the problem with addiction is not that it's pleasurable. it's not "having too much fun" disease. it's not even a requirement for addiction that you have fun at any point in the process at all and to be honest it is incredibly common that no pleasure is gained from substance use. imagining that addiction is about pleasure does two things: 1) demonises feeling good (there is nothing wrong with wanting to be happy/comfortable/etc), and 2) frames addicts as people who Like Having Fun Too Much. it's simply not useful to frame things this way as well as just fundamentally not being true

Meeting genuine adults that think legal = good, illegal = bad is so bizarre, like bro not even the law itself agrees that that is a good ethical framework

the thing about labubus to me is that i genuinely do think the design is appealing and i love things that are uglycute and if they were lowkey or more niche i think it would be super cute to have one. but the fact that they are mainstream and trendy sucks all of the fun out of it for me

i fear posting too much about my aromanticism may stunt me in pulling people. my disclaimer i am idly open to but not necessarily actively seeking out such close relationships (i have a partner) (neither of us are monogamous) ifyoy have a crush on me dont be afraid to tell me (but also dotn think youll make things weirtd if i turn you down) (you wont) (i am just really specific in who i want that close intimateness with) ("how are you aromantic with a partner" "and polyamorous" its like how an animal has a mate. its also a conscious decision i make. and its nuanced)

hello disabled person who is dithering about whether or not to ask for a certain accommodation because you could "technically survive without it". that is the devil talking. you are allowed to demand more than "technically surviving". the world is a shitty ableist place, but if you have the chance to have your needs met in any tiny way you are allowed to take it. and yes, it's still a need even if you can kind of almost technically mostly survive without it
