Completely unprompted story:

My “Not Like Other Girls” phase lasted a week in 6th grade when I was going to an after school cooking class and the the two girls I partnered with were self proclaimed “tomboys” and they would badmouth “girly girl” things like dresses and makeup. So naturally, I wanted to fit in and I was like “yeah, me too” but then a week later I got some nail polish and I really wanted to paint my nails, I have this very clear memory of staring at the nail polish bottle and reconciling that maybe just MAYBE I was like “other girls” and that some feminine things are FUN actually.

Anyway, Ive never liked conforming to social labels.
