”

Will Halstead deserved to come home in season 4 to someone that would love and support him through all of his trauma. Not someone that would kick him out of the house his first night back because he bought a gun.
Not that i dont understand why natalie would be hesitant about it but the way will was moved to phoenix for months. from what he said, not able to talk to many people so he was pretty isolated and you can almost 100% bet that all that he could think about for at LEAST the first few weeks was his friend getting killed right in front of him.
he knows that friend’s brother blames him and wants vengeance for it so when he gets back to chicago theres only so much safety he can give himself while looking over his shoulder so of course it makes sense that hed want that protection. now i dont think hed ever actually use the gun. its just not in his nature. he isnt the type to shoot someone, hes the type to save the person that just shot at him.
i dont know. i was looking at the season 4 mid season and return for med and thinking. like will went through hell that season. his dad dying, his friends being criminals under watch of the fbi snd being FORCED to work for them to get the dirt. being taken and almost killed by said friend. witness protection. then he comes back, expecting natalie to fully be there for him and she freaks out that he has a gun and later on breaks up with him.
i know she didnt break up with him bc of the gun itself but will wouldnt have felt like he had to lie about getting rid of it if they hadnt been able to just talk it out and her understand why he wanted to have it.
anywho blah blah blah will halstead deserved better, i love him and i could write him a better love interest and i am

PART ONE
HOUR 2 OF 24
“Wait, guys. I’m getting a call, and it’s from Y/n’s number!” Kim immediately stood up, raising her phone in the air to show everyone the contact name flashing on her phone. Jay was soon by her side, desperate to hear Y/n’s voice once again.
“Answer it then!” Adam insisted, grabbing the phone out of the woman’s hand and answering it, to release the growing anxiety from his body from the phone continuing to buzz. Placing it on the desk, the unit gathered around as the call was put on speaker.
“Y-Y/n?” Kim called out, the fear clear in her voice which made her cringe at the sound of. There was rustling on the end of the line, and everyone waited anxiously for something to happen. “Y/n are you there?”
“Wait you want me to read that? Fucking hell which one of you idiots wrote this? I can barely make out what it says, it’s like a child wrote it.” Y/n’s giggles were caught by the microphone of the phone, and everyone seemed to relax at the sound. She still sounded as teasing as every, that was for sure. Jay felt the tightness in his chest release a little, feeling better knowing that she was indeed still alive. Adam’s previous comment about them shooting her had of course been an attempt at humour, but it seemed to strike up something in Jay that he hadn’t been able to disarm for the last 60 mins.
Noticing the Jay’s rigid posture, Kevin placed a hand on his shoulder, offering a comforting smile when he turned to look who it was. Jay nodded his head in appreciation, before turning back to the phone, wishing he could just be standing in front of Y/n instead of staring at a phone screen. Having not had her close in so long, his skin had began to sting as if in withdrawals. It was so painful, and Jay just wished they had a lead.
There was some bustling and commotion on the other end of the line, which mostly sounded like Y/n squabbling about the note that they must have wanted her to relay. In a way it was a blessing as it gave Mouse enough time to set up his computers and devices to start tracing the call.
“I’m just gonna wing it,” Y/n mumbled, clearing her throat in preparation. “Kimmy, you there?”
“Yes!” Kim jumped a little too quickly, instantly regretting it as everyone looked up at her. For an experienced member of the unit, it was very rare to see her act so clumsily. “Y-Yeah, I’m here.”
“Hey girl! Long time no speak, how you doing?” Kim frowned, eyes flicking over to Jay whose eyes were rolling at the laid back conversation his girlfriend was trying to start, despite most likely having a gun or three pointed at her head. Oh how she was going to get the scolding of her life, and then be held close to him at all times for he never wanted to be away from her ever again.
“Uh, not great?” Kim hesitated. Y/n awed down the line, snapping at one of the abductors that clearly was not pleased with her side tracking.
