From what I can see with how much he low key nags Pearson for that stew, so I think something beefy and rich would be his jam.

(Totally not biased) I believe I would cook for him pozole, which is essentially a pork stew with a flavorful broth full of spices. It’s so bomb and personally I think he’d love it…

which au do you think you’d like to see bill in the most?

I don’t really know tbh…I’d say the closest choice i’d pick would be modern terms, closely to today’s age and society.

Modern in terms of today because I think Bill in a world like today, which is a lot more open and accepting, would be something really interesting. I think while he would still be more internally hated towards himself, I think he could feel a sense of comfortability in a world outside of the traditional views to find someone similar to him or someone he could depend and trust on maybe.

what do you think bill’s most prominent feature when it comes to his personality is?

Personally, I think Bill’s most prominent feature is his beard.

I don’t really think I could ever see Bill without a beard, it doesn’t feel right and in a sense I feel like it adds to who he is…

A shell of a boy he used to be, of a soldier he once was in a way to be seen as a man, a strong one and that is dependable on, yknow?

what do you think bills childhood was like?

I think Bill’s childhood definitely was the opposite of something pure.

Bill mentions during one of his stories around the fire his father, an alcoholic, often forgetting things when he was losing his train of thought. This moment really stuck out to me and sparked a lot of theories of what exactly went down in Bill’s childhood and if it contributed towards his attitude and future morals.

Short answer, yes most likely. Considering the time period already, it’s known that a lot of fathers (let alone men) had very traditional views on making sure either they’re considered men by society or/and making sure their sons are, too. I think most likely what occurred during Bill’s childhood was a lot of neglect inflicted on by his father. Based alone on how angry Bill acts, being an alcoholic, and has a desperation to be seen as strong and a man, I believe a lot of it comes as a trauma response with what his father inflicted on him. I believe a lot of his childhood was berating and nitpicking for doing things that would be seen as too weak, too woman like.

Going back to Bill’s father forgetting things, I believe Bill also has a fear to not be left in the dust, to make sure he stands out and is praised for any of his doings. I believe his father often forget much a lot about Bill, while also just not acknowledging him and being a proper father to Bill.

I think it also plays out with how Bill acts towards Dutch. He’s very dependent on Dutch, considering that he had taken in Bill when he was at his lowest when the army discharged him, and seemed to genuinely care for Bill. He is willing to do almost anything to make sure Dutch praises him or acknowledges him, which I believe in a response to daddy issues from his childhood.

Overall, I think his childhood did impact him a lot and did hint at a misguided childhood, taught morals that were wrong and the way he’s been treated unfortunately being reflected back. Bill seems to also realize himself he’s similar to his father, with his drinking and possibly his anger and views. Def very much has daddy issues.

arthur’s sa and bills reaction to it

this may be a little overzealous for a first post but who cares- one of the biggest complaints i see about bill williamson is his reaction to the stranger encounter in which arthur gets sa’d by sonny. i believe that many people misunderstand this scene and use it to pass judgement onto a complex and morally grey character- here’s why:

many people like to say that bill laughed at arthur for getting sa’d but this is just not true. based on how bill was speaking about the situation it seems like he was under the impression that what happened between sonny and arthur was consensual- i really don’t think for a second that bill wouldn’t have put a slug in sonny if he knew the full extent of the situation. bill was loyal to the gang and to arthur, i doubt he would have let something like that slide. next is his reaction to micah’s commeng about the girls in the camp being useless, micah makes a comment about forcing himself onto the women and bill responds “i’m sure you’ve tried�� with obvious disdain. it just doesn’t make much sense how he’s react one way with arthur and another with micah who he is arguably closer with.

i think a lot of bill’s mischaracterization stems from what he became in red dead redemption one. people focus on what he became rather than how he became who he was. i genuinely just get frustrated when i see people bring that up when anyone expresses any kind of fondness towards bill. then again, people usually hear something once then run with it so hopefully this can help some people understand where i’m coming from.
