Headcannon/idea-thingy I've been dying to share:
So i have this oc, and she is a side. Yes, I said she. She represents Thomas's depression.
What you need to know:
Literally 14 (that's when Thomas's depression was the worst)
Disappeared after he went to therapy
Is feminine because Thomas completely separates himself from his depression, so she has no resemblance to him
Virgil is like an older brother to her
When she comes back she shares Virgil's space
Starts to grow up when she returns because Thomas's depression is bad again
Has orange hair, but her clothes (and colour) is grey
Has heterochromia (but that's the only hetero thing about her)

The Saddest My Chem Song
Chapter 1
Read on ao3 here
TRIGGER WARNINGS: CANCER, HOSPITALS (let me know if there’s anything else I should add)
Let me tell the story of how Eve’s life changed.
Eve had gotten up early that morning, having felt ill through the night. Her skin, pale and sickly, was covered in a thin veil of bronzer and blush to maintain her healthy glow before she left the house for school. On her way down the front steps, she waved to her neighbor, Virgil, who she took the bus with everyday.
"Hey Virge."
"Hey Lena. You look as bad as I feel today, what's up?"
"Oh nothing, I'll be coming down with a bug or something from school, I'll be fine!" She gave him a hug and they linked their hands together as they walked to the bus stop.
Eve had never enjoyed the bus ride to school, but that day it felt less bearable than usual, and being squashed between Virgil and the window was cramped instead of cosy.
School went by in a blur, lessons dragging and smudging together, until it was almost the end of the day. By now, Eve’s head was pounding, her blood felt like gum in her veins, and having had two nosebleeds already, Virgil finally convinced her to go to the school nurse. Standing up to leave the classroom, the treacle blood rushed to her head, and before she could move away from her table, she was crumpling to the floor.
A few hours and scans later, Eve woke up in a hospital bed. Her parents by her side, a strong unit that could outlast anything.
“Evie!” Her mum, Maisy, exclaimed, shuffling towards her daughter and squeezing her hand tightly. “How are you feeling?”
“Foggy...” She tried to lift her arm to rub at her heavy eyes, but it felt like lead. “What happened mum?”
“You passed out at school baby. They had to call an ambulance because you wouldn’t wake up. They took some blood tests and scans to find out what’s wrong, but you’ll get through it because you’re our strong and beautiful baby girl.” She planted a gentle kiss on Eve’s forehead before moving back to her husband.
“The doctors wanted to know when you woke up, they’ll be here soon to explain everything.” David, Eve’s dad, sat down next to Maisy, and everything felt peaceful. Until the doctor came in.
“Hi Evangeline, I’m doctor Granger. How are you feeling?” Despite being a tall man, doctor Granger wasn’t imposing, and he stood semi-awkwardly inside the door.
“Icky,” Eve half laughed, “and heavy.”
He scribbled it down on a clipboard that was folded inside the tray at the foot of Eve’s bed. “I’m sorry to hear that Eve. I’m also sorry that right now I don’t have a lot of answers for you either. Your x-ray shows some swelling in your chest, and you have some abnormalities in your blood test results, so I have referred you to a haematologist who will be able to get to the bottom of the problem for you.” He smiled kindly. “They should be here to see you by tomorrow, but in the meantime we are going to keep you in overnight if that is okay, just so we can keep an eye on you. Great! I hope to see you fighting fit tomorrow ready for discharge.” Placing the file back in its place, doctor Granger left.
“What does he mean? Why can’t I go home?”
“I don’t know kiddo,” David comforted, “But we’ll stay with you all night.”
“We will, but I’ll also go home and pick you some bits for the night. Is there anything you want?” Maisy stood.
“Can you bring me my bear?”
“Of course sweetie. If there’s anything else you think of, let your dad know and he’ll text me. I’ll be back soon. I love you so much.” Another kiss on Eve’s forehead and Maisy left. Whilst she was gone the haematologist came to see Eve.
“Hi Eve, I’m doctor Brown, but you can call me Amy. I’m going to be your haematologist, so I’ll be investigating the abnormalities that appeared to get to the bottom of what made you pass out today. If you would like, I can go over in a bit more detail what we found that we want to investigate?” David nodded, Eve starting to drift asleep. Noticing, Amy started to talk to David instead.
“Okay, so the x-ray returned that there was some swelling around her chest and neck, specifically where we would consider her lymph nodes. This in itself isn’t a huge worry, but there was also a deficiency of red blood cells in her sample. Again, on its own this wouldn’t be anything to worry about, but because of her age, we just want to rule out some more severe possibilities. At this point I would say it is too early to be worrying too much.” She smiled reassuringly.
“What are these possibilities?”
“Well, mainly cancer. The symptoms demonstrated are parallel to those of a specific form of leukemia, but it is extremely rare, so it’s most likely no cause for concern.”
“Okay...” David was slightly in shock. “What’s the course of action now, then? There’ll be more tests?” Amy nodded.
“Yes, in the morning, I’ll be back to talk it over again with Eve and Maisy as well, answer any questions they have, or that you may have thought of, and I’ll take a sample of bone marrow from her hip before she is discharged. I understand that you are going to be worried, but try not to, as of now there is no real evidence that it is leukemia, we just want to rule it out as quickly as possible.” Another friendly smile before she left David and Eve alone. Maisy returned to a sleeping Eve and a crying David.
Amy returned the next day to take the sample of bone marrow, which she did quickly, and she took another sample of blood for further analysis. Then she was gone again. And then came dr Granger, who discharged Eve from the hospital, with a time arranged for when her test results would be back so they could be expecting a phone call.
Eve continued to bounce through the days, half maintaining her usual energy. It was her phone that was meant to get the call, so all day she carried around the note, brandishing it to each teacher at the start of the lesson. And eventually, at eleven forty seven AM, it rang in the middle of french. Dashing out of the classroom, Eve answered it.
“Good morning, is this Evangeline Miller?”
“Yep, that’s me.”
“Hi there Eve, it’s Amy Brown. I’ve got your test results back today. If it isn’t too much trouble, I would like to talk them over with you in person, if your parents could bring you through?” Why couldn’t she just say it over the phone? Didn’t that mean something was wrong? If everything was okay why would she have more to say?
“Yeah, yeah they’ll bring me. What time?”
“As soon as possible, if that’s okay?” Something was definitely wrong if she was urgent.
“Yep, I’ll be there soon. Thank you.” The line buzzed silent, until it rang. Her mum would be able to help.
“Mum?” A lump had formed in Eve’s throat.
“Evie baby, what’s the matter?”
“It’s the doctor, she wants to speak in person, asap. Can you pick me up?”
“Of course, I’ll be there in ten.” Once again the phone went dead, leaving Eve in the silence of the corridor. She was going to have to go back into the class eventually. Nobody knew, but she was still scared of being asked what was wrong. But it was barely a few minutes until her mum would be here, and she didn't want to keep her waiting, so she balled up the lump in her throat and pushed it into her stomach, trying to imagine it into courage. She had a feeling she was going to need a lot of that. In the classroom, she packed up her things, earning strange looks from her peers and a sympathetic glance from her teacher, who wandered over while the class was working in its groups.
“Is everything okay Eve?”
“Peachy, I just need to go.” She walked off, not wanting sympathy as if she was already dying. There was still a chance she wasn’t.
Amy met them at the hospital reception, walking them to a private consultation room. It was cramped with four people in there, but Eve felt empty enough to make up for it.
“Okay, the reason I wanted to give you your results face to face Eve is because I didn’t want you panicking.” Eve looked at the paper on the desk, but she couldn’t read upside down. “The sample of bone marrow came back, and it revealed cancerous cells. From the bone marrow and the blood sample, we’ve confirmed that you do have acute lymphoblastic leukemia.” Everything froze, silent and cold. Eve heard her parents stop breathing, she felt the tears welling in her mum’s eyes and the fear in her dad’s mind. But she felt nothing.
