THIS yeah it’s about the cycle of life. I like to think it’s especially important to them bc irl/human era salmons basically start rotting whilst they’re still alive after completing the salmon run and spawning and it’s completely out of their control. (sorry to just link the Wikipedia page for salmon lmao it’s under ‘life cycle’) so when they stopped having to die immediately after spawning at whatever point in their evolution i can totally imagine developing a importance on both knowing and having more control over WHEN and HOW they die.

I don’t think it’s that they particularly love dying I think they just accept it as part of life and probably much prefer going out on their own terms (during a battle or elsewhere) and having their body be of use to their group than just “ah well guess I had kids got to watch myself die”

Salmonids love dying canonically I think that last point is a little bit unfair

i'm just wondering how "They don't mind dying. They think of all living things as part of a cycle, and death is something they're willing to give back to it" became "they love dying"

as much as i wanted frye or big man to win, i have to admit. it is pretty funny that shiver won AGAIN in europe/na while getting literally 0 points in japan, after so many people kept saying jp players were "rigging the vote" in favor of shiver (which like. has some pretty racist undertones but ok)

emotional state/Live Octoling Reaction™️ when it’s 2am I lose near every splatfest battle i got in, getting in 2 x10 battles in a row, losing both , saying “look I’ll do one more match but it’s getting depressing” then somehow with 0 festival shells WINNING A 100x by 1%
