jang hyerin, 26yo unemployed baby of the fam after (ceo) junghoon and junghwa.

grew up mostly out of the spotlight since it was her older sisters fairytale love life or her brother’s questionable capabilities as an heir that were on blast. meant she got away with quite a bit ngl, but now that her siblings are settled down and living relatively normal lives the attention is onto her!

seems to be the closest to her mum, and she is, kinda, only cause she hasn’t disappointed her severely yet and is still in line with her expectations. lowkey worships the ground her mum walks on while at the same time resenting how much she needs her validation. doesn’t help that her mom thinks “needing” someone is weak. so yeah it’s complicated 😳

quite athletic in high school. enjoyed track and all and decided she wanted to do something related to sports medicine/therapy hence the physical therapy route. her focus ended up changing to rehabilitative medicine, though (likely due to her dads condition).

dad passed while she was completing her bachelors and it took a toll on the whole family cause he was a pretty kind guy, albeit a workaholic. hyerin ended up doing her masters in london, almost like she was running away. but she’s back! 

a bit of background on her dad cause i think it’s interesting: he had some humble roots and worked his way into founding his construction company, JH Construction (later changed to JH Holdings) which is now a chemical manufacturing and exporting company namely construction materials like silicone, paints, etc.

tw/ cancer. their dad had a long battle with cancer since 2010. he was in remission before it metastasized to his liver so it was a tough time to say the least.

unmotivated and kinda lost in terms of direction atm. she got back recently and is interning at a clinic. still getting settled in, though, and hoping to land a few interviews down the line. her mum’s not the most pleased.

tw/ gambling. found out her brother’s been gambling and used that to end up owning about 15-ish% of his estate. pretty much a transaction: she keeps hush and helps him, and he pays up. she never really had a relationship with him to begin with because he’s so much older, but now they’re definitely not on speaking terms.

other personality tidbits: sociable, probably had a few friends but struggled with keeping them close. lowkey wears her heart on her sleeve. also the kind of person that will achieve whatever she sets her mind to aka strong willed. likely has a poor romantic life full of leading people on, complicated relationships, etc. pretty stubborn and unapologetic.

overall, your very typical rich kid with some mild mommy issues.

for plots! ex’s (messy ofc cause that’s always a fun time), maybe a current relationship but there’s not a lotta love there (maybe some appearance or some “we’re technically compatible” stuff), friends she suddenly dropped when she left to london, friends of her sister or people that know her siblings, complicated friendships (the kind of where they only really reach out to each other to vent or are close in a specific way that doesn’t garner a lot of casual hanging out), party friends! time to get together and reminisce the energy yall had back in the day, enemies cause lbr she’s probably pissed off a lot of people. i’m pretty open to anything though! :)

backstory

youngest hong child, kind-of-sort-of born Solely because his parents weren’t completely happy with his older siblings and thought hey third time’s the charm

raised to be the perfect politician (tm) from day -1. only he had trouble with speaking and has always been on the shy side which is ‘unacceptable’. he was placed with a speech therapist at a young age because of a lisp + issues with stuttering. as he is now, hyojin still has a lisp though he doesn’t stutter as much as he used to as a kid.

got interested in music despite his parents Not liking that -___- picked up piano & violin though so at least it’s classical music?

he was pushed to attend meetings and events with his dad even as a teenager or at least be watching/listening from a distance. 

the thing is... hyojin hates politics & politicians. he more or less opposes near everything that his father, the president, stands for. since the election it’s been pretty hellish.

hyojin does his military service as soon as he graduates highschool so he isn’t present for part of his dad’s term.

he comes back 2020 and has no choice but to go to university. he starts his first year studying political science... which he feels like he’s been doing his whole life.

in high school and the start of college, he gains more interest in music & is introduced to music production by a friend, which he begins to spend more and more time doing.

personality / etc

at first glance, people usually will write him off as quiet/shy/reserved because he won’t make eye contact and doesn’t speak unless spoken to. his ‘don’t speak unless spoken to’ has seeped into his personal life and he struggles to start conversations often.

thoughts on the inside are Loud. he thinks a lot! just doesn’t want to say any of it. likes to keep to himself. 

the only time when he feels like he’s really comfortable with himself/what he’s doing is when he’s in a studio. 

will act like he’s interested in politics (he isn’t) for the sake of his family.

torn between making his family happy / his parents proud & making himself happy. right now he’s just trying to make his parents happy at least until his dad’s term ends.

cut to present day: she's halfway through her masters, now a R&D manager at haru, living her best, normal, average life!!

personality wise: she's pretty much indifferent about everything, the type to just shrug her shoulders and say 'meh' to good shit that happens, bad shit that happens, and just any kind of shit that happens; also crazy determined though, as seen in tracking down daddio, grinding through a masters degree she second-guesses every other week; kinda judgemental soz; very independent and doesn't want any help ( except that free money wired to her every month..... that can stay ); honestly a really good friend if you stick around long enough for her to like you! the type to quietly take notice of small details you might mention and then all of a sudden you're getting that shirt you said you wanted in passing one thursday last year in april; carefree in the sense that she'll do whatever she wants when she feels like it, e.g. drink at lunchtime, sleep with that dude, read that one book, wear that one shirt to work that's not exactly appropriate

mother passed away, and with the only legal guardian listed in her will being his biological father, he whisked away to the city of seoul to fit into a family that, quite literally, didn’t have space for him

half-siblings were terrible, and stepmother was even worse—playing the media into thinking that his absence from high-profile family affairs were the result of a “chronic illness” or “studying aboard”

so he worked really fucking hard to be recognized! no matter how much he struggled (and still is) with the world of high society

right now, his position in the family is shaky; as he has no plans to actually become a doctor like their father, the second-best choice is obtaining a mba in health administration to justify him potentially earning an executive position at naseul hospital

first end goal is to be rightfully named to the hospital’s board of directors, and second end goal is to, uuuhhhhh, sell his shares so he can finally get the fuck out of here

a good girl! genuinely kind and well-intentioned with a positive outlook on life!