“Okay basically these fellas want you guys to know that tomorrow at 10am, you have to deliver the money to the lake at St James’ park. You know the one I bet Adam to jump in that time when we were drunk? Anyways, one of the guys will be there to collect the money and once they’ve confirmed the amount they’ll let me go. But, you know, of course if you don’t or you play games or whatever then I'll die, blah blah blah.” Y/n yawned, as she trailed off at the end not interested in what she was saying. “Did I miss anything, boys?”
“Y/n-.” Jay went to speak up but before he could finish saying her name, the phone was hung up and the room was left in a painful silence. The frustration rose in Jay as he let out a painful groan that rumbled through his body viciously, walking away from the group and out of the unit. He didn’t want to be around anyone in that moment.
--
HOUR 5 OF 24
“So...” Y/n hummed pouting her lips out as she looking up at the ceiling, admiring the spots where water had damaged the plastering. “How long of you guys been, you know, kidnapping?” Sitting up straight once again, she looked around to see no one in the chatty mood. Only two of the three men were currently in the room, the grumpy older leader guy having left to take a call an hour ago.
There was a long painful silence as neither men planned on answering yet another dumb question shot their way. Both couldn’t comprehend how someone so... Y/n-like could ever be a detective or a police official in general. The urge to shoot her every time she opened her mouth couldn’t be something only they suffered with, they were sure of that.
“I mean he's only young, you look like my little brother,” Y/n gestured to the scrawny young faced man that was unloading and reloading his gun over and over again. “He’s a little shit as well.” She grumbled.
--
HOUR 11 OF 24
“Have you lads ever thought of maybe sprousing this place up a little,” Y/n asked as she leant back in the wooden chair that she’d been bound to for nearly five days now. Her eyes zipped around the dark, cold cellar - or what she assumed was a cellar - that had become her temporary residence. “You know, maybe a ‘Live, Laugh, Love’ sign and some fairy lights would distract your guests from the pissy stench in here.” Looking around, Y/n could see how each syllable out her mouth grated on the souls of the three men that were slumped around the room, their guns still very much pointed in her direction, none of them able to predict her next move.
“Please remind me why we can’t just shoot her?” One of the abductor looked towards the leader with a look of desperation that had come with listening to Y/n’s stories. She’d spared zero details when telling them about quite possibly every person she’d ever come into contact with. It seemed the more she talked the more they got annoyed, and that’s when they started making mistakes. Mistakes that Y/n knew could help her in the long run.
“Because if we kill her, they won’t pay us the money. And if they don’t pay us the money then we might as well just hand ourselves in.” The man grumbled, leaning back to rest his head against the grey wall with a defeated sigh.
“Holy shit,” Y/n suddenly sat up, catching all the men off guard as they took the safety off their weapons and pointed them aimed directly at her head. Y/n’s eyes were wide but not with fear of the imminent death she faced, but something - in her opinion - far more harrowing. “What time is it? What time is it?” Looking around frantically, this was the most panic any of the men had seen the woman in. The bald man looked down at the watch he was wearing.
“Uh, 9:26pm.” He recited.
“Fuck sake,” Y/n grumbled, kicking her legs against those of the metal chair in frustration, as her bottom lip poked out. “I hope you fellas are happy. I am missing The Kardashians for this shit.” All the men frowned, anger running through their veins upon realising they had been played once again. The leader of the pack of criminals kicked the wall behind him before storming off out of the cellar clearly needing a breather from the mind game Y/n had them trapped in. Whistling upon watching his reaction, Y/n turned to look at the two remaining men. “He’s such a Kourtney, right? I knew it as soon as I met him.”
The men rolled their eyes slumping back into their earlier positions, wishing to drown out the sound of Y/n’s voice, which after nearly a week with minimal liquids and constant chatter was hoarse and painful to listen to in moderation.
“Baldy has to be a Kim, there is no denying that great ass,” Winking in the man’s direction, the comparison was not appreciated but was not punished either. “And then obviously babyface is Kylie. Discuss amongst yourself of course, but I know I’m right.”
“We really should have brought some fucking duck tape to shut this bitch up.” The bald man growled.