“So what does that mean? Is there a treatment?” Maisy was panicking, so much for that plan.
“Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a type of blood cancer, and it’s quite rare, that makes white blood cells enter the blood before they are ready, taking up space for the rest of the important bits of your blood. But just because it is rare doesn’t mean it is terminal. We have caught it early enough for it to be treatable; the majority of patients live a healthy life for at least five years. We’ll need to take some more tests to confirm the best route of treatment for you, but it will likely be based on chemotherapy and blood transfusions until we can get it into remission.”
“Okay."
"How long until treatment starts?” More panic. Eve wished that they would stop panicking.
“I’ll take the samples I need now, and then treatment should start within a week. If you would like, Eve, I can connect you with some charities and sources of information that should help you to learn more about what you’re going through?”
“No thank you, not right now. I think I just need to let it sink in. Thanks though. Can we just get the samples taken so I can go back to school? I have drama this afternoon.” It was the most she had spoken, and it snapped right out of her.
“Of course, right this way.”
The sample was taken, and Eve returned back to school just after the start of drama.
“Sorry I’m late.” She dumped her bag in the corner and joined the circle sat on the floor.
“No worries Eve. As I was saying, today we are learning about emotion memory and context. Does anybody know what emotion memory is?” A few people put their hand up, and somebody answered, but Eve didn’t pay attention to who. Maybe she didn’t have emotions, that was why she was so calm about all of this.
“Eve!” She looked up to see everyone on their feet in pairs working. She hadn’t even heard the assignment.
“Sorry sir, what are we doing?” She climbed to her feet, trying to muster the amount of energy she normally had.
“Right now Eve, you and me are going to have a little chat.” He walked up the few steps to the back row of seating, watching the students pretend to break up and give bad news. “What’s going on?”
“It’s nothing…” That was a lie. “I’m fine.”
“Is it a school thing?” She shook her head. “A home thing?” She shrugged. How could she even begin to categorise what kind of thing was making her upset.
“Is it a thing that a coffee would help?” She shook her head. At least for now, a coffee and a chat sounded like the worst thing in the world. While Eve waited for Mr Derbyshire to think of anything else to offer, she thought about what was happening at home. Were her mum and dad crying? Had they gone back to work, trying to ignore it? Were they sitting with coffee trying to figure out how to tell people close to them that their daughter had cancer and it might be terminal? She didn’t know.
The bell rang, and everyone clambered for their bags. Eve hoped that lesson was the only one of its kind.

Telephone
The phone rang. It rang again and again and again until his familiar voice sounded through the speaker.
“Hey, it’s me, although you probably knew that. Leave a message if you want, or send a text.”
“Hi, it’s me. Sorry, Emma. Forgot you can’t see me. But you have my number so you probably know who it is already. I’m just calling to say hi, don’t worry about calling back or anything. Yeah...
“Okay, so the thing is right, I really like you. I know we haven’t known each other very long, and I don’t even know if you have a girlfriend, and we’ve never even hung out together without the others, but I don’t know. There’s just something… cool… about you. Sorry, this probably sounds really creepy. You just make me feel so at ease you know, like I could talk about anything with you and you would never judge me. God, I sound like I’m trying to hire you as my therapist or something. I guess what I’m really trying to say is: I want to get to know you better. I feel invested in you, do you feel the same? I just want to know about you and your parents and all the stupid stuff like your middle name and what pets you have and whether you prefer peanut butter or nutella or if you have a nut allergy, and what type of bread you prefer, because I know you eat a load of bread because you’re always carb loading for the gym. Maybe you would take me sometime? What am I saying, I could never keep up with you, you work out three hours a day.
“Sorry I’m talking so much, I’m just so nervous. I need to shut up. Call me back maybe if you want to? If I haven’t scared you off. I should never have done this.”
A message lit up my darkened phone screen. It was him.
Hey! You rang? Just checking you’re okay, since it’s pretty late. Call me back if you need to x
Suddenly I was so glad I hadn’t left that message.

Flipped AU Spin Off
Prompted by the procrastination of writing the actual canon epilogue.
“Are they still bullying you?” Kenna nodded, mascara stains still fresh on her cheeks.
“It’s not that bad, not like it used to be.” She had watched Maya go through hell, and even now she didn’t want to worry her.
“You came to me crying. They made you cry. I won’t let them hurt you any more!” Maya pushed herself up from the floor, starting to pace aggressively. “Who did it?”
“Just the norma—”
“I need names!” Maya interrupted. “Just please K, give me their names and I can make them go away.” She took Kenna’s hands, staring into her eyes with her own, pleading for the names.
“I won’t let you hurt them.”
“Why not?! They hurt you without a second thought, why can’t we hurt them back?” Fresh tears led new tails down Kenna’s face, but she said nothing, waiting for Maya to stop. “They deserve to know how it feels, how you feel! Maybe then, when they aren’t so untouchable, they won’t hurt others as much.”
“You’ve changed May.” Kenna was quiet, a whisper compared to Maya’s yelling.
“What? Just because you won;t admit that I’m right you are saying that I’ve changed?!”
“You’ve become one of them. One of your uncles.” At that, Maya stopped pacing. For a few seconds she stood silent, before slumping onto the floor and sobbing.
“I’m sorry, sorry, they… I...” Kenna moved to sit next to her, but didn’t make any moves to comfort her.
“I know you’re trying May, but this isn’t something you can work through on your own. Tell your therapist next time you see them.”
“I… I can’t. They think… think that I’m do… doing so well.” Maya could barely talk between the sobs, but Kenna still couldn’t help her.
“If you won’t then I can’t be with you anymore May. I can’t be with you when you’re like this. If you choose me, then you tell your therapist.” Maya nodded her head, and Kenna pulled her in tight for a hug. “It’ll be okay May-bay, you can get through this.“
...
So, this was actually inspired by Heathers, because I’ve been really into that recently. And about the epilogue... it will come soon, but it is currently about ten words long.
But, because this is something I’ve been meaning to say forever and I am the worst and I keep forgetting, I am going to say this here, and at the end of the epilogue: a huge huge huge thank you to @honestlyitsjustkenna for letting me take Kenna, her oc, and mould her into my story. Big preesh, and go check out her story the price you pay. Big love to all, but specially her, love you K.

F̶a̶m̶i̶l̶y̶ ̶R̶e̶u̶n̶i̶o̶n̶ Maya: Chapter 13
Part 3 of Flipped AU
Masterpost
TRIGGER WARNINGS: GUN VIOLENCE, MANIPULATION, HOSPITAL SCENES, DRUG MENTIONS
Surely the emergency line couldn't be this full, Kenna thought as she waited for an operator to pick up the call.
By the time she returned to the kitchen, nothing seemed to have changed. Maya’s uncles were still attacking Anti on the floor, and Maya was still twitching as she started to wake. Nobody even noticed when Kenna crossed the room to hold Maya, petting her hair and covering her ears so she didn’t have to hear Anti’s pleas and cries.
Maya slowly started to regain her senses, but Kenna kept her hands covering her ears, preventing her from turning her head to see what was going on. But that couldn’t last forever, and when Maya started glitching Kenna let go.
Everyone was so concentrated on attacking Anti that they didn’t notice her regaining consciousness. Maya knew this, and she knew there was a way that this could be stopped.
“Kenna,” she whispered, “In Chase’s recording studio, there’s a fake panel, two in from the door hinges.” Maya fell back on the floor, as if she had never woken up, and Kenna left to the dining room, knowing she would be safer that way.
She ran through the corridor; luckily Maya had given her a half-tour, showing her the library and important rooms to avoid. Chase’s recording studio was one of the latter.
