Hiii, I hope all is well!! ♥ Is Wulfebound still active (in development) or on hiatus?
I was just wondering because I know a lot of IFs have been being dropped lately, so I like to ask writers BEFORE I inevitably fall in love with their work Lol. and I definitely think I'll like this. I frikkin love anything wolf related.
Hello! It's definitely still being developed. I'm writing/editing every day, I just can't seem to find the right place to stop! Chapter Two involves meeting Kit's family, so it's been very in-depth. I want to make sure there's enough choices for everyone (with the plus side being that I get to flesh out character interactions and explore some very interesting topics).
I appreciate all the kind words and support! I'm glad everyone wants a werewolf story as badly as I do. :)

How long have we been missing?
Hello! The true timeline will be answered in the next chapter, but I will say that it is far longer than Kit realized, and many things will never be the same. They have missed far too much.

Evening Author!
Loved what I've seen so far and can't wait for Chapter 2! I have a theory on what MC is but I'll keep that to myself for now.
Could we get some fun facts about Esme? Based on her description, I might just go down her romance path.
Hello! I’m always open to theories and comments, I love seeing what clues you guys pick up on.
I would love to share more about Esme! She’s the Lune of the Ridgeline: a witchling with connections to the ridge’s nature (that includes the wulfekind, the wildlife, and the weather). Unlike her brother, she will never lose her ability to channel magic, though she needs a tether to control its intensity unlike him. She used to dye her hair with bright blue streaks as a teenager, though it remains her natural color in the game’s time (for now, if Kit doesn’t have a say about it later on).
Next to Sam, she was one of Kit’s closest friends. She missed them more than words can express.

I'm very intrigued by the story. Going back to a place you called home and people you regarded as important now who you only see as the ones who abandoned you to a disgusting fate.
Omg the angst is gonna be insane. And I'm gonna love it. If my MC was previously very loving... nope fuck that they are changed now. It's quite a concept. Dealing with the aftermath of not just dealing with rejection and hiding your nature but now adding that betrayal and hurt ontop of it.
Hello! I absolutely have angst planned about that very topic.
There’s definitely a sense of betrayal and feeling left behind, in some sense, though you can choose how Kit chooses to take it. Anger, sadness, reclusiveness, or even pretending nothing happened. Characters will comment on mood changes, some more than others, and Kit can respond to any comments in their own way.

Man, I just realized if MC had trashed their head when biting the fake hand, they easily could have turned the fight around on their behalf even for a second by unbalancing Peter because prosthesis are usually attached to the body with straps and clasps, so they could have had an opening to break free. Poor thing. :(
But I am a bit confused over what he did to MC at the end: did he bite them like a wolf forcing another to submit, or like a vampire feeding from his victim? I actually thought he was a vampire due to his whisperings and strength.
Either way, I am totally gonna get him. >:/
Hello! That is very true about the prosthetic. A less desperate Kit could have escaped that grasp, perhaps. I think that’s a thought that could haunt them.
He did bite them, though I cannot say more than that. I love that you’re thinking vampire, though! That’s very interesting. He technically never was in wulfe form…

Lore drop? 👀
Hello! I would love to share some lore with you all, I have pages of it. Since you didn’t ask for anything specific…
Wulfebound takes place in Oak Ridge, Maine, which is a small northwestern town near the Canadian border. It’s the sort of town with only two streetlights and the bare minimum of necessities (post office, volunteer firehouse, a general store). There’s a school that covers all grades within one building, though students come from both Oak Ridge and their sister town, Eaglehead. There is some local acknowledgement of the existence of wulfekind, mostly passed through resident stories, though they remain hidden from the world as a whole.
There are two packs that share the territory: the Lavaud-Mazet family of the Ridgeline, and the Favre family of the Oakline. Kit has the opportunity to learn more of their wulfe neighbors later in the story, especially about the heir of the Favres.
Thank you for the chance to gush about lore! It's one of my favorite topics.

Hallo Idk if thi has been asked yet or is too spoilery but what exactly is MC? It was said they weren't a wulfe
Hello! They are not a wulfe, yes. Their true nature will be revealed in the next chapter, as well as the consequences of that very nature.
Thank you for asking though, and for playing the demo!

Hello! I'm amazed by the lovely feedback to the new update, I didn't expect it to go over this well. You're all so kind!
I am very much alive and in the thick of the next chapter. I wasn't sure where to cut the scenes in half, so I have a few thousand words of Chapter Two already written and edited. I'm intending to take advantage of the momentum as much as I can.
Thank you all for the support! I love seeing what you guys think.

can we have the save system turned on please? I hate having to restart when I realize I made a choice I don't like the full spectrum of.
Tumblr media
Sure thing! I was initially hesitant since I can't promise that saves won't be broken in case I have to change any initial coding later down the line. There are many significant choices, though, so I think saves will be nice.
I added five slots in the demo, so have fun!

