quick question:

lets say a monster has cornered you. (the handsomeness of the monster is up to you.) for the sake of this poll let's say this monster has two or more eyes and let's say your surroundings are dark but the light is reflecting off the backs of the monster's eyes (tapetum lucidum) such that you can see the monster's irises and pupils (sclera size and visibility are up to you).

let's also say this monster is taller than you and has a much larger body and is looking down at you at a 45 degree angle and their face is about two feet away along this diagonal. you are making eye contact.

ok my question is, is it more threatening to see the monster's pupils suddenly narrow to thinner slits or to see them dilate to a wider shape? as in, which would be more likely to make you believe the monster is about to act? (the intentions of the monster are up to you)
