I'm so sad we got cheated out of this scene. one of his best angles in the manga and they just focused more on the phone than him

they proceeded to show many different angles of afo's body while sitting so it makes up for it a little but still... I wanted this particular scene :(

Yo! Are we really at the point that people are hating on AFO because…

“Well, Yoichi had the same childhood and he didn’t turnout like AFO, so, yeah, AFO doesn’t have an excuse.”

Like…guys…

Do yall have siblings? Are you all the same person? Do you all have the same values? ESPECIALLY if you and your siblings are adults?!

Nope. Nadda. We are all adults(over the age of 21) and my two younger siblings are vastly different people than me. Just because we had the same childhood environment doesn’t make it that we all have the same values and ended up the same. How you perceive your childhood has a lot to do with that.

Yoichi ended up different due to his perception of their reality during adolescence. Yoichi also didn’t have to care and protect them. AFO did that. His priority was keeping them alive.

AFO had a metapower(neither realizing Yoichi did too) and was treated incredibly poorly. The only time people ever looked at him was with disgust and fear. Of course, he’d relate more to the Demon King. He was already treated like he was inherently evil for his power. So, yeah, seeing that the Demon King had loyal followers because he’s evil would cause AFO to be more inclined to emulate him.

People can experience the same childhood environment and still end up vastly different.

EVEN WHEN TWINS. My god, identical twins with the same childhood can still be different people.

EDIT: and obviously this isn’t excusing AFO. He took on the Demon King persona and did terrible, awful things. But it is an explanation. It’s interesting to analyze villains and how they became one. It doesn’t mean AFO fans are excusing his behavior. It’s like people that love true crime stuff. You don’t make excuses for the monstrous human featured in them. But it’s entertaining to see how everything came together in that person’s life to make them the monster they are. And this is REAL and not FICTION! It also helps us see the signs early to hopefully stop something like what those people have done from happening again.

I’m still convinced that AFO despised All Might the most not because he made him go into hiding, broke down his underworld of power, or became the strongest OFA user at the time…

I believe it was the fact that running from All Might one night resulted in the loss of Yoichi’s hand which Horikoshi revealed.

I like to think that this happened prior to him planning Tenko’s birth and the big reason he went after Nana’s son to create Tomura was because he knew how much All Might loved her, especially since Yagi was there when he killed her and heard how upset he was.

“Oh, you made me lose my precious Yoichi’s hand? All I physically had left? Welp, guess I’m going to have to fuck with your beloved teacher’s(and probably mother figure) family and make a dramatic reveal 21 years later.”

(Plus, the fact we know that he held onto that hand for around 200 years…)
