has known only one parent (mother) up until halfway through high school when she discovers the identity of her biological dad and like doesn't turn upside down fresh prince style like she initially assumed it did

googles her dad ( as anyone would ), finds out he's RICH rich, quizzes momma about who her dad is/how they met/what he's like/why they're not together anymore/does he know she exists

answers: ok joonho ( like it says on your birth certificate, duh! )/at a bar/charming - at least on the surface, the type of guy that everyone assumes can do no wrong/he was married at the time tbh soooo it wasn't gonna go anywhere realistically/.....yeah

she takes an interest in the sciences and all that post-discovery of daddio, which surprises everyone b/c she definitely looked like she was headed towards the arts but like fast forward and she's halfway through uni and a bachelor's in pharmaceutical science

( really it's a subconscious way of earning daddio's approval - them good ol' daddy issues, u feel? )

through outrageous struggles and hard work ( i.e. asking momma for her dad's number that she's surprisingly kept aND he's never changed it either? tf? ) gets in contact with daddio, secret underground ( i.e. a study café that has those private rooms for studying ) meeting is arranged to discuss ~everything~

daddio tells her she can't say a WORD about being his daughter which seems kinda sus but also she's gonna get a hush-hush allowance and a free job at the company ( so she, a) keeps quiet, and b) joonho can keep an eye on her ) so who's really winning? answer: chaewon

cut to present day: she's halfway through her masters, now a R&D manager at haru, living her best, normal, average life!!

personality wise: she's pretty much indifferent about everything, the type to just shrug her shoulders and say 'meh' to good shit that happens, bad shit that happens, and just any kind of shit that happens; also crazy determined though, as seen in tracking down daddio, grinding through a masters degree she second-guesses every other week; kinda judgemental soz; very independent and doesn't want any help ( except that free money wired to her every month..... that can stay ); honestly a really good friend if you stick around long enough for her to like you! the type to quietly take notice of small details you might mention and then all of a sudden you're getting that shirt you said you wanted in passing one thursday last year in april; carefree in the sense that she'll do whatever she wants when she feels like it, e.g. drink at lunchtime, sleep with that dude, read that one book, wear that one shirt to work that's not exactly appropriate
