PART SIX of my Cookie Run Kingdom swap AU (i really need a name for this)

all of the previous posts in this series, i highly recommend reading them for this, or at least the final one. however, you can probably put the pieces together yourself without that context.

WARNING: ENORMOUS WALL OF TEXT BELOW THE CUT!

so, as established, Wizard Cookie takes the place of White Lily Cookie here, the two becoming Dairy Archmage Cookie and Sage Cookie, respectively. and, if you've been paying attention, you'd know that a certain someone takes the place of Dark Enchantress Cookie in this AU. someone that's been mentioned quite a bit in this series, although i've kept their name secret. but, it is time to unveil them! welcome, folks! are you ready for some giggles? i sure hope so, because our main antagonist is the one, the only...

The NECREAMANCER! The maker and breaker of illusions, master of the dark arts, and Beast of Deceit TRUTH!

Once, the Dairy Archmage was an Ancient Hero, the founder and headmaster of the legendary Parfaedia Institute and a beacon of knowledge across all of Earthbread! But, one day, his nagging curiosity got the better of him, and he left the Institute, searching for true power, true knowledge, true purpose. And you know what they say about what happens to the curious, don't you?

In the case of the Dairy Archmage, his very soul was split in half, producing the Necreamancer. The Soul Jam of Curiosity he once wielded, now without a clear master, was soon taken by the Necreamancer, and corrupted into a powerful source of arcane power: The Light of Deceit. And from there, the Beast wreaked havoc upon Earthbread, kickstarting what would soon be known as the Shadow Milk War.

He created an army of ice cream monstrosities from the souls and corpses of the fallen, the Unbaked Army. He found servants and allies, each with their own goals, and causes, but all equally willing to destroy Earthbread as cookiekind knew it, though only some sought to build it back up into something new. With the army at his beck and call and his newfound colleagues - whom, of course, he blessed with great power - he struck the first blow, and a swift response from the Ancient Heroes followed suit. However, with every year the war drew on, the Ancients and their resources were stretched thin, the Necreamancer's forces only grew with every soldier felled, and the Ancients' kingdoms, left unattended, were forced to fight off the Necreamancer's servants, especially his four generals, all by themselves.

And, to top it all off, the Necreamancer was an opportunist through and through, exploiting every chance he got to break the Ancient Heroes's spirits, with the goal of forcing them to give up their Soul Jams. He sent a terrible monster through the Grandberry Archipelago, did whatever he could to force tension between the Crème Republic's Convocation of Elders, their Great Houses, and the Upper and Lower Cities, and forced Pepper X and her crew all over Earthbread in vain attempts to protect what settlements they could.

Yet, somehow, despite it all, one hero remained stalwart...the bearer of the Light of Bravery: The Gingerknight. And that was all it took to keep the Ancients together just long enough for the Necreamancer himself to be cut down. No longer with the Necreamancer's magic to revive them, the Unbaked Army was slain soon after, and the Shadow Milk War came to a close...

...But, the damage was done. And the Necreamancer's servants, his four generals especially, remained, and though they were stripped of a significant portion of their power, they did not take kindly to their defeat, and most refused to go quietly.

So, taking the opportunity the moment it presented itself...the generals snuffed out the remaining embers of the Ancient Heroes' passionate fires, stole their Soul Jams, and worked together to use what little knowledge they had of the Necreamancer's magic to corrupt them. They were not their masters, like the Necreamancer was, but they still tied themselves to what were now the Lights of Apathy, Destruction, and Sloth, and Silence, and regained much of their lost power.

The Ancient Heroes were never seen again. None except for the Gingerknight, the one who remained determined, even in the wake of losing his Soul Jam. But in their place, the Cookies of Shadows arose. And as for the Ancients themselves...with their Soul Jams corrupted, and their spirits broken, the Beasts soon arrived.

Sweet Berry Cookie became the Jam Sentinel, Beast of Solitude RESOLUTION. A hulking facility and warship floating on the water, overgrown to the point of being confused for an island. With the former wielder of what once was the Light of Protection trapped within the core, lost in a simulated labyrinth of safety and sloth, the self-proclaimed "Bringer of Happiness" acts as the facility's head, and seeks to subject the rest of the Grandberry Archipelago to a similar fate.

