I’m about halfway through Releasing 10, and whilst I am enjoying it there are a few things I’m not a huge fan of.

Lizzie and Hughie supposed to be children, but it doesn’t come across like that for a lot of what I’ve read so far.

Granted Hughie is depicted as being wise for a child, but it still feels as though it’s his teenage self that we see in the other books speaking, thinking and acting, not child Hughie.

I have read a couple comments of people saying that it’s a lot of trauma and awful events crammed into the book, and I can see where they come from.

I do get that exploring this may be important for Lizzie’s backstory, but at times it feels almost excessive? I’m not sure how to explain that any better.

At this stage of the book, I miss the original timeline and I think that this book could have benefitted more from flashbacks as opposed to the whole thing being them as children.

Granted, I’m only halfway through.

I am still really enjoying it but so far, that’s something that I’m not obsessed with.

Hopefully if the book doesn’t return to the original timeline, we get to see their relationship as teenagers in more detail because that was something that I really enjoyed about the first few books even though I’ve historically not been a Lizzie fan.

I’m about a third of the way through and so much has happened already.

By page 90 I was already shocked.

It’s a very well-told story thus far but is by far the heaviest.