“I never had you down as the kinky type.” Y/n hummed.
--
HOUR 19 OF 24
“Is that your boyfriend?” Y/n was starting to doze off when the baby faced abductor held up her phone and pointed towards the picture that decorated her background.
She couldn’t help but smile seeing Jay’s face, even if it wasn’t in the flesh. It had been taken maybe a month ago when they were both drunk, Y/n’s hand had been squishing Jay’s cheeks together which looked incredibly adorable enough for Y/n to take about 300 photos of him until she found her favourite. Ever since it had been the first thing she’d see when picking up her phone, knowing it could make her feel 10 times better.
“The one and only.” Y/n confirmed with a slight nod of her head, feeling the exhaustion roll off her body at the mention of the handsome man that she imagined was equally pissed off at her as he was worried. She could picture the look on his face during the ransom video and the phone call, listening to her enjoying her time despite her life being at risk. But angry Jay was definitely in her top 5 favourite moods of her boyfriend. It sounded a little strange, but it was the truth.
“You are right he is hot,” The man hummed, admiring the picture before showing it to his bald counterpart that nodded in agreement. But his face was still cold, as he went back to counting his bullets. “How did you guys get together?”
“Seriously?” The other man asked, looking up to the younger man with an incredulous look. After all the hours they had been begging for the woman to be quiet and this moron was encouraging her to continue? Not to mention there was no need for any of them to know any more about the woman’s life than what she had already given up for free - which was a lot.
“Do we really have anything better to do?” He snapped.
“Don’t pretend like you don’t wanna know too, baldy,” Y/n ignored the protests and began to reminisce. “I joined the unit like... 5 years ago? He was put with me on my first case with the team and you know he was this hot, don’t fuck with me, slightly older type of guy and I... well I don’t have a dad so perfect, you know?” Both men nodded. “So we started hooking up casually, and then like any friends with benefits situation we became overly attached to one another and started hooking up as boyfriend and girlfriend. Romantic, isn’t it?”
The two men looked at one another with wide eyes, but the woman didn’t notice for she was lost in a loving memory. A stable warm smile on her face as she thought about how young they had been and how far they had come.
--
HOUR 21 OF 24
“Knowing we only have a few hours left being with each other, I have a confession to make,” Y/n yawned, eyes closed as her head lulled back in a position that looked painful but was surprisingly comfortable. She could really go for a nap right now, but she refused to leave herself vulnerable. “I don’t really want to go back. I’ve got work on Monday and I can’t be fucked-. I really can’t be bothered. My boss is doing my absolute tits in at the moment.” Y/n groaned, thanking the man that held a glass of water to her lips.
“How come?” Babyface asked, taking a seat on a couple of piled up boxes. His hands abandoning the gun besides him and instead focusing on lighting up a cigarette. Offering it towards Y/n, the kidnapped woman declined.
“The man hates love!” She exclaimed, head looking up against and her eyes wide with passion. “He sees me and my boyfriend look at each other and suddenly we are being lectured about keeping it in our pants. It’s like you get caught shagging in the unit a few times and suddenly you are unprofessional. Crazy, right?” She scoffed, looking at her captor who hummed in agreement.
Y/n wasn’t sure how it had got to this, but for the last couple of hours she had formed a friendship of sorts with one of the men - aka Baby face. It was the other two’s mistake to leave the man alone with her, a guy so young with clearly little to no experience at being the abductor in an abduction. Y/n almost felt sorry for him, wanting to give him pointers on how to come off more... intimidating. But instead chose to tell him more anecdotes about her life which the man seemed to eat up now unlike before.
“You know I have this friend that I think you’d love. I mean she is a cop, but I’ve always been a fan of those enemy to lover tropes.” The man tilted his head, seeming slightly confused as to why she would ever want to set one of the people she cared about with a man that had helped in keeping her hostage. “Kim could do with a bad boy, spice up her life a little you know?”
“You are insane.” Baby face chuckled, and Y/n simply grinned.
“You have no idea.”