Pâtissière Cookie I became the Clotted King, Beast of Gluttony FREEDOM. An enormous (and admittedly quite stout) wyvern, with the body and might of a full-blooded dragon, and few memories of its time as a cookie, which has recently taken over the Crème Republic and begun making its demands. Meanwhile, the supposed "Master of Apathy" has unleashed a great snowstorm onto the kingdom, as well as a terrible plague on its citizens, taking the chance to worm her way into the Convocation of Elders and weave the seeds of apathy in the hearts of its citizens in the wake of left and right disaster.

And lastly, Pepper X Cookie became the Carolina Reaper, Beast of Avarice ABUNDANCE. Blinded by a thirst for treasure, the Carolina Reaper has become the leader of a terrible band of thieves, with only a scant few members of her original pirate crew remaining with her to this day. Recently, they've set their sights on the newly-discovered Dry Yeast Isle off the coast of Beast-Yeast...although, the so-called "Great Destroyer" has amassed a similar band of plunderers, and is eager for the challenge she offers with her agility and expertise with the pair of sickles she wields.

(A/N: Don't ask about Silent Salt Cookie vs Gingerknight. That will come once Beast-Yeast Episodes 11 and 12, or however many it's going to take for Devsisters to tell Silent Salt and White Lily's story, are out.)

As for the Necreamancer himself? Well, he's dead, and the Gingerknight killed him. But, with the newfound substitution for the power he gave to them, not to mention the Ancient Heroes no longer being a threat to their reign, the Cookies of Shadows have set their sights on bringing their former master back from the grave as he once did their soldiers. This time, not as a master, but as an equal, with whom they will, ideally, finally take over Earthbread. What they'll do with him afterwards, of course, depends entirely on the individual.

But, as they say, if there's evil, then good will rise up against it. Centuries ago, it was the Ancient Heroes. Today, it will be our protagonists: Vanilla Bean Cookie, Redberry Cookie, Chocolate Cookie, Cheddar Cookie, and Sage Cookie.

part FIVE of my Cookie Run Kingdom swap AU!

as stated in the original post, and by process of elimination if you've been keeping up, White Lily swaps with Wizard Cookie! so, without further ado, we have:

Sage Cookie! The best friend of this AU's main character, Vanilla Bean Cookie, with the two of them sharing a dream of one day studying magic. While Vanilla Bean has resolved to learn White Magic specifically, Sage is less decisive. Really, she wants to try a little bit of everything...and a small voice in the back of her head especially wants to try what other people are hesitant to. Dark Moon Magic, Black Magic, such things are a morbid curiosity of hers, and even if she wouldn't use it for real, she can't deny wanting to know how it works.

She'd also like to know a few other things. Not that she's especially confident she'd like the answers.

And now, we have the very last of the Ancient Heroes. Dairy Archmage Cookie, the Light of Curiosity! A master of magic of all kinds, and rumored inventor of Dessert Magic (though this is unconfirmed), the legendary Dairy Archmage was said to have been the greatest magic user across Earthbread and back. He was by far the youngest of the Ancient Heroes by a wide margin, something which led to a...bit of an inferiority complex. Despite this, though, he vowed to discover all the secrets of Earthbread, and beyond! And, on top of this, he founded the legendary Parfaedia Magic Institute, so that he could have shared this knowledge with all those that sought to learn.

(More key - and VERY spoilery - lore under the cut, if you're interested in this AU and its story!)

The last to find a Soul Jam. The last to join in with the heroes. The last to be born, in some sort of sick cosmic joke. Always ahead of everyone else, yet always behind his peers...such is the story of the Dairy Archmage. Naturally, he wanted to bridge that gap. Between him and his friends, and between him and the citizens of Earthbread. That's why he founded the Institute, after all. But none of his students could keep up, and every day he spent as its headmaster was another day spent trying to re-explain what he already knew, rather than trying to expand his wisdom, discover the undiscovered, know the truths of the world!

So, he hired staff, and left them a copy of his spellbook - hundreds of pages thick, full of detailed notes of everything from the intricacies of the Nature Magic he was gifted in, to haphazard diagrams of a brand new form of magic he had created one night in his spire - while he went off to find more. To know more. To know everything, if the universe would allow him.

And then, he went off to uncover whatever he could about the greatest mystery that had plagued him: The purpose of Cookies. He had faint ideas of the Wizards baking Cookies to fulfill certain purposes, usually so as to assist in their research, but that was hardly anything, not to mention he knew nothing of what the Witches made Cookies for. What purpose did they give Cookiekind?