In the room, she counted the panels and tried pulling them off. On the fourth attempt, she found the right one, and there was a small hole inside the wall. Reaching inside it, her hand touched something cold, and as she pulled it out, she saw what it was.
A gun.
She hid it inside her jacket and ran back the way she came, meeting Maya in the dining room.
“How did you know about this?” Kenna questioned as she handed the gun to Maya.
“I-I don’t know, it’s just something I knew. I never knew about it before though, nobody ever told me.” Maya was glitching as she held the gun. Anti had taught her how to use one, knowing that his brothers would always be around and dangerous, but in the heat of the moment Maya was struggling to remember. After fiddling with it for a few minutes, she had it, and she unclicked the safety.
As calmly as she could manage, she walked out back into the kitchen, and holding the gun in both hands, she screamed, “Stop! Everyone stop it!”
They all turned to look at her, laying off Anti as they realised what was happening.
“You don’t know how to use that Little Duck, put it down before somebody gets hurt.” Maya shook and glitched, but the shaking of her head was an obvious no.
“Don-” Anti coughed and spluttered, “Don’t be so… so sure… I taught her a lot...”
Chase tried a different approach to Jackie, hoping that their hold on her was still strong.
“Now Little Duck, what have we told you about glitching?” She turned, pointing the gun at Chase as he spoke, but it was clear she was conflicted.
“No, you lied to me… you lied to me...” her voice was soft, her mind trying to find fault, who was wrong. Everything was so wrong.
Whilst everyone was frozen, Anti managed to climb to his feet. Having basically lived with Kenna for the past few years he understood as she signed “police” over her stomach.
“Together?” He replied, keeping his hands low and his movements small. Kenna nodded.
“May,” Kenna took a step towards Maya, and placed her hand on her shoulder. Maya glitched in shock as she felt the touch, enveloping Kenna’s hand in her static for a split second.
Kenna understood how scared she was, and gently took her shaking wrists, pushing her arms towards the floor.
“Pumpkin,” Maya didn’t respond to her pet name, shattering Anti’s heart.
“Maya, it’s Anti, it’s papa. Everything is okay now,” he took a step towards her, glitching through the crowd of enemies. “I’ll protect you.” More steps, each time whispering words of comfort. All he had to do was get to her before the police showed up. That was all.
As the sirens sounded down the street, he was a pace away, but he managed to grab the gun from her hands and point it back at his brothers before they could start to move.
The brothers, once again held at gunpoint, started swearing, and continued to try and coerce Maya into returning to them.
“Little Duck, we can protect you, we can protect you from everything.” Jackie started, knowing what was about to come.
“We know where you live Little Duck, you’ll never be safe unless you’re with us.” Marvin continued.
“Think about all the questions you’re going to have to answer, they’ll think you’re lying Maya.” Maya looked up at Chase’s final blow.
“I… I’m not… I’m not lying… You lied, you all lied...” Slowly she started glitching, stronger and stronger. Slowly she became less tangible, a flickering ghost. Slowly she moved, becoming stronger inside the circle of her uncles. And as she calmed, she became human again, this time with the gun held loosely in her hand.
It was perfect. Jameson took the gun from her hand, as Chase hugged her. “You see? That wasn’t so hard was it?” Maya shook her head as he let go. “And this is what you get for it.” Jameson passed the gun to Chase, who shoved it into the side of her head.
Before anything else could happen, the door burst down, and police swarmed in.
“Police, put your hands where I can see them!” Six pairs of hands went up, Chase holding Maya still as he kept the gun pressed against her head. Shielded by the others, the police officer couldn’t see the danger Maya was in.
“I said hands where I can see them!”
“Like this then?” Chase turned the two of them around, showing the officer the gun and hostage.
“Sir, put the gun down.” The police officer tried to reason with Chase. “Let the child go.”
“Hmmm, I’d rather not. My life ends either way, why not ruin some others?” He gestured with the gun as he spoke, forcing it further into Maya’s head as he finished, causing her to whimper.
“Please Uncle Chase...” Maya pleaded. It was the first time she had ever referred to any of them as her uncle, and it took Chase by surprise. “I forgive you.”
“Forgive me? I’ve done nothing wrong little duck! You must be confused! Isn’t she, she’s confused!”
“Okay then, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I wasn’t the niece you wanted me to be when you kidnapped me. After all of this we can fix that.” Chase didn’t know that the house was now surrounded by armed police.
“Really?” He loosened his grip on Maya, turning her to face him. She nodded, and he pulled her in for a hug. Anti turned to Kenna, utterly confused, but turned back at the strangled cry of Chase, who’s stomach had just met Maya’s knee.
“You little shit!” He doubled over, and Maya pushed through the other’s racing for Anti. Before she reached him, Chase had grabbed the gun and shot it.
“Maya!” Anti closed the final few steps, cradling Maya as Kenna grabbed a towel to press on the wound. The bullet had entered her chest, but they didn’t know if it had hit anything. Armed police raced in after the gunshot, tackling Chase to the ground and putting him in handcuffs. Next came the paramedics, needing to get to Maya. All the while, the uncles stood in silence, while Anti and Kenna huddled together, watching the paramedics placing Maya on a stretcher and moving her out of the room.
After that came the rest of the police, coming to question the witnesses and secure the scene.
Anti cared about none of that, he only cared that the second he had got Maya back his brothers took her away again.
Anti and Kenna were taken to the hospital after their statements were taken. When they arrived, there was no Maya to see though, for she was in surgery as they tried to remove the bullet.
As they waited, a nurse came out to speak to them. “You must be Miss Williams’ family?” They nodded. “Okay, would you like to come with me.” She led them to a small room. “Maya is in theatre for her gunshot wound. The bullet entered just above the heart, but went straight through her left lung. It then rebounded off her rib and got stuck in her collar bone after shattering some of it. The bones won’t be too hard to fix and should have few repercussions into the future, however the lung, whilst not being fatal, will take more time to heal.” Anti nodded.
“Okay, but that’s it? That’s not too bad.”
“No, considering where the bullet was aimed she has been very lucky. However, there are some other things we need to inform you off.” Anti knew that this was going to be the list of damage caused by his brothers. “Well, firstly, she has a build up of scar tissue around many of her vital organs, without having any visibly scarring on the surface. She also has a small fracture in her skull, and bruising on the muscle and flesh of the head. As well, she has traces of flunitrazepam, a common date rape drug, and phenothiazine, a drug used for psychosis. Do you have any idea why she might have these in her system?”
“It will have been my brothers. They kidnapped her. Does the psychosis drug have sedative properties?” The nurse nodded. “They’ll have given them to her.”
“Mr Williams—”
“Murphy, Mr Murphy, please.”
“Of course, Mr Murphy, you understand that we will have to report this to the police?”
“I would hope so, it was one of them that shot her.” He stood up. “Is that all?”
“Yeah, that’s all.” The nurse was still struggling to get over the shock of what he had just told her.
“Then I would like it if we could return to the waiting room to wait for Maya.” Anti placed his hand on Kenna’s shoulder and guided her out.
...
So... that ending huh? There will be an epilogue coming out soon, but this is the final chapter. This is the first big project I’ve ever completed and since coming up with the idea I have absolutely fallen in love with all the characters, as well as you guys who share your reactions with me. Vanessa and Sam, I adore seeing what you put in the tags, and Kate, I love seeing what you say outside of the tags. Just thank you, thank you thank you thank you so so so much. ~A. Xx

̶A̶n̶t̶i̶ Maya: Chapter 12
Part 3 of Flipped AU
Masterpost
TRIGGER WARNINGS: PHYSICAL VIOLENCE, SEDATION WITHOUT CONSENT
Maya was kept in the lab for a while, still under careful supervision, despite being fully healed.
The next day she was let out though, and everyone went back to work. It was only her and Kenna in the house, and they were happy to spend time together after not seeing each other for a few days. Maya even made pancakes for breakfast.
