Could you share your headcanons for how Axel and Saix got recruited?

Isa/Saix

- got disappeared by the apprentices when their experiments started ramping up before the fall of radiant garden

- i don't have a set idea of what experiments exactly were but i like to think that him becoming a nobody was a direct result of them, rather than accident.

- maybe testing the strength of the heart against darkness until he "died" but then suddenly he wasn't actually dead and it's like "oh! fascinating! we're just. we're gonna continue running tests."

- probably held over his head after the world fell and the organization formed like "really. you should be grateful. if it weren't for us you probably would've died for real for real."

- didn't have much of a choice on the recruitment front but really did anyone

Lea/Axel

- 100% natural nobody born out of sheer stubbornness and will to live

- just... didn't escape or die during the fall and woke up floating on some debris in what's become hollow bastion

- isa was sent to recruit him for some good ol psychological torture (lea thought he was dead but no! what happened was worse!)

- isa told lea to run. run as far as he can and keep running. it's too late for him but maybe lea can escape

- lea, for his part, tried. unfortunately newly formed nobodies are weak and unstable and it didn't take long for xigbar to catch up
