updated final ranking/analysis!! Compared to previous seasons, there was definitely a “music video - traditional set” spectrum for this mega crew mission which is fascinating.
5. rhtokyo
i understand and agree with the criticism that this is basically music video. it didn’t feel very mega crew until the end, and even then there were some shots that were more cinematically focused than dance focused. (eg the section rie hata is like sped up and runs to two different pods) Rie hata can direct for sure, but this felt like a commercial to me. i was expecting the nike logo or something to pop out at the end a little bit lmao.
4. ag squad
now that i watched it again, it feels kinda empty? like the dancing when its on full display is great (kaleece and kyra/ruthy baby’s tutting section?? stop playin with her fr), but a lot of the video is them transitioning between locations. like danica and vanessa’s sections didn’t show their full capabilities as dancers, but aaliyahs section was so lively. the energy level kept flucuating to me idk. however, for the cultural component i think they were one of the most creative.
3. osaka ojo gang
Tumblr media
yeah idk what i was thinking originally, but this was one of my favorites. 1) super strong opening, the formations were INCREDIBLE; they utilized multiple levels and the way dancers were weaving in and out of lines was really creative. 2) there was a spotlight moment where each member got to freestyle which was nice. 3) everything was hella synchronized. 4) the high-angle section that symbolized cherry blossoms was so stunning. 5) twice’s presence was dynamic and didn’t feel as forced as i thought it might. (when momo and hana came on screen, it felt like the superbowl i was CHEERING) Also i think their set was the most like a traditional crew set alongside bumsup (minimal blocking for camera work).
2. bumsup
why they lowkey give me goosebump omg. their high-angle section was the strongest by far. So intricate it’s amazing how they were able to perfect that in a month. honey j would be such a great movement coach — in this set and her s1 set, she was able to convey such specific moods with how her dancers sway and contort themselves. i didn’t love some of the spotlight moments (leejungs for example), but they helped tell the story. THEY BROUGHT BACK BADA. for that i owe them my life.
personally, I like the vibe of ojos set more, but this was such a massive feat to undertake and they executed it well.
1. motiv
i will disclose im a little biased towards this video bc i am a black person living in america. where we are currently experiencing the end times. but the premise of the theme is so simple and sharp: art as a form resistance. like each section is a glimpse into some aspect of hip hop culture (breaking, battling, cyphering). and as you progress to the end, the formations and choreo emphasize community and interdependence. showcasing art as resistance, a source of healing, and a voice to the oppressed. the red/blue flashing sequence into fantaye’s running section? yeah. like marlee made a whole concept video about american identity and counterculture which i appreciate her for doing. i would consider her the best director of the bunch.

This post is a bit different from what I usually share here, but I can’t stay silent in the face of the crisis unfolding within my Latino community and among other immigrant communities. The Trump administration’s surge in ICE raids demands our attention and action.
The recent ICE raids taking place across the country are deeply disturbing, unethical, unlawful, and inhumane. These actions include the use of violence, the disruption of legal proceedings, and the detainment of immigrants who are lawfully seeking asylum and going through proper legal channels to secure citizenship in this country. Denying individuals their right to due process goes against the very principles this country claims to uphold.
I urge you to contact your local representatives and demand they take a stand against the Trump administration’s immigration policies and the violent, unconstitutional actions of ICE. What’s happening is not only morally wrong, it’s a fucking betrayal of the values and legal protections that should be guaranteed to everyone in this country, and it is a dangerous precedent to set that people who are not citizens of this country but are in this country have no rights at all.
If you see an ICE raid or see your neighbors or members of your community being questioned or attempted to be taken to be detained, stand as a witness. Record. Serve as an observer. Take down names and license plates, badge numbers, anything. Offer to serve as a legal observer for your community members - literally anything to give them a chance.

SCRIPT FOR WRITING YOUR OFFICIALS UNDER THE CUT
Dear [official name],
I am writing to urge you to reject the proposed budget moving through the reconciliation process that would prioritize mass deportations and jailing of immigrants over critical investments in families and communities. The $350 billion proposed budget for militarized enforcement and mass deportations would tear families apart while slashing essential programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and student aid that millions of people rely on.
Instead of investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, this budget would fund immigration raids in schools, churches, and hospitals — creating fear and instability in our communities. It would also fund the deportation of DACA recipients, farmworkers, and childcare providers, which would devastate local economies and harm businesses.
As your constituent, I urge you to reject this proposal and instead pass a budget that invests in strengthening our communities — one that provides stable support and childcare for working families, expands early childhood education, creates affording housing, and increases access to health care. Our tax dollars should build opportunity, not fund family separation.
Please stand against this harmful budget and instead fight for policies that support families, strengthen local economies, and ensure everyone has the resources to thrive.
Your Constituent,
[Your Name]
