Mental Crop Rotation
When farmers grow the same crop too many years in a row, it can leave their soil depleted of minerals and other nutrients that are vital to the health of their fields.
To avoid this, farmers will often alternate the crops that they grow because some plants will use up different minerals (such as nitrogen) while other plants replenish those minerals. This process is known as “crop rotation.”
So the next time you find that you need to step away from a project to work on something else for a while, don’t beat yourself up for “quitting” that project. Give yourself permission to practice “mental crop rotation” to maintain a healthy brain field.
Because I’ve found that when that unnecessary guilt and pressure are removed from the process, a good mental crop rotation can help you feel more energized and invigorated than ever once you’re ready to rotate back to that project.

Yesterday, I joined a new Cyberpunk discord, a Johnny-centric server that, as far as I could tell, has only been around for a few weeks. I requested an invite from one of the mods after a friend of mine talked about it, and I was given one. I joined the server, wrote my introduction, said hello and was warmly welcomed by a few people and a very enthusiastic bot. It seemed like a good place, active, lots of lore discussion, just the sort of place that might have helped me get back into my writing.
Less than two hours after joining, I was kicked. No one told me why. No one messaged me to let me know. I was just gone. I know from friends who are still on that server that they deleted all my posts. Like I was never there at all.
I’ve for sure made mistakes in my interactions in this fandom. I get excited about things and can come off as abrasive. I’ve not always expressed myself in the best way in discussions, but I have never intentionally hurt anyone, and I’ve never shied away from accountability. More importantly, I didn’t have time to make any of those mistakes yesterday. If anyone reading this happens to know what it is I’ve been accused of, I’d love to know so I can address it.
There are a few individuals in the Cyberpunk fandom who seem to have made it their mission to make sure I’m excluded from as many fandom spaces as they can manage. This is not conjecture on my part. I’ve been reliably informed that about a year ago, there were discussions on a private server for moderators from various Cyberpunk discords about how to get me banned from the servers I was a member of at the time.
So what happened yesterday? Since no one talked to me, I can’t be absolutely sure, but my guess is one of those people who’d like to see me erased from this fandom convinced them to kick me, without due process. Without being told what I’d done to warrant it. The mod I requested the invite from on Tumblr blocked me, so I couldn’t ask. But apparently, someone out there has managed to convince a lot of people that I’m the literal antichrist or something.
I’m not trying to start drama, which is why I’m not naming any names, but I think it’s important that people know this kind of thing is going on. This fandom should be better than that. We should be able to confront people with their mistakes and work out our problems like adults.

it’s okay to take breaks. it’s okay to not be giving 100% all the time. i think the saying goes: “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” take care of yourself first. i don’t care if you take one or fifty breaks. take as many as you need. the world will wait.

So I work at a video game store in a mall and across the hall from us is this really nice suit shop. One day one of the guys came in an asked if they could use our microwave (the store they used to go to closed down) and we bargined for use of their bathroom in return since the mall bathrooms are like a 5 min trek.
So for like three months now we just have these men in really nice suits come in and talk while using our microwave and teach them about nerdy shit? Then I, the goblin king in various shitty tee shirts and paint stained pants, walk into their super expensive store and just get greeted with “Yo dude what’s good?” and talk about the pains of steaming silken dress shirts properly and it’s my favorite business interaction every day

Thank you for your hard work! I love you ❤️❤️❤️
Be Kind to your Discord Mods
We’re doing the best we can, we don’t get paid to do what we do. We often work full time jobs and are checking our phones over lunch to make sure things are running smoothly. The servers interrupt our family dinners and can de-rail our weekends. I have literally invested hundreds of hours into my servers, money, and time. The same goes for my team that works with me. We have taught ourselves Discord, and the random issues that come along with it. We have learnt bots, and code, that isn’t relevant to our day to day jobs. We are constantly discussing how to make things better, and bigger, and more fun and engaging for the community behind the scenes. We worry endlessly that you’re safe, and you feel loved. We notice when you’re not around, and we hope that you’re okay. Quite honestly it can become a second family, and I can’t overstate how invested we are. If you enjoy the environments we’ve created, the least you can do is be kind. They’re like a garden, they require a lot of tending to.
