XF Fics I’ve Read More Than Once

and would 100% read again. in a heartbeat. 

Shred of Doubt I / Shred of Doubt II - I’m a sucker for Established MSR Casefile Fics With Angst (put this on my headstone) and this is my favorite of them all.

Overnight Sensation - I love anything by Syntax6 but this is my personal favorite. 

Blinded By White Light - almost certain this is the first MSR fic I read and I still hold it as one of my favorite pieces of literature. 

No More Demons - so. fucking. good. 

The Unfinished Universe - the way this fic is organized puts me at ease and the characterization is amazing. 

The Common Fate Of All Things Rare - I stayed up all night reading this in December and I swear it changed my life. 

Andromeda -  the summary itself drew me into this fic. its so poetic and good I’m gonna post it. bravo, @h0ldthiscat, this took my breath away. 

He thinks of the dozens of books he has on the cosmos, the hundreds of articles he’s read on star clusters and galaxies, and how he wants to show them to her, wants to pour over them together until they find a constellation that is Scully, until he knows the map of her. Marijuana makes him awfully poetic, he thinks.

Machines of Freedom - isn’t sad to see Chris Carter write revival episodes when @amalnahurriyeh exists? 

An Acceptable Level of Happiness - you’ll never meet a Muslim who loves Christmas more than I do, give me all Christmas fic. 

All That Is Dark and Bright - not a big Emily resurrection fan, but this one is amazing. its filled with angst, and MSR, and case file, and sadness, and happiness, and just, ugh, MalibuSunset is amazing but this is by far her best work. 

Above Minnesota - I love planes and the confined spaces that force characters to address issues. I love plane fics. send some my way. havei mentioned I love plane fics. 

Basketball Therapy - I love basketball and I’m in therapy and this is amazing. 

Ripped - I fell in love with two characters other than Mulder and Scully here congrats on fucking doing that. 

The Way Things Are - I and II - I love this AU so much 

Speechless/Perfect - okay, I get goosebumps reading this fic because its so poetic in a dark but beautiful way, it transcends all wavelengths. READ READ READ 

Undercover Swing - okay, I’m going to put a WIP here and I know you all know of it, because well, of course you do. I finally had a chance to read this two days ago. I may be the last person too. I had to read it more than once - the first time to just read it and the second time to truly read it and this fic is so much more than smut, its art. Queen of Smut, we are not worthy.

The Professional I / II / III - can you tell I love angst, because I do. This is so angsty and so good.

God yes. So tired of all the bullshit anger and sanctimony. You can work to eliminate injustice without being a miserable fuck. And I’m talking to non-marginalized people here. Cuz it’s rarely the marginalized who act this way. It’s the attention-seeking, virtue signaling, majority who walk around with these angry, holier than thou attitudes that drive me up the fucking wall.

i think people need to stop glorifying sassiness and bitterness and start promoting the idea of actually being fucking nice and civil to people who did nothing to you.

Smut, Life and Goddesses

Hello everyone.

A couple words about fanfiction, smut, the goddesses that are smut writers, and other things. Everyone who’s ever attempted to write a fanfic, please read it. A personal story but I’ll keep it as short and as devoid of self-centeredness as possible.

My name is Mira (actually my full first name is shortened to Minna, but I prefer my second name for its simplicity). Last autumn, at 32 years of age, I’ve been suddenly diagnosed with some tough crap to deal with. Somehow in the depths of my refusal to believe I remembered the fandom of my childhood, looked up X-Files fanfiction and there I was.

I’ve been delving deep into the World of the X-Files on Tumblr ever since.  

I can’t concentrate on much storyline or read more than a couple chapters; in fact this little text is going to take me a couple days to produce. You just have to believe how much that crap limits. I’ve always been an avid and very fast reader and a sharp mind, and not being able to concentrate for more than a couple dozen minutes hurts practically physically. It reminds me of my countdown much more effectively than the pain or depression does.

Then, for the first time in my life I got introduced to smut, and… well, it opened something inside of me. I was suddenly *able*. I noticed a twitch of life in this dying body. I read some more and understood that the uncertain twitch soon developed to the full-visible sprout of bright, practically neon green in the barren wasteland which was me. Has been me before the illness, probably.

…no, miracles do not happen this easily and I did not suddenly spring to life or somehow get to another realm where I could overcome my condition. But my overall being has changed dramatically. Mira the Smut Reader seems to be much more efficient overall than Mira the Dying. Mira the Smut Reader deals with anxiety and depression faster and more naturally. She cares about others, which would be impossible for the one concentrated fully on… well, dying.

And yes, the quality of my life, even with all my limitations, has increased unbelievably. That IS why I’m saying, and keep saying, that all of you (too many to count… I spend my days on Gossamer and Liminal lately) HAVE SAVED MY LIFE.

@wtfmulder with The Masterpiece “The Semantic Space” (“Scully what color am I” shattered me into pieces and refused to make me whole, why?) and my guilty pleasure “Over the Knee and Far with You” (if you’re female, You just DO react to dominant Mulder),

@msrafterdark who I’m just refusing to approach or to praise, she’s too beautiful for this world. She breaks in the same places I break in. Have to protect. Please continue. What ever you are doing.

And there ARE others. Lyrica some 20 years ago with the best Skinner ever… a lot.

Please have it here as a biggest Thank You you could ever get. You saved me, for as short of period of time that can be, but you saved one person and… well, at least I don’t get to leave these planes of snow here before setting up a good fight. Right?

If only they had...I shipped these two so hard and it is very rare for me to ship the actual actors that portrayed the characters. But these two...well, it was just so obvious that he was in love with her. Not to mention that she had a thing for him as well. Although, Mrs. Andrews was not as vocal about it as Mr. Plummer was.

Fun fact: In the Sound of Music, right after Georg breaks off his engagement to Elsa, he goes in search for Maria and finds her sitting on a bench right outside the gazebo. This is the scene where Georg is supposed to reveal his feelings for Maria, the only problem was that Christopher Plummer had forgotten his lines, so he improvised by telling Julie Andrews his real feelings instead. The scene was so poignant that the producers and director decided to keep it.

The moment he began improvising:

Maria: Yes?

Georg: Well, nothing was the same when you were away...and it will all be wrong again when you leave and I was just hoping that perhaps you might...change your mind?

It was this scene that he faltered and Christopher Plummer said that all he could think about was how desperately he missed Julie Andrews when she was not filming in Austria with him, so, he decided to roll with it.

Expect a slew of Sound of Music gifs and videos. Sorry, my peeps, it was my all time favorite movie and I have to give props to my man, Mr. Plummer.