--
HOUR 24 OF 24
When the boss came stomping back into the room, Y/n nearly fell straight to the floor. Her body jumping up from where she had been semi-napping, along with the two men that had also been sleeping against the wall. The two men shot to their feet, not wanting to let the man that was twirling his gun around like a toy that they had been relaxing.
“It’s time.” He growled, looking at both of his coworkers with a knowing look. Y/n’s head was a little fuzzy from the lack of sleep and slight food deprivation, so much so that she struggled to work out what was going on. “Terry, you should go meet them at the park.”
“T-Terry, huh?” Y/n smirked, looking at the bald man. “You look like a Terry, Terry.” She confirmed, watching as he rolled his eyes and stood up, and walked over to the man, exchanging his large gun for a smaller hand gun.
“And remember when you have the money text the secret code.”
“I know the plan, Dave.” Suddenly Y/n burst out into laughter, so much so the chair beneath her began shaking.
“Your name is Dave? Stop. Stop it, I’m gonna pee.” She insisted, tears in the corner of her eyes which cleared some of the dirk from her face as they fell down her cheeks. The youngest man that was in the corner had to cover his mouth to stop himself from exposing his entertainment at the woman’s attitude.
“Just go.” And just like that Terry left with laughter following him out. As Y/n began to cool down, she suddenly noticed Dave standing over her, a wicked look in his eyes. “For the mean time, I think we could all do a little break from you,” frowning in confusion, suddenly the butt of the man’s gun came down onto the woman’s head knocking her out cold in seconds. “Ah, silence. Why didn’t we do that days ago?”
--
2.5 HOURS SINCE DROP OFF
“Where the fuck is he?” Y/n had been enjoying the inside of her mind, when the sound of Dave’s voice began to send it crumbling back into reality. Wanting to let out a groan as the throbbing in her head became more apparent, she repressed it wondering what the men were saying whilst they thought she was passed out. “It’s 6pm, he should have texted us by now.”
“Maybe he hasn’t got signal?” Baby face offered, his voice wavering showing his internal fear clearly in his tone. But something told Y/n it wasn’t Terry he was worried about.
“Come on, Billy.” The older man scolded. “He hasn’t texted because clearly they’ve got to him.” Paranoia laced his voice so much so it coaxed Y/n’s eyes opened to watch as the man’s face began scrunching up in thought. His feet slapping against the floor as he paced back and fourth. “You know what that means, right? We gotta get rid of her, now.”
Shit, Y/n thought fidgeting in her seat wanting to rip herself free of all the ropes but knowing she had no such strength when she was health and not held for nearly 5 days, let alone in her current condition.
“Let’s not be too hasty-.” Billy tried to reason with him, his eyes flicking to Y/n His shoulders relaxed ever so slightly upon realising that she wasn’t dead like he had previously thought the last three times he’d checked her pulse.
“Hasty? Hasty?” Dave roared, grabbing the young man by the collar of his shirt. “Do you want to go to prison, kid? ‘Cause that’a where we’ll end up if we stay here and wait for them to come and get us. We gotta get rid of the hostage and get our asses on the next plane out of here.”
“C-Can’t we just let her go?” Billy offered, and it was then that Y/n’s concussed brain put together the obvious clues that the kidnapper was worried... about her? Maybe they were friends after all.
“Of course! Why didn’t I think of that?” Dave let Billy go and threw his arms in the air, as the sarcasm flowed out his mouth. “I mean she only knows our names and our faces. Wow, why didn’t I think of just ‘letting her go’?”
“Aww,” Y/n cooed croakily, grabbing both of the men’s attention. Dave seemed alarmed and frustrated having been thrown back into the game he never thought he’d have to play with their hostage. “You two are like a married couple, it’s so cute.”
“That’s it.” Dave grabbed his gun and came marching up to Y/n’s side, taking off the safety he pressed it to Y/n’s temple. His teeth were clamped together, bared towards the woman who simply smirked up at him with a calm look upon her face. The man seemed to be hoping for a bigger reaction as his face reddened in anger. “What the fuck is wrong with you? I’m going to kill you.”
