this is a very important thing to share, in the current climate of the US transphobia related murders, hate crimes and assaults will unfortunately be more common I believe, Jonathan was also Indigenous so it was a racially motivated hate crime as well as a transphobia/homophobia related one. Actor Jonathan Joss was just murdered for being gay and married to a trans man. On the first day of pride 2025. He was best known for playing John Redcorn on King of the Hill.

I had no idea he was gay but he was married to a man named Tristan Kern de Gonzales (on valentines day 2025!)

They lived in San Antonio Texas where his family is from and he grew up. He was 59.

In Janurary 2025 his home was burned down which made news. It killed some of his beloved dogs. He didnt elaborate beyond he believed it was arson (gofundme is still up and i suggest donating to help his funeral costs and his husband

As they weeped and mourned in shock, a neighbor, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, came out and aimed at de Gonzales…but Joss jumped in front of the bullet and was instantly killed.

Ceja, homophobia murdering coward, tried to take off but de Gonzales had called pigs who vaguely tried to do something. He was arrested and his bail set for $200k. Or as my sister said who the fuck sets bail for a murderer?

i wish people understood the phenomenon of transphobic/transmisognistic abusers portraying trans women as this evil scary threat to nature and trans men as soft misguided "women" who need to be corrected and are victims of transgender ideology and how despite both rhetoric being rooted in transphobia, one is way more severe and still prevalent even among queer spaces.

i wish people didn't downplay how malicious transmisogyny is, not only is it a tool transphobes and terfs use to infiltrate our spaces, but it's a tool that can literally kill the girls in our community. socially isolate them and kill them. and it's disappointing seeing other trans people especially people like me downplay such things and the severity of it when I cannot think of a single transfem mutual of mine who hasn't dealt with this shit online. not one.

i feel like "we are faggots they're trying to kill us" is in the right direction towards general assimilist queer discourse but I hate how it's used to shut up trans women and racialized queers for explaining the layers of oppression within the community that is still displayed subconsciously or not.

i think representation does matter IDC how corny I sound the amount of trans women who have been telling me that Hitomi actually makes them feel seen and better about their body for the first makes me want to cry. I'm not the perfect beacon of transgender rep but I want my characters to feel authentic and real and not a perfect idea of what trans people look like.