Well...you know how the story goes, don't you?

He found out.

And in that moment, a part of him, a part that ate away at him for years, slowly growing and growing, producing thoughts and emotions that gnawed on his brain for all of those sleepless nights in his spire...well, it was determined to prove exactly why it was superior. Superior to the doubters. Superior to his students. Superior to the Ancient Heroes. Superior to the Wizards. Superior to the Witches.

Superior to everyone.

part four of my Cookie Run Kingdom swap AU!

as stated in the original post, Golden Cheese Cookie swaps with Chili Pepper Cookie here. as such, to start we now have:

Cheddar Cookie! (there wasn't much to do with her pre-Soul Jam design, sorry)

A young and greedy cookie with an unrivaled ambition, Cheddar dreams of becoming royalty! Armed with her spear and an infallible determination, she would travel across Earthbread and back to manifest the vision in her mind: A prosperous kingdom, with coffers filled to the brim, and her as its queen! She even knows exactly where she'd build it, that being the Parmesan Desert she hails from.

That said, however, she has a deep, dark secret...that tuft of hair on the top of her head is actually a dollop of artificial cheese substitute that was added to her dough. Of course, most wouldn't really care if they found out about this truth, but she feels a tad insecure about not being pure 100% cheese.

In contrast, we have Pepper X Cookie, queen of the high seas and Light of Fervor! It's said that just a single pepper flake from her hair would be hot enough to quell even the restless Licorice Sea! Known to many as the greatest pirate the world over, she didn't have a traditional "kingdom" like the other Ancient heroes, instead forging an unforgettable legacy. Often clashing with the likes of the fearsome Durianeers or the monsters of the Duskgloom Sea, it's said that she herself gave pirate captain Stink-Eye Tortuca his infamous eyepatch, and that she was able to sail through the Licorice Sea unabated, despite the many monstrous creatures that made up its waters. With her captain's coat draped over her back, she sailed the oceans of Earthbread in search of treasure and thrills alike, always armed with her famous cutlass no matter where she went.

While she wasn't exactly on the best terms with the law, she was certainly better than...y'know, just about every other pirate in Earthbread, being more of a treasure hunter than a plunderer (though many would argue that means she isn't a pirate at all, but would you say that to her face?). Combined with being the holder of the Soul Jam of Fervor, and most of her shenanigans were tolerated, so long as she helped defend the kingdoms of Earthbread, a set of terms she agreed with.

After that fateful battle against the |||||||||||| and their Unbaked Army, however, Pepper X wasn't the same. She and her crew left port, as always, and sailed towards the Licorice Sea...and were never seen again.

Now nowhere to be found, many outlaws across Earthbread found themselves unrivaled; the Durianeers returned to ravage the Grandberry Archipelago, the Ginkgoblins returned to their mayhem on the Sugar-Free Road, and countless more similar scenarios transpired all over.

Meanwhile, the Licorice Sea has recently begun to recede, creating a whirlpool/crater a ways away from the shores of the inhospitable wasteland that is Beast-Yeast; known as the Dry Yeast Isle, it contains the many, many ships the beasts of the Licorice Sea once brought to ruin...and the wreckage of a lost civilization, filled to the brim with their ancient treasures.

In response, two rivaling bands of thieves have made their names known and begun fighting over the Dry Yeast Isle and its wealth, one led by a money-hungry rogue with an insatiable greed, and the other led by an adrenaline junky warlord that refuses to go a day without some entertainment, even if some of said entertainment is...a bit gruesome.

part three of my Cookie Run Kingdom swap AU!

as stated in the original post, Hollyberry swaps with Strawberry here. so, to start, we have:

Redberry Cookie! An aspiring adventurer, armed with nothing but her determination and a weirdly durable shield. She claims it's forged from the scale of a dragon, but this has yet to be confirmed in any way, shape, or form. Regardless, it works well enough, and with it, her friends, her own willpower, and some non-alcoholic berry juice for added courage, she continues to move onwards, and refuses to stop until she's slain a dragon! Although, this relentless passion might be moreso stubbornness at times, much to her own detriment...

And on the other side of the swap, we have Sweet Berry Cookie, the Light of Protection. A living - and very literal - embodiment of the phrase "Speak softly, but carry a big stick," Sweet Berry was, as her name suggests, a real sweetheart, able to turn even the sourest hearts, well, sweet! She didn't enjoy fighting, for fear that she or her comrades may get hurt, but as the 500 pound hammer she carried with her can tell you, she absolutely would if necessary.