“Bring. It. On.” Y/n squinted, staring the man straight in the face, silently threatening him to go ahead with his plan. She could feel his hand shaking, with the gun pushing deeper into her temple.
“No!” Billy called out, and suddenly the gun Dave carried was turned and shot out towards the young guy. Y/n watched in silent horror as the bullet split through the air and collided with Billy’s leg, sending him hurdling back into a stack of boxes. The man cries were haunting, echoing around the cellar.
The gun soon returned against Y/n’s head, but her eyes didn’t even glance back at Dave. Her eyes were glazed over in numbness as she watched the man she’d grown to like - all things considered - rolling around on the floor.
“Any last words?” Dave whispered into her ear.
“Nah I’m good,” Y/n shrugged, “Fire away, David.”
Not saying anything else, Y/n shut her eyes and prepared for the impact. She focused on the sound of Billy’s shaky breath and whimpers, and just as she thought the blast was coming there was a sudden crash.
“Chicago PD, put your hands up!” Kevin yelled as him, Kim, Adam and a bunch of other officers came running down the stairs and through the metal door. Their large guns pointed towards Dave and the bleeding Billy whose hands were instantly in the air, bloody from where they’d been pressed against his wound.
“Drop the weapon and put your hands up!” Kevin ordered once more as Dave seemed to be conflicted, with his gun slipping against Y/n’s skin. The woman whose eyes were now open and wide, felt all the adrenaline that she’d been surviving off since she had been taken disappear as her rescuers entered the room. “I won’t warn you again, we will shoot.” And suddenly the weapon was being placed on the floor and Dave slowly raised his hands.
“Y/n!” Kim yelled, rounding the men that tackled Dave to the floor and the other officers going to detain and assist with Billy. Kim crouched down in front of the woman who instantly grinned at the sight of her best friend, whose fingers were fiddling with her restraints.
“Kimmy,” She slurred, eyes blinking slowly as she let her body sway woozily. “I knew you’d find me.” As the tightness around her limps subsided, Y/n’s consciousness began to slip away from the ropes.
“Hey, hey stay awake.” Kim lightly tapped her cheeks, trying to avoid the bruises that looked to be beginning to heal. “Someone call Halstead and an ambulance!” Was the last thing Y/n heard as the light disappeared completely.
“Jay...”
--
Jay’s boots squeaked against the hospital flooring as he ran through the entrance of the ER. His head nearly turned 180 degrees as he searched for someone to ask about the location of his girlfriend. Ever since he’d got called out of the interrogation room with one of the abductors to be told that Y/n was found and had been rushed to hospital, his body felt ten times heavier than usual.
“Jay!” Spotting Adam with blood covering his hands, Jay felt his heart stopped beating, as he froze. Every muscle in his body froze, his eyes hyper focused on the red stains. “Hey-,” Adam noticed his wayward eyes and followed their faze to his hands, and instantly shut down his nightmares. “It’s alright, it’s alright this isn’t her blood. Did you hear me? This isn’t Y/n’s blood, it’s one of the abductors.”
Jay’s hands instantly went to his hair, running through the dark strands that were damp from the rain during his run from where he’d parked to the hospital. Taking a deep breath, he was reunited with the beating of his heart as he followed Adam through the halls in the direction of his girlfriend’s room.
“Is she... okay?” The man asked quietly, looking over at his close friend. His eyes lit up with fears, as he wiped away the sweat from his forehead and wiped it on his trousers. Adam hesitated, humming in agreement.
“Okay as she usually is. The doctors recon she’s in shock, but I’ve been telling them that’s just who she is.” Adam snorted, wrapping his arm around Jay’s shoulders in a comforting hug of sorts. Jay let out a small smile at the thought of Y/n chatting like she loved to do, but then remembered how she ended up in the hospital and what he had seen during the ransom video yesterday.
Just as he was about to say something, the two of them heard a chorus of laughter from a room they were approaching. One of the main contributors being a sound that they’d grown to love. Looking towards Adam, the man seemed to be equally confused as it was definitely not the room he’d visited Y/n in earlier. Both men sped up and pushed the slightly closed door open wider.