everyone’s favorite brat was born after a long and painful 16 hours of labor and i’m sorry to say that rieon being a pain in everyone’s (mom especially) everything does not end there

though very very loved and spoilt rotten, she learns early on that dad’s neglect starts and ends somewhere from a misread ultrasound to the start of her first menstrual cycle (in which she can no longer cling and act like "one of the boys” for a morsel of dad’s attention) and that—no matter what she does, nothing will change the fact that she’s not a son

which, naturally, her train of thought is: ok, fine, fuck you too before going on to smash a bunch of his prized liquors

and from there—it’s pretty typical breaking/smashing/shattering shit for attention

so, it’s not surprisingly when she gets slapped into therapy by the end of middle school

jaehoon was condition by his grandfather to become a classical musican, due to the fact jaehoon’s father strayed away from that life and created 2M Ent instead . he had a strict upbringing where he spent his time learning the piano and competing in music recitals.

from ages 6-18 he was pretty much traveling with his grandfather and performing at various concerts/recitals 

he moved to new york city to attend a performing art school there 

at new york city he fell in love with writing and spent his time juggling music recitals, sneaking off to explore the city and learning about rock music from underground concerts

he can be stand offish because of the way he was raised, he’s polite to (mostly) everyone but there’s a sense of a wall surrounding him.

returned to south korea at 16, continued to attend music recitals but has a lack of passion and instead wants to pull as his focus into rock and indie music, so he snuck away from his family estate a lot

his grandfather and jaehoon have a huge fight when jaehoon told him he wanted to purse music with a band. but eventually they come to terms that jaehoon will finish college and then can try his luck with his own path with the help of 2M Ent.

he’s very insecure about his family’s control over his life, and has now become desperate to see success on his own.

the first born daughter to the moon family, best known for their weapons production company!

was born and raised in seoul, attended saebom high school where she graduated in 2013, and flew off the UK to study economics and management studies at cambridge!

was raised in a typical rich people fashion meaning she was mostly attended to by nannies and various other house staff. despite this, jiyeon has never resented her parents for their lack of attention. to her fickle childhood memory, they were around well enough for her to come to like and respect them. their style of parenting was probably the reason for her attachment issues but that’s a story for another day!

for as long as she can remember, she’s never really craved for anyone’s attention and liked the solitude of being able to do stuff for herself. that doesn’t mean she’s a friendless loner, though! she’s just... difficult to impress and doesn’t mind people occasionally leaving her life.

so she understands that this might mean she’ll come across as a stuck up snob to most people but then again, she doesn’t care! 

because she’s grown up setting her own standards, she’s quite the ambitious daughter; often chasing after the next big thing because she doesn’t like the feeling of being stuck somewhere. 

now off to the family business!! jiyeon respects her family’s hustle a lot. she saw from the beginning how clever her ancestors were for profiting off of something that might never end and that kind of practical approach to success is what she wants to emulate.

that being said she knows everything about the family business: from the legal side to the more illegal one and she’s not fazed by all of it.

basically how i imagine it is that the moon family provides quality grade weapons to militaries all over the world ( legal side ) and also provides contraband ammunition to transnational rebel orgs ( black market ). not their family mantra being all “let everyone fight so long as we’re rich!!”

now the thing about jiyeon is that she absolutely hates war: thinks it’s such a gross display of masculine power and insecurity and harms more bystanders than it does anyone else. but does that mean she’ll do something to stop their involvement in it? no. she’s practical enough to know that she doesn’t have that kind of pull. and while she’s ambitious she’s also not stupid: she wouldn’t waste her energy over something she knew she’d never have the power to change. 

however, this is where her luxury spa comes in.

the illuminate spa club is a luxury day spa that started with a very straightforward intention: to elevate the traditional korean spa experience. that’s it. over time, jiyeon has noticed that it began attracting women from affluent backgrounds (trophy wives to high level execs/politicians, their mistresses, etc.) and the more that she got to talking to them, the more that typically tight lipped secrets were exposed. who is she to not use that info to her benefit?

from there, the spa quickly spiraled into a hub where women from different social statuses would come to share important info that their husbands thought they couldn’t care less about. while it’s not always that the information shared would lead to some life-altering thing, there’s definitely been a few instances of that. 

she doesn’t necessarily have a big goal in mind. she’s just continued the practice of letting people trade insider information in the spa to have a safe space for women to share what they know and let the powerful information they posses sort of start the trajectory of their lives, however that’ll be. sometimes jiyeon herself benefits from it, sometimes she doesn’t, and that’s fine!

the spa is still a spa though! and everyone’s free to come in but insider info trading is definitely something that only the female patrons know and there’s a very strict method before a newbie can find themselves in it.

there we go! some other quick things to note about jiyeon is that she’s not an empath at all and possesses a very “better you than me” attitude but she does have her own moments of kindness! i know it may seem like she’s very cut throat but i promise she can be fun!
