What do you think of the Concrete trend that we’re seeing so much of lately? Personally, I love it! But it can be a daunting trend to follow. This week’s blog post shares my thoughts on the KBB Nolte Kuchen display and their use of the concrete finish, along with some suggestions of what you could do if you want to integrate some of this trend into your home. The link is in my bio! Let me know what your thoughts are and whether you would have some concrete pieces in your home! (at NECBirmingham)

😱 A #lettering post! Kim, what’s happening?! You remember those posts I used to do where I would try to write a long, meaningful and uplifting caption to upbuild others and get my point of view across.... this is something like that! I needed to get this thought across somehow and lettering seemed to be the only way I knew I could do it MY way. Have you ever experienced the need to be liked by everyone? Tearing yourself up in knots in order to gain everyone’s approval, only to be unable to focus on any positive feedback because you are too distracted by the one Negative Nancy sitting in the corner, hating on you? Me too. My recent blog post is a little different to the others. It’s an honest reflection on myself, my innate need to be liked by everyone and why I can no longer allow myself to live that way. Please check it out (link in bio) and let me know what you think. It has been quite some time since I’ve lettered, so I am very rusty, but I really enjoyed chilling out and doodling again!!! #upcycle I am so proud of this upcycling project! Swipe to take a look at the old, battered chest of drawers that I started out with. Pretty poor sight, right? I used the chalk paints that I mentioned a few posts ago and have written a blog post, I will be uploading the link very shortly. Fancy seeing the process for this project? Stay tuned for a blog post that shares the ‘step-by-step’ that this chest went through in order to look as good as it does now! (at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire)

Greenery or herbs in containers that look like brown paper bags! These are so cute! I love the boho, natural feel to this and really like the idea of them being used to decorate a kitchen or garden room. What do you think? (at NECBirmingham)

Sometimes, when the purse strings are tight, or money needs to go elsewhere for a while, you have to get #creative and #imaginative with your home decor. It may not be your ideal solution or your dream, but with a little imagination, you can create a unique and attractive space that is inviting and, better yet, personal to you. Books that are special to you can be a great way to accessorise. Hardback design books, photography books or some vintage bound books can look great when on display. Check out my latest blog post for some more ideas on how to accessorise your home without spending much, if any, money. Do you have any books that you love and keep on display? Show us! Make sure you tag me - I’d love to see them! (at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire)

A moment of silence please.... This copper basin and tap set by @hurlinghambaths is gorgeous! I really like the squareness and those taps.... I would LOVE a pair of those traditional style beauties! Hurlingham specialise in bespoke tailoring for baths, customising and hand decorating their designs. I spent a good while on their display at #kbblive, there were such beautiful baths and basins and brassware. My pictures will never do them justice, but you can be sure I will be sharing some more of their beautiful products on here! So, what do you think? Would you have a copper-style basin? Been doing a little shopping today.... got a little up-cycle project (maybe not so little) in the works which I will be sharing shortly. Found these chalk paints by @makeitrustoleum that I wanted to try - haven’t used them before but I’m really excited to see how they turn out! I will be doing a review on them and sharing my up-cycle project soon. Which colour is your favourite? 💛💚💙💖🖤 (at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire)

One word for this - wow! Look at this bold colour! 💛 I had to stop and just absorb this display by @bauformatusa when I saw it at #kbbbirmingham2018. The traditional style of the doors and the panelling looks awesome in this brilliant yellow! The seating area in between two tall cupboards is so practical and would be a perfect, fun design for a family. That extra storage beneath the seat is a bonus too! What do you think of the yellow? Love it or hate it? (at National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham, B40 1NT)

