Where exacly is Poland?
Witam was wszystkich bardzo serdecznie!
I decided to start my job as ambassador with answering question, that look quite obvious — where exacly is Poland? Common answer would be “in Europe”, “next to Germany, I think” or sometimes “isn’t that in Russia?” and mostly they are correct (not including Russia one, of course), but I usually like to be more specific.
Poland is located, of course, in Europe — Central Europe. It’s one of countries with access to Baltic Sea, it’s coast located on the territory of Poland is spread from the Bay of Pomerania to the Bay of Gdańsk. Both of this places are attracive for tourists, because of their historical and cultural meaning to country. Poland borders with: Germany (from the east), Czechia, Slovakia (from the south), Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania and Russia, due to Kalingrad Oblast (from the west and north).
Apparently my computer is againts me, so I can’t paste any map, although I would like to. Have some fun facts instead: – You could notice a lot of cultural differences between specific regions of Poland. It is caused by partitions, when part of Poland was Russian, other part Prussian and yet another was Austrian for 123 years. In this time, a lot of traditions and behaviors taken root in Polish people.
– Poland is one of three countries commonly associated with vodka, along with Russia and Finland, but the most popular alcohol in Poland is actually beer. Vodka is served mostly during “big” events, such as weddings, name-days or 18th birthdays.
– If we are talking about 18th birthdays, they are the most important one. In Poland, if you are 18 years old, you are officially and “adult”, you can drink alcohol, have a decend job or life on your own. With the attainment of 18 years old, you can also have a driving licence and go to the university. The age of consent in Poland is 15 years old.
– Name-days in Poland can be compared to birthdays, because they are usually celebrated similiarly. The difference is name-days are more “domestic”, with drinking, eating and talking at the table with family members, while birthdays are events celebrated with friends, usually with a really loud party and often by going outside the house, to public places (who’s having birthday is paying, that’s kind of a rule).
– Polish people are everywhere. There is even a joke, “when there is nobody from Poland in country, this country does not exist”.
That’s all for this post. Do zobaczenia~!

I’m an ambassador! <3
Witam was wszystkich bardzo serdecznie! <3 I must warn you, I like to write long paragraphs :”D
My name is Aleksander (well, not really, but I prefer to be called that), but my nickname is Rev, you can call me that! Today I was accepted as an ambassador of Poland by @hetaliafandomhub (thank you very much, I’m really honoured!), which means I can be consider as a teacher who teaches you about my motherland. Yes, we refer to Poland as a female, because in Polish “Poland” is “Polska” in feminine form. You can take that as a fun fact! But I must say that I am still a young person, so I might not know everything, but other Polish members of Hetalia fandom are free to correct me! <3 (and native english speakers are free to correct my mistakes, of course!) As about Poland - I’m quite sad that we are usually forgotten. We have a lot to offer for tourists - beafitul towns like Kraków (Cracov) and Wrocław, quite modern capital and a lot of nice sights! Our history is one of the bloodiest (still, I’m not sure, but it surely is bloody), but it’s for sure interesting! As and ambassador, I’ll try to introduce people to Poland, teach them about our culture, history and maybe even language (well, I’ll try, because it’s one of the hardest). Some fun facts? Sure! - We have REALLY friendly relationship with Hungary. In our countries there is even a “Polish-hungarian friendship day”! - One of our traditional dishes is called “Gołąbki”, which literally means “little pigeons”, but don’t worry - we don’t eat pigeons! Gołąbki is cabbage roll stuffed with minced meat. - We have a lot of famous people from Poland! Mikołaj Kopernik, Maria Skłodowska-Curie, Adam Mickiewicz, Juliusz Słowacki, Karol Szymanowski, Tadeusz Kościuszko... Altrough they are usually underappreciated and that’s a shame. Well, I guess that’s all. I hope we will get along! Do zobaczenia~! PS. I’m terribly sorry If It came out not-official, but I’m really exited and I’m not really a serious person. I’ll do my best to change it!
#hetalia#I FELL LIKE A WINNER OF LIFE RIGHT NOW#hetaliafandomhub#aph poland#aph ambassador#poland (I don't like using tag without aph in hetalia posts...)

FREE ART PROGRAMS
So recently I came across a fellow artist who was struggling to find a free art program, and considering dropping the large amount of money for a Photoshop license. I know not everyone can afford such an expensive program, so I’ve compiled a list of programs with no cost to download and use.
Keep in mind all computers are different, so not all will work for everyone. Also, I’ve only ever used Windows, so for the most part, I’m not sure if everything will work for Mac. if in doubt check the website linked.
Photoshop CS2 - (Windows, not sure about Mac.)
FireAlpaca - (Windows and Mac)
Sketchbook Copic Edition - (Windows and Mac)
GIMP - (Windows) (Mac)
Paint tool SAI [cracked] - (Windows) (Mac)
Paint tool SAI 2 beta - (tumblr post on said program)
iPaint - (Mac)
Paintbrush - (Mac)
Pencil - (Windows, Mac)
Paint.NET - (Windows)
Seashore [still in development, ver 0.5] - (Mac)
ChocoFlop - (Mac)
Inkscape - (Mac and Windows)
ArtRage [Demo] - (Mac and Windows)
OpenCanvas 1.1[must pay for 2.0] - (Windows, not sure about Mac.)
MyPaint - (Windows)
Krita - (Windows)
Vectorian [Supports Animation] - (Windows)
Pixia[Japanese, some English versions] - (Windows)
Asperite - (Windows)
Chasys Draw IES - (Windows)
SmoothDraw - (Windows)
TwistedBrush Open Studio - (Windows)
BOUNS - CTRL+Paint [Great for teaching all kinds of stuff, like how to use digital programs.]
If you know more free programs, please add onto this!
