the velvet mites i see around here are very variable in size and i never know what i'm gonna get. here's one of the largest i've seen (Allothrombium sp.) making its way up a wall. it almost looks like a real animal and not a single-celled organism

Another leafhopper to check off the species list: Tylozygus bifidus! Like a lot of leafhoppers, these guys are small-to-tiny in real life and blend in well with all kinds of plants. I love catching a glimpse of these striped beauties when I stop and smell the roses!