“... I saw myself in the reflection of that camera and I said ‘If I look that fat, just shoot me already’!” Y/n joked, as she leant back in the wheelchair with bandages wrapped around her head, along with both her wrists and ankles. However instead of being sat at the side of her own bed, instead she was by the side of the shot kidnapper, surrounded by the officers that were suppose to be guarding the room but were instead laughing at Y/n’s anecdote.
“What th- What are you doing in here?” Jay fumed, taking a step forward away from Adam and into the room to expose everyone to his presence. The man that was laying down, cuffed to the hospital bed, jumped in surprise, whilst the officers had a look of guilt on their face. Y/n didn’t seem bothered at all though, throwing her arms up in the air in excitement at the sight of her boyfriend but cursing when feeling the pain shoot around her body.
“Baby!” She cheered, smiling innocently noting the crossed arms and grumpy look on Jay’s face as he had his eyes focused on her. The tension was suffocating, an environment that Y/n didn’t exactly thrive in.
“Wow, you were right,” Billy glanced over to Y/n. “He is even hotter in person.” Jay grumbled incoherently at the comment, eyes narrowing at the man that she was half tempted to shoot in his other leg for being a contributing factor in the injuries his girlfriend was sporting and the separation they’d been forced to experience due to him taking her away from him.
“Baby,” Y/n hummed, putting extra effort into fluttering her eyelashes in hopes of tricking him into not being mad at her. “This is Billy, Billy meet Jay. Billy and I became friends after he stopped pointing his gun at me every time I breathed.” Y/n smiled, patting Billy’s hand. And suddenly Jay couldn’t take it anymore, rounding the bed, his hands gripped the handles of Y/n’s wheelchair.
“If you guys let her a metre within this room again you can say goodbye to your badges.” Jay growled, not sparing Billy another look as he pushed Y/n out of the room despite her protests. Passing Adam, the man didn’t bother following them, figuring they definitely needed ‘couple time’ to talk about... whatever that was.
“Jay.” She whined, her head lulling back to look up at the grumpy face staring straight ahead with that fiery look in any other circumstances he’d find incredibly hot.
“Don’t ‘Jay’ me.” Even though it was very clear she was about to receive the telling off of her life, Y/n was glad that she got to at least be scolded with him there with her. The feeling of him being in her presence was a pain killer no hospital could ever prescribe. Noticing her gushy eyes sparkling up at him, he had to repress his smile and focus on his overwhelming frustration.
Arriving at her room, Jay assisted Y/n back into bed in silence. Placing a blanket over her legs, he pulled a chair up to the side of her bed but didn’t sit, instead moving to stand at the end of her bed with a frown and narrowed eyes. Opening his mouth, Y/n raised her bandaged hand and stopped him.
“I know what you are going to say-.”
“You do, do you?” Jay scoffed, shaking his head as he moved his eyes to look anywhere else afraid he’d crack if he kept admiring her face like he was. Y/n hummed, letting out a small yawn as she cozied down into the comfort of her bed.
“You say ‘I can’t believe how reckless you have been. Do you know what could have happened to you?’” Her eyebrows knitted together like Jay’s already was. “And then normally it’s something along the lines of ‘You can’t keep running your mouth off at people with guns’. Then we have hot angry sex, we both start feeling bad that I've upset you and you’ve shouted at me and then we have phenomenal make up sex. Was I right?” Raising her eyebrow, the couple stared at each other in silence as it became more apparent that she’d hit the nail on the head. “I rest my case.”
Jay stayed silent for moment.
“I can’t believe how reckless you have been!” Jay yelled, throwing his hands in the air, causing Y/n to laugh at the fact she’d been correct. She watched as Jay walked back and forth, hands pulling at his hair. “You could have been killed? You know that, I know you know that. Why would you- Why would you think sassing dangerous men with guns was the right approach?”