However, when they were eating, there was a knock on the door.
“I’ll get it, it’s probably just the post or something.” Maya stood from her stool and walked to the door. Unlatching it, she opened it slightly, seeing who was outside before she let them in fully. Stood in front of her, alive as ever, was her papa.
“Hello?” She realised that she hadn’t yet fully opened the door, and had just been staring at him through the sliver she had opened it by. Scared, she slammed it shut again and went back to the kitchen.
“Who was it May?” She hadn’t looked as Maya as she re-entered the room, but if she had she wouldn’t have spoken so nonchalantly, seeing how pale Maya was.
“It was papa.” The words were barely a whisper, but it confirmed something to her that she hadn’t realised before: everything was a lie.
“Okay... do you want me to go and open the door? You can stay here.” Maya nodded, and Kenna helped her sit on a stool before she left. Opening the door, it was Anti that stood in front of her.
“Where’s—” he stopped short, not expecting a pleasantly familiar face to greet him. “Is Maya here?” Kenna nodded.
“What about anyone else? Any adults?” Kenna shook her head, not sure what she should say and what would get her into trouble.
“Can I come in?”
“I don’t know.”
“Scared they’ll hit you if you do the wrong thing? What about if I just come in? Then you had no part in this.” Kenna nodded.
“Okay.” Anti walked in. “So Kenna, why are you here?”
“I don’t really know. I think I was a present for May, but they never told me anything.”
“Cool, they kidnap kids now, that’s a fun progression.” Kenna took the lead as they walked in silence, until they reached the kitchen where Chase was now standing in front of Maya, facing the door as he tried to calm her down.
“Get the fuck away from her.” Anti growled, pushing Kenna behind him.
“Hey there little bro! I would say it’s nice to see you again, but since you upset our little duck, that would be a lie.” Chase straightened his back, shushing Maya as he walked out of her view. “See what you’ve done to her?”
”No. You did this to her when you took her away from me.” No matter how true it was, Anti hated throwing the blame. Even after all those years, he was still conditioned to fear them.
“What was that? It’s all your fault and you’ll leave her with us? That’s what I thought.”
“Not this time.” He was glitching sporadically now, it was as if there were three of him. That only encouraged Chase to call in the final four brothers.
"Isn't this nice? A family reunion. It even looks like you're gonna give us a few rounds for old time's sake, huh?"
Chase's smile was sadistic as they started to close in around Anti and Kenna. Maya stood frozen, unsure of what to do, until Chase pulled his arm back.
"Wait!" Her fear cut through the tension, and everyone faced her.
"Leave papa alone!" Chase dropped his arm, and while he stayed far too close to Anti, Marvin stalked over towards her.
"Why for, little duck? Don't tell us you care for him over us? After all we've done for you these past months. Who healed you? Who comforted you while you grieved?" Maya dropped her head.
"Who fed and clothed you? Got your girlfriend here when you asked? Cared for you with all our hearts?" Slowly, Marvin's hand snaked around Maya's shoulder, and left him with two options. It was on Chase's command. After a pause, he spoke.
"Who used dangerous magic to heal you?" The command given, Marvin's hand sent a pulse of magic through Maya, who crumpled to the floor.
Anti screamed and pushed those surrounding him, trying desperately to reach his baby girl.
Helpless: Kenna stood and watched as the mob pushed her out and turned on him, and he was soon crumpled on the floor like his daughter.
In the commotion, Kenna saw Maya start to stir from across the room; she was waking up; she couldn't wake to this. Kenna had to do something. There was only one thing she could do, and it was risky. She had to call the police.

Maya: Chapter 11
Part 3 of Flipped AU
Masterpost
TRIGGER WARNINGS: ANIMAL DEATH, DARK MAGIC
Everyone learned of Henrik’s outbreak as they returned to the house throughout the day, however no one was able to reprimand him for it until evening, as he spent the majority of the day trying to “fix” Maya.
Eventually, after the others had eaten a very tense dinner, Henrik emerged, tired and annoyed, but safe.
“She’ll live.” He declared, before turning to leave the room.
“You do not get off that easy Henrik, you know this. I don’t care that you fixed her, if you hadn’t, we would have lost the only reason that Anti is coming here.”
“Yes, yes I understand. Get it over with.” Everyone stood, and formed a line around Henrik. Jackie, the eldest, threw the first punch, before leaving to sit down again.
The order followed down their ages, Marvin, Chase then finally Jameson. As Jameson sat back down, Henrik left the room, going to find some food before he went to bed. He didn’t care if Maya woke, or even if she was in pain: it was her fault this had happened.
Surprisingly, Chase had given in to Kenna’s pleas, and allowed her to see Maya. Maya had been half awake when Kenna had entered, and she had made sure to let her know that if she needed anything, to wake her. Not that she slept. She spent the whole night too scared to even doze. Every night she had been there had been plagued with nightmares, and Maya holding her was the only thing that would help to ward them off. But now, with Maya in the hospital bed, she couldn’t hold her, and Kenna couldn’t sleep for nightmares.
As well as this, Maya woke frequently in the night, almost like a clock, every three hours when one set of her painkillers had worn off. Really she should have been on a drip, but Kenna didn’t want to say anything, knowing that Henrik had done this to her. So, when Maya woke her up, she would give her painkillers, and help her get back to sleep, often clutching her hand.
Kenna woke up in bed, Maya nowhere to be found. It took her a moment before she remembered that she was in the hospital. But she had been there with her, who had moved her? She didn’t remember falling asleep, but maybe she had. She glanced at the clock, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. It was almost midday! She jumped out of bed, swapping her pyjamas for clothes and rushed to the door. Wait, she had never put pyjamas on last night. A shudder ran through her as she thought of one of Maya’s uncles changing her, but she tried to suppress it; she wanted to get back to Maya. She turned the door handle and tugged, but it wouldn’t budge. Pulling harder, she started to panic. Someone had locked her in!
“Let me out!” She banged on the door, making as much noise as she could. Eventually it opened, a tired looking Marvin on the other side.
“Look, just shut up okay. Nobody got any sleep last night, just because you did, doesn’t mean you can start causing a scene.”
“I…” Marvin’s abruptness startled her somewhat. “I just want to see May.”
“Later, okay? She’s asleep and we want her to stay that way; she kicked up a real fuss after you went to bed, bust all her stitches, and didn’t let any of us sleep. She needs to calm down on her own.”
“Okay.” Kenna went to move around Marvin and out of the room, but he continued to block the door. “Can I get some breakfast?”
“No, to make sure you don’t disturb her, we’re going to keep you here today. We’ll bring you food when we eat, but that’s it.” Before Kenna could argue, Marvin had shut the door, and she heard the lock click.
Meanwhile, the rest of the uncles were sat in the kitchen, discussing Maya.
“We know Anti is coming; he could show up any second, so we need Maya to be ready.” Jameson said. “And right now, she isn’t.” Everyone nodded.
“There is nothing more I can do for her, it will take time for her to heal.” Henrik spoke, defensive over his earlier outburst.
“We know, but Anti can’t show up with her like this, otherwise he could just take her away. We need her on her feet and fighting for us.” Now Chase was almost yelling: they didn’t understand the importance of this.
“Look,” Jackie spoke, “I’ll talk to Marvin, see if he can help speed up the process and what the cost would be.”
“Good, go and do that, sooner rather than later.” Jackie stood from the table, and left to find Marvin.
“Hey Marvin,” Jackie waved awkwardly as he walked towards him.
“What do you want?”
“Well, Anti is going to be here by the end of the week, and Maya isn’t going to be ready by then. We were wondering if you could maybe sort that for us?” He laughed nervously.
“You want me to heal her? Is she still that bad?”
“Yeah, she’s still completely out of it. Henrik said she died twice when he tried to save her. She’s really lucky to be alive, but we need her fighting in a few days.”
