I kiss horses. I remember when I was in high school I had the biggest crush on a boy named, Jeremy. For a brief moment in time (maybe a few days) I even got to call him my boyfriend. That all came to a screeching halt when he leaned in to give me a kiss at the buses one day to say good bye and I quickly put my school books up in front of my face. All I could think to say was “I only kiss horses.” Needless to say...whether I meant to say “I have only ever kissed my horse” really doesn’t matter because within the hour I was no longer his girlfriend. Dumped, oh the tragedy and the heartbreak. There is no other place that I would rather be. This is where I am whole. Centered in all ways. I need horses like birds need air. Without them I am caged in more ways than understandable to most. Boléro just turned 3, he did outstanding today! We made it all the way to the river and back home and had a wonderful time doing so! Today these chaps got into a little cactus...that’s what happens if your chaps that are worn by me. 🌻She’s her daddy’s pride and joy, the boy he never had. 🌻She’s out checking calves and pitching out hay, all by the crack of day. 🌻And as the sun sheds light on those sunflower chaps, she smiles. 🌻And her daddy knows she won’t be back for quite awhile. 🌻You see those sunflowers and chaps, they aren’t just decoration, they guide her through life in the right direction. 🌻Like the sunflower whose face looks towards the sun, she too looks above and chases Gods most perfect son. 🌻Her glory is his glory, it’s strong and true and good. 🌻Like the sunflower she won’t stop chasing the sun until she feels her work is done. 🌻And all the while her daddy will watch with pride as those sunflower chaps ride by. As we visited and she listened, together we designed the perfect hat. Everything handcrafted, the hat band cut, stamped and hand-stitched. A buffalo coin (a symbol of the American spirit and a reminder of a good dog long gone), a piece of turquoise (a symbol of feminine energy, creativity, good luck and intuition), a shard of black onyx (believed to transform negative energy and offers strength during times of stress, grief or confusion), the master of all healing crystals a piece of quartz crystal, a shard of amethyst (a symbol of peace that offers those around it, calmness), a single turkey feather to symbolize the wildness of the earth (a wildness that man will never be able to control,) and porcupine quills (a reminder to face your weakness, do what you must to protect yourself from anything or anyone that wishes you harm. One man’s is weed is another man’s salad, or infused oil, or bread, or 🧁 or salve. These dandelions have been washed and are now soaking in olive oil. The infused oil will be used for a salad dressing. The majority of the oil will be mixed with coconut oil and bees wax to make a hand salve. Dandelions are the first to bloom in the spring and last to go dormant in the winter. They’re also known as “Fairy Clocks” because they open with the first sunlight and close up in the evening. The sweet little flower symbolizes love, wishes, welcome, faithfulness and the sun. It provides bees and insects their first bits of nourishment after a long winter when other plants cannot bloom.
