    the boy only laughs. he knows he has a better chance      of outrunning the little fella. he knew all sorts of little short-      cuts, PLUS he had his size difference to work for him. with      longer strides, he was able to keep a good distance away      from the puppy that was bounding behind him.

  “Albert—?” he looked back and forth between his fellow newsie and the street and started to smile. "Okay—do that. I promise I won’t tell. What’d ya do, anyways?” he asked on second thought.

    he pushes past crutchie, no doubtedly almost knocking      him over. hopefully didn't, but albert couldn't just let specs      catch him! he listens carefully as specs rolls up, unaware       of where the teenage child is hiding. the newsie bites his      lip in order to suppress a laugh. only when he feels that it      is completely safe, he jumps out, leaping over the stack of      crate with ease.

      ❝ thanks for coverin' for me !              really, i probably owe ya one now. ❞

    albert then tucked the pair of specs (no pun intended)       away into his pocket. he pats his friend's shoulder, taking      brief glances around to make sure everything really was      safe.

    he removes his hat, quickly running his hand through his     hair. he nearly forgot to take off the raggedy piece of clothing.     albert really did try his best to be polite; to the people who     deserved to be treated as such of course.