“It’s a powerful spell, you know, so it will be costly.”
“And what will it cost?”
“A life. An animal should do, like a dog or a cat. On second thoughts, best keep it a dog.”
“How soon can you do it?” Jackie was hesitant, the idea of killing a dog mildly upsetting him. “How soon can you get me a dog?” Marvin smirked, and Jackie left.
A few hours later Jackie returned, half dragging a dog behind him. It was so old it could barely walk, and the shelter had been days away from putting it down.
“So this is what you brought me?” Marvin smirked.
“Look, it was going to get put down in a few days anyway, and it’s a living breathing dog, so it will work, right? What’s the difference?”
“Nothing, nothing at all. It’s just strange seeing you so compassionate.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Marvin cut off his laughter, trying to keep a straight face as Jackie covered the dog’s ears and kissed it’s head.
“Alright, help me get him up the stairs and I’ll leave you alone.”
The spell started, and Marvin took some of the blood in his hands, lifting it above a candle before letting it drip into the flame. He muttered some words, drawing symbols, before the dog disappeared, and he felt a surge of power rush through him. It wouldn’t last long, these forces were out for what they could get. He rushed through to Maya’s bedside, and chanted some more words, watching as the pallor of her face softened, before letting Henrik check that the wounds were fully healed. They were.

Maya: Chapter 10
Part 3 of Flipped AU
Masterpost
TRIGGER WARNINGS: PHYSICAL VIOLENCE, ABUSE, CHARACTER DEATH, STABBING, STRANGULATION, MURDER
Time was ticking down, he had tried so hard to find Maya. Eventually he thought of the last place he could look: the phone book. Surely one of them would have their name and address in there, then he could finally find Maya. He flicked through the pages, Chase being the first in the line. He wasn’t there, but Anti had expected that, he probably wanted to keep his address secret from the millions of fans he never shuts up about.
Then was Jameson. He didn’t have his name in either, but again, it was what Anti expected.
He flicked to Jackie, fully expecting there to be nothing there, and he was correct.
Fourth was Henrik, but again, there was no entry.
Finally was Marvin. He scoured the pages, flicking through the T’s until he got to Turner. The M. Turners. He looked and looked, surely Marvin, an entertainer would have his phone number in the phone book. Please please please.
There he was. Marvin Turner, there were only three in the book, and only one had the title of entertainer next to them. Tentatively, he called the number, wanting to be sure it was him.
“Hello, who is it?”
“Are you Marvin the Magnificent?”
“Yes, of course I am, do you want to book me or are you wasting my time?” Anti hung up. He had found them, he had found Maya!
He wrote the address down, and almost ran out of the house then and there, until he remembered that there was going to be five against one, possibly six depending on what they had done to Maya. He hoped she was okay, that they hadn’t hurt her too badly, but knowing his brothers, that wasn’t a possibility. He just had to be ready to deal with whatever they had done to her when she got home.
In another place, exactly while Anti was hoping that Maya would come out of this with only mild trauma, she was huddled in her wardrobe, hiding from a fuming Henrik who was tearing through the house trying to find her. She had never seen him that angry before, and she was terrified that he would break her like the bottle of pills she had knocked onto the floor.
“Maya, come out here!” His footsteps got louder, and she knew he was in her bedroom.
“Where is she?” Kenna yelped as he grabbed her hair, pulling her over to the wall where he wrapped his hands around her neck.
“I.. I don’t… I—”
“Stop.” Kenna’s choked lie was broken by Maya, whispering just loud enough to be heard. Immediately Henrik dropped his grip on Kenna’s neck, letting her drop to the ground to regain her breath, and stormed over to the wardrobe, almost ripping the door off as he opened it.
“And what are you doing in here little duck?”
Any bravery Maya had displayed to protect Kenna instantly disappeared when faced with Henrik, and as such she couldn’t bring herself to speak.
“Come.” Henrik pulled Maya out of the closet, and dragged her through to his lab; she was terrified of resisting, but even more scared of what was about to happen, so she pulled back, trying to get away from him.
“Don’t fight me and this will be much easier.” The muttered words sent a shiver down Maya’s spine. Whatever he was going to do was not going to be easy, no matter how submissive she was.
They got to the lab, and Henrik pointed at the smashed bottle on the floor.
“These are expensive. Tidy up your mess.” Maya slowly got down onto her knees, but he pushed her forward, her hands landing in the pile of smashed glass. Whimpering, she looked at the glass now embedded into her palms.
“Tidy up.” He kicked her, forcing her to continue to clean despite her injuries.
When she was done, he examined the pills that were now in a new bottle.
“This won’t do, they’re bloody. You have ruined them, you stupid girl.” He grabbed the back of her shirt, dragging her back to her feet.
“You shall pay for this.” Something within Maya clicked. This was it. A certain resignation overwhelmed her; this was the end of her. There was no point in submission now, whatever she did would lead to her death, so why not go out fighting.
Screaming, she began to pull against Henrik, trying to both escape him and get close enough to him so that she could push him away. She wanted to leave a mark, anything that would remind them of what they did to her. Not that they would care, she had learned of their ways, how many deaths they caused or allowed, all for money or fame.
“Stop fighting!” Henrik seemed to become stronger the more Maya fought.
“Not until you kill me, you fucking bastard! Let me go!” She still wouldn’t give up, even when every remaining survival instinct she had was screaming at her to make it easy. And that’s when it happened.
For the first time since she joined the family; she glitched. Out of his grip, and behind him. But her surprise outweighed his, and he recovered quicker, grabbing a scalpel from his desk and shoving it into Maya’s stomach.
She didn’t scream, no sound was formed at all, just a look of pain and fear on her face. Henrik pulled it out, taking advantage of her dazed state, shoving it into her stomach again and again, until she was collapsing on the floor.
Marvin, who was the only other one home, had heard the sudden lack of commotion and had come to see what was happening. When he saw Maya crumpled on the floor, pouring blood, he sighed.
“Again Henrik? Really? You better be able to fix her, or Chase will murder you and make sure you don’t come back.”
And then he left.
...
Oh my god I love this chapter so much and I have no idea why. Tbh, my chapter notes are fricken hilarious

Maya: Chapter 9
Part 3 of Flipped AU
Masterpost
TRIGGER WARNINGS: THREATS
Back at the house, Henrik and Jackie had moved Kenna into the meeting room, tying her to the chair where Maya would normally sit. She almost woke up at one point, but a punch from Jackie swiftly knocked her back unconscious. They left her there, greeting Marvin and Jameson to discuss how each plan had gone until Maya and Chase returned home.
“You should’ve seen his face, he would’ve ripped the stitches out of his neck with a chainsaw if it meant he would get her home safe!” They laughed, Marvin nodding as if backing up Jameson’s statement.
“If he hadn’t figured it out as quick as he did, he probably would’ve punched us both before we got the chance to give him the first clue.”
“Imagine the fun we could have if we had that as an excuse!” Henrik’s point was true, and they all laughed some more at how well everything had come off.
There was a knock at the front door, Jameson had put the chain on so they had an excuse for Chase not to immediately bring Maya into the house, in case they needed time to finish something up. Jackie stood up, still smiling, and went to open it, whilst the others picked up gaming controllers and put the television on Mario Kart. It gave them an excuse to be laughing and smiling, as well as an alibi for the day.
“Don’t tell me you’ve been playing this all day?!” Chase grumbled, jumping onto the sofa and picking up Jackie’s controller.
“Of course not! We’ve not played it after dinner yet!” Marvin joked, and Jackie took his controller back from Chase.
“Hey little duck, do you want to join? We can have a family tournament!” Chase grabbed an extra controller for himself, and extended one out towards Maya.
”I won’t be very good, I’ve never played before.” It was a complete lie; she used to play all the time with Kenna.