Originally a nobody struggling to survive on the pirate-ridden islands of the Soda Ocean, she one day discovered a Soul Jam, which allowed her to drive the pirate threat out, forcing them into the Silent Ocean. From there, she turned her homeland into the renowned Grandberry Archipelago, a kingdom known for its bounty of fizz-infused berries, and its powerful naval defensive structure, allowing them to drive any threat away; they could probably take over the entirety of Earthbread's oceans if they so desired, but Sweet Berry was more interested in fortifying the territory they already had, for fear the pirates might return - or that something worse might arrive instead.

As the devastating war against the |||||||||||| and their Unbaked Army wore on, however, Sweet Berry's anxieties were eventually brought to fruition. A horrifying beast tore through the Archipelago, and when Sweet Berry returned, only a few islands and their settlements remained standing.

She vanished not too long afterwards.

The Grandberry Archipelago has since struggled to rebuild, and to this day has barely managed to so much as remain a united sovereign nation, especially now that the pirates of old have returned, hardened from their years-long voyage in the Silent Ocean. However, not too long ago, a mysterious landmass has appeared on the horizon, seemingly moving all on its own, with any who attempt to investigate, no matter who they are or where they're from, whether pirate, Grandberrian, or someone from somewhere entirely different, never returning.

Recently, this landmass has started to seem bigger. Or rather...started to drift closer. And with it, the Grandberry Archipelago has, surprisingly, never been a better vacation spot? The berries are plentiful, the islanders seem happier, and for the islands closest to the mass, brand new flora and fauna alike, all beautiful and friendly, have started to pop up. And yet, despite what a pillage of such pristine lands could bring, the pirates dare not go near, sticking to the islands closer to the mainland, and further away from this landmass.

Something is clearly afoot, and the pirates definitely know something about what's going on, assuming they're not directly involved. But...would you want to end one of the Archipelago's best times in its history since Sweet Berry's disappearance, especially when everything is so idyllic, the islanders so joyous? Could you do that? Should you?

in the thrilling sequel to my previous Cookie Run Kingdom post, we have...MORE SWAPS! or rather, swap, singular. i'm doing these one at a time.

as stated before, in this AU, Custard Cookie III swaps with Dark Cacao Cookie. this, thusly, produces two brand new cookies. to begin, we have:

Chocolate Cookie! The youngest in a long, long line of cacao warriors, who vowed to give their lives to protect the lands of Earthbread. He seeks to live up to the expectations he has set for himself, and to bring honor to his family. Although, little does he know, his family wasn't always the honor-bound knights he knows them as...not that any of them still alive remember what they used to be, anyhow, on account of just how long ago it was.

Next up, we have Pâtissière Cookie I, the Light of Guidance. With his Soul Jam, he lit the way to a bright future, and led his followers to a new tomorrow! With them behind him, he founded the legendary Crème Republic, a shining sovereign nation led by not just him, but his own dedicated council; Earthbread's first parliament and senate.

Nowadays, however, while the Republic stands strong, that strength has begun to waver. A horrifying dragon has appeared from seemingly nowhere, and Pâtissière I is nowhere to be found, leaving the Republic's Convocation to sort out the mess, and debate if they should continue bending to the beast's whims.

And, on top of it all, a mysterious figure with an unreadable expression, clad all in white, has appeared in the Convocation, and with her, a snowstorm, which refuses to let up, slowly draining the Republic of its resources, and seemingly also causing random Cookies to fall sick, or even go missing.

Can the Republic be saved? Can Pâtissière I be found? Where did the dragon come from? Who is this new Cookie in the Convocation, and what is her relation to the unrelenting snow?

(And no, the dragon is not Pitaya. It's not any known Dragon Cookie, as a matter of fact.)

Behold, our protagonist: Vanilla Bean Cookie, an aspiring healer with a kind and gentle heart...sometimes to his detriment. Regardless, however, he refuses to back down, and will save Earthbread or die trying.

On the other hand, we have:

The Gingerknight! Former leader of the Ancient Heroes, and the only one remaining as far as anyone on Earthbread is aware. Normally quiet and stoic, swiftly slaying threats with his candy cane blade, he is in actuality quite amicable, though he doesn't often let others see that side of himself. As the Light of Bravery, he charges headlong into danger, determined to save everyone he possibly can.