The entirety of Chapter One has been uploaded! It clocks in at over 16,000 words, with the option to set your sanity level, take retribution against your captors, and choose your past relationship with Sam.
If there are any errors, feel free to send in a message! I would love some feedback.
You can play the update here.

i recently bought a few albums and one track made me immediately think of your IF.
Lyrics:
Afraid of the future, chained to the past No more complications, losing breath with every question you ask Am i right or wrong again?
Moments like lightning, gone before my eyes I know its oversimplification, but someone tell me when we lost the time? A setting sun, a waning moon
Lost in an instant, only to find, oh what shape have i become? Metamorphosis, fading in time, oh what shape have i become?
Living is twisted, living’s a lie Nothing more than a series of changes only seen with my own eyes Said it before i’ll say it again Can’t remove the blood stain
at the very least i hope you enjoyed it ^-^
Hello! I'm both surprised and touched that this song reminded you of Wulfebound, and I completely agree!
This song is so, so good. It's perfect, actually, I've kept it on repeat when I'm editing. I love the dark mood so much and the first few rifts hit the hardest.
And you're right! Kit's entire arc is grappling with the truth of the past chained to their neck, and trying to live in the moment as it continues to tighten its grip on them. They are a ghost of themself, really, and that can feel a lot like living a lie.
Thank you for the new little song recommendation! I love it. :)

I was tagged by @royal1asset-if to answer a few questions about one of my characters. Since he just made an appearance in the chapter I’m writing, I’m choosing Samson. :)
Relationship Status: Player-Dependent. He can either be single, single upon the start of the game/later romanced, or he can be an ex-lover for Kit. He also has some… past experiences with both Parisa and Ansel from his teenage years. Technically, he isn’t dating anyone when the game begins, though.
Favorite Color: Probably copper, sort of dark amber, a reddish-brown. Earth tones in general are his favored colors.
Favorite Food: He rarely takes the time to eat something, and never mind trying to savor it, but his mother’s potato pancakes - specifically kartoffelpuffer and homemade applesauce, a Lyness family recipe - are always an exception.
Song Stuck In His Head: Whatever song Addie had on repeat for the day. She has seasonal cycles in a handful of genres, but usually, it’s indie pop or something on the Billboard hits.
Last Thing He ‘Googled’: Wulfebound exists in a time just before Google was even invented, but he often does research for the pack using library archives and a private historical collection. So, it probably has something to do with local news. Maybe even something involving a certain long-missing shapeshifter.
Time: In the game, it’s early 1990, just barely springtime.
Dream Trip: He doesn’t particularly like traveling. No wulfe handles transportation very well (i.e. cars, buses, planes, etc) so long-distance trips are mentally taxing to his kind. Personally, he prefers staying around the Ridgeline and his pack more than anything else.
Last Thing He Read/Enjoyed Reading: The morning newspaper, most likely. It’s his job to be up to date on current events, after all. He also finds enjoyment in that. His little routine is sacred to him.
Favorite Thing to Cook/Bake: He doesn’t cook much, despite knowing how to, but he does enjoy cooking with his loved ones. He has many childhood memories of cooking with his parents, and he would often bake with Ansel and Parisa as a teamwork exercise. He still does both, on occasion.
Favorite Thing To Do In His Free Time: Checking in with the pack. It’s technically part of his job, but he does it because he cares. He loves dropping in on a history lesson with the pack’s kids, helping Addie prepare bait for a nightly hunt, and catching up with the locals at the pack’s diner.
Most Niche Dislike: The scent of raw meat, but only in his wulfe form. It bothers him less when he’s human.
Opinion On The Circus: Odd human quirk, bordering on downright abusive. He doesn’t like the bright colors, the loud sound effects, the extravagant music, or the animals they use for the show. He still winces when he thinks about the handful of kids’ birthday parties he attended with that theme.
Sense Of Direction: In the wilderness, he has a wulfe’s perfect intuition. As a human, he knows the town like the back of his hand in a way that only Ansel and Kit could relate to.