“It’s okay, we’ll go easy on you.” Maya took the controller, and the games started. It had been a long time since she had played, and she didn’t have to fake coming last.
Eventually, she got bored of being mocked for losing and stood.
“I’m going to make dinner.” She walked out.
While everyone was eating, Chase declared that there would be a family meeting half an hour after dinner finished, and everyone should look respectable for it, as it was important. This puzzled Maya, the only one who did not know about Kenna, but after walking out of the games earlier that evening, she didn’t want to push her luck by questioning it.
Time for the meeting came, and Maya, dressed in what she considered her nicest dress, made her way to the meeting room. Jameson was waiting outside the room, but she could hear the voices long before he spoke.
“Sorry, little duck, you’re going to have to wait until you’re told you can go in. Henrik’s orders.”
Since when did Henrik give orders? From Maya’s observations he was only high enough in the ranking to give orders when it was medical. Was someone hurt? What had happened in there?
Why did she care? The realisation hit her as the question. Surely she didn’t care about these people, not when they had been so cruel to her. But then, hadn’t they taken her in when she had nowhere else to turn? Hadn’t they clothed, fed, and housed her for over a month for no return? But, she thought, hadn’t they also hit her whenever they saw her glitching? Denied her the medication she needed from the doctors, not let her see her girlfriend, lied to her more times than she could count? The line between caring and not was too hazy to make out exactly where she stood on it.
“Maya,” Jameson stood next to Jackie now, “you can come in.” It was strange how they kept next to her as she entered the room, as if they were poised for action.
She scanned the room; everyone’s eyes were on her, their faces tight with anticipation. What were they waiting for?
Then she saw it. Or more exactly, her. Her eyes landed on Chase, and the seat next to him, occupied by a blindfolded girl. She wasn’t tied down like she had been, but she wasn’t barely moving, only shaking in fear, and trying not to flinch away as Chase stroked her hair.
“Kenna.” It was barely audible, even Jameson barely heard it, but Jackie managed to make it out, and grabbed Maya’s arm as she started to fight.
“No! Get off me! Let her go, let her go!” Now Jameson grabbed her other arm, and she was held an inch off the ground.
“You can’t do this! Please, you can’t do this to her, let her go!” She was screaming, blocking the sobs in her throat with curses and hatred and fear for the last living person she loved. Her legs were kicking now that they weren’t on the ground, but she couldn’t land a shot. She was sure that she was glitching but she didn’t care anymore.
The men started to move, walking her over to the head of the table, where Chase had moved out of her chair and was now standing behind Kenna. He was still petting her hair. There was no nice rope this time when they tied her down, it was cable ties that cut into her wrists and ankles.
“I hate you. I hate you all, I hope you die in a fire.” Words were all she had left to make them know how angry she was, but all she got was a chuckle from Chase as she lowered her head.
“Awww, has our little duck tired herself out? Have you run out of fight?” He paused for an answer, but Maya had nothing left to say to any of them. “Good, maybe now you can finally stop being such an ungrateful brat and let us give you your present.”
“What?”
“Your present, the thing that Jackie and Henrik worked so hard to get for you, and you are being so ungrateful. Maybe you don’t deserve it after all.” She stopped. That was a threat, there was no way that they were saying if she continued to act out Kenna would be let go, but she couldn’t tell what he meant. Surely he wouldn’t…
“Good, now.” He continued, talking about how well Maya had been behaving recently, and how they felt, as a family, that deserved praise. Marvin then broke in about how bad he felt that she couldn’t have a pet because of him, and he felt like he wanted to make it up to her. Apparently, that was where the idea of getting her Kenna came from.
Chase, being the asshole that he was, picked Kenna up from her chair, causing her to yelp in shock, and placed her on Maya’s lap.
“But doesn’t that feel nice, little duck? Having your girlfriend here with you?”
“Sh-she’s not my girlfriend.” Her cheeks went red, and she saw Kenna’s pale face flush as well.
“Whatever. Nice or not?” Everyone was getting impatient, and Maya could now feel how quickly Kenna’s heart was beating. She needed to get them both out of there.
“Yeah, it’s nice. Thank you.” Everyone’s faces softened, and the cable ties were cut from her wrists and ankles. Immediately, she grabbed onto Kenna, holding her close and whispering comforting words to her like she wished someone had done when she first woke up at the house.
“Off you go, you two lovebirds. Remember, curfew is eleven.” Jackie smirked at the implications, but Maya helped Kenna stand, and carefully led her out of the room before she took her blindfold off.
Her face was covered in bruises, and a small trail of blood was making its way down her face from a cut on her forehead.
“I’m so sorry they did this to you Kenna.” Gently, she wiped some of the blood from the cut, and took her hand, leading her up to her bedroom and sitting her on the bed.
“Where were you? I’ve been worried sick about you, you haven’t answered any calls or texts; you completely disappeared for a whole month!”
“I know. I’m sorry. I couldn’t contact you, they wouldn’t let me, I don’t have a phone or a computer, I’m not even allowed out of the house without one of them. I wish I could explain more, but I barely know what’s happening myself.” For the first time since she had come to the house, Maya started crying. Properly crying, not from pain, not from being hit, but crying real tears of emotion.
“Come here.” Kenna pulled Maya into her arms, as much for herself as for Maya, and they stayed there until they cried themselves to sleep.
...
Okay, so long story short, I go back to school in 3 days and I would like to get this somewhere near wrapped up by then, so chapter 10 is going to come out half an hour after this one goes up, and then it will be moving to an update a day until it finishes. As it is starting to wrap up, I want to say thank you again, from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has read flipped, this has been my first big solo project and to receive so much love really warms my heart. I love you all so much. ~A xx

̶U̶n̶c̶l̶e̶s̶ Maya: Chapter 8
Part 3 of Flipped AU
Masterpost
TRIGGER WARNINGS: VIOLENCE, KIDNAPPING, BLACKMAIL, LIGHT IMPLICATIONS OF RAPE
Maya woke up early the next morning, excited about the day to come. Dressing before going down to breakfast, she was already imagining feeding her new dog, and taking it on long walks by herself.
In the kitchen, Chase was also up, as were Jameson and Marvin, planning how they would reveal to Anti that they had Maya. Chase had been smart with choosing them two for the task: they both had a creative flair. When Maya walked through the doorway, the conversation turned to who would tell Maya. Before Maya could ask what they had to tell her, the three fell quiet and Marvin gestured for her to sit next to him.
Without food in front of her, she felt awkward sitting at the island next to him, but didn’t make a fuss. Instead, she waited for him to finish his mouthful, and start talking.
“So little duck, what we need to tell you is that you can’t have a dog.” He looked apologetic.
“It’s my fault, really, it’s because of my magic. You see, it doesn’t react well to animals, I can’t even do birthday parties if they have pets, it can become that uncontrollable. And I know you don’t want to put any of us in danger by getting a pet.”
“No.” Maya lied. “I don’t want any of you to get hurt.” She really did.
“But don’t worry,” Chase joined in, “I know how excited you were to spend some time with me, so we can still go out into the city. I can even vlog it for the channel, I’m sure everyone would love to meet you.”
“Yeah, that would be cool.” That would be awful. “I would love to meet some of your fans.” She would hate it.
“Great! We’ll head out after you’ve had breakfast.” Maya nodded, and went to get some cereal from the pantry.
They left soon after, the house now free to talk about their plans without secrecy.
Part 1…
Henrik and Jackie sat in the empty dining room, discussing their plan. Originally, they had planned to take Kenna in a similar way to how they had taken Maya, but they didn’t know enough about her; they didn’t even know her parents’ names.
“All I’m saying is, the one thing we know for certain about her is that she likes Maya in some way.” Jackie was adamant that would be what helped them come up with the plan, whereas Henrik was only getting more and more frustrated at his stubbornness.
“How will it help us? How exactly will it help us bring her here?”
