Hope
Summary: thoughts about hope.
pairing: Sirius Black x Sister!reader
A/N: This is the first time I'm posting something on here, so I'm open for feedback.
This drabble is based of an oc that I made up in my head while dozing off but this is the first time I wrote one out.
English is not my first language so I'm sorry in advance for any grammer mistakes.

'Why are you still doing his bidding?' he asked.
Sometimes I want to strangle him.
He doesn't understand. He will never know how it feels to be a woman in this world. In the family we grew up in. No. In the family I grew up in, the one that he abandoned.
'Do you think I have any other choice? Are you dense, Sirius?' It's a genuine question. He may have abandoned us but he still grew up with our customs. You don't grow out of those kinds of manners, no matter how much you try to deny your upbringing.
'You had another choice,' stupid, 'you could've run away with me.' I almost laughed. A loud and embarrassing laugh. One that would have gotten me in trouble if my parents were still around. One that would get me punished because of how unladylike it is. But I keep quiet and my face blank, one that I mastered after years of practicing.
"Run away with you? After you ignored my brother and me just because we were in a different house? Because we weren't brave enough? You never gave us a choice, not even on the night you left." He left without looking back to see if he hurt anyone—which he did, though I'd never admit that. I'll never give him the satisfaction of telling him he was right. The night he left, I still believed we could repair our relationship. Perhaps if we had talked, my brother and I would have left with him. But he didn't give us that chance, and there's no going back now. He took that piece of hope and belief with him the moment he started calling others his family, his siblings.
"Because I had lost all hope that the two of you would come with me. We had drifted so far apart that I thought it was a losing battle to convince you. I just wanted a better life." And that's just it, isn't it? Hope. A feeling that existed—and still exists—on both sides of the war. Two different kinds of hope that would split an entire world in two. It was simply a matter of who acted on it. Three siblings, each with their own hope. One acted by running away and creating a new life where his hope seemed possible. One suffered in silence, following the rules until he found a way to perhaps act on his hope—only to meet his end. And one pushed all hope away after witnessing what happened to those who dared to entertain such feelings.
