I get that Dawn is in some ways a mirror of Buffy (just like Cordelia and Drusilla and Faith and-) but she’s such a Character outside of the constraining narrative role she’s forced into. Had an existential crisis and burnt all her diaries in a trash can indoors. Number 1# mom cuddler. Seen as innocent and pure but knows about the most fucked up fun facts imaginable. Her grieving process includes necromancy. Killed her first crush. Is left alone in the house and starts playing with an axe in the dark. Willing and able to make friends with weird outcasts. Pushed a guy down the stairs and showed zero remorse. Was specifically CREATED to be innocent and pure so the slayer would protect her and yet she immediately started shoplifting

you have to release yourself from the pressure of writing Blorbo from Your Shows in your fics because that's literally impossible. instead you are writing Your Portrayal of Blorbo. everyone has different interpretations and headcanons and focuses on different things when writing characters and that's beautiful.