“I don’t know, but it will. I know it will! As certain as I am Jackieboyman!” Henrik’s face lit up, he had it.
“No, I tell you what will help, your red suit, and some convincing black clothing.”
“What?!”
“Would it not be very unfortunate for Kenna to get, say, mugged, and Jackieboyman to rescue her, but as she has already lost her purse and phone, he allows her to show her gratitude in a different way.” Henrik was grinning maliciously.
“Henrik, dude, that is fucked up, even for you. She’s a kid.”
“It is not like you haven’t done it before.” Jackie opened his mouth to protest, but Henrik didn’t let him speak. “Just because we have to be in bed by eleven, doesn’t mean we sleep, my brother. But your point about her being a child is fair, maybe her mugger could knock her out, and Jackieboyman takes her out of a dark alley to keep her safe.” He tapped his brother’s face. “Now go and get your suit on, school will end soon.”
Henrik sat in his idling car with Jackie as they waited for the school bell to ring and the students to start rushing out. Soon they did, and both watching for her, they saw her trailing alone at the back of the crowd. She walked off the site, and in the opposite direction to most of the other kids. Slowly, they pulled the car out, and drove down the street, passing her. Around the corner, Henrik parked the car, and hid in an alleyway, close enough to the street to see Kenna coming. In his right hand he held a needle, but his left hand was empty, ready to grab her as she passed.
Meanwhile, Jackie had run up the stairs of the tallest building on the street, and was perched on the edge of the roof, waiting to see Kenna walking down the street. When he did, he knew he had to wait until she was pulled into the alleyway by Henrik, then he could move. It would look the most organic that way as well, as if he had simply been on patrol and seen something bad happen.
Kenna had earbuds in, blasting jazz music to drown out the hum of the city as she walked home; because of this, she never heard Henrik’s shuffling feet in the alleyway. She never even noticed his existence until he had a firm grip on her arm, and had pulled her off the main street. She yelped, but his hand was over her mouth before much sound could get out. The needle was stuck into her neck before Jackie had sprung off the roof, drifting through the air until he could land softly, rolling before he ran the rest of the street to the alley. Henrik had, as planned, run back to the car, and driven off before Jackie had reached the entrance, leaving Kenna half conscious on the ground.
“Hi, hey, can you hear me?” Jackie shook Kenna’s shoulders, pulling her earbuds out as her head flopped slightly, but her eyes fluttered open.
“Jackieboyman?! Are you here to save me?”
“Something like that. Come on, let’s get you somewhere safe.” He scooped her up in his arms and took off, flying over the cityscape until Kenna was safely unconscious. Then, he landed back in an alley, where Henrik had been waiting for him, and together they put her in the backseat, and drove home.
Their little duck would be so happy.
And now, part 2…
Marvin and Jameson hadn’t needed to spend as much time on coming up with their plan as Jackie and Henrik had, instead they had spent the whole morning rehearsing. After all, you can’t do a show without rehearsals.
They left together, mid afternoon, to Anti’s house, Marvin directing them from memory of where Maya would spend her evenings. It was small, very homely; not what they imagined him or Louise settling down into. The lights were on inside, and they parked the car over the road, preparing for their performance.
Marvin ran out of the car, posting a handwritten letter through the letterbox and knocking on the door, before standing flat against the wall, ready to blast him with magic. The letterbox shut softly, and Marvin knew he was about to open the door. A click of the lock, and brushing of carpet as the door opened, and Anti stepped outside, barefoot. Marvin shot the blast of magic before Anti realised he was there, but it took a few seconds before it took over. In that time, Anti turned to the attack, and saw his brother.
In turn, Marvin took him in as well. He looked broken, the green tint of his skin turned from bright to sickly, and deep purple bags sat under his eyes, as if he hadn’t slept for weeks. Marvin caught him just as he started to fall, and dragged him inside, leaving the door open for Jameson, who was climbing out of the car, to follow.
Anti woke up with a splitting headache, had he got drunk again last night? Maybe, but his hangovers had never been this bad before. He opened his eyes and looked up, seeing Marvin and Jameson sat on the sofa opposite him. Why were his brothers here? Thinking about it, their presence explained why his head was aching so much. Marvin must’ve attacked him.
“Why are you here?” His voice was hoarse even though he had only been out for a few minutes.
“Anti, brother, you’re awake!”Jameson sprung up, Marvin following.
“You see, we had a message to deliver, and we thought we could play a little game, for old time’s sake. Doesn’t that sound fun?”
“I said, why are you in my house?” Anti kept his head bowed, not trusting them enough to look in their eyes.
“Brother, dear brother, where is the fun in just telling you?” Marvin smirked. “We have made it much more fun, like a scavenger hunt! Except with each clue you find, you get an extra day to find your precious daughter.”
It took a moment for Anti to realise what Marvin had just told him. “You cunts! You have my daughter! You took her, just to get at me! I swear to god I’m going to fucking kill you.”
“Anti, calm down! You wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to her would you?” Jameson held up a remote. They all had one, and it controlled the ‘choker’ that Chase had put on Maya the second day.
“You wouldn’t! You sick fuck.” Anti was snarling, his vow as good as broken if it would protect her.
“Oh, we already have. But one push of this button and a pulse of energy goes through her spine. Let’s just hope she’s not holding anything sharp.” Jameson pressed the button, and Anti struggled against the chair. He didn’t know that Chase had turned the collar off so he could take her outside of the house, and they weren’t about to tell him.
“Okay, so let me go, I do this stupid scavenger hunt, and then I come to your dumb fucking mansion and I kill every last one of you.” Surprisingly, Marvin walked over behind him and untied his restraints. It took every ounce of willpower not to lunge at them both then and there, but he couldn’t risk Maya’s safety. She was all he had.
“So what’s the first clue?” And just like that their game began.
It was evening by the time their game was finished. Anti was covered in sweat, tears, and a little blood, but he had found all of the clues. His prize? Ten days from when Jameson and Marvin left his house to find Maya. If she wouldn’t go with him, or he couldn’t find her in time, he lost and he would sign all parental rights over to Louise, and they kept her forever.
They left, and the countdown begun.

Flipped AU Spin-off
For the prompt I reblogged yesterday. This is a spin-off from the Flipped AU universe, but is not canon at present.
have fun ;)
Anti heard a knocking at the door. It was late, Maya had gone to bed an hour ago, but Anti was still up after his favourite movie started playing on the tv.
The knocking came again, soft and weak. Anti decided that he needed to tell whoever it was to go away, he didn’t want them getting louder and waking Maya up. So, he walked over to the door and opened it. There, slumped and only half standing, was Jackie.
“Jackie? What the hell—” he stopped abruptly as Jackie looked up at him, his eyes glassy and confused.
“I… Anti… I didn’t know where else...” he trailed off. As he struggled to form words, Anti noticed the dark blood on his face and how he was shivering in the thin clothes. It was too dark to tell if there was anymore bleeding, but Anti could imagine there was.
“What happened Jackie? Why are you here?” As much as he wanted to help, he had to be sure that it wasn’t a trick, after everything they had put Maya through he had to put her first.
“They said… that… that I be… betrayed them...” Jackie was becoming short of breath, and by the time he had stuttered out half a sentence, he was falling towards Anti.
Holding Jackie up, Anti thought about what he had said: they definitely wouldn’t take well to something they thought betrayed the family, and he was in a really bad way.
“Only for tonight.” He mumbled, as he dragged Jackie inside, laying him on the sofa and locking the door.
Whilst Jackie lay unconscious on the sofa, Anti knew that he should let Maya know, so he went through to her room, and poked his head around the door. She never slept with the door fully closed, she was scared someone would lock it, so there was no chance that he could wake her up by checking on her. And as he suspected, she was sat upright, awake as ever.
