i call for you in the twilight,

tears illuminated by the moonlight

but you never come.

i write you letters,

paragraphs and novels in the stars,

constellations twinkling to get your attention,

but you never come.

i was but a wanderer who had finally found a home

so accustomed to your brilliant blue eyes,

the smell of your hair after showers,

the taste of your lips against mine,

the feeling of your fingertips grazing my skin,

and the sound of your persistent “i love you”’s

i was but a wanderer so accustomed to the comforts of my new home

that i never realized when i lost it

tears became oceans,

each wave strangling my fragile throat

constellations were set ablaze and the sky was left dumbfounded,

having never seen such heartbreak

and still,

i call for you in the twilight,
