A Fan girl of many a thing...so many apparently that the thought of writing it out here kinda daunted me. A writer, a theater kid, a nerd, and an office girl.

Sometimes it feels like you've lived your whole life in a house that's always a little bit on fire. Like it's usually just in one room and you make sure to wet the walls around it so it doesn't spread and that usually works. You were expected to take more responsibility over fire containment when you were like seven because it's not like you can expect your parents to always be 100% on guard about making sure the whole house doesn't catch fire, and you figure that's just how things are like.
And sometimes as a kid you visit your friends' homes and some of then whisper to you - grimacing with embarrassment - about how they're not supposed to tell anyone this, but there's a whole room in their house that's currently on fire. And you're like yeah it's ok I'm not supposed to tell people about the way our house is a little bit on fire all the time, too. And then you visit some other friend's house and there's no trace of fire anywhere, and you think "wow, these people are really good at hiding their house fire."
And one day you show up to work like "hey sorry I'm late, I forgot to wet the walls before going to bed last night and my whole house burned down", and you're startled by the way people react, acting like that must be the worst thing that has ever happened to you. And you're just like "chill, it's been years since the last time this happened, and it wasn't even that bad this time", and that just makes people more shocked, acting like that's the weirdest and most concerning thing they've ever heard anyone say, which only confuses you more.
And then someone tries to explain to you that people aren't supposed to have an ongoing house fire. Most people actually never experience a house fire in their lives. Like not even once. Not even a little bit. The normal amount of having your house be currently on fire is zero.

I played Dragon Age after completing the Mass Effect trilogy. Mass Effect made me fall in love with video games in a way I never had before. The way Shepard was handled made me feel like I was taking part in writing the story, it felt collaborative and creative.
I picked up Dragon Age because it was made by the same company and I was hoping it would be similar--and then was amazed that it did all the things Mass Effect did but better.
The companions were more complex, you could have actual relationship arcs with them that changed depending on your rp choices.
The conflicts were more layered, the world itself creating just as many problems through it's political/cultural systems as whatever magical enemy the heroes were also facing.
Your characters personality felt like it went beyond "Paragon" or "Renegade". You weren't punished for mixing your RP choices from one end of the spectrum to the other, allowing for PCs with more depth.
It's just wild to me that the heads at Bioware & EA decided Mass Effect was the better series. The writing and game mechanics just aren't as compelling imo. I wish the Dragon Age team got more credit for the amazing things they were able to do with the series.

"Why is it a problem if students use AI to get through college"
Because if you demonstrate to me that you're willing to set aside concern for truth, evidence, and verifying things with your own eyes whenever it happens to be inconvenient for you, I have a solemn responsibility to make sure you don't get into medical school.

Not perfect and not always right but basically:
Is it a screen shot?
Is there a link?
Did you click/read the link?
Was it a real source (AP wire, local news, the original online post - not Fox, not the Sun, not NY Post, etc)?
Did you find any confirmation?
Did it strongly confirm a bias or suspicion?
Did it make you feel angry, smug, disgusted, superior, and/or helpless?
Is it important enough to you that you think it needs to be shared?
Do you have the energy, time, ability to research, confirm, and provide sources, links, and some additional clarifying details?
Generally I have this in mind, not necessarily always and not always observed, and I forget and blah blah. But it's a pretty simple guide to remember, and honestly items 1 and 9 cover me most of the time.

The problem with having a child with an attorney that has spoken to the child like an adult since birth is that she's 4 years old and she's negotiating the order in which we're going to complete tasks as a family to best suit her idea of an ideal day.