“Hey Pumpkin, you’re still awake?” Anti padded in and perched on her bed.
“Yeah, I had another nightmare, I dreamt they were all here, here to take me back.” Tears welled in her eyes, and Anti moved up the bed, pulling her into a hug.
“It’s okay pumpkin, they’re not here to take you back.” And here came the plaster. “But there is something I need to tell you. Jackie is here. They threw him out and he had nowhere else to go. I won’t let him hurt you, and he can go tomorrow if you want.” Maya nodded, but clung to Anti tighter.
“I trust you papa, I just don’t trust them.”
“I know you don’t, neither do I. So we’re going to be careful around him. I’m going to bandage him up, let him tell his story properly when he wakes up. We’ll talk it over, you have as much say as I do. If you’re not happy, then he goes straight away. Deal?”
“Deal.” They sat in silence for a "Papa?"
"Yeah pumpkin?"
"Could I come and see him?" Anti was slightly taken aback by the question, and Maya was mildly ashamed for asking it.
"Of course. We can go together if you would like?"
Maya nodded, and together they walked back to the living room where Jackie was still unconscious on the couch. After staring at him for a while, Maya spoke.
“He looks so small. So defenceless. He was so terrifying back there, what have they done to him?” Static buzzed in the air and Maya’s form became less stable.
“May? Are you okay?” Anti put a hand on her shoulder to tether her.
“Yeah, I just… yeah. Are you going to take care of him?”
“I’m going to do my best, but I don’t know what state he’s in. Would it make you feel better if I let you help?” Maya shook her head.
“No, no no, I don’t want to do that. I’m going to go to bed. Be careful papa.” She kissed his cheek and hugged him tightly before heading back to her bedroom, leaving Anti alone with Jackie.
“Right then, big bro, let’s see what they’ve done to you.” He grabbed the first aid kit from the kitchen and sat in front of the sofa.
First was his head. His face was covered in small cuts, but nothing to severe, except one large gash on his temple. Anti cleaned all of the cuts with antiseptic, and dressed the gash with some gauze.
Then was the rest of the damage they caused. Anti spent a few seconds finding a pulse before cutting Jackie’s shirt off.
In the brighter light of the living room it was clear to see the blood that had pooled in his shirt, and it peeling it away from the wounds was difficult.
The revealed chest and stomach was bad. There seemed to be small stab wounds, as if Henrik had gone at him with a scalpel, and bruises were blossoming, as if they had attacked him in a mob. He knew what that felt like, and he knew how long it took to heal.
Before moving to his legs, Anti got some clothes from his wardrobe. Carefully, he put Jackie into the black t-shirt, before he took the dirty joggers off.
Jackie's legs looked even worse than his torso, covered in small burns. He knew his brothers were cruel, but he at least thought they stuck together.
In the early hours of the morning he finished tending to Jackie's wounds, and left him asleep on the sofa until whatever drug they had given him wore off.
Only a few hours later Maya walked through, having woken up to go for a walk in the early morning quiet. She had almost forgotten that Jackie would be on the sofa, but she had expected him to be unconscious. Instead he was struggling to unwrap himself from the blanket Anti had draped over him. Maya thought about getting Anti, but she knew that even though he didn't need a lot of sleep, he still needed some. Then she thought about just leaving as she normally would. But that was cruel; when they drugged her it was a terrifying thing waiting for it to wear off, even more so when she was alone.
So there was only one thing she could do.
"Would you like some help Jackie?" His eyes darted over to Maya, and he nodded. Slowly, Maya pulled the blanket off him. "How are you feeling?"
“I… I don’t know...” Maya had never seen Jackie so scared; he was stuttering and shaking. “Are they going to kill me?”
“No. They’ll never come here, and if they do we won’t let them in.” Jackie still looked unsure, but Maya didn’t want to owe him any promises.
“Are you in pain? Papa bandaged you up last night but I don’t think he could check very well.”
Jackie shook his head. “No, no I’m okay. Thank you though, for being so nice. I’ve almost killed you before and then you’re here looking after me. You really are too good for this world Little Duck.” Maya froze at the name.
“You don’t ever call me that. Do you understand? If you stay here, you call me Maya. Not May, not Little Duck, not Pumpkin. Maya.” Maya turned and walked out of the room, walking straight into Anti.
“Is everything okay Pumpkin? I heard you shouting.” He looked panicked.
“Yeah, it’s okay, isn’t it Jackie?” Jackie nodded, staying silent.
“Okay Pumpkin. Are you headed out?” Maya nodded. “Okay then, be safe. I love you.” Anti planted a kiss on her forehead before she left.
“We are going to get one thing straight right now Jackie. She has as much say in whether you stay here as I do. If you try anything with her, or make her uncomfortable at all, I will personally deliver you right back to the mansion. Understand?”
“Understand.” Jackie whispered back.
“”Now that’s out of the way, how are you feeling? Any pain? I patched you up, but I don’t know if there’s any internal damage.”
“Yeah, erm… my head, that fucking wrecks, I guess they broke a few ribs, and everything waist down is feeling pretty fuzzy.”
“Fuzzy?” Anti questioned.
“Yeah, like they are covered with something, something really tight.”
“Okay. I’m going to take you to A&E once Maya gets back.”
“What? No! You can’t! You said you’d keep me safe, but he’ll be there, and he’ll kill me! He’ll kill me right then and there!” Jackie started to panic, but before he could try and stand up, Anti pushed him back down.
“Don’t worry Jackie, I’m going to take you to our local hospital, Henrik doesn’t work there. You’ll be safe.” Jackie calmed down somewhat, but seemed on edge until Maya got back.
Once at A&E, Anti had to explain what had happened to Jackie.
“He was drugged and beaten up.” didn’t seem to cut it, and the nurse on reception kept telling them that it was the duty of the hospital to get the police involved. Eventually Jackie told them that he already had people investigating it, and she let them sit down. Not that there was any point, they had barely sat when they were called through. Jackie’s condition must’ve been more serious than he thought if he was called in that quickly.
It was uncovered that he did have two broken ribs, but had managed to escape with no internal bleeding, and only a mild concussion.
The issue with his legs took much longer to solve, but eventually it was put down the the drug used on him, and he was told it should wear off within a few days as the drug removed itself from his system.
Back at home, Anti made lunch for the three of them, and they were ready to let Jackie tell the story.
“So Jackie, what happened?” Maya asked through a mouthful of pasta.
“They said that I betrayed the family. I guess I kind of did, but it wasn’t my fault!”
“We know it wasn’t Jackie,” Anti soothed, “But why don’t you tell us exactly what you did?”
“Okay… I gave Henrik’s pills in. It wasn’t my fault, I had a friend round from the force, and he saw them sitting on the desk in Henrik’s lab. I told him they weren’t mine, swore I was going to take them into the station for the amnesty the next day. So I had to, otherwise he would think I was lying. I was protecting Henrik! But then he found out, and he told the others, and they agreed with him. They said I had betrayed the family’s trust and they were going to make me pay. I thought I was going to die; I thought they were going to kill me. They were going to kill me, but I escaped.” Without thinking, Maya reached out and put her small hand on top of Jackie’s shaking one.
“And this is what they did to you. Tortured to be killed. At least there was an end in sight. I never had that privilege.” Anti spat. “Maya never had that privilege. Only you.”
“Papa, stop. I believe him, he deserves to feel safe.” Both men’s faces softened as she preached her peace.
“You really are too good for this family.” Jackie thanked.
“She really is.” Anti replied.

This is still coming this evening, but I may have gone very overboard with it ;)
The hero shows up at the villain’s doorstep one night. They’re shivering, bleeding, scared. There’s also a slightly dazed look in their eyes– they were drugged. They look like they were assaulted. Looking up at the villain, swaying slightly as they’re close to passing out, they mumble “…didn’t know where else to go…” then collapse into the villain’s arms.