I was tagged by @royal1asset-if to pick 5 songs that represent my WIP, so thank you so much! Again, I don’t really have anyone to tag, so anyone is welcome to do so and tag me so I can see. :)
The Wolf by Foxworth Hall
I consider this to be Kit’s life anthem. The story’s central theme involves the burden of feeling hunted and constantly feeling the urge to return ‘home’ where they feel safe.
There's a wolf outside the door
And I'm in trouble
Every wolf I've seen before
I didn't last long
Sunrise come, and I better get going
I gotta get home and I better get going
And The World Was Gone by Snow Ghosts
Another anthem for Kit’s life up to the point of the demo’s timeline. The conflicted feelings of betrayal, longing and bitter acceptance are perfect for their mindset in Wulfebound.
I wish you felt me falling
I wish you'd watched over me
You said you'd wait forever, but I blink
And the world was gone
The Night We Met by Lord Huron
I consider this song to be for Kit and Samson, even if he isn’t romanced, if only because it reflects their history and eventual turbulent reunion so very well. These lines are my favorite:
I don't know what I'm supposed to do
Haunted by the ghost of you
Take me back to the night we met
Gilded Lily by Cults
This song is a good reflection of Kit’s journey as they readjust to society and its expectations for them, particularly with Ansel and the wulfe pack. Especially these lines:
Now I'm sleeping in the backyard
Passing out as light turns into day
Haven't I given enough, given enough?
Haven't I given enough, given enough?
As It Was by Hozier
There are some spoilers to avoid here, but I consider this to be a good song for the ROs and Kit, especially upon their return home. Especially the ‘otherness’ mentioned, and these lines, too:
Tell me if somehow, some of it remains
How long you would wait for me?
And how long I've been away
The shape that I'm in now, your shape in the doorway
Make your good love known to me

I was tagged to share the last line from my current WIP by @apollo-gate. Thank you so much! This is from nearly the end of the chapter. :)
If you have to run… except the leaves pull back, the sun blinding you from its halo over your intruder's shoulder, and a familiar face comes into view.
I don’t have anyone to tag, but if you’d like to do it for yourself, I would love to read it!

I'm really curious as to the spelling of the title. How come you chose to write wulfebound instead of wolf bound?👀📝
Hello! That is such a fascinating question to me, I love that you asked it. :)
To put it simply: I chose that spelling because a wolf shapeshifter in the IF is referred to as a ‘wulfe’. So it makes more sense for the title to be Wulfebound (and 'being wulfebound’ is an actual phenomenon in the game).
I chose ‘wulfe’ since it helps distinguish between actual in-game wolves (the animal) while also using the inspiration of Germanic mythology. So ‘wolf’ in Germanic equals ‘wulf’, and the extra ‘e’ at the end is a consequence of the term evolving over time and crossing borders.
As for why I didn’t simply use the word ‘werewolf’? I just think ‘wulfe’ is cooler. :)

ros love language (giving and receiving) please on my knees i need more infos, the demo left me starving (in a good way like getting ready for a feast type of starving)
Of course! I’m happy to give you all some crumbs in the meantime. :)
Ansel → Acts of Service (giving) & Quality Time (receiving). He lives to serve the ones he loves and shows it in every action: running errands, making meals, fussing over them, etc. He finds it particularly meaningful when someone spends time with him without demanding him to settle a squabble or perform typical Alpha duties. It makes him feel less like a figurehead of the Ridgeline, and more like a regular person.
Esme → Receiving Gifts (giving) & Words of Affirmation (receiving). As a Luneblood, she can forge magical crafts and runes that grant specific benefits, so she will give her beloved ones runes to keep them healthy, happy, strong, and protected. In return, it means the world to her to hear how much she is loved and appreciated. It will brighten her spirits without fail.
Addie → Quality Time (giving) & Physical Touch (receiving). She will always find an excuse to spend time with her loved ones to make them feel as cherished as she can, especially as her Huntspeaker duties demand more of her attention. Any wulfe in general enjoys physical acts of affection, yet she enjoys it most when it comes from someone she trusts and adores completely. A hug, a kiss on the cheek, holding hands, or simply laying side-by-side to bask in each other’s presence.
Parisa → Quality Time (giving) & Acts of Service (receiving). Like Ansel, she has little time beyond her Wulfehand responsibilities. Spending time with the people she loves, the people she works so hard to provide for and protect, is the only way she can make the weight of the Ridgeline worth it. She is burdened by her duties, and so it means more than she can express to have someone perform tasks for her, instead. Whether it’s a fresh cup of tea left by her desk or household chores, she appreciates every gesture fiercely.
Samson → Acts of Service (giving) & Words of Affirmation (receiving). He is the Wulfeheart; it is in his nature to serve the people he loves. He enjoys running errands and completing chores to help his loved ones. If you need something to get done, he will move Heaven and Earth to complete it. All he really needs in return to feel loved is a few words of appreciation.