“I wasn’t sassing dangerous men with guns,” she shook her head. “I was sassing Dave, Terry and Billy who happened to have guns, they weren’t going to shoot me.” She insisted, making Jay stand there and stare at her in disbelief at how unbothered she was being.
“You had a gun against your head when the team arrived!”
“Dave’s a pussy, he would never have done it.” She snorted, picking at the grapes sat on her table that Kim had brought for her. Jay wanted to shake some sense into the beautiful woman that he would literally die for.
“He literally shot that Billy guy.” Looking at Y/n for some kind of explanation, the woman just chewed her grape with a thoughtful look on her face.
“Hmm, you got me there.” She agreed, wagging her pointer finger of her non-bandaged hand in the direction of her boyfriend. Grabbing the bowl of grapes, she extended it towards Jay. “Grape?”
“I don’t want a grape, Y/n,” Jay spoke quietly, abandoning his place at the end of the bed and collapsing into the bedside chair. His eyes covered by his hands. “I want my girlfriend to understand that she isn’t invincible and that- that I could have lost her today but she doesn’t seem bothered.”
There was no way to hide away form the guilt anymore. Y/n looked over at way and felt her eyes begin to water as she realised that her attempt at keeping everyone feeling light was hurting the one she loved the most. Carefully, Y/n reached out her hand towards Jay who was slightly too far for her to reach. Just as she went to pull back, Jay must have noticed for he grabbed her hand between both of his.
“I'm sorry.” Her bottom lip trembled, as her eyes watered. Jay quite literally watched as for what felt like the first time in the years he’d known the woman, the what ifs of the situation fell onto her like a ton of bricks. “I’m so sorry, Jay.” Standing up from his seat, Jay released her hand and moved to wrap his arms around Y/n in a firm loving hug.
“I didn’t want to upset you,” He insisted. “I just- I love you so much, Y/n. And I love that you are so funny and charismatic,” Pulling back, Jay’s finger ran down the side of Y/n’s face, smiling as he admired her face up close for the first time in a while. He wondered every day for the last 4 and a bit years how he had ever been so lucky as to know, let alone love, a woman like Y/n. “But sometimes you just need to realise that you aren’t untouchable, you know? And- I don’t want to live in a world without you.”
Leaning into Jay’s touch, Y/n nodded placing her hand over where Jay’s rested now on the side of her face. Closing her eyes, she focused on the warmth emitting from his palm onto her skin. Opening her eyes once again, she glanced up at Jay in the eyes before flicking her gaze down to her lips.
“I love you too, baby.” She whispered, before she moved her hand behind his head and lead her head down until their lips were pressed against his. If she was being honest the moment she’d woken up in hospital, she had forced Kim to go and buy her a pack of gum which she chewed all off in preparation for this very moment.
Pulling away, both of them grinned when Jay leaned back and pecked her lips again and again and again. Y/n began to giggle at the feeling of his lips repeatedly tapping her’s, Jay attempting to make up for all the kisses that he had missed during their unplanned time apart.
“Not to ruin the mood, but I’m kind of missing the angry sex part of this scolding.” Y/n mumbled smirking as Jay started to chuckle, still leant in front of his girlfriend, with now both of Y/n’s hands hooked around the back of the man’s neck.
“Well when you get out of here, I’ll pretend to be pissed again and we can finish this the proper way.” The smirk that the man produced was beautiful, Y/n wished she could take a thousand pictures of it. Nodding repeatedly, the woman felt the excitement make her body buzz. “Now you get some sleep, I’ll be right here.” Returning to his seat, Jay pulled his chair even closer, enough to hold her hand from where he was sat.
Closing her eyes, and leaning deeper into her pillow, Y/n welcomed the backlog of sleep she needed to catch up on. Just before she fully submerged into the pool of unconsciousness, she was reminded of something she needed to tell Jay.
“Oh and just so you know,” Y/n muttered, words breathy with tiredness. “I may or may not have promised Billy that he could come stay with us once he’s out of prison.” Jay’s smile dropped, whilst Y/n gripped his hand tighter. “I love you.”