#inspiration Ever feel like you’re in a bit of a slump... you know, that ‘urgh’ feeling where your best friends seem to be your PJ’s and the Couch (seriously, no one understands me like they do!) and you would rather find a billion ways to avoid doing what you should be doing. Sometimes a little inspiration (along with a few other things) can really help pull you out of that rut and get you back to being energised and motivated again. I love flicking through #interiordecor magazines and nosing through articles of beautiful homes and designs. Checking out #interiordesign accounts on Insta or Pinterest helps too, but if that doesn’t quite hit the spot, going for a wander through town and looking in some home furnishing shops (second-hand or new) can really boost the creative juices. What helps YOU feel inspired to create? (at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire)

Oh hello there, Blush Pink, fancy seeing you here! Hands up... who hasn’t really considered pink as an option for their kitchen? Yea.... until now, it wasn’t my first choice either. But, I think we’ll be seeing quite a lot of this trend in 2018. During my visit to #kbbbirmingham2018 the other day, I saw a couple of gorgeous kitchens that used this on-trend blush colour in their displays. And I fell in love💗 Check out my blog post (link in bio) to hear my thoughts on this design. And let me know what YOU think too. Would you have pink in your kitchen? (at NECBirmingham)

So let’s talk the Pantone Colour of the Year - Ultra Violet! A vibrant, rich and jewel-toned purple. Personally, I’ve never been a huge purple fan (lilac is usually so not my thing), but I am super excited to see how this colour is used in different designs throughout this year. The colour purple has long had a spiritual and mystical connection, bringing a mindful and inspirational presence into a space. Think King Solomon, Roman Emperors and, more recently, Prince with his individuality and creativity. But, how would you style it?! Take a look at this image, (swipe left) styled by @debenhams. I love the way there is no fear in this design, mixing jewel-tones together to create a rich, deep and inviting interior. The shutters look amazing, sprucing up period features with this bold colour and the accents of pink and turquoise really lift the space. If this seems far too ‘out-there’ for you.... what about this gorgeous vase in the next picture (swipe) by @matthewwilliamsom (who, btw, designs the most awesome interior decor!). This will add a hint of this year’s colour, without taking over your space. Personally, I’m tempted to paint a piece of batter vintage furniture in it, OR, grab some throw cushions for our couch to add some pops of fun to our space. So what do you thinking ultra-violet? Is it for you? Let me know!!! (at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire)

Oh- hi there! Long time, no seee, ey? Oh, you didn’t notice that I’ve been MIA for weeks...? Rude. Nah, I kid. I’ve not really even tapped on Instagram for the past few weeks, taking a little bit of a break, and some ‘me-time.’ Why? Lots has been going on BTS at xkimcreatesx. A couple of things I cannot share here YET! However, there has been lots of soul-searching, lots of decision-making, and a few big life-decisions that are exciting, very different and, well, a little bit scary if I’m totally honest. I will reveal all in the coming weeks. I haven’t really done any lettering as a result of this. And although I still love this hobby, I have made the decision that I will have to push it further down my ‘Things-I-Need-to-Pursue-and-Give-My-Time-To’ list, in order to make more room and time for something that I will be pursuing in the coming months and years. I have always been in love with design. Particularly, Interior Design. About two years ago, I started out on a path to pursue my dream to become an Interior Designer, focusing first on Kitchens and Bathrooms. I lost my way for a while, getting caught up in certain circumstances. But an opportunity has arisen at the beginning of 2018, that will give me the chance to fully immerse myself in that dream, to fully pursue (and work bloody hard towards) my goal. That being said, one of my goals over the next six (or so) months, is to work on my home, designing and creating a space that we love to be in. Along the way, I will share projects, tips and tricks, pieces of decor and other homey-womey-stuff with you, starting with this sketch that I have thrown together for my workspace. You can see the space as it is now and the time-lapse video of the design if you swipe. I hope you will appreciate my change in direction, though I know the lettering lovers out there will probably be a little disappointed in my decisions. It it feels like the right time to move in the direction I’m headed, and I would love to share some of it with you as I go. I’d also love to hear from you if you are a lover of interior design and home decor!! I’m always looking for inspiration and fellow enthusiasts! (at Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire)
