oh look yet another extremely ableist post that tries to moralize not giving a single fuck about some people's actual triggers for things like PTSD, OCD, and a host of other dissociative disorders which many people who want to be social unfortunately suffer from and thus it makes being around others extremely difficult. god forbid we have a single ounce of compassion for these people who risk being sent into hours long destructive breakdowns by random uncaring Tumblr users.
no no, your sense of inconvenience is truly the thing being impugned here.
"READ MY DNI" no. use your block button like an adult. i'm not scrolling through the many-paragraphs-long pinned posts of every blog i reblog something from. if you insist certain types of people aren't welcome in the notes of your posts then it's your responsibility to curate that. or choose a closed social media platform like facebook or instagram. or go and live in a barn away from humanity if you really don't like sharing the world with people who are different from you

goblin.camp is actually a decently faithful Tumblr clone. if you are looking for one I highly suggest giving this one a try.
The problem with a lot of attempts to create federated social media platforms is that they talk about building decentralised communities, then turn around and adopt models of social media which are, at a structural and intentional level, hostile to both decentralisation and community-building.
They're caught in this horrible trap where they have to make it work like X/Twitter to leverage people's existing familiarity, but the X/Twitter model by design fosters "communities" consisting of large audiences of passive content consumers whose participation is oriented around following a tiny core of mega-popular content producers, which is fundamentally opposed literally all of their stated goals. It's great for monetisation, of course, but if advertiser-driven monetisation isn't part of our game plan, what the fuck are we even doing here?
You know why it's so hard to find a satisfactory alternative to something like Tumblr? A big part of it is because Tumblr is one of the only major social media platforms that isn't structurally hostile to people just talking to one another.

also, can we talk about how important it was, in and out of universe, that Mon Mothma calls what was done to the Ghormans a genocide

MY GOD . It's like they googled, "Most offensive and traumatic way to kill a fictional lesbian" Results came up with Tara and Lexa and they went 'ok sounds good' Like come on, we knew they were going to die. That had been pretty much accepted. It was going to have nothing to do with them being gay. They were amongst many rebels sacrificing for a cause. The writers essentially had a free pass with an 'everyone dies' prequel to an 'everyone dies movie'
How badly do you have to Fck up to then replicate the 'bury your gays trope' so precisely. reunion✅ , Happiness ✅ Post-intimacy ✅ Stray bullet ✅.
It's indefensible, especially on a show with such critically acclaimed writing as Andor. Instead they've well and truly cemented 'Stray Bullet Sapphics'

For 2 years, I’ve been trying to entice my lesbian friend to watch Andor by telling her there are lesbians in it, but now

great to know andor is forever a show I can no longer recommend because of its bigotry
it really goes to show why marginalized folks have always criticized the "no war but the class war" line because even the most leftist white man writer on the planet will still hate brown people and hate queers

posts like these are hilarious. god forbid some people try what they can to preserve the community instead of just lay here and rot.
"how foolish of these posters. I am the enlightened one who will sit here and wait for a transphobic tech bro to shoot me in the back of the head."
when tumblr shutdown scares happen and everyone starts promoting sites that are way worse and shut down quicker

I really like tumblr vibes. been here since 2012. but I'm also fully aware that tumblrs vibes are the reason this websites community is going to die here with tumblr.
tumblr is populated by useless disaffected queers who would rather lay here and get run over by a steamroller driven by matt than actually get up and do anything to preserve their community.
cohost was a perfectly viable alternative. as was pillowfort. but that would involve tumblr users doing anything useful ever besides bitching about the most inconsequential bullshit possible.

people need to understand that moral scrupulosity is a desired outcome of most major religions. it is how they control you when they're not around. by traumatizing your brain enough that it will obsessively do the policing for them.
coming to understand this fact changed my entire life and helped me understand what these maddening "fits" I would regularly have every single day were even long after I left my cult upbringing behind. obsessing about the morality and purity of yourself and others is a major sign of ocd and you should absolutely be aware of it. if it sounds like a lot of people on this website? that's not a coincidence. it's built into the framework of most of the major world religions we all grow up being bathed in the radiation of directly or indirectly. it is in our very culture.
i genuinely think ocd is incredibly underdiagnosed bc i will see people posting what are obvious rituals, compulsions, intrusive thoughts, spiralling, hyper morality, etc and its like Have You Considered This Might Be An Issue

I don't care if June is canon now hs2 is canonically violently transphobic and deeply fetishizing of abuse and put multiple trans people into fascist oppressor positions because they thought it was funny.
I don't care how hard James Roach tries to rehab it. The well is poisoned and it will literally never not be what it is. Stop pretending V's disgusting writing is anything but what it is.
