You clearly have a vague memory of being asleep, so how did you end up in a forest in the next moment? Not to mention, you don’t even remember how you got there. The temperature suddenly drops, and you feel someone, or something approaches you from behind. Something glows, and the glowing figure is hiding behind the tree, seeming to be inviting you to play with her. Her figure as beautiful as a distant memory in spring, and those of first snow fall. You have met the woman in white.

Who are you?

As night fell and the weather turns icy chilly, the ajar window was forgotten, and a soul seeps in between the crack into his vicinity. Shoji falls asleep but finds himself sitting on his couch wide awake with a glass of alcohol next to him. Uncertain if it’s a dream or reality, he notices a ghostly human figure tied with chains, and clothes torn in patches from wear emerges from the shadow. You have been visited by the ghost of vainglory. The ghost stares, and a few moments later, straightens an arm in front. With a slight tilt of its crooked hands towards you, the ghost signals you to follow. Will you follow? What will happen?

CHAPTER 02: A CHRISTMAS CAROL

It’s a cold, winter night a few weeks before Christmas. The first snow has begun, and people have taken the initiative to return home early since the weather has turned cold, leaving the streets empty. During this time of the year, ghosts, souls; however you wish to call them, have nowhere to belong and wander along the empty streets either seeking revenge, solace, or someone to fill up their loneliness. It’s the time of the year when these souls invade the dreams of the living during the wee hours of the night, which soul will seek for you? 

Welcome to our writing prompt #2 ! Every two weeks, we will have a writing prompt that aims to challenge your writing and your character(s)’ mindset about how they think in certain situations. I personally find that these prompts are very helpful in enhancing the relationship you are trying to build with another muse. 

To participate in this prompt, please send us an ask “Who are you?” and we will reply via the main with a one to two sentence vague description of what kind of soul you will meet ! After that, you are free to expand on the description and provide more in-depth description of who exactly did you meet (is it someone you know or a stranger?) ! The goal of this prompt is to lead your muse into a series of adventure, and you can choose to come out of it either scarred or enlightened from the encounter. 

You can be creative with this prompt! You don’t have to be alone. It could be a sleepover party where multiple muses are involved. If you are including multiple muses make sure to discuss with the mun beforehand and when you are ready send us an ask “Who are you? [ names of other muses involved ]”  There is no word-limit or minimum! As long as your muse learns something from the encounter then you have fulfilled the prompt! Also, if you don’t want to receive a ghost/soul but make up your own, please feel free! Just make sure to tag us so that we know you’ve done it ! :)

Some say “Goodbyes hurt most when you don’t get to say them”. Think of a time when your muse didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to someone (or another muse). The frustrations, fear or perhaps, happiness (if your muse is running away from someone or a situation etc.,) You are free to expand on this thought. Additionally, write about a new meeting ever since joining the directory of another muse ! Think about your first-impression of this person, how you met them, and what you anticipate your relationship with this other muse is going to be like !
