Hello everyone!

We’re excited to announce that we’re working on a new project called UniiStars, which we hope to adapt into a cartoon and release on YouTube! As part of this project, we have a main cast that we’d love to introduce. We’re looking for help with this endeavor, so if you’re an animator, are willing to help with costume design, or just an artist in general, we’d love to hear from you! In the future, we’ll also be looking for voice actors, but not just yet. If you’re interested, please follow the blog to stay updated!

Right now, we’re okay for writers, but if we need anything in the future, I’ll post about it here.

Here’s a rundown of some of our characters:

Regan is this very extroverted, happy-go-lucky girl. With an overactive imagination, she often gets lost in her own little world— she likes to pretend she’s a princess. She doesn’t need a reason; she just enjoys the fantasy. Regan is incredibly supportive and always there for her friends.

Benjamin is one of the main characters, along with Regan. He is very nerdy and chatty. He’s not the stereotypical shy guy, but he’s very awkward, so he’s not great at expressing it. He has a passion for linguistics and loves translating things. While he enjoys all subjects, linguistics is what he specializes in. He’s also very clumsy, and sometimes he can embarrass himself without meaning to.

This alien girl has an otherworldly charm and exudes a calm and slightly detached demeanor. She often seems lost in thought or caught up in the vastness of her own mind. While she may come across as a bit spacey, she possesses a unique insight that sets her apart, processing the world in a way that’s distinctly her own.

Abigail is Regan’s goth roommate who studies forensic science. With her dark, unbothered vibe, she comes across as a bit gloomy, but there’s more to her than meets the eye. While she might seem distant to some, Abigail is a great friend, especially to Regan. She’s one of the few who can truly appreciate Regan’s quirks without getting annoyed.

Elijah comes off as super chill and laid-back, but he’s got a flirty side that makes him fun to be around. He loves to party and enjoy life, often seen with a drink in hand and a charming smile. Despite his carefree vibe, he’s a genuinely nice guy who cares about his friends. He also has this princely aura about him that adds to his charm. But behind that easygoing exterior, he comes from a pretty strict background, which gives him a bit more depth than you might expect.

Lila is a bit of a mystery, but she studies politics, a subject she’s really passionate about. She can be a little nerdy, but not overly—she just really cares about her studies. Lila has a sarcastic edge and is a bit shy, but not overly so; she’s just more reserved in social situations. When she likes someone, she’s surprisingly forward about it.

This is my current work in progress and is definitely my most ambitious piece so far. It has taken me two weeks to get this far. It is mixed media on A1 mixed media paper.

Another Coraline Chris Riddell copy. I’m really happy with the shine on the hair I think my line work has resulted in a somewhat realistic finish to a cartoon style picture.

This is one of my most recent acrylic paintings. It was another experimentation of skin and adding those abstract layers of colour helped when capturing light and shadows.

This was a commission I did for a friend. It is gouache on watercolour paper. I started this piece with a green under painting and added neutral tones over the top. It took a lot of blending to get a smooth complexion for the finish. The background is wet in wet gouache to create the seamlessly blended tones for the galaxy effect.

This is a mixed media portrait. It consists of watercolour, gouache and fine liner. I started this piece worth a yellow under painting to bring out the yellow highlights in the reference photo. I then added thicker layers of neutral tones and then finally defining the face with fine liner.

Here’s another piece based on Coraline for my graphic illustration project. It is a copy of one of Chris Riddell’s illustrations. This piece took over a day due to the intimacy of the line work which I wasn’t used to.

This was an oil painting I did for my graphic illustration portfolio. I used oil to paint Coraline herself and I then went out and bought loads of buttons to decorate the background.

This is one of my favourite children’s illustration pieces so far.
