If there’s anything I’ve learned from being on social media (Tumblr and Reddit exclusively), it’s that apparently, I am at my funniest/most engaging when I am not trying very hard.

On Reddit, I have apparently been in the top 10% of commenters for three subreddits (AKA, me responding to other people was very liked by the community). I didn’t even know I had done it the first two times, by the way.

The first time I hit top 10% was in the r/Tumblrdraws community, where I commented that I would love to be able to walk into a grocery store in full plate armor with a cooler designed like a treasure chest and give cashiers chocolate coins. I had said this with genuine intentions, because I like medieval armor and want to brighten the days of the poor employees who have to put up with the public.

The second time was in r/SpyxFamily, where someone asked what would be the stupidest way that the writer could end the series. I had said something along the lines of “Henry Henderson beats up all the spies, assassins, and secret police. Then, while they’re all too exhausted to stand, he gives a lecture on elegance.” A lot of people responded to say that they’d love to see that ending, apparently. I had two other examples of stupid endings in my comment that I tried much harder to explain, but neither of them got reacted to at all.

The third time was in r/traumatizethemback, on my own post, where I was describing accidentally defending myself from bad medical advice by over-sharing my history of injuries. I had simply realized that I had technically done something to fit the subreddit, and that I might as well talk about it.

Meanwhile, here on Tumblr, there’s no real metric for quality other than notes. But I still have one post that stands out from the rest.

I said once that because of the fact that Anya looks sparkly through Damian’s eyes, and Damian is shown to see and interact with sound effects in the manga, I have the crack theory that Damian can break the 4th wall, but doesn’t know it. That post is my only one on Tumblr that has hit the “big numbers”, and by that, I mean more than 30 notes.

In all of these cases, I didn’t really think too hard about being funny or interesting or anything. I just had a thought and shared it. Inversely, I have a vastly larger number of comments on Reddit and Posts on Tumblr that I did try to be entertaining in, and they have been effectively ignored.

So yeah, no real point to me saying this, in the end. I’m only entertaining when I’m not trying to be, I guess.

I think I’ve seen a few posts on here about how “Damian-Vision” makes Anya very sparkly on top of emphasizing the good parts about her appearance. While that in itself is a very funny concept, I want to take it a step further, and have come up with the most nonsensical headcanon/crack theory I possibly could have.

The reason why Anya looks sparkly to Damian is because he’s the ONLY person who can see the twinkles that appear around her when she reads minds. We also see him swatting away bubbles of text occasionally in the manga, something that he has done since early on in the series. And his swatting is acknowledged by other characters, who are always confused by what he’s doing.

Damian is able to see the elements of the manga that are invisible to every other character. He’s got a superpower like Anya does, but he hasn’t realized it.

If Sisyphus was as mentally ill as me, then yeah, one WOULD imagine Sisyphus happy. I’ve been sweeping this grocery store floor for 5 hours, with a broom that’s JUST short enough that I have to bend over JUST enough to make my back sore, and I’ve been having the time of my life. Barely anybody tries to talk to me, I get to daydream while doing a simple task, and watching the floors shift from dirty to clean to dirty again is very satisfying.

I kept confusing the two acronyms, so I decided to add the noodle creature to the circus. I don’t know if I’ll continue replacing mannequins with this thing, but I’m glad this ended up being my first Tumblr post.
